@gretta, so sorry for your loss! @ciren2, how horrible to have to be enslaved to doctor schedules! I hope you and DH are soon alleviated from pain. @daffodil2010, so happy to hear your news daily about the progress of the camper project you and DH embarked on a year ago! @matpi, good luck in your new digs! @lilymartin, great to hear from you and wise words indeed!

    Day 29 – Adelaide AU – FD
@gretta So sorry for your loss. It’s never easy to lose a loved one.
Friday FD was a disaster! I did fine until about 6 pm but being a Friday night… I will not try that again.
Resetting today with a proper fast day then another on Wednesday as we have a farewell lunch on Thursday for a work colleague at a gourmet pizza place.
I’m glad things have cooled off for our friends in the Northern Hemisphere. Have a great week, everyone.

Day 28 Ohio, US — NFD (70 bites)

I ate a little more than my target and am not really sure why. The important part is that I was able to stop without letting things get out of control. That’s a plus!

@gretta Sorry for your loss! Peace and comfort be with you and your family!

@winsome waif Hope your reset went well today. Consistency with the WOL will definitely see you through whatever might happen on those unintended NFD’s!

@kaywesterman One of the signs that this WOL really works is how it keeps the roller coaster times from being as extreme as they once might have been. Yes, there are ups and downs, but it seems that the variation is much smaller than it once was. Just noticing that that is happening can help with the endurance. Definitely for most people lasting weight loss is an endurance run, not a sprint.

So it’s off to the races with the start of a new work week!

    Day 29 – Ireland 🇮🇪 – FD

The last few days of July, let’s make it count!

I do seem to be sitting firmly on this plateau though, the same + or – 7 lbs, but hey, it’s still nearly 30lbs less than two years ago (albeit last year I was 10lbs lighter). Positive thoughts. FD today, CD tomorrow, FD Wednesday….then on into August 💃

@gretta so very sorry to hear about your Grandma and her passing, but as you said, she was ready to go and her final time was with family and at home just as she wanted. Take care of yourself.

@betsylee I do actually have an old pair of smart work trousers in the wardrobe that I used to use as my “measuring trousers”. Must look them out. I believe they are UK size 16 (or maybe 18). It will be good to see the difference now ☺️

@ciren2 yourself and you DH really are going through the wars with the aches and pains. Sympathy for the wait for doctors appointments etc, it’s the same here, unless you can flash big spondoolicks of cash and leap the queue 😡

@metatauta I know, a whole year since we bought the van and we are still doing it. It’s liveable in now though, trips planned, and next year, maybe, the BIG ONE. We didn’t spend all this time and money to have the camper sitting in the drive. So excited about our tentative plans but so gonna do it!

@Rabette We installed solar panels on the roof at the weekend so we can now go off grid without a hook up!! So the fridge can work full time. It was so cool to see the battery charging once we had got the solar wired in. I spent a lot of time on Saturday on the roof of the van with DH….would not have been able to do that two years and 30lbs heavier ago 😆 It’s the little things.

Our neighbours are all curious about the camper now, so many have popped in for a look, and so many are wistful and wanting to do the same. My advice…..BUY one that’s already built……blood sweat and tears have gone into ours, we love it…..but never again will we do a self build….this big van will take us around the world into our dotage 😀

@gretta, my sympathies for your loss. It is always hard for those left behind.

@ciren2, how frustrating re the knee problems you and your OH both have. I fortunately have a very proactive and cooperative GP. It was at his instigation that the MRI was ordered, because of the knee history. He’d hoped to write the referral and me get the test done before the rules changed here – ordered it mid-November last year. Unfortunately, the govt rules changed on November 1st, not November 30th, so I missed out on a free MRI, but I decided, with the problems my knee intermitttently causes, that it would still be good to have the scan done, even if I did have to pay for it.

@matpi, wise words “weight loss is an endurance run, not a sprint”

Let’s make these last few days count!

Second post – by the way, we do have someone doing the August challenge don’t we?

    Day 29 – Reading, UK – FD

After a week of having a grotty cold, I’m determined to improve my diet and my health. So an apple a day, and not too much food. Cooler here today, which is good. Onwards and downwards!

    Day 29 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – FD

The less said about weekend overindulgences the better. I’m with this week’s Mon/Wed fasters. Back on track for the last few days; and then into August! 🤾‍♀️

Day 27 – Stratford Upon Avon, UK – FD

@gretta – I am so sorry for your loss.
@betsylee – yes, I definitely find it easier to fast when it is really hot, I am happy enough sipping water during the day and then then a decent evening meal does me.
@lilymartin – no, I haven’t tried pilates, maybe I should BUT I am very afraid of making my neck/shoulder/arm problems worse, some days I am in a lot of pain and at night it is even worse once I lay down, it is a long time since I’ve had a decent nights sleep….plus….I’m not very flexible, feel like I might just snap 😉
@missybear – food for thought! am I being too extreme? I have been doing B2B2B2B Mon-Thurs. At 197lbs I have a lot to lose, should I just try to slow down a bit? I’ve lost 14lbs since the end of May so doing OK but then this week I put on 2lbs – wham!out of nowhere – and I am devastated considering the effort I am putting in. On Thurs evening my DH decided on am impromptu BBQ, DD1 and DD2 were happy with that, I didn’t partake, instead sticking to my planned FD meal, felt happy and virtuous doing that but then a gain on Fri (!)……so now I’m feeling very despondent, this weight is just hanging on to me and feeling that maybe I am just destined to be big forever.

Guess I need some words of advice and wisdom from all you FD veterans

@gretta condolences for your loss, take care of yourself at this sad time xx

@yo-yo congratulations on your terrific weight loss since May. Don’t be discouraged that the loss is stalling, that happens. Try to find a 5:2 routine that fits your life style. I experimented with 5 day B2B fasting and water fasting to try and speed up the loss but it just back fired on me….either the loss didn’t happen as I expected or I just got too hungry so ended up eating too much on NFDs and gained! What has worked best for me is sticking with basics and fasting every Monday and Thursday somewhere between 500 and 800 calories. I need to do that to keep the weight off and this plan is easy enough for me to do forever. Every one is different so you need to tweak this WOE to make it a WOL you can stick with long term otherwise any weight loss will be regained. Good luck 😉

    Day 29 – USA – NFD

@yo-yo Fletch, I can commiserate with your frustration at having gained 2 lbs. practically overnight….sometimes it’s from salt in your food, hence, your body is hanging onto the water; other times, it’s FIT (food in transit) and you will get a “whoosh” within a day or so. I have a regimen of LCHF (low-carb, healthy fat, moderate protein) and I also intermittent fast. I don’t have too many fasting days since I’m in maintenance, but I’m mindful of a 16:8 window of eating. For instance, I was 139 at one point last week…by week’s end, I was 133.6, without having eaten much differently from day to day. Some people “trick” their bodies by having more carbs one day and then they get a “whoosh”. You have to play around and see what works for your body. You will find out the more time you put into it experimenting. Everyone is so different. Hope this helps.

    Uk, day 29, FD

Hello everyone, so sorry for going off the radar the last 2 weeks, just been really busy with work and social life. No fasting watsoeva either… I should have made more of an effort and posted daily – it would have helped me to feel accountable, but on track now, ready for August challenge!
    Let’s do this!

    Day 29, VA, USA, FD

Friday I did pretty good. It was a bit more of a CD probably still under 900ish calories I did not really count, but if I had to guess.

Then Saturday turned into an unexpected FD! I wasn’t hungry when I woke, so I waited got hungry around 3pm. Decided to try my new tuna variation which was just a can of tuna & adding sweet & hot jalapeño peppers mixture (this is in a jar, kinda like pickles would be) I added a couple table spoons of the juice. The calorie count for these things says 0 (but I account that some of the juice might have some calories, but prob not more than 10-20 per table spoon) Let me just say the tuna mixture was awesome! I had a couple of pieces of fresh cantaloup and then…. Was set.

What! ON SATURDAY you say… and I even attended a B-Day Party with live music and a spread of healthy and non-healthy fun food. I was not tempted at all. I took a canister filled to the brim with ice and then just poured a bit of blood orange moonshine over the ice and that was my plain and simple cocktail all night. (this is store made moonshine, so its a bit like vodka for anyone unfamiliar)

The next morning – I wake to finally see somehow I lost about -3lbs I was like WHAT?! I’ve been at a stall for 3 weeks now. So it was good to finally feel like I was doing something.

@daffodil2010 – Oh my gosh! I wan’t solar panels! I think our van is so old tho with the fridge & stuff that is in it from the early 90s they hog way more amps. Do you also have an AC unit? We would like to re-do our inside of the van tho. B/c we don’t use the fridge and stove (b/c where we go we don’t usually have hook ups so its pointless right now. Do you have a solar panel setup/video you could recommend?

@gretta – Hugs, she is now expanded into the great universe and part of the stars. She is also always with you in your heart. Her stories and life lessons will live on through you.

@funshipfreddie – Don’t read on an FD day…. Ha, you have been warned! Have you heard of chocolate truffles? ganache more or less, is the inside of truffles.

@yo-yo fletch – the plateau is real! Look at @daffodil2010 (she’s been also at a pretty good stall too, but you just keep at it.) We know if we don’t keep at it, we will gain. You are at the amount that I lost too -14 lbs when I experienced my first stall. And yes I would do B2Bs I even did a 5 day water fast. When I look through my records after the 1st stall, I would lose a pretty good amount followed by a month of only losing a little amount. Also Hormones can really put a wrench into the flux, even if you don’t physically have a cycle any more, there is still hormone flux. So keep steady. You may want to change the cycle of FDs I find its better to keep the body guessing. Also if you are not already… do a little calorie recalculation. Meaning keep track for 2 weeks FDs and NFDs to see if there are some hidden calorie bombs that are putting you way over your TDEE (especially on NFDs) and be kind to yourself you have been doing GREAT! Trust that you will get through this to the other side. We are all here for ya! And @metatauta describes the “woosh” very well. ((Reflect on my story up at the top from this weekend!)) I’d been hanging on that same amount for 3 weeks now and then “woosh”!

    Day 26 CD

Sorry to disappear for a few days! I ws prepping for and at a conference & had houseguest with me to help with stuff – no minutes in the day. Finally on my own and playing catchup with So Much ahead of incredibly full week. I thought it was full and it keeps expanding in ways I couldn’t possibly have imagined!!

Not had any proper FDs since last here but have kept to some good principles while away. Mostly 16:8, GF & vegan xc some butter on toast, lots of veg and not so much carb. Saturday was an exception on all counts – breakfast, huge lunch & significant supper, lots of carbs in the shape of toast, chips and red lentil pasta. Loads of activity & some travel, but my stomach genuinely hurt at the end of the day.

Astonishingly I’ve actually lost weight – what is it with me going away and losing this month?! I’m now at an epic ATL and en route to my maintenance range. I started at 178lb aimed for 140 and now 139.5lb! Revised goal is to hit 133 and then have 133-140 as maintenance range. (Or 81kg now 64.5kg and aiming for 60kg) Woop woop!

I had some great luck while away – fabulous vegan gf food meant I wasn’t as tempted by the veggie, wheat or sugary stuff. And my treat bar of chocolate that I’d looked forward to all weekend turned out to have gone bad ahead of its best before date! I managed 2 squares on the train but wasn’t enjoying it so stopped 🙂

Today would be Monday FD but lovely old friend coming for tea & catch up so I’m heading for a 20:4. In a moment I’m making lemon polenta cake to have with frozen raspberries, and will have a suitably vegetablicious supper afterwards.

@gretta i’m so sorry for your loss. Glad you had some time with your gran and a chance to enjoy her and say goodbye xx

@daffodil2010 congratulations on your 2year anniversary!!! (I wish I’d kept some measuring trousers). How wonderful to be thinking about a year on the road – go for it!!

@missybear congrats on your 2 year anniversary, and this very long successful maintenance. I love that you post maintenance stories and struggles – wonderful to get an insight & ideas for life at the other end of the journey 🙂

Whatever your day brings, here’s to good choices and peaceful moments x

    Day 29: Gloucestershire, UK, NFD:
@gretta: First of all; I’m so sorry to hear that your dear grandma has died. Take comfort that she had her last days at home, had no pain and was with her family as she had wished. ((hugs)) xx
@michelinme: Congratulations on the new low…..all those veggies, eh?

DH didn’t get anywhere much at the doctors’ this morning, because (unbelievably) his x-ray results are still not back after 10 days! She’s not allowed to refer him until they are back (showing, no doubt, that it’s not showing anything, as it’s soft tissue damage….). He can’t have an ultrasound guided steroid injection without first being referred, so continues to be disabled by pain….and on, and on and on it goes…….

    @betsylee: I don’t know…..who IS doing August, anyone? Don’t be shy….

    2nd post

Drat, a long chatty post just got lost ARGH 😡😡😡😡

Day 29- Atlanta, Ga USA – CD. Has anyone posted the link for August yet?

    Day 29 2nd post

@ktcaroline volunteered to host August Challenge – are you still ok for it?

Sadly I’ve hit my busy patch (!) now until November. Happy to host a winter one. I think I did June & December last year but this year has got a bit fuller…

Any other volunteers to host a challenge? You don’t need Huge amounts of experience or to know the answers to everything, just commit to setting up – then posting each day. It’s a great way to hit restart or to keep focus. For me it built confidence, knowledge and commitment as well. And it helps if you enjoy encouraging welcoming or helping people out!

There’s usually someone who can help with setting up the spreadsheet if you need it. And there are enough of us from all over the world chipping in with answers & advice at odd hours. So you don’t need to be omnipresent or omnipotent, tho it helps if you’ve done a few months and got the basics 🙂

Any takers? Go on, you know you want to!

    Day 30, AUs, EFD

    Day 30?!? What happened?

Have been off line lately – super busy with work which usually makes a Monday FD go much faster. But yesterday I was craving a sausage roll. Fortunately the office cafe had run out so I had a toasted chicken schnitzel panini instead. Not good food choices for a FD but I did make it a OMAD. Today and tomorrow I will do egg fast days.

Sorry haven’t caught up on posts; will try and do so before August. Can’t beleive it’s the end of the month tomorrow!

Day 29 Ohio, US — MFD

The MFD has gone well, as has the packing. Only about 20 more boxes to go! Definitely tired tonight.

Keep up the good work as we approach the end of the month!

    Day 30 – Melbourne Aus – CD

Have a very full week socially with friends and family, so wont be able to do my usual FD on either wednesday or thursday, so going for a CD to back up yesterdays FD (ended up at 630cal). Normally I lay pretty low mid-week, but it’s a welcome distraction at the moment.

Might try for a second CD tomorrow, will see how it goes.

I’m away for the last week of August but will definitely put my hand up to host later this year, think it’s definitley time.

@rabbette I was up reading posts before gym this monring as i’m a terrible sleeper, and your comment had tears streaming down my face. My grandma had such a profound impact on me, and all those around her. She will definitely live on in all of those she touched.

    Day 30: Gloucestershire, UK, NFD:

As usual, very quick check-in before work. Will catch up later.
    Have a good day xx

    Day 30 – Ireland 🇮🇪 – NFD

What? Day 30 already?? Tomorrow is the Grand Finale of the August challenge. Some of you have hit ATL’s this month (well done you guys), others have seen a whoosh, others have seen modest losses, while still some of us are standing on the plateau, and some have seen a modest gain.

There are still two days left. It doesn’t matter what ways things have gone, you have concentrated on your health, have thought about making healthy food choices, have understood when things go wrong (or are perplexed by that scale showing an unexpected number after a perfect FD).

It doesn’t matter because in the long run we are all doing this for our health and in the long run, it can only be good.

Together we are stronger. Posting on this forum (almost daily) has at least kept me focused. I am at that stage of my life where hormones help with lashing on the weight, but I am now aware of that, and having accountability to myself and posting here, well, 8 times out of 10 it does work 👍

I had written a long post last night, took me nearly an hour, mind then pressed the wrong button and lost it. Grrrrr

@rabbette yes we have an a/c, we weren’t going to but figured that as we will be travelling to places a lot hotter than Ireland that it would be worth the investment. I will ask DH what amps we get with the solar but I do know we have a 24v van so much of our electrics are 24v, with some 12v……I know next to zip about electricity ☺️

@yo-yo fletch Stay strong, hopefully you will get a whoosh soon

@michelinme well done on a new ATL and resetting of goal. Yay.

@penz Oh you mentioned sausage roll and now I want one 😆 Good luck with the egg fast. I am going to have two today on my NFD but I think that will be it.

August is just waiting in the wings. Hopefully we will have the new Challenge set up soon…but no matter what, together we are stronger.

@gretta stay strong and take comfort in your family at this time.

    Day 30 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – NFD

I was pleasantly surprised with the scales this morning. Either I wasn’t as reckless as I’d imagined over the weekend, or one good FD can undo a lot of damage; a combination of the two, maybe? Still within my target range anyway.

@missybear – I really liked your simple yet practical & no-nonsense advice to @yo-yo (and all of us) on how you manage maintenance.

@michelinme – congrats on your new ATL!

Have a great day everyone 🍏

    Day 30 – Reading, UK – FD

Day 30 – how did that happen? One more day to try and salvage the July challenge. Ho hum, said Pooh. Yes, @michelinme I’m up for the August challenge. I still feel like a total newbie who struggles with EVERYTHING but I’m hoping that by hosting I’ll get more into the swing of it. And I know you lovely lot will be patient with me 🙂 won’t you?
    Onwards and downwards!

Day 30 – Stratford Upon Avon, UK – FD

    B2B

@missybear – thank you for your advise, long-term I feel I will be able to do the basics of 5:2 to maintain BUT I have to get there first! It feels beyond reach which is why I’m trying to speed it up a bit. I know what you mean though, my eagerness could easily back fire on me, so I am prepared to drop back to basics if it all becomes a bit much. I must also keep a closer eye on my NFDs, I don’t strictly calorie count on those days, I’m pretty careful but and I may unwittingly be self sabotaging.
@metatauta – I’m just waiting for that fabled ‘whoosh’ !!!! I know the female body works in mysterious ways! and did wonder if it could have been the heat last week, I did feel extra ‘puffy’ – if that makes sense (?)
@rabbette – that tuna mix sounds spot on! dreaming of it now….. 😉
I’m impressed! A 5 day water fast! now THAT is hard core – I’m not sure I have it in me to do that. I am keeping at it though because in all honesty, what’s the alternative? I’ve decided to calorie count on my NFDs this week to give me an idea of where I’m at and how I can tweek it if need be – sadly might have to think about cutting out my favourite tipple – lager. I know it’s not the best choice. Might even think about trying a dry Aug…..
    @michelinme – congratulations on your ATL! – I can but dream…..
@daffodil2010 – I’ve moved on and am focusing on the week ahead, can’t change last weeks gain. I am nailing my FDs, although I don’t think I’m doing anything too out of the ordinary – I need to pay more attention to my NFDs. Mindfulness.

Thank you all for your words of advice and encouragement – much appreciated xxx

    Pocket list Day 30
    @yo-yo

    Day 30 Belfast NFD

Missing in action for a bit. I’ve been very busy and down in Dublin for a few days with OS in his new house. Just a couple of pounds above Maintenance levels which I intend to zap forthwith. That seems to be the trend after an indulgent weekend, but it’s easy dealt with.

@daffodil2010/@Rabette – I have a cardboard wine holder from the supermarket which I’ve doctored to fit the cupboard and covered in sticky-back plastic. It makes good storage for glasses. And those IKEA boxes are excellent. We keep a ‘set’ of toiletries/ dressings and sauces etc as a permanent fixture each season. I just then top up tea, coffee etc as we need it. Good luck on your travels @ Daffodil.
@gretta – so sorry to hear of you loss

I’m going to take a bit of a break from the forum. I’ll probably drop in from time to time.

Good luck to everyone on their journey. This WOL really works – if it works for me it can work for anyone!

    Day 30, London, UK, FD

I’M BACK!!!! Well, I’ve been back since day 27, but after a nightmare 12hr journey home (delays, delays, delays!!) I seem to have lost a few days to sleep, family catch-up and preparing to return to the grindstone!!! But, here I am on my 1st FD in a couple of weeks and all I can say is Phew!!!!

I can admit it here………………………………. I didn’t have one (not even close to one!!!) DRY day during my 2 week holiday!!!!……………….. and I enjoyed every ……… single ……… minute of it!!! Particularly since I jumped on the scales on Day 28 to find I had only gained 4.5lbs, I say ‘only’ since last year it was a whopping 10lbs, so I’m taking it!!! I managed to lose 2.5lbs in the 1st 12 days of July, so if I can miraculously drop another 2lbs by August 1st, I’ll break-even for July …………………………. I’ve got everything crossed!!!!

I hope everyone has had a successful month, we’ve still got 2 more days to pull fingers out, stop faffing about, water fast & polish halo’s or just cross fingers & pray we can sweat out a miraculous -5lbs!!!!! ……………………………. I’m all for crossing fingers & praying!!!!

I haven’t caught up with 2 weeks worth of posts …………… & I’m unlikely to since I’ll just start fresh for August!! Keep the faith folks!!!!

    Day 30, Melb Aust, NFD

Okay but not great day, but I wasn’t trying to fast, so that’s okay. Will finish with a FD tomorrow and see what the scales say. Not expecting much, but August is another month!

@ktcaroline, glad you’re stepping up for August.

If someone will volunteer for September, I’ll put my hand up for October, but will need help from @at or someone equally tech-savvy to set up and maintain the spreadsheet, and/or advice from someone on how to “save” it each night in case the gremlins get in again as they’ve done a couple of months in the past.

@yo-yo fletch, various people have responded to you re possible issues, including plateaus, salt, time of month, etc., so I’ll throw in mine as well. I tend to hit a plateau every few kgs, which is frustrating. The thing is, this is meant to be a WOL, so you need to be able to enjoy the process. Slow down a bit.
My story: I started at 190 lbs on November 26th last year; I’m now around 162 lbs, so 28 lb down in about 7-8 months. It’s happened gradually, I’m not having problems with a lot of loose skin, I’m still enjoying some of the foods I like (though in much more moderation), I feel much better, I’ve gone down a couple of clothing sizes, and it’s been done gradually and without a lot of stress. Stressing about how much and how quickly I was losing has sabotaged me in the past. This is a WOL I plan to stay on for the rest of my life, so it has to be done in a way that I can maintain and enjoy. Please remember that 5:2 is not just a diet, it’s a lifestyle change, so you need to adapt it in a way that suits you and is sustainable long-term. Be kind to yourself.

Okay, having said all that, I’m getting tired of this plateau I’ve been on, but have been eating a few too many treats, which is at least partly why the weight’s not been moving. It will, though. Pleasing news is that the orthopaedic surgeon doesn’t want to do anything with my knee as yet. He expects I’ll need a knee replacement in the future, but better to stave it off as long as possible – and the more weight off, the better for my knee it will be.

    Downwards yet again, everyone.

Got a few soakings at work today…VERY heavy showers which turned into (almost) continuous solid rain. Posties’ nightmare….good job Tuesdays are light on the mail!

@ktcaroline: Thanks for hosting August, you’ve saved the day.
Maybe, during August, I can get back on the wagon, maybe I can’t, but I’ll certainly be here, anyway.

    Day 30 USA (Illinois) NFD

All going well at maintenance. Looking forward to August with @ktcaroline — yeah!

    Onward and downward.

Day 30 – Reading, UK – second post

So sorry for the confusion about hosting August. I think @betsylee posted at the same time as me a few days ago, and I completely missed the post. Anyway, I’ve created a thread for August, and attempted a new spreadsheet. It’s anyone’s guess whether it’s right, so don’t be shy about pointing out where I’m going wrong. And yes, @ciren2, once we’ve dried out, August is going to be an awesome on-the-fasting-wagon month.

Day 30- Atlanta, GA- USA- FD 800. I’ve not had many FD’s this month. However, I’ve been maintaining my weight (between 5 or lbs). So, I’m pleased for the most part. Although I’d like to be around 180 pounds, 185 is okay for now. I’m excited about August, as I am starting a new school year hear in Georgia , USA. We go back very early. 🙁 At least I did get to travel, visit with family, and get some down time as well. Looking forward to getting back into my routine. I thrive on that. I hope everyone had, or is having a great day!

    Day 30 UK CD

Yesterday’s CD was OK! Managed a 19:5 (i think) bc fasted until friend came to tea.. had gf paleo almond cake with her and just some baked beans for supper. Comfortably under 1000 calories 🙂

Today has been pretty full – the first of this week’s trips into town for big meetings ahead of holidays. THey’re all on different subjects/projects so it’s like every day is a Monday! Picked up 3kg of windfall plums on my way home – they’re in soak right now ready to pick over for freezing/quick jam/composting. What’s not to love.

So important to post for accountability… otherwise I get complacent. Today’s a 20:4 day but an unexpected bag of lentil chips just snuck in en route to supper. Who knows what I’d be eating if not posting? A lot more!

Better get on. Still a lot of typing to be ready for tomorrow’s round of meetings… 3 more days til holiday!

    Day 30 – 2nd post

Had to work late tonight, but luckily I had some konjac noodles and bolognese sauce ready prepared. It’s an NFD but going great so far. Going to keep it basics 5:2 for the next while, no more funny stuff, just live the WOL 😄

Yay @ktcaroline for hosting August, you will be great, I know it. These forums run themselves really once they get going, I love it!

@debster251 Sorry to hear you are also taking a break from forum life, take care.

We’ve lost a few former posters on my watch ☹️

@ciren2 Right now I am sitting here listening to the rain on the glass roof and it’s extremely pleasant. Not so good when I had to dash to the car after work. You though are at the mercy of all weathers unfortunately.

@flourbaby Welcome back, not much of a gain at all, …..and the only time I had a dry day or so on holiday was when I was on a six week trip…..even I can’t drink wine for six weeks straight 😂

@michelinme you are so resourceful with the windfall wild plums. My green fingers didn’t save my potted plum tree this year, it never blossomed, then she’d it’s leaves…I think it’s dead. Never had one plum from that tree 😨

Right, we are on the absolute final stretch of July. Our Aussie friends will be on soon posting for the last day. Let’s make this a GREAT list.

    Day 30 – Ireland – NFD
July just didn’t work out for me but I hope to be back on track for August.
So much going on and posting daily or even frequently was just not possible… sometimes in life it’s better to just take a step back and come back with resolve… I hope that others who have drifted away will be back on track soon too… 🤞thanks @ daffodil2010 for looking out for everyone during July!
@ktcaroline well done on offering to host. It really is very rewarding and also helps as,being the host, you tend to apply yourself to the WOL… it certainly worked for me 👍 and I was as nervous as you…
@gretta I was very sorry to read your sad news and I am thinking of you at this terribly sad time. 💕
    See you all in August!

    Day 30 – FD – UK

Many apologies to @daffodil2010 for not being very present during this challenge – not sure why but I have not been very focused on this WOL and I suspect my weight may have slid upwards – weigh in tomorrow will no doubt be a bit of shock but I have tried to get my mojo back by pressing my RESET button with a FD500 today. However I have been good on the exercise front and have built up on my strength work 💪

A big THANK YOU to @daffodil2010 for hosting July 🤗💐 see you next month!

Can’t fast tomorrow as I’m going to an 80th birthday celebration – been busy this afternoon making a Hummingbird cake for our birthday boy (our American friends will be familiar! – This cake contains cinnamon, bananas, pecan nuts and pineapple which sounds weird in a cake, but it’s so good! all surrounded in a smooth cream cheese frosting)

Just impossible to now catch up with everyone’s news so hope to catch up with you in the August Challenge that @ktcaroline is hosting for us.

And remember that “If I quit now, I will soon be back to where I started. And when I started I was desperately wishing to be where I am now.”

    Day 31, Aus, EFD

Well my mojo almost went walkabout but I managed to rein it back, thanks to yesterday’s egg fast. I do like the ricotta omelette and it was enough for me to feel positive and energised to do another EFD today. I am going out to a scrumptious restaurant tomorrow that does a 5-course degustation with matching wine (of course) so that scotched any idea of a normal Thursday FD for me. So Monday OMAD and Tues, Wed EFD should keep me on track.

Good words from @betsylee about taking the long term view – it IS a WOL and it will take time to adjust, but provided there is a decline in weight, it doesn’t matter (that much) if it takes a little longer.

So sorry to hear about your beloved grandma @gretta but so glad you got to spend time with her and she was ready to pass on when she did.

Welcome back @flourbaby! We missed you – sounds like you had a fabulously indulgent holidays and what is the reset button for if not to allow ourselves to enjoy life.
Thank you @ktcaroline for stepping up to host August. Having hosted June I can attest that it is really helpful to maintain one’s own accountability and mojo! And you’re right @jaifaim, sometimes it is better just to wipe yesterday’s (or last month’s) slate clean, and start afresh with the right mindset. August – here we come!!

    Day 30, VA, USA, FD

The heat has really struck me oddly as I am having a difficult time drinking enough water. Now I WAS on a pretty good relationship with water. But these last 2 weeks has been so difficult (and I’m not having anything else at the beginning of my days its just water, so its not like I’m stuffing my face, which I can tell – I totally WOULD.) I got a little bit snack-y last night. Lucily it was only 2 handful of nuts b/4 I was like HEY! YOU! – Remember that Peach you wanted to eat… Well eat it.

Funny enough I ate the organic peach from local farm (which was delightful btw) and was satisfied. Yay.

    @gretta – Awe, double hugs.

@daffodil2010 – oh my gosh solar panels would be sooooooo freaking awesome! Must look into this (even if it just ran a *new more efficient mini fridge*)

@yo-yo fletch – it is a tuna mix I WILL be making again. Easy, satisfying, AND to boot low in calories. No one here judges… I had to not indulge as often with my stouts. But I did find that I could have one or even 2 for the evening. Just not the whole weekend. Meaning F Sat & Sun. Nope I had to choose… So I switched my drink at least while I’m trying to lose. I’m hoping by maintenance I will be able to casually have a stout & as long as I’m doing my fasting I should be good.

    @debster251 – I like your glasses holder…Thats pretty spiffy.

@flourbaby – Welcome back! Mmmmmm I’d be doing the same thing on Holiday. Not fretting one bit about my drinks on a holiday.

Eeeeew got to cut short, will catch up later.

    Day 31 – Adelaide, AUS – FD
Last day, fast day. Almost made it to my goal for July, just 1/2 pound short. I’ll take it and look forward to continuing into August.
@yo-yo I’m eight weeks into this WOE/WOL and I have stuck to the 5:2 regime except when I was on holiday. It seems to work for me as I am 11 and 1/2 pounds lighter than when I started. I keep my calories below 500 on FDs and don’t count calories on NFD. I hope you find a rhythm that works.
    Onward and downward into August!

Day 30 Ohio, US — NFD (80 bites)

Well, I certainly ate way over my target. Not sure the reason, although it probably is connected to moving. I took another carload of items to the new place, but that involved me going non-stop until the evening. Definitely very tired now. I tried doing a little more packing mid-evening and probably pushed myself too hard. There were a few boxes of foodstuffs that only had one or two more servings left in them and I was in the middle of deciding whether to toss them or take them to the new digs. That’s when I slipped and just ate the remaining bits of food. Not my finest hour. Guess that means that instead of packing that food, or throwing it away, I’ll be wearing it around my waist. 🙁

@rabbette Good show on switching to the healthy snack. I definitely need to learn that from you.

    Day 31: Gloucestershire, UK, NFD:

Last day! No fast days, I’m afraid (as usual with me) but my weight remains stable. This morning it’s 63.8kg so, ok 10 kg more than it should be….but stable!

Here’s to the August Challenge (with grateful thanks to @ktcaroline)

Must fly…work beckons….see you later xx

    Day 31 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – FD

Last FD for July! Can’t believe how quickly this month has flown by. Final post with July results tomorrow.
I’m off to play a little roulette this afternoon. There’s nothing like gambling to take your mind off food ♠️

    Happy Hump Day! 🐫

    Day 31 – Ireland 🇮🇪 – FD

Last day! Fast day! Great little rhyme there @winsomewaif.

Going to make it a good one. Not going to reach !o they target again but will certainly end the month lower than I started and onwards into August.

I am kind of getting used to these extra 10lbs, it’s as if my body likes me being here, but no. If I decide to maintain at this weight then I know I don’t have any wriggle room and will be back in the 140’s and struggling. So will keep on keeping on.

It’s been a quiet month, but so happy to have the company of you guys on a daily basis. I enjoy my morning coffee and catching up. Looking forward to continuing this in August under the wonderful @ktcaroline.

I will post later, then the final weigh in tomorrow. No matter what, let’s make this a good day to have a good day.

Signing out of the July Challenge weighing in at 56.3kg above my 55kg target weight but with the month I have enjoyed I’m happy. I have been doing more exercise and including an increase in strength work so I feel good in myself ☺️

@gretta- I’m so sorry to hear that your dear grandma has died 🤗🤗

Congratulations to those who have lost weight and/or achieved their targets – to those who are struggling or stuck on that dreaded plateau – keep going and you will get there too.

See you in the August Challenge as TOGETHER WE ARE STRONGER!

    Day 31, London, UK, FD,

Another FD for me today, yesterday was OMAD but a little excessive on the calories as I ‘found’ (found = drove to shop & bought) a bag of tangy fizzy sweets ………………… they’re my ultimate willpower sucker, apart from wine & chocolate fudge cake of course!

Anyway, 500cal FD today and I’m going to mix things up a bit from now on, 2 days OMAD (23:1), 3 days 20:4 and 2 days 16:8, so today I’ll ‘break-fast’ at 11 am, lunch at 3pm and finish dinner by 7pm. Greek yoghurt for breakfast, a couple of babybel cheeses & cucumber for lunch and a veggie soup for dinner, I’m not sure if this will make me ravenous ALL day but I think I need to keep my body guessing!!

Final weigh-in tomorrow, but many thanks to @daffodil2010 for herding us cats this month, your egg-sploits were fascinating!! I know I was away for a huge chunk, but it’s looking like it was one of my better challenges ……………….. we’ll know for sure tomorrow!!

I look forward to seeing y’all over on the August challenge, thanks @ktcaroline for keeping us on track.

Day 31 – Stratford Upon Avon, UK – FD

    B2B2B

    Last day!!!!

@betsylee – I know patience is key and also trust in the plan. I do really want to succeed with this and make it a WOL. I’m trying so very hard to adapt and find my groove, funnily enough FDs are no problem, NFDs however require some mindfulness and fine tuning – I need to work on that. Because I have been on a ‘diet’ my entire adult life, I don’t know what ‘normal’ is when it comes to eating normally on NFDs. But, I know I need to cut myself some slack, enjoy the journey and most of all be kind to myself!
@winsomewaif – well done! you have done brilliantly! and I’m sure in time I will figure out what works for me.

Food for thought and a bit of a reality check – my daughter said to me “so you lost 4lbs this month, if you did that a month for 10 months you would have lost 40lbs” Sometimes it just takes someone to state the obvious…hahaha! Well! I’d be delighted with that!
I have to say I now feel like I have completely overreacted to my 2lb gain!!!

But…massive thanks again, you lovely lot, for your words of encouragement and advice – so very much appreciated.

    Happy FD Fasters!

    Day 31 Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 NFD

Last day of July already, where did the month go? A good month for me, FDs and exercise seem so much easier in the summer and I am maintaining a few pounds below goal which is ideal as it allows some scope for the more challengingly winter months ahead when I have to fight the urge to eat, sleep, repeat…..must be my inner bear 😉

@daffodil2010 thank you for hosting us 🌻 enjoy making new fabulous memories on your travels 🚐

Hope you’re all moving onwards towards your goals. Keep on keeping on taking it a day at a time and you WILL SUCCEED…..if a life long diet failure like me can make this WOL a success anyone can. If July hasn’t been your month just reset and move on into the August challenge.

Have a great last day of July 😎
