I am having a meat free week this week yes Happy that is correct my sons cant handle my fasting but no meat OMG π― I now need serious help π it is the complete opposite to my meat only eating from the animal kingdom last year and this may lead to a month of Whole Foods Plant Based free of SOS salt oil and sugar the True North and Dr Alan Goldhamer mantra.

Morning/evening all,
RT, I hope you enjoy your meat free week. I think you’ll notice how different veggies taste when they’ve not been relegated to supporting act and have given a bit more love in the cooking pan π
My cauli cheese and roasted roots were very good and I’m looking forward to the leftovers.
The Christmas cheese is finally all gone and the only items remaining are 2 oranges, half a pomegranate and some grapes which are still in good condition despite being purchased on 20th December. Oh yes, and a hunk of cake plus some frozen raw mince pies.
The cake and pies will keep for ages but I need to use the grapes and pomegranate so a fruit based brunch is in order ππ
Have a good one everybody π
Morning/evening all,
I’ve not been eating meat/fish on a daily basis for several years and my change of direction is more about exploring plant based food than anything else although I am concerned about many aspects of animal welfare and the ecological damage due to mass rearing of animals for food.
FD for me today, and I prepared a lentil bake yesterday which is ready for the oven and will feed me all week π
It’s a foul day here, pouring with rain and due to become much colder and very windy. A good excuse to stay home and watch tennis π
Have a good one everybody π
Hi everyone………….anyone π
I’m on my second of B2B FDs.
Yesterday was tough as I ate too many carbs at the weekend and was craving food all day, but I got through to dinner without resorting to anything other than a finger of salt and lots of water and mint tea and today has been much easier.
Have a good one everybody π
Morning/evening all,
Thanks RT π
NFD for me today after 2 good FDS.
So the results of the when should we eat carbs experiment indicates average blood sugar of 15.9 if eaten in the morning and 10.4 if eaten in the evening.
Early theory is the longer the period of time since we last did so, the better the body copes with them.
More research will be undertaken as this was only a short study with a small group of participants.
Have a good one everybody π
Amazon we are heading in South Australia for B2B 41+ days i don’t mind but yfee and the cat and dog are far from happy π and we bring the birds inside in the air-condition house spoil t much.Really feel your leading the way with great resilience
Perseverance is the hard work you do after you get tired of doing the hard work you already did.
Peace RT
Hi RT,
When I was in Perth in January 2014 we had 6 days in a row when it was above 40C. We spent a lot of time sitting in the pool taking extra fluids on bpard πΊπΊπΊπΊ
A holiday in such heat then back to British weather is enough for me π
Only 4 weeks until my next holiday and I need to persevere or there’ll be nothing to put in the suitcase as the summer clothes are all a bit on the snug side at the moment. There’s still a lot of hard work to be done.
Morning/evening all,
It’s a cold, windy and sunny day here.
RT, how’s the meat free week going?
So the new scales tell me I weigh several pounds more than the old ones which is rather disappointing but in the greater scheme of things doesn’t make any difference to my mission. The aim is to be fit, slim and as healthy as possible as although I’ve a goal weight I know that I’ll stop when I feel good and like what I see in the mirror.
FD today and I’ve done my home workout so am off to have a shower and polish my halo π
Havea good one everybody π
Hello,
Amazon this is very desappoing with your new scale. I had the same experience as well. Like you mentioned before you are fitter and healthier than ever.
It’s very cold here in Florida today but beautiful blue skies. Still far much better then up north. We usually do the samething such as cleaning the house and the garden. The grass doesn’t look good. Lots of weeds and crabgrass which it’s hard to kill.
Trying to Fast today and break it later with a 15 bean soup is the name of the recipe.
Have a good day folks π¦
HCB,
I’m not surprised that the old scales were inaccurate and it doesn’t change anything. the clothes that fit me yesterday fit today and those that were too tight are still too tight.
I’ve been out to do some holiday shopping. I always buy new underwear before I go on holiday. I’ve no idea why but it has become a ritual.
4 weeks tomorrow and I’m really looking forward to it π
But I’m not looking forward to getting up early enough to be at the airport by 4:30 am π
Hi Fast Trackers and Hello World (You All know Who You ARE) π
Have you ever spoken and wished that you could immediately take the words back or that you could crawl into a hole? Here are some priceless quotes:…
*I walked into a hair salon with my husband and three kids in tow and asked loudly, “How much do you charge for a shampoo and a blow job?” I turned around and walked back out and never went back. My husband didn’t say a word. He knew better*.
*I was at the golf store comparing different kinds of golf balls. I was unhappy with the women’s type I had been using. After browsing for several minutes, I was approached by one of the good- looking gentlemen who works at the store. He asked if he could help me. Without thinking, I looked at him and said, “I think I like playing with men’s balls.”*
*My sister and I were at the mall and passed by a store that sold a variety of candy and nuts. As we were looking at the display case, the boy behind the counter asked if we needed any help. I replied, “No, I’m just looking at your nuts.” My sister started to laugh hysterically, the boy grinned, and I turned beet-red and walked away. To this day, my sister has never let me forget about it.*
*Have you ever asked your child a question too many times? My three-year-old son had a lot of problems with potty training and I was on him constantly. One day we stopped at Taco Bell for a quick lunch in between errands. It was very busy, with a full dining room. While enjoying my taco, I smelled something funny, so of course I checked my seven-month-old daughter, and she was clean. Then I realized that Danny had not asked to go potty in a while, so I asked him if he needed to go, and he said, “No.” I kept thinking, “Oh Lord, that child has had an accident, and I don’t have any clothes with me.” Then I said, “Dan!, are you SURE you didn’t have an accident?” “No,” he replied. I just KNEW that he must have had an accident, because the smell was getting worse. Soooooo, I asked one more time, “Danny, did you have an accident?” This time he jumped up, yanked down his pants, bent over and spread his cheeks and yelled. “SEE MOM, IT’S JUST FARTS!!” While 30 people nearly choked to death on their tacos laughing, he calmly pulled up his pants and sat down. An old couple made me feel better by thanking me for the best laugh they’d ever had!*
*This had most of the state of Michigan laughing for 2 days and a very embarrassed female news anchor who will, in the future, likely think before she speaks. What happens when you predict snow but don’t get any? A true story. We had a female news anchor who the day after it was supposed to have snowed and didn’t, turned to the weatherman and asked: “So Bob, where’s that 8 inches you promised me last night?” Not only did HE have to leave the set, but half the crew did too!
*While on a flight from New York, the Stewardess was busy passing out peanuts and cokes to everyone. There were about sixteen flights lined up waiting to get clearance to take off. Then the other Stewardess got a message from the Pilot that the tower said the wind had changed 180 degrees and they were first in line to take off, and to have everyone buckle up. Without thinking she just announced “Please buckle up, grab your drinks and hold your nuts, we’re taking off”, No one saw her for the rest of the flight to Houston, and all the other Stewardesses were laughing all the way and half of the passengers.
*I was working in an aquarium, when some new guy who was recently hired was given the task of feeding the fish. He started throwing in friggin peanuts! I walked up to him, looking angry, and said to him, “Damn it! They can’t digest that! All they can do is lick your nuts!”. Needless to say, I quit.
Have A Happy Weekend All You beautiful Losers π
Peace RT
Hi RT
I think this week’s Friday Funnies exemplify the difference between men and women: females use langage to communicate; men regard all language as having sexual connotations ππ
Hope the heat isn’t getting to you.
You are correct in your attitude to the new scales Amazon. I have the same issue, but still like to check on the old ones occasionally for reassurance (they are in Mr P’s bathroom π)
I also buy new undies before trips πΆπ
I’ve forgotten, where are you off to this trip?
Have a good weekend everyone. P π
I’m having a hard enough time sticking to the plan without beating myself up over things I can’t control. The scales will tell me if I’ve lost weight and the size of the number isn’t anywhere near as important as the sum of the loss π
The most important thing is that the trousers of truth are comfy by the time I go to Ecuador π€©
Thanks for the Friday funnies RT.
Wot P said! π
How lovely. Our prime minister is pregnant! I’m so pleased for her. Very nice message from Turnball for her, too.
New undies for every trip? These are sartorial heights I can only dream about π
Since the fruit of certain trees are correctly called nuts, any misunderstanding caused by the use of the word is totally in the mind of the listener. P has it in a nutshell π
It’s another beautiful summer’s day in Wellington, after 50mm in the rain gauge over the last few days. I won’t need to get the hose out for a while now. The kale, chard and broad beans are out of the veggie garden, and spinach and more chard in for autumn. I always have lettuce on the go for picking from, so my salads are a mainstay in summer.
Good grief indeed! We could go halves on that 44 degrees and weβd think it was cracking the flags weather here in Cumbria! Currently 1 degree, but with snow lying and windchill it feels colder. Iβm in full thermals, you can cut me out of my clothes when itβs spring!
I did manage to fast yesterday, but it wasnβt easy until I got to mid afternoon, which tends to be the point of no return.
I have been practicing my wooden floor Tom Cruise slide from βRisky Businessβ in preparation for the upcoming short film βRouge Traderβ Amazon I prefer warm/hot vegetable to salad and I have found to my surprise a feeling of satiety happiness and general wellbeing with lightness the food prep and minimal cooking is very simple and enjoyable who knew? Last nightβs dinner becomes todays lunch cook once eat twice. No breakfast required through the working week I am not much of a fruit eater generally but I have had some beautiful table grapes ice cold from the fridge yummo and the neighbour dropped off a bucket of apricots off his tree which where unreal. A mate of mine from work dropped off some fresh tomatoes and home grown zucchini now the start of a ratatouille π‘ for tonightβs bowl of yummy goodness so far this week its been chilli beans and cauliflower mash, vegie burgers and fresh tomato sauce, a simple cauliflower base pizza with tomato garlic onion and olives a coconut curry with chick pea butternut and a sweet potato. . Roast veg served warm with a garlic honey and balsamic dressing and farm fresh eggs combination veg into a frittata in the pan.
There is much to like about this self-experiment.
Peace RT
Morning/evening all,
I switched my FDs as I went out to the cinema followed by dinner on Friday so I’m fasting today. I am hungry as I’ve been up half the night watching tennis but I’m determined to nail a food free fast today.
RT, your diet this past week sounds fab. It’s amazing how much more notice we take of the flavour of veggies when they are the star on the plate rather than a bit part π I’m glad you are enjoying the experiment.
On Friday we visited our favourite pizza place where the toppings are as far away from Italy as you! They use all British produce including salami and ham, the goat cheese range is called Billy the Kid π and they also serve the largest range of ciders I’ve ever encountered.
I chose the Kew Gardens Grazer (it’s just down the road) which is a veg and blue cheese number and very tasty indeed!
Have a good one everybody π
When I’m travelling I take whatever is suitable for the type of holiday.
When I’m on a tour, I always take a nice skirt and a smart pair of trousers plus a couple of tops for the evenings and suitable day wear for the activities involved.
Some people I encounter on tour don’t seem to be bothered about their appearance but I like to look and be clean and tidy and not go out looking or smelling like someone who went to bed in their clothes!
Barata baulked at me buying a couple of new pairs of knickers so I can’t wait to hear what she thinks about Jo throwing clothes away every time she goes on holiday π
Purple, I’ve come to realise that I can live happily without meat, but I could never give up cheese.
My jaw did drop a bit at Jo’s holiday system, Amazon. Obviously I’m not as hard on my undies as some of us. π I’m still wearing my pre- 5:2 bras, although these are on the list for replacement. (You can look back again, RT).
I salute your veggie experiment, RT. It wouldn’t begin to be acceptable in this household of three carnivorous males. Things will change a bit next week, though, when the kitchen gets ripped out and replaced. Eating facilities will move to the back bedroom, and dinners will be of the barbeque and deli meats with salad varieties.
Nasty about your back, Jo. You take care there. At least it’s lying in bed weather at your end of the globe.
FD today, and a public holiday, so we will see how we get on.
Barata,
I had more weight to lose than you and most of my clothes both outer and underwear became much too big although I did have some things that I had grown out of that I’m able to wear again.
It isn’t about being hard on clothes it’s about having enough not to need to get laundry done while I’m away and having something new however small, to take on holiday.
Good luck with the kitchen replacement, I hope it all goes well π
Interesting thread on undies/knickers/pants or other variations. We all remember the title “Falling Panties” by Lucy Lastic. I remember a school friend of my daughter’s in France who never washed knickers, but threw them out each day.
Well, back on earth, magnets on feet to stop dropping off the bottom of planet earth.
First 24 hour fast nearly over. It’s hot in this country, but it’s the humidity I notice most.
Barata, bring your 3 carnivorous males to us for a meal. I will talk with you asap.
So fasts of the week planned out around social events.
Did anyone read the latest IDM blog, where Fung suggests that four seven day fasts are better than a 30 day fast? He is suggesting moderation.
Good night/Have a good day.
xx Wiwi
