  • Day 13 | Sydney Australia | FD

    My second fasting day in a row, feeling good. If I stick with it today that will make 5 fasting days so far this month.

    I had ham, 2 tomatoes, and a couple of cheese sticks for lunch. About 280 calories.

    More miso soup this afternoon and I will see how it goes tonight.

    Scales not moving much, they are actually a little higher than at the start of the month. Turns out that eating huge amounts of junk food on the NFDs will do that to you – who would have guessed? Hopefully it’s mostly water weight due to all the sugar and salt that’s still in my system.

    Day 13 Australia – NFD
    Was really pleased with my food choices yesterday given the number of visitors staying with us and the dinner out. I also turned down all pastries and fried breakfast this morning and sipped determinedly on my black coffee!
    Later ate the scrambled egg out of a scrambled egg roll and have just had miso soup for lunch. Am going out tonight but already know what I will be able to eat to make this a good TDEE day.

    Day 13 – Nuremberg (temporarily) – NFD
    So yesterday wasn’t a disaster. Had blueberry and banana pancakes at the airport for breakfast and then just black coffee and water until I met my colleague for dinner. Just had a main course – rib eye steak but had 3 glasses of wine. Still, could have been worse. Yoghurt and coffee for breakfast this morning in the hotel and planning to skip lunch again to minimise the impact of another meal out tonight. If anyone has any spare willpower lying around feel free to send it over my way!

    Day 13 Mumbai, India NFD

    Hello @ Coda…I am unable to locate the July spreadsheet. Will appreciate your help.

    I have a quick question….
    My TDEE is around 1614cals/day, I consumed 607cals on day 11 & 587cals on day 12, will these days be counted as FD or CD.

    Thank you

    Day 13, UK, FD
    And of course my NFD killed off the weight loss. Fewer calorise eaten than my Fitbit tells me I expended, but I am up by nearly 3 pounds 😑

    Day 12- Montreal – FD
    Day 13- NFD

    Day13 UK FD

    FD went well yesterday. Fasted till 6pm from dinner the day before so almost 24 hours then had green salad with tomato and a very slender (110g) salmon fillet with veg. Some strawberries, blueberries and blackberries completed the feast! Didn’t count the calories but I’m sure well within a FD allowance.
    Another FD today, CD tomorrow and weigh in on Saturday.
    Enjoying all the chat around egg cups and marmite.!!

    @jisika I’d definitely log both days as FD. A FD can be anywhere between having liquids only, not eating, eating a 1/4 TDEE or eating up to 800 calories depending on how fast you want to lose or if you have a lot to lose. It really is flexible. A CD for me is chosing healthy foods and eating below TDEE. Everyone is different. The secret is finding what works for you and is sustainable in the long term. Eating 500 calories on FDs and being mindful, choosing healthy foods and controlling portions on NFDs worked for me. I lost 43 lbs and have been maintaining below goal weight for over two years.

    @Ciren happy anniversary.

    @bigviking i hear your frustration – my fitbit is way off on calorie expenditure ; this based on my experience of trying to lose weight by calorie counting 500 cals less than what my fitbit tells me that I have burned. I too was putting on weight πŸ™ I just use the tdee as per this website.

    Good luck πŸ™‚

    Day 13, CD, UK
    Just gonna stick to what I have been doing thus far cos it is working beautifully

    Have yourselves a great day!

    Day 13 UK NFD

    167.4 lbs. Under 12 stone! Yay:)) This despite yesterday’s fast diverting into a CD. Ate double what I intended and still lost two pounds. It is ridiculous how inconsistent weight loss is. Last month I would have gained eating like that. Perhaps my blood chemistry has shifted in some manner. I have realised that whenever I eat sweet potato curry I really need more food after it. There seem to be enough carbs in it to trigger hunger either that or it doesn’t have enough fat or protein in it and my body makes me go and eat some. It was yogurt, nuts and seeds and cheese I turned to afterwards. Once I had eaten them I was fine again and able to close the kitchen by six, so it was all within my eating window. I seem to be able to fast better when I tick all the nutritional boxes and include enough legumes and some cheese or yogurt at least a few nuts/seeds plus at least five veggies/fruit. If I don’t I get cravings and eat more. I can’t believe that I am nearly at July’s goal and it is only half way through the month! Happy dancing happening:)) Next step healthy BMI. Today it is 25.1…

    @bigviking I go by my TDEE on here on the sedentary level despite being quite active. Any higher and I would gain. I think my metabolism has been far too efficient for the usual numbers to apply. Maybe that is your problem? But I have had success with fasting at the higher 800 calorie level which compensates for being unable to each as much on non fast days.

    Day 13 – France – FD

    Feeling good, hope everyone else is too πŸ™‚

    Food sorted out for the day. Lunch: Miso soup, red cabbage salad & hard-boiled egg. Dinner: lettuce, shirataki noodles (konjac) with tuna

    @califdreamer I just love pickle. If you know chutney, it’s quite similar but no sugar and more vinegar. Yummy with curry! I make my own as I’m lucky to have a lot of fruit trees so try to process my crops in various ways
    @twinmam You’re right in trying to persuade your friend to opt for this WOL. I did WW a few years ago, paying for the online subscription. Met a lot of nice people and we’re still friends, but I felt as if Big Brother was watching over me all the time and guilt crept in whenever I hit naughties. Far prefer 5:2 personally
    @keetseel Here’s the link to the broccoli bread. It’s broccoli-ish (if you see what I mean). I love it that way, but imagine it could be replaced by cauliflower.
    https://makeandbakefromscratch.com/2013/04/18/broccoli-bread/

    Happy Thursday to all x

    Day 13 – UK – FD

    Circumstance meant I ended up eating 18:6 yesterday and when it came to my evening meal I wasn’t really that hungry. I think I may have been a little dehydrated too as the scales were slightly down this morning. Be interesting to see what the scales say tomorrow morning after today’s FD with plenty of water.

    @bigviking – sounds like you either have a water retention issue or you need new scales. Whatever the issue, it’s clearly not fat gain. What does the tape measure say?

    Day 13, Newcastle UK, FD

    Happy holidays @flourbaby & @debster251 – I hope you have a wonderful time!
    @fatrabbit – Woohoooooo!!! So exciting….
    Now I never knew the difference between pickle and chutney was no sugar vs sugar. I thought it was all the same stuff, just different names @laurealice. I need to explore that particular avenue of delight. Cheese & pickle – yum.

    Good night at Ceroc – some of Tuesday night’s excesses negated. Need to get serious now if I have any chance of making July’s goal, so a good FD today and 3 CDS Friday through Sunday should be a good start to the last two weeks of our challenge. We have to wait 4 weeks for our new shed to be delivered but now that the garden is underway, I NEED to visit all our local nurseries and garden centres to look for more plants. Because I look after gardens for customers, I have a clear idea of what I don’t want. So any suggestions on more unusual plants that will survive in the north east of England are welcome please.

    Another lovely day today – quite unlike the forecast shown on Sunday. It’s about time! Have a good Thursday whatever your plans for the day. Together we are Stronger.

    ps. @okeydokey – how are your feet?

    @onahealthyhigh
    Thank you. You made my day πŸ˜€…

    Farnborough, UK, NFD
    102.5Kgs
    Increased my water intake yesterday and slowly reducing the calories. Toilet frequency going up… Probably as a result of all the additional water… Might get to the stage (mentally) where I can consider an FD next week. Good luck to you all

    3rd post

    Very interesting article on the importance of Potassium.

    Day 13 FD North Wales
    Got on the scales this morning to find I am down 3lb since the beginning of the month despite being away for a week with little control over the food that was put before me. I am delighted πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰ I can’t wait to start to fit in some of my old clothes. Going into today’s fast day feeling very positive. Going to drink lots of water πŸ’¦πŸ’¦πŸ’¦πŸ’¦πŸ’¦

    Wishing everyone good luck today xxx

    Day 13, Northumberland UK, NFD

    Day 13 Wicklow NFD
    Yesterday was YS’so birthday and his house purchase was completed so a happy day for him.
    @keetseel and AnneMarilyn I think a trailer would be the right description.- yes keetseel you need to consider two things 1. The weight of the caravan and 2. The engine size.Β  In our case the car size is no issue because my OH is a petrol head! There is a lot of advice online and lots of dedicated magazines around. My young son lives a two hour drive away and up to now he’said had no spare bedroom but there’s a site close. (Where we are now) Caravanning is so great for seeing your own country cheaply and is great for small children.Β  They make brilliant friends. I’ll be bringing my grandkids if I ever get any!
    @laurealice yes please I’d love the recipe!
    Thanks @at yes my big challenge is marrying our regular trips (With a little more booze than at home!) with my WOL
    @califdreamer Pickle or chutney is a must have with cheddar cheese and crackers and yesLaurealice curry.Β  Mmmm! My next project is to make my own.
    Thanks for the article @califdreamer.Β  So here’s another consideration for the egg debate – do you ‘cut off’ the top or do you tapΒ  the top until you can peel off the pieces?Β  Me, I’m a tapper!
    @jisika I would consider around 500 cals a FD. Dr M suggested you could get away with 800 cals on a FD but I prefer to keep it as low as possible.
    @fatrabbit your success goes on and on!
    Thank you Strawberries for the link
    @molij We’ll done you!
    Lovely sunny day now so off to walk around the lake.Β  Have a good day everyone.

    Thank you @laurealice the link xo

    Day 13, Wales UK, FD.

    Meals planned and ready to fast. Have a good day everyone x

    Day 13 Newcastle UK FD.
    Hopefully work will be busy keep my mind off it. Graduation week at Newcastle University and Northumbria so lots of proud mams and dads spending money in the city this week πŸ’°πŸ’°πŸ’°πŸ’°πŸ’°πŸ’°πŸ’°πŸ’°πŸ’°.
    Off to off to read strawberriesandcreams article on the importance of potassium after my recent scare lol.
    Enjoy your day whatever you’re doing.

    Day 13 – Finland – FD
    Day 12 – NFD

    Ended up at around 465 kcal on Tuesday’s FD, so overall a successful fast day. I have yet to break my fast today, but will probably do so shortly, as I’ve soon fasted for 17 hours. I’ve read on some websites that it’s better for women to stick to 12-14 hour fasts (but then again, other sites claim that fasting only becomes beneficial after 14 hours for women, 16 for men), but I can’t say I’ve exactly suffered on longer ones either.

    @annemarilyn Unfortunately my ankle hasn’t healed yet. There’s still a lot of swelling making it very stiff, but I feel like it’s slowly mending – lately it’s been easier to do the therapeutic exercises I’ve been doing, and I feel like I’m regaining some of my usual flexibility. Yesterday I was able to balance on it (while standing on a pillow) for an entire commercial TV break, hahah.

    Day 13, South Wales, FD

    @bigviking and @msraven – interesting to hear about your Fitbit calorie counting and the errors. I found that mine was under-reporting calories so have gone to using MyFitnessPal app to count calories instead. There was a report on fitbit errors recently:
    http://www.nhs.uk/news/2017/05May/Pages/Fitness-trackers-calorie-measurements-are-prone-to-error.aspx

    Day 13, London, UK, Holi-Day.

    Not sure whether this will be a FD or NFD, like the next 2 weeks, I’m playing it by ear!!

    Haven’t had a chance to catch up since last night, so I’ll wish you guys a super-weight-eradicating couple of weeks and I’ll see you on the other side.

    Good luck everyone and keep on keeping on!!

    Day 13 – Cumbria UK – NFD

    Another lovely day here – early morning aerobic class – got rather sweaty then a flat white with the group afterwards sitting outside of a great local cafe.

    Home, showered, a quick catch up on the forum before going out for a manicure and pedicure! What a hard life!!!!!

    @califdreamer – great news on reaching a new low for you1
    @annemarilyn – not sure about being a great chef but I really enjoy cooking even if I don’t always get to eat the results…..Being able to enjoy good food and wine and keeping the weight off is what this WOL is all about for me plus all the health benefits I have gained since starting!
    @okeydokey – all good with you??? Not heard from you since Day 8 – Hope your feet are well on the way to recovery from the nasty sunburn you got πŸ€—
    @flourbaby – Have a fab holiday – catch up on your return x

    DD is taking me out for dinner tonight for a mother/daughter bonding time – feeling loved πŸ‘©β€β€οΈβ€πŸ‘©

    Day 13……Florida…..FD

    Today and tomorrow will be FD for me. Ended up having a really nice dinner last night but as I headed to bed and for most of the night. I had the worst stomach imaginable, so, doing a FD the next two days seems like a logical choice in calming my system.

    Big Viking…. you doing okay my friend?

    Steve toon…..potassium does millions of good things for our bodies. It should really be a banana a day rather than an apple a day. My favorite part about potassium in its incredible way to help those suffering from dehydration, heat stroke, etc. At work, they keep a bunch for our warehouse guys for who work in the heat. My mil eats one a day as well for her health.

    Debster….. I’m jealous….. my dream is to live in an Rv and travel the world! I’m planning on doing it once our boys find homes for themselves.

    Well, I’m off another day another dollar.

    At any given time the urge to sing the lion sleeps tonight is a whim away, a whim away, a whim away!

    @lynned @bigviking
    I use the fitbit now to gauge my activity as opposed to seeing how many calories I can consume in a given day.
    Like the article says, you’re not necessarily getting the correct information from technology πŸ™‚

    Day 13 – USA (Illinois) – FD

    Going to do an 800 calorie FD today. Having a quick supper with some church people, but will eat that one meal very carefully. Plus I always eat my daily apple for regularity. It works for me, and I was keyed into that by someone on this forum months ago! Yeah for keeping regular.

    My new computer is due for delivery today, so I will have some set-up time for that. Isn’t it always exciting to get new technology?

    Onward and downward!

    Day 13 USA NFD

    Day 13, Rocky Mountains, US, FD 800 cals

    3rd day maintaining. Still like to get rid of a couple more pounds so that I have room to play. 😊😊😊

    Day 13 -UK – NFD

    Day 13 – USA – NFD

    Good fast day yesterday. I like the idea of ADF Wed/Fri., so far so good. @hannahwatto and MoliJ, keep up the good work! @debster251, I lived in Dublin in the 70s and used to take the bus to Wicklow with the big sand dunes. It’s the first and only time in my life I ever got an actual tan! Is it the same Wicklow? Have a wonderful time; my OH and I have always talked about buying an RV and going all over the US; @flourbaby, enjoy your holiday!

    Day 12 | Cork, Ireland | FD
    Day 13 | Cork, Ireland | NFD

    Started 5:2 in August 2014 at 168lbs, target to lose 28lbs in as quick a time as possible, achieved it in 17 weeks. Planned maintenance range of 135-139lbs from January 2015 and comfortably met that. In February actual range reduced further to 133-136lbs. Goal to stabilise at under 132lbs and break through that elusive 60kg barrier!

    Fast forward (no pun intended since there was little fasting during this time!) to July 2017 and now need to lose 14lbs (which may or may not be due to medication). Mindset now in a place to go for goal and more importantly, stay there!

    Delighted to have completed a FD yesterday and have it reflected in the scales this morning. Look forward to chatting with you all for the rest of July and into future months.

    Day 13, Canada, FD

    Day 13 FD St. Louis USA
    My last fast day for this week. Running behind so no time to add myself to the pocket list but I’m there in my heart with you all. Need to catch up on last couple of days post. Scanned and looks like some interesting comments.

    I do have a question. Do I put the Vegemite in the fridge or is it OK out on the counter? I looked on the label and it didn’t say to refrigerate. Tried ia bit on my brown rice kale and sweet potato casserole last night. It was tasty

    Oh my best to all of you.

    Day 14 ( almost). CD country west Australia
    Have a 5am start and then no computer tomorrow.
    Had a reasonable FD today about 800 calories. Coffee and water all day, a mandarin and 3 strawberries for lunch. Steamed veggies and 60 g steak for dinner.
    The hunger dragon is growling but slaying it by going to bed soon.
    Off to Albany for the day and an early celebration for DH.
    The problem with this time of year is that I love to watch sport so watch Wimbledon – how well is Johanna Konta playing!
    Switch between the tennis and the Tour de France – fantastic scenery. Last night had the state of origin rugby between Queensland and New South Wales.
    Makes for some late nights.
    @ducks_d, thanks for the encouragement.
    I think my fat cells just love me too much and are just too full of themselves!
    Happy Friday all.

    Day 13 – McMinnville Oregon USA FD
    My FD yesterday was not a success. I’m feeling bad about my food choices but I know it doesn’t do any good to look back. Onward and downward!! I will be traveling today so I’m going to make it a FD. Looking forward to my holiday. πŸ“·

    @annemarilyn – You should definitely go to Crater Lake, it’s very beautiful and unique, worth the drive.
    @laurealice – Thank you for the recipe for Broccoli Bread, do you ever use something other than coconut flour?
    @molij – Your are an inspiration!!

    Day 13 – SW WA USA – NFD

    Had a decent FD yesterday but perhaps a few too many nuts in the evening. Scale is up a bit today. Will head to the gym to get things moving πŸ™‚

    @fatrabbit – Wow! You’re doing great!

    @flourbaby – enjoy your vacation!

    Having connectivity issues but look forward to checking out the recipe @laurealice & article link @strawberriesandcream

    Day 13 Massachusetts USA FD Today was not going to be a FD but my husband made hard-boiled eggs and toast before I got up so I decided to switch to today instead of tomorrow. @msraven You’re so right about technology. I generally hope everything averages out- if I’m taking in more than I record on a given day, hopefully on another day I’m taking in less. @redrockgirl302, I congratulated you yesterday using Caps in your handle and it didn’t link, so I’m trying it this way, Congratulations!

    Day 13 UK NFD

    Day 13 Akron OH. I feel motivated to try my first water fast. I will let you know how it works out.
    Just read an article about aspartame in flavored drinks. It causes increased belly fat because it raises blood glucose. I did not realise that!
    I recently picked up the habit of drinking flavored water on my fast days and just realised it’s flavored with aspartame. I feel rather goofy because here I was keeping my windows locked and opening my doors wide to the enemy. Boggles the mind.

    Our main computer has broken down so I’m having to use an unfamiliar lap-top. Forgive me if I don’t log in every day…
    Fast-days still eluding me. So I try to eat healthily instead, for now.

    Day 13, Gozo, Malta, nfd

    I had a McDonald’s burger with some chips this evening. I ate over my tdee today. Tomorrow I’ll fast.
