  • @at, what’s a fell race?

    Day 17 – USA – FD

Going well so far…not even 200 cals and it’s already late afternoon. Making a Headbanger’s Low carb Pizza tonight for a NFD tomorrow….of course I won’t eat the whole thing by myself; how can you think that, lol!! By the way, I meant to ask my friends across the pond (lived in Eire for 1 year back in the 70s); what is a sultana? What is an allotment?

Hi @metatauta a sultana is a variety of grape that’s been dried, a bit like a raisin but juicer.
Allotments are areas of land usually owned by local government or community groups where people can plant and grow fruit & veg.

@keetseel – Fell running, sometimes known as hill running or mountain running, is the sport of running and racing, off road, over upland country where the gradient climbed is a significant component of the difficulty. The name arises from the origins of the English sport on the fells of northern Britain, especially those in the Lake District.

Fell races are organised on the premise that contenders possess mountain navigation skills and carry adequate survival equipment as prescribed by the organiser.

Check out the wikepedia description which gives the history behind it all – My OH is a bit of keen participant…….you have to be a bit to do this sport πŸ˜‰

    Day 17 – USA – FD

third post – thank you, @m33 for the prompt reply! Had a great spiralized zucchini that I fried in a pan and added chili garlic sauce….wonderful FD meal, filling and HOT! Super low in calories, best part about it, especially on a FD! Had enough calories left to snack on a few raspberry cream cheese fat bombs!

    DAY 15 – UK – NFD
    DAY 16 – UK – NFD

    Still day 17 –

@metatauta – tell me more about those raspberry cream cheese fat bombs. They sound yummy!

    Day 17 – USA – FD

4th post: @annemarilyn, I got the recipe from the many low carb and/or ketogenic recipes for fat bombs from YouTube…very simple to make. Mine are only 71 calories each, so affordable even on a FD. Some people use sugar-free raspberry syrup; I used whole raspberries, cream cheese, stevia and then put in an ice cube tray and freeze!

    Still Day 17 –

@metatauta – thanks. Just bought some raspberries at the Farmers market today so can try them.

    Day 18 UK FD

179.2lbs. Just typed a long post and lost it:( Annoying! Suffice it to say no cheese, and rabbits getting on alright.

Working outside in the heat is not my favourite thing but at least I am not having to lug that 70 pounds around with me anymore. That should help today. And maybe I can sweat myself off this plateau?

    Day 18, Northumberland UK, NFD

Found more control yesterday, remembered to drown those dragons…… Aiming for same again today then a good fast day tomorrow. Sunny and warm again, so other than the tempatation of ice cream, should be good.

    Day 18 Belfast NFD
Heartfelt thoughts and prayers to all those who have lost their lives in Portugal. Yet another tragedy.
I’m loving this beautiful weather. We’ve been very lucky this year. Have spent a lot of time in the garden, so everything is looking good. Today, I’m going to potter and enjoy the rays.
@redrockgirl302 – Oh! key lime pie….I could eat the whole pie! And metatauta – am googling those raspberry bombs to try them too. I’ve both cream cheese and raspberries in the fridge. Mmmmm I’m salivating rending your posts!
@keetseel – that whoosh must be SO satisfying! Great story. If I get to 100 I think I’d do the same.
@fatrabbit – how do your bunnies cope with the heat? I can’t imagine how you cope with all those little furry friends.
Went overboard a bit with a lovely BBQ last night, but will have a CD today. The boys are coming for Father’s Day, which I’m really looking forward to.

    Onwards and downwards everyone.

    DAY 18 – UK – FD

    DAY 17 – UK – NFD

    Day 18, London, UK, FD

Looking forward to a much needed FD today after yesterdays’ BBQ, which included lots of not so great choices!!

I still haven’t caught up with the last 3 days posts, but I hope everyone is keeping on keeping on.

It’s far too hot to even think about food today, so this FD should go smoothly with lots of water. Looking forward to catching up with everyone a bit later.

Good luck everyone and keep the faith!!!

    Day 18/NFD/Melbourne Australia

    Day 18 FD Oman

Day 18, Guildford UK, FD (500)

Off to a great start and down the Gym?

    Have a great Sunday everyone.

    Day 18 Tas Australia NFD

    Day 18, UK, (N)FD ?

It’s Father’s Day and the kids are talking about a meal out. It’s supposed to be a FD, but this is a flexible way of life, right? Then again, I was exceedingly flexible with the wine last night. And gained 4lb. Stupid alcohol, stupid me. Maybe I start the fasting again on Monday…

    Day 16 NFD 🌈
    Day 17 NFD 🌈
    Day 18 NFD 🌈

Keep on keeping on. Sun is shining here in the U.K. making the most of it. Happy Father’s Day, my Dad went to Heaven last year, so spending my day thinking of him and doing things he liked to do, sad day for me, but lots of happy memories. Hope u all have a wonderful day, however you choose to spend it xxx 🌹🌹🌹

    Day 18– Colorado USA– NFD

Been a lovely weekend so far. Gorgeous weather for bike riding with OH.

Also yesterday, decided I really ought to return to a running routine. My feet have healed enough, now it’s just down to discipline.

I used to get my daily run/ workout in without question. It was as much a part of my day as brushing my teeth & taking a shower. But once the habit is gone, it seems easier to make excuses: long day at work on my feet, exhausted, need to grocery shop & do laundry instead…. Always something else to do.

So now it’s time! Time to kick excuses to the curb & re-build my healthy workout habit! My goal is to make it routine again. Where I don’t even question when & where to fit it into my day. As Nike tells us, I need to “Just Do It.”

So today, I’ll map out how to make this happen. How to fit regular, sustainable, consistent workouts (run, strength, bike, stretch) into my life again alongside 5:2 Intermittent Fasting. Then I’ll just do it. 28 days to cement a habit, right?

    Day 18…..Florida……FD

I finally made it to a day off…… working 6 days in a row, is a tough haul for an ole’girl like me. I did end up going to breakfast with the crew. But breaking down and having breakfast especially when I normally don’t… puts any attempt at a FD to bed.
Tomorrow, is date day with the hubby, so I’m going to do a FD today, so, I can enjoy the day with him without much thinking. Well at least about food…….

Our a/c in the front of the house is still out, so staying out of the kitchen will be easy and seeing that I do not want to fire up the oven, Sunday dessert is out as well. Which works out in my favor because I was going to make choc. Chip cookies and I just realized I’m out of baking soda.

I do plan on making meatloaf in the crockpot. I’ve never tried it go it is definitely going to be an experience. My sister used to make meatloaf like that all the time when I was growing up, so how bad can it be, Right?

The hubby says we should just eat out, he want to avoid the clean up in the heat as well. I told him that would be all fine and dandy, if restaurant food was much healthier and a whole lot less expensive.

Okay well I’m just rambling today….

Off to find out if Kung-fu fighting in the heat is the best way to sweat of the pounds…..

    Day 18 Newcastle UK NFD.
139lbs that’s 2lbs up on last week’s weight not too despondent though my measurements are the same or down on last weeks. I think that’s my first weight increase in over 3 months going to refocus my efforts next week and storm to the end of the June challenge.
@chumi i think it’s because I’m near my goal and my thoughts are on junk food.
Hot hot day in Newcastle. Have a great Sunday everyone.

    Day 18 – USA (Illinois) – NFD

Very good modified FD yesterday, just 600 calories. Right at 158.8 this morning. Proud of myself for that because I am bringing morning treats to church, and I managed to not eat despite baking banana nut bread yesterday. Egg casseroles will go into the oven shortly.

Happy Father’s Day to all who may be celebrating.

    Onward and downward!

    Day 16,17, 18 – UK – NFD

O dear, had a really good weekend, joined the pocket winos for a couple of days. Need to press reset badly tomorrow. I sort of knew it was going to happen so I suppose that is something positive and I haven’t started stuffing my face today which is what the old me normally did. So onward and downwards, jumping back on the wagon is what it’s all about.

    Happy Sunday everyone.

    Day 18: Gloucestershire, UK: NFD
Phew! Sooo hot, have I brought the sun back with me from Israel, I wonder?
I’ve mastered entering on the shared spreadsheet by the way….you have to press “insert” on the top bar, to make it stay…ha…ha!!
    My technology!

Day 18 Wales UK – NFD
Wow what a scorcher, hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Went out on Friday & woke up yesterday with a hangover, so ate very little yesterday.Feeling back to normal today.

Im determined to have a good FD tomorrow, I’ve stumbled & given up so many times already this month but this forum is helping to make me feel more positive.

    Day 18, Gozo, Malta, nfd

Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers who read this. I went out for lunch with my daughter and her son, our son and husband, I really enjoyed the outing and drunk two and a half of good local wine. It’s the first time our daughter came with us since she’s separating with her husband of ten years after discovering he’s been cheating with another woman for three years seven months. She enjoyed herself too.

I need to do at least three fast days before 28 June when my husband, our fourteen year old son and I go for a four day trip overland to Sicily. I need to lose at least two kilos perhaps not this month but later on to reach target again.

Onwards and downwards happy Sunday to everyone

Day 18, Rocky Mountains, US, CD

    Hi all,

Well the heat is being turned on more and more here as well, Tue and Wed we will reach 36 degrees Celsius, other days of the coming week are just a little below this. My volunteering at the Arts Festival from Thurs to Sun will be a very hot experience. πŸ˜…πŸ˜…πŸ˜…

Yesterday was a CD well under my TDEE, enjoyed movie theater popcorn when DH and I were scared by “The Mummy” with Tom Cruise. 😨😡😱

Today another CD. DH will grill chicken and veggies in the backyard, I will prepare green salad. Light food in hot weather! 🌞🌞🌞

    Tomorrow BSD restarts until Friday.
1.4 pounds to go to reach my June goal!

    Have a great Sunday everyone!😊🌷😊🌷😊

I am a very happy rabbit:) I had no real problem working in the heat. Last year I would have been incapacitated by it. That seventy pounds was suffocating. I planned to get the work done before it warmed up but that didn’t work out as my sister had a bit of a crisis and needed talking to. Even out there working in the hottest part of the day I was fine. The trees help of course but even so it is really hot today even in the shade. There are lots of rabbits stretched out lolling on the slabs in their runs for once not chasing the sun but avoiding it. All the runs have somewhere shaded in them so they just about cope with the heat even in their fur coats. But I have had a devil of a job keeping Magic and his prospective new lovbun cool though. The bonding cage is in the conservatory which is not good on a day like this even with the doors and windows open. I have been up on a ladder stapling bits of tarp and blanket and cardboard to the ceiling to provide the shade that the tree my mother had cut down used to provide. This worked until about three when I had to concede defeat and move them into a smaller cage in the treatment room. Once the sun is no longer actually hitting the conservatory roof I should be able to put them back. The only good thing being that they are far too hot to fight. Or to put on any bunny porn displays!

The other reason that I am a happy rabbit is that the veg man gave me about twenty bags of avocados. Many of these were too far gone but a good couple of dozen fruit are ok. The least ripe I will save, the others need using straight away so I made a huge bowl of guacamole which is my favourite food but too expensive for me to make normally. I am probably going to mess up my fast day today with it but so be it, well worth it. Although my bowl is sitting next to me and I feel too full to eat it just from the few spoonfuls I had while making it! The heat seems to have taken my appetite. I’m sure I will manage later though. Avocados are poisonous to every animal except humans so there was no question of them going to the critters.

Day 18 NFD St. Louis USA
Still reading through the post. Waiting for my massage therapist to show up. So looking forward to this! Those rabbits stories are just too much fun. And who knew only humans could eat avocados without dying!??!

Happy Father’s Day to those who celebrate and happy weekend to all.

    Day 18 – FIN – NFD

    Today’s weight: 60.2 kg

A 0.5 kg gain from last week, but still a hundred grams less than at the beginning of the month. Luckily not that bad but also not that surprising considering how and what I’ve been eating. My tracker graph has turned into a huge zigzag pattern after the last week in May. Since we’re about halfway through June and my weight is where it is, I feel like I’m unable to meet my original/overall target and have thus changed my aim for the month. My new goal is to at the very least get below 59 kg.

In hopes of shifting things around a bit more effectively, I’m planning to finally realize my plans of incorporating a third fast day into the upcoming week. I will thus fast on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday (hoping I’m able to make the b2b happen this time around).

    Day 18 – SW WA USA – NFD ?

Happy Father’s Day to the fathers on this forum! I left a msg for my father on his phone but will try again later. I’m blessed to still have a father on this earth. He’s recently turned 90 and doing so well, except for his hearing.

@steve toon taxi driver – perhaps you made a typo on your weight today? 139 lbs isn’t much for a man.

@fatrabbit, learned something new about avocados. Good to know.

@anna6 – so sorry about the situation with your daughter. Such heartache. Glad you could enjoy time together.

My stomach is off today so this may end up being a FD. We’ll see. So far only liquids sound possible – water, mint tea… No church for me today.

    Day 17 Oregon USA NFD
My NFD was okay but I had a large dinner and woke up hungry this morning, just the opposite with FD when I wake up with no hunger.

Interesting to read about the hot weather others are having. We have had very little summer weather and I’m getting desperate for sunshine. We are supposed to have a few days of sun and I’m looking forward to it.

@at – I love the description of your day, sounds wonderful. I had to google fell race as I’ve never heard of it. πŸ˜€

    (2nd post)
So after writing about needing to “Just Do It” with my exercise routine… I put down the iPad, laced up my shoes & took my doggy for a run! πŸΆπŸƒπŸ½β€β™€οΈ

Felt great knocking that out for the day. Now all my other activities will be gravy!
Still planning to ride my bike to pick up my pup’s Rx from the vet. Later I’ll lift weights πŸ‹ and then after dinner will be time to stretch.

Day 18 UK NFD – last day in Holiday mode ,time to get back in the swing of things tomorrow with a good FD. Read the first 5 and the most recent 5 pages of posts this aft in the garden, good to catch up on bunnies, fell running etc, @ciren2 glad your back and raring to go – you put me to shame regarding the spreadsheet I took one look at it months ago and have up ,maybe tomorrow….

    @steve toon taxi driver – I too hope it’s a typo if you’re under 10st I give up !

    Day 18 – USA – NFD

    Day 18 – USA – NFD

Second post: weekly weigh-in 178.4, exactly as last week. Waiting for a whoosh, since I had 2 successful FDs this week, first time in awhile.

    Day 18, Germany, NFD

@metatauta – I bet your “whoosh” will come soon. πŸ™‚

@awilson – having my 2nd Long Island Iced Tea of the season today – my fave summertime beverage. Hmm, none of this is wine… oh well.

    Day 17 – NZ – NFD
    Day 18 – NZ – NFD
    Day 19 – NZ – FD

    Day 18 – UAE – FD (23rd day of b29b)
    Day 17 – UAE – FD (22nd day of b29b)
Day 16 – UAE – FD (21st day of b29b) – weigh in day 79.7kg, down 0.3 under my ideal weight

I Sorry for not posting daily, a lot of posts to catch up…

@flourbaby I don’t have to do anything to control dehydration and heat. I think the human body adapt to the environment they live in. I consider myself fortunate as I have a desk job and I am not exposed to the sun. Others less fortunate work outside and are able to fast everyday. If you have read the Fast Diet book, Mimi Spencer, reference th Tunisian Football Team that was followed during the fasting and no noticeable degradation of performance was noticed.

@debster251, as I reached my target weight last month, I just want to maintain my current weight so I do not keep my calories low so I do east sometimes after 10:00pm just to maintenance.

@Strawberriesandcreamht sure as you mentioned Ramadan is not just a religious act but also aimed at improving health. It is about improving yourself being, self-control and giving. i.e refrain from consuming food, drinking liquids, smoking, and engaging in sexual relations of course from Dawn to sunset. Also, we are also instructed to refrain fromΒ sinful behaviorΒ that may negate the reward of fasting, such as false speech (insulting,Β backbiting, cursing, lying, etc.) and fighting except in self-defense. In addition, we are also instructed to donate percentage of our yearly saving to the needy. Needless to say that fasting is not unique to Islam, it was prescribed in other religions before specifically Judaism and Christianity.

Happy fasting everyone and keep the weight down, you can do it.

    Glasvegas, UK

Day 17 ended up being NFD busy writing up cv and having stepkids over stressed but happy internal job applied for.
Day 18 NFD woke up ar 4am with lots of pain meds sorted me out by 10 am stayed in very unlike me. Though I ve admit life admin took me solid 4 hours on top of house chores. I want this month to be over. And I want no more overtime until at least autumn.

    Day 16 Massachusetts USA NFD
    Day 17 Massachusetts USA NFD
    Day 18 Massachusetts USA NFD
This was a family wedding weekend and Father’s Day- I did my very best to stay at TDEE. Today, the day of the wedding dinner, I skipped lunch so that left quite a few calories in my “bank account.” I do very much look forward to tomorrow’s fast day. I might fit in an extra one thus week. We’ll see. Thinking of all of you and being accountable helped me make some wise decisions.

    Day 19, Germany, FD,

    98,1 kg

    Day 16- Montreal- FD
    Day 17-NFD
    Day 18- NFD

    Day 19, UK, FD
Serious water retention following the wine incident on Saturday. Purely looking at calories consumed vs calories expended, I should be down half a pound since Saturday morning. Instead I am 5lb up. 3 or 4 FDs coming up this week. And hopefully no wine!

    Day 19-26,Germany, NFD

    Day 19 – UAE – FD (24th day of b29b)

Hey. Apologies for absence. Been ill so not followed plan.
