  • Day 25 UK NFD – not sure why but I’ve had a terrible few days ,after getting back from hols thought I’d be able to get back in the 5:2 rhythm but no for some reason I keep pigging out ,definitely fasting tomorrow and aim for a good finish to the challenge and try and get my act together for July

    Morning everyone

Just a quick post to bow out of June challenge. I’ve not posted or fasted since 10th as OH has been in hospital with sepsis. Now we face the challenge of getting his mobility, such as it was, back. He’s likely to be in for another week and I can’t manage to fast when at the hospital 10-11 hours a day, especially when helping him with his food.

Over the past 2 weeks I’ve gained 4lb, mostly because of meals out with my girls, something we can’t normally indulge in. My eldest (18) is now out in Thailand travelling for 7 weeks, so an added stress to the situation – may as well have them all at once.

I’m hoping to re-join in July and will be looking for support, which I’m hoping this group will be able to provide. I still read all your posts, but at the moment there’s just not enough hours in the day.

Sorry for the ramble, just hate being absent without explaining why.

Take care everyone, see you hopefully in July x

    Day 25 Newcastle UK FD.
Well what a strange week 3 days of eating rubbish no exercise due to a knee problem although I managed 6 mile on the bike with no reaction this morning and I’m down 3Lb 😁🤣
Lovely day again in Newcastle canny day for flying your kite or drying your washing as its a bit breeze 💨💨💨💨💨
Sons wedding day 12th August off to get measured for suit today and being nearly at goal it should fit still by the wedding day. Right car washing time again little bit of weeding up the allotment and I’m sure my better half will find a few tasks to keep me out of trouble 😭 Have a great day everyone whatever your doing and keep at it.

    Day 25, Northumberland UK, NFD

Well yesterday came in a bit over TDEE, but as I managed to squeeze in an hour in the gym it probably just about balanced out. TDEE or less today with kitchen definitely closed after aquafit, and bring this latest bout of junk binging to a close. That’s what got me to 4 stone overweight in the 1st place and now I’ve finally corrected that I have no wish to head back there, even if there are bits of me that definitely looked better more filled out. I feel so much healthier, am sleeping better, and so much more energy….. I still need to get used to the new me, and give this WoL time to be the new good habits around eating.

    Day 25 – Tokyo, Japan – NFD

I didn’t weigh myself today but I’m sure my weight went up some. A few days ago my wife asked when I would stop fasting, she doesn’t think I need it anymore, I was a few kg higher then. So I think that is a good sign.

I don’t eat at all on fast days and the fasting has become almost enjoyable to some extent. Sure there is a little hunger here and there. Sometimes there are some mild side effects like feeling a little light headed for an hour or two. Overall though I simple don’t mind it and I feel better. I don’t think of fasting as not eating I think of it as a type of therapy. Something I’m doing to improve my health.

Day 24, Guildford UK, Feast day
Day 25, Guildford UK, CFD (Controlled 1200) extensive exercise day

More later, am at the gym!

Day 24 Massachusetts USA NFD @pashaw So sorry about your husband’s illness. Sepsis is very scary. See you back here in July! Today had 2 meals out (but no wine) so hard to stay under TDEE. It’s Summertime and we were at the shore so a lobster roll and ice cream were part of the outing.
Day 25 NFD I’m home all day today so it’ll be easier to stay on track. I’m having a BLT for breakfast but will focus on veggies and salad later. Always end up
    Looking forward to my FD’s!

Day 25, London, UK, CD (NFD<TDEE)

So between Fridays’ binge and yesterdays’ BBQ, I’m up 2lbs and have noticed something quite disturbing. @strawberriesandcream mentioned, in Feb I believe, how after a particularly boozy night out she didn’t like the puffy face reflected back at her the following morning. THIS, I had this morning, for the 1st time ever, I guess pre-5:2, I was never slim enough to notice the puffiness due to alcohol; because my face was quite round anyway (LOL) and as friends have noted, my weightloss shows clearly in my slimmer face and cheekbones. I’m disappointed in myself, but I’m still positive about this WOL, we all fall off the wagon from time to time, I need to be vigilant because I think I get too complacent (“I’ve met Junes’ target; let’s celebrate”……… so stupid!!!) and forget that, for me, this will always be a battle in my mind!!! Wine is not my friend (pocket wino indeed!!!)……..… bad choices and puffy face…….no, No, NO!!!!

I hope these last few days of June are a breeze, looking forward to my next FD, probably Tues, as I’m not sure I am 100% in control to try a FD at home on Monday!! I don’t think I’ll get to my target for my holiday in 3 weeks, but I’ll be a hell of a lot closer than I was in January!!!!!

Good luck everyone, keep the faith!!!!!

    Day 25 USA-WA NFD
@AnnMarilyn welcome to our dry side of the state-are you in Spokane? Hope you are enjoying your time with family. And you can tiptoe off the plateau with us whenever it seems to happen. I agree with someone who said earlier, I almost don’t even want to say it “out loud” for fear I will jump right back on the plateau. The LCHF seems to really be a good boost for me right now.

One yoga class to teach this morning, some planting in the garden, and then time with family. Should be a great day!

    Day 25……Florida…… NFD

    Good Morning, Friends!

Yesterday, was a very nice day. I did end up eating more than I probably should have in the junk department. Only because my boys took me to the movies to see Cars 3. Such a cute little movie.
It actually remind me a lot of when I took them when they were we lil ones. They’ve grown to be some fine young men but it really tickles me to see the little kid come out in them every once in a while. I hope they never lose that part of them like so many adults do.
I did end up eating a whole bags of turtles during the show, in all honesty, they were not that good. I’m wondering if my taste buds are finally changing.

Pasha…… my thoughts and prayers to you and your family. I know how difficult it is when the ones we love are struggling.

Fat rabbit…….. I’m glad your son is safe and back home with you for at least a couple days. you are stronger then I because after hearing how close he was to the evil people and the heart break in London, I would have locked my boys up and swallowed the key.

Steve Toon…… enjoy the tailors! You’ve worked hard for the results! Your going to look fantastic!

Well, I’m off. My poor OH is working on the extension of our garden again today. I probably should go and help him.

I normally close with my chosen slogan for the month but yesterday on the ways to the movies, I heard a song by prince that I thought I needed to post for those struggling and plateauing….. so, I’m making an exception today!

If the elevator tries to break us down…… Let’s go crazy!

    Day 25 – USA – NFD

Yesterday’s FD was a bust. Too much beer.

    Day 25 California NSF 5:2

Another loss today! 145.6 – 66 kg. I finally moved beyond that plateau. Traveling next 4 days, so this will be good motivator to be mindful.

4.6 pounds lost since beginning of June. 10.2 pounds since I started 5:2 on May 10th.

    Day 25 – USA(Utah visiting) – NFD

Still basking in the glow of the wonderful lunch with the lovely and talented @redrockgirl302. We enjoyed thoroughly enjoyable conversation and life! I still was able to keep under TDEE with all the eating I did. Yeah for that! I just adore this WOL

Thanks, all, for your good wishes for meeting up!

@brightonbelle – keep coming here and get revived in your resolve to be back in the groove. I am sure you can do it.

Off to church shortly, so will close for now. Onward and downward!

Day 25, Rocky Mountains, US, NFD

    Hi all,

Yes, indeed, @songbirdme, I agree with you and want to say the same about you. Will meet again this summer! Yeah!😊😊😊

Today is the last day of the Arts Festival. I think I may have stayed within my TDEE yesterday despite all the free ice cream I ate. Today I will try to not have any. No, there is no trying (as Yoda says, hihi), I will NOT have any ice cream.

Have a good Sunday everyone!!! 🌺🌻🌼

    Day 25 – UK – NFD

@pashaw – what a horribly stressful time. Sending healing wishes to your OH – sounds like he’s out of danger but with a lot of hard work ahead. Take care of yourself.

PashaW I can’t start to imagine the stress you’re under. Big hugs to you and your family. Keep your chin up. Xo

@pashaw: I’m so sorry about your OH, I do hope he will be well soon. You must miss your eldest daughter too….I can well believe how stressed you are. Big Hugs for you xxx

    Day 25- Montreal- NFD

    Day 25, Newcastle UK, NFD

Hmmm. Suffice to say, this weekend has probably scuppered any chance I had of making my target by the end of the month. Had a great time socialising and enjoyed everything – just far too much of everything!!

Yes @flourbaby – that was me in February and I too have succumbed to complacency recently. Back to plan A tomorrow – ie. no drinking during the week (unless out or have guests) and stick to beer on the weekend. Thank goodness I have my lifeline now – this WOL and this forum. @bigviking – I’m empathising with you in a massive way lol!!
    @shera10000 – congratulations on 4lb gone last week and @sam-69 & @califdreamer – great progress 🙂
Great to hear you had such a lovely lunch together @songbirdme and @redrockgirl302.
@fatteacher – lovely to hear how happy you are – you worked for it and deserve it….and @fatrabbit – you should never, ever, say sorry for being happy – you too have worked so hard and inspire us all.
@pashaw – hugs for you and your OH – you know we’re always here for you and look forward to seeing you again next month.
You are certainly sounding like you’re back in the groove @steve toon taxi driver – I bet your son is very proud of you.

Well I’m now going to end the weekend the way I started (involving CC&C). Then the line will be well and truly drawn and the reset button jumped upon with two feet – the extra weight will help! Looking forward to a FD tomorrow.

Onwards & downwards – pace determined by route chosen – but no looking back.

Day 25 Post 1 Huntingdon UK NFD

Went out for a family pub lunch as relatives over from Australia. Tried to be dietarily sociable but restrained about what I was eating and left half a large Yorkshire and a roast potato as I decided that I really didnt need to eat them ! I also didnt have a pudding mindful of the goal we are all trying to reach fir the end of June .

    Good luck everyone !!!

    Day 25, Gozo Malta, nfd

Enjoyed Chinese food for lunch and ate out for supper.

    Good night everyone

Yes, @krisnia, I headed to Moses Lake & then Spokane area. There it was hot but comfortable. Now I am on my way back to record heat. It’s not so comfortable. Staying hydrated.

    Day 26 – Tokyo, Japan – FD … 84.5kg

Up some but that happens on NFDs the way I eat. Tomorrow will probably be a very high calorie day … wedding anniversary.

    Day 26 * Germany * FD

    Day 26 Shanghai, China FD

Wishing everyone a great end to the 30 days – the final push! Thanks to all for encouragement, ideas, inspiration and parts of the stories of your lives. May your graphs go down!

Shakshuka for dinner tonight. Yum scrum!

    Day 26 UK FD

175.4lbs. Kept most of the advance despite cooking and eating lots of food yesterday:) Will fast today and probably tomorrow as I have so much work to do to catch up for taking yesterday off.

    Day 25 UK NFD 🌈
    Day 26 UK NFD 🌈

Totally OTT weekend, but with family having a great time so enjoyed myself, didn’t stop the greedy hunger dragon, little regret today but had a great time. Dragon came out in force and did not go back into cage all weekend.

Today is another day however have a meal booked out tonight so NFD might try and just have that meal today, little redemption. 😂😂😂🤘🏻

    Day 26
    West Midlands UK
    NFD

    Day 26 Newcastle UK NFD
Keeping the AFD going until the end of the month. Hopefully for me next month’s challenge will be maintenance.
Busy busy day yesterday didn’t sit down and eat until 7.45pm i still have the odd poor night’s sleep after FD.
Well off to work. Have a great day everybody.

    Day 26 Australia NFD

Have missed the 24 th and 25 th which were both nfds. Have family staying so has been hard to do a fd, but was staying around goal. Haven’t checked for a few days. Will fit in a fd before the end of the month.

Day 26 UK FD – Monday morning and I think I’ve got my motivation back ,just having a black coffee & caught up on all your inspiring posts, it is very humbling reading the successes and challenges some of you are facing , aiming for a liquids until 7 day , have a lot to do today so hopefully no time to dwell on food .not going to step on the scales until end of the month and I’ll take it from there

    Day 26, Northumberland UK, FD

Fast day and reset button for me today. Didn’t hold to the no snacking after aquafit last night, partly the left over croissant calling, which then led to other sweet stuff. Scales have responded appropriately to a pretty poor weekend for junk, and I feel pretty lousy this morning, so nice fast to clear all that is just waht is required.

    Day 26, London, UK, NFD

    I don’t suppose anyone’s seen my Mojo???

Another NFD, 4th in a row, which is unheard of for me. I really can’t wait to get back to work tomorrow!!! I’m just not ‘feeling’ IT at the moment, possibly because I’m not drowning the dragon, I have had at most, 1L of water for each of the last 3 days (I’m guessing the water in my wine doesn’t count!!!)…….bad choices, ’cause I KNOW what works. My tummy is still rebelling against the ‘food like substances’ I forced into it on Fri & Sat…….. still getting comfy with the difference between “I can eat that, so I will” and “I can eat that, but I don’t need to, so I won’t”

NFD with dragon drowning today….. and a 30 day shred workout as punishment for not being mindful lately!!!!

@pashaw, sending healing vibes your OHs’ way, I hope he gets home soon, you’ll get back on the wagon for July once things settle a bit, see you then & stay strong!!!!!

Time for the HUMONGOUS PUSH required to end June on a high note, but low weight!!!! We’ve got this people, stay strong!!!!!

    DAY 26 – UK – FD

Sorry haven’t been posting or fasting! Lost my mojo completely, and have subsequently put on 5 lbs. 10st. 2lb at the last weigh in. At my lowest, for a day, I was 9st. 11.5lb. so a nasty gain…so easy to gain, so hard to lose. I haven’t been focused, and have been out so much lately and succumbed to so many treats. My birthday is coming up and it’s just another series of eating out etc. (My target had been 9st 7lb.) Instead I have put on. I will keep reading all the inspirational posts, and try and keep on track….but have to accept I have lost the fight at the mo. but hope to get back on track very soon. I was sooo confident I had cracked the code, and loved this w.o.l…..so I don’t understand why I am not in the zone….but I am constantly trying to get back to how I felt 2 months or so ago. I HATE the feeling of those extra lbs. which depresses me to the point of doing that stupid thing of weighing, seeing I am up, and eating again thru’ despondency. I will post again as soon as I am “in the zone”, but will continue reading all posts avidly, to try and get my inspiration back. Good luck all.

    Day 26, Newcastle UK, FD

After all the rubbish that I’ve inflicted on my body this weekend, I feel dreadful this morning – very sluggish, bloated and tired. What I am proud of though, is that yesterday morning, the two massive cupcakes with extremely sugary icing that I’d carried very carefully home, one in each hand, in the taxi – much to the taxi driver’s disapproval, went straight in the bin. Trouble is I’d already eaten two at the party. Oh well, onwards and downwards – a clear week to attempt to neutralize the damage.

Have a good Monday friends – the end of our June challenge is clearly in sight.

    Day26
    Cornwall
FD today we are off to Penzance today for a walk the weather is warm but cloudy, weighing tomorrow this month is just flying past only one FD left after today for this month.

    Day 26, UK, FD

87.5kg. 3 bottles of wine led to a 0.7kg gain over the w/e. Now first day of B2B.

    Day 26……Florida…. FD

Oh man, glad that today is a FD. Last night, I went to bed with such a full belly. It was my own fault though. On Sundays only, I make a treat for the family. This week, I tried a new receipe which was cinnamon coffee cake. The receipe said easy but man it took me a good 45 min. just to get it into the oven. In the end, it was exteremely dense. I think maybe, I manipulated the flour portion a bit to much. Which happens because, I don’t have any of those fancy kitchen tools. When it comes to the kitchen, I’m pretty old school and I do everything by hand. But seeing how last nights cake turned out, next time I make it, I’m going to have to run it through the sifter first.

    Goals for this week….
    FD…..M, W, and F
    Water, water, water

Okay, well I’m off to see the wizard, the wonderful wizard of oz!

Surely, NOT everyone was Kung-fu fighting!

    Day 26, Hampshire UK, FD

    Back from my holiday.

I acheived my goal weight whilst on holiday!!! (Seems odd doesn’t it?!)

So I am now under my goal weight by six ounces!!

Since Feb (the first time I actually dared to step on the scales haha) I have lost 11 lbs – I just looked at the tracker.

Yes, weird that I achieved my goal weight whilst on hols, BUT (1) it was so hot that I was terrified of getting dehydrated so I didn’t drink anything at all except water – NO BOOZE! (2) It was an activity holiday (3) It was so hot I lost my appetite

Most importantly – I did a 4 day-er 5:2/16:8 before going on holidays and I think this was a big part of it!

I will be setting a new goal for July…

    Good luck to all X

    2nd post

    I am very hungry today!

I haven’t done a FD for around 12 days (as I’ve been on hols) and I am really feeling it!

Ooh, it is harder if you get out of the habit of doing FDs !!!!

    Day 26 – Cumbria UK – NFD
    Day 25 – NFD after all 😈

Had a great day at my Yoga Workshop in the forest yurt with a great group (8 of us plus our teacher) very mindful all day – no breakfast and a light macrobiotic lunch but when I returned home I found out that OH had arranged to go out with friends who had dropped by unexpectedly – drinks and nibbles followed by a 3 course meal with lots of 🍷………need I say more 😈

Today is definitely a controlled day – just back from having a healthy brunch out with OH (poached eggs, avocado and 1 slice of sourdough toast with a sprinkling of feta cheese and a lovely flat white) – plan is to fluid fast for the rest of today and continue fasting tomorrow drinking only water, tea with a dash of skimmed milk and couple of glasses of my homemade kefir then breaking that fast on Wednesday after my morning yoga class! Plan for the rest of the week is to make sure that Wednesday is a controlled NFD. Then another FD on Thursday to end the month in a more controlled manner I hope 😇

@califdreamer – great job getting to your new low 💃
@redrockgirl302 and @songbirdme how lovely that you both got to meet up especially in a venue relating to your shared loved to music 🎼🎵♩
@bigviking – welcome to the pocket winos – I think we all have fallen by the wayside recently…….hic 😉
@fatteacher – great to hear that you enjoyed your holidays and that you returned only 3lbs away from your goal – You are so right in that this is now our WOL – will be welcoming you to the maintenance group soon 💃
@fatrabbit – what a great job you are doing and what a lovely surprise to have your middle son come for a visit (the fact that his brother had not told you of his visit made it the better!!)
@ciren2 – hope your back is feeling better soon – will be holding on to you today if you are trying for a FD 🤗
@pashaw – so sorry to hear that your OH has been in hospital again and so unwell – check in to the forum for support even if you are not fasting – we are your global family and will be thinking of you during your time of need. I totally understand that you cannot cope with fasting at this time, perhaps eating in a 16:8 or 20:4 window will help you to stay in maintenance during this difficult time. Even though you miss your daughter try to remember that you helped her to achieve her potential and that her travels will broaden her horizons 🤗
@steve-toon-taxi-driver – What an achievement and you will surely achieve your goal before your son’s wedding!
@dykask – I totally agree that fasting is a type of therapy to improve our health in general – I still fast 2 days a week despite having been in maintenance since December last year and it means that I don’t have to calorie count on my NFD!
@brightonbelle – you can do it – just keep checking here daily or more often if needed and we will be pulling you back on that 5:2 wagon in no time!
@flourbaby – hope you find your “mojo” and have a big push for the last 4 days of this challenge – join me in a FD tomorrow?
@jarbia – good job with pressing that RESET button today with a FD – those pesky 5lbs can be lost sooner than you think with a couple of FD and some controlled days in-between and remember to drink plenty of water every day x
@Strawberriesandcream – join me in a controlled end to the June Challenge – Together we are stronger!
@bert1802 – your posts always make me smile – so good to see you back to your positive self x
@fivetwofan5252 – what a wonderful achievement to reach your goal weight whilst on holidays 👏 Stay strong and drink plenty and you can do this FD – YOU KNOW YOU CAN!

Great job by those who are losing those lbs/kg and those in maintenance – this WOL does work!!!!!!!

To those who are struggling “I HOPE YOU KNOW YOU’RE CAPABLE AND BRAVE AND SIGNIFICANT. EVEN WHEN IT FEELS LIKE YOU’RE NOT”

A positive thought to take us all through this last week of the June Challenge
“LIFE is not about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about learning to DANCE in the RAIN”

Day 26, Rocky Mountains, US, FD

    Hi all,

Oh boy, do I need to push the reset button today!!! I am so glad I am not alone having the munchies, eating carbs, saying ‘well hello there, junk food’!!!
The dragon 🐉 is out of his cave in full force! 4 pounds in four days! Instead of being .4pounds away from my June goal, it is now 4.4 pounds!
So, reset button it is with a FD and perhaps a B2B. I know I will have to fight the dragon all day today! But we are fighting together and we will conquer the beast!!! 💧🐉💧🐉💧🐉💧

    Onwards and downwards!!! 😊😊😊

Day 24 Chicago, Illinois USA – NFD Weigh in at 140
    Day 25 – NFD
    Day 26 – FD

    Day 26 USA-WA FD
Had a wonderful time with my nieces, and an “adopted daughter ” (not truly, but she takes yoga from me and we’ve become friends) going to the movies yesterday, then a family gathering afterwards. A delightful day, and I managed to not dive into movie popcorn and a whole lot of other food traps. So I’m feeling good about that as I head into the fast zone today.

Focusing on low carbs really seems to be such a help to me, so thanks again to those who offered support in that direction …and I would love to get the “fat bomb” recipe again. I remember raspberries and cream cheese, but not much else!

Making today a very CD especially because it’s supposed to hit 100′ here today. I’m taking care of granddaughters this whole week, so I expect we will spend lots of time in the pool.

The final push of the month is always filled with angst and joy, so hang in there everyone!

    Day 21 – FD

I’ve had a lovely midsummer weekend with a big bunch of friends. Despite indulging in all things delicious I do feel like I managed to not overeat or gain any weight – might have also been thanks to those three fast days (the last one on Thursday probably went up to around 1000 kcal since we did eat cookies on the boat and I also had dessert (grilled marshmallows) that evening. I only returned home last night so I didn’t weigh myself at all last week.

The uneven surface at our destination is probably the reason why my injured ankle is pretty stiff today (I suppose it’s due to swelling). I hope it’ll feel better again after I’ve taken it easy for a few days.
