  • Hello! My name is Adrienne. I am 44 years old. I started a 20:4 version of IF on Monday (20 hours fasting with a 4 hour eating window.) I fast from 8 p.m. until 4 p.m. the next day and eat from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. As of today (Thursday) I am down 4.2 lbs. I have tried every diet out there (including 4:2) and this is by far the easiest, most effective thing I have ever done. I am not starving… I am not miserable. I actually feel GREAT. I do count calories using MFP and I do not go over 1200 calories a day. After the 2nd day, my energy level soared and I just feel GOOD. I drink coffee, lemon water, and no calorie unsweetened carbonated beverages to get me through the day. Knowing that I can eat pretty much whatever I want at 4 p.m. gets me through the day. Of course, this is not for everybody and I know there will be naysayers, but so far is working for me. I started out on Monday weighing 168 lbs. I just weighed this morning and I am now at 163.8 lbs. Since Monday! I am also doing Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred (which I have been doing for a couple of weeks now – I am on level 2 of that.) I really feel like this is something I can stick with. So… just wanted to say hi. I have spent hours and hours reading here and I think this is a great community! I hope to make some new friends and give/get some much needed support! 🙂

Woops! I meant to say 5:2! LOL! 😉

Hi Aidrienne, whatever works for you is the best thing for you to be doing as it means you should be able to keep at it, long term.

I was doing 5:2 since April but a week or two ago I dropped down to my goal weight so now I am doing 5:2 modified where the two days don’t look too different from your 20:4. Today, for example, is a fast day, and I haven’t eaten anything since supper last night (it is 4:30PM as I type this) and I won’t be eating until supper time tonight (probably around 6:30PM). So now I am doing a 24 hour fast on Monday and Thursday instead of previously having done 36 hours.

I keep doing this in the hopes that autophagy will kick in and prolong a healthy life.
