  • @flourbaby have I said something wrong 😂 ? When I say Day 22 it’s by 22nd day into this WOL! Glad it’s not just me battling the wine!! 🍷

Had a pretty good day today. Finishing on 600 cals. I over estimated my milk and soup but still I’m happy with the result!

Going to plank and do some yoga before bed to prevent me going into the kitchen!

    Goodnight all x

I can’t even hide behind wine,I have no idea what I was thinking! Oh boy!!!

Night night everyone, see you on day 19

Day 18 Ohio, US — NFD
    Day 17 — NFD
    Day 16 — NFD

Thursday after class I just felt completely wiped out and haven’t been doing very much except resting since then. Maybe it’s this incredibly variable weather, where it’s springlike one day and then colder than usual for winter the next. Today has been better, so I seem to be recovering back to normal.

@basyjames That’s great progress in just 3 weeks! Keep up the good work!

@jaifaim Another thing that can change a person’s cognitive functioning is if their sodium levels are off. My father thought my mother (who was then in her 80’s) was heading toward Alzheimer’s and so didn’t do much of anything about matters for quite some time. When she had blood work done and diet and medications adjusted to regulate blood sodium, surprise!, the cognitive problems all cleared up.

@songbirdme and @basyjames Hope you’re surviving the snow in good shape. In this part of Ohio, we just got freezing rain and a lot of wind. So far this winter we’ve had only 5 inches (12 cm) of snow, which must be some sort of record.

    Day 19 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – NFD

@flourbaby – I thought I’d entered the Twilight Zone after reading those dodgy posts!

    A nice quote for S🌞nday:-

“In a society that has you counting money, pounds, calories and steps, be a rebel and count your blessings instead”. – Lisa Heckman

    Day 19: Gloucestershire, UK, NFD:

@basyjames: Interesting and good results from your 3-day fat fast. If you like eggs, bacon and avocado, sounds worth a try….especially not counting calories and eating until full. Maybe you should try a fat fat twice a week instead of a 500 calorie FD?

Day off today…the first since last Sunday, as I worked my day off this week, to keep me out of mischief and away from the kitchen! There’s a hard frost outside, so I hope my old car will start later. But, at least not as cold (you say “warmed up” to -10C!) as in Canada, @bellyblast: Who knows? It’s probably about -1C here…Ha…ha!

    Day 19 – Cumbria UK – MFD

    Good morning everyone,

Really bright frosty morning, must be out for a longish walk sooner than later! Problem with cold frosty morning and walking is need to limit liquid intake before going out, strange how one small coffee can produce so much pee on a cold walk!!!

@at – Nice result this week, makes the effort worthwhile. Concerted effort needed for me over these next few days.

    Take care all

    Day 19 – NFD – Ireland
    🚫✅🤸‍♂️
Fasters, Dry Januarians, plankers, squatters and sugar quitters stay strong 💪 ….. apparently today is the day most of us will give up on our resolutions…. we can do this…
Slightly bumpy on the sugar front this weekend but that’s ok!
@matpi that’s a really good point re; sodium! My friend’s mum has the same problems but all ok now 👍
    Happy Sunday all – it’s a very frosty one here… ❄️

    Day 19, London, UK, NFD,

Another NFD for me but the last 2 have been soooo controlled I’ve hurt my wrist from polishing my halo!!!!

@caroline-esty-akporokah, no you haven’t done anything wrong, but as it’s a monthly challenge we use the days of the month to keep track otherwise everyone would be on a different day …….. I would be on Day 1032-ish! When we start February you’ll be back to Day 1 with the rest of us, so starting your post with today’s date means we’re all on the same page, in the same boat, on the same pocket list ………………………… and basically not thinking we’ve lost or gained days perhaps due to a sugar rush or wine haze!!!!

Way to go @basyjames, if I could manage to stomach eggs I would give it a go simply based on your results!!!

@funshipfreddie, I love that quote!!……………………. Guilty as charged I’m afraid!!

@jaifaim, NOBODY is falling off the wagon today, hold fast to the fast!! Just think of those skinny jeans or bikini …………………. Yes, even you @funshipfreddie, @dykask, @i-hate-lettuce & @therealwil78 ……………………. Perhaps think of a mankini???

To my fellow Dry-Januarians don’t be tempted today, Sunday lunch does NOT require any boozy accompaniments!!!

“A river cuts through rock, not because of its power, but because of its persistence.” – unknown

    Day 19 Canton OH CD

I love this forum, what fun posts to wake up to. Belly laughs all around

@jaifam & @flourbaby agreed no wagon falling or jumping off. It’s simply not worth it, theres been too much hard work involved in climbing on and finally beginning to see progress to chuck it all. Nothing tastes that good!!!!

@matpi that’s interesting, sodium? Wow! We also had snow and freezing rain in NE Ohio yesterday. It was pretty, and the first real snow fall of the season. Shovelling our drive way gave me a good workout which I appreciated.

@ciren that’s a thought, but I don’t think I would enjoy fat fasting twice a week over the long term, it’s more like a jumpstarter or plateau breaker to get me on track.

    @funshipfreddie, @dykask, @i-hate-lettuce & @therealwil78 ready to take on @flourbaby‘s mankini challenge? 🙂

    Enjoy your Sunday people!!!

    Day 19 USA (Illinois) NFD

Bright and frigid here this morning with the new snow. Off to play piano at church shortly.

@matpi – I would much prefer snow over sleet or freezing rain. Our little village is 15 minutes from “real” town, so always have to drive in it.

@funshipfreddie – love your quote, too. Such positivity!

@i-hate-lettuce – enjoy your walk on your frosty day.

@jaifaim – hadn’t heard there is even a day when it’s been determined people give up resolutions. NOT US HERE! We are resolving to change!

@flourbaby – polish that halo all you wish! We’re with you admiring the gleam. 🙂

    Onward and downward.

    Second post day 19

@basyjames – Mankini, nooooo, did used to favour skinny dipping when younger though!

@songbirdme – it was rather cold and frosty this morning, managed four miles without a stop though! LOL ….

@flourbaby – keep on polishing, think how many calories you can burn doing that every day!

    Day 19 Canada NFD

Those super annoying scales are stuck 🤦‍♀️I’m fine with slow though and am going to hang in there.
I’m not that far off my goal weight which has been a bit of a problem in the past. Near enough is good enough has been ok. I’m using a pair of 👖keep me honest 💪
@basyjames the fat fast sounds really interesting. I’m going to reread @flourbaby link
Most of a bottle of 🍷🍷would have been me in the past @flourbaby but I’m a 💪💪 Dry Januarian now

FD for me tomorrow. Today I’m going to control 🍽 and add some 🧘‍♀️🚶‍♀️

    Day 19- Cork,IE – NFD

    Happy Sunday everyone!

I finished a 40 hour water fast this morning and I found it quite doable, I was hungry around the 24 hour mark but kept myself busy and it passed thankfully. I have been rereading the obesity code and I think I am going to try alternate day fasting for a while in order to see what suits my body best. The plus side is it saves me having to cook for myself and reduces the food bill! I have spent a lot less money on food this month so far and it has been a freeing experience to be honest!

I broke the fast with a brunch with my friend in a lovely 5 star hotel. We got a morning deal which included brunch/yoga and pilates. I had yummy eggs benedict followed by 90 minutes of yoga and pilates. There was also a talk from a performance coach around goal setting and there were some questions she encouraged us to think about when defining our goals:
    1. What experiences do I want to have in this lifetime?
    2. How do I want to grow?
    3. How do I want to contribute?

She also spoke about end goals versus means goals and I thought some in the group may be interested in this topic. I have found a short blog which covers this in a bit more detail

    https://heleo.com/vishen-lakhiani-step-step-guide-setting-goals-youll-actually-achieve/8549/

I was thinking about my end goals during the session and the more I read about fasting, the more I see it as a way to improve my quality of life and protect my health as I get older. Framing it this way rather than as a goal to lose 4 stone is a greater motivator and will save me from being critical of myself when things don’t go as planned. I am down a stone in weight since Christmas but even more encouraging is that my trousers are a lot looser around my thighs and my waist is slowly reappearing!

@basyjames and @at congrats on your results, the loss on the scales is great but the inch loss is better in my view as it means I can get back into nicer clothes again!

@bellyblast, @songbirdme thanks for the welcome back after my few days’ absence. The forum is a great opportunity to check in for accountability and to support/cheer each others’ progress.

@suki2 your posts on decorating are gearing me up mentally for some decorating I have to do around the house and I need to plan this into my schedule. It would be a great opportunity on a fasting day as it would keep me occupied!

Enjoy the rest of your evening wherever you may be and remember “nothing changes if nothing changes” 😀

Day 19 Oregon NFD + plank
Day 18 CD + planks (threw in some modified side planks to mix it up)
    Day 17 FD + plank
    Day 16 NFD + plank
Day 15 CD + plank (done at 10pm, I didn’t go to the gym and somehow remembered at the last minute)
    Day 14 FD + plank

I’ve not gone missing from the forum, but it appears that my Thursday post did, hence the long list here!

It has been a good week, I’m happy to be down another 1.5 lbs. I’m grateful for any loss, as I sat on a frustrating plateau for a long time.
What went well: Fasting, exercise and planks:)
What went better than last week: water intake…still room for improvement as in I don’t want to be drinking the bulk of it in the evening so that I can sleep better.
What still needs improvement: Daily posting (ha, it won’t take much to improve that) and food choices on NFDs. I managed to evade an EFS day this week, but I have to say I find FDs easier to navigate than NFDs, which I think fits with what others have experienced…

@flaquita, your brunch with yoga and Pliates sounds fantastic! I wish some venue would put that on here in Portland, I’d be there!! Thanks also for sharing the info about goals, very interesting and helpful.
Haven’t had time to read through many posts, but will have later today.
Although I’ve not been much of a poster, I really so appreciate this forum.
    Happy Sunday!

    Day 19 – UK – NFD

Just back home from seeing 1917 – brilliant film – highly recommend!

Yesterday ended up a good CD (just over 1000cals) and did a 10km hike on the fells near me – was a beautiful sunny day although cold.

Today colder and not much sun but remains dry so no complaints – went out for lunch with a friend, it did include a large glass of Rioja but managed to make today a OMAD and remained within my TDEE.

Early morning Broga class with OH tomorrow so off to bed as that alarm will go off at 6am 😴

    Day 20, FD, Aus

Hello @caroline esty-akporokah – we start the day with the day of the month wherever in the world you are (not the number of days you’ve been doing 5:2 which for some people would be in the hundreds!) So in Australia now it’s the 20th of January (hence my post begins “Day 20”), but if you are in the northern hemisphere posting at the same time, it might still be the 19th for you, in which case you would start your post “Day 19”. Hope that makes sense!

Had a laugh this morning in the office toilets. I was doing my 10 squats before using the toilet (can’t remember who suggested doing this exercise but it’s such a great way to incorporate it into the day. Thanks!) On the back of the toilet door was a “washroom etiquette” poster advising people, among other things, to flush, not use your mobile phone and “do not squat on the seat”.

    Have a good Monday everyone.

Day 20 country west Australia FD
    Day 19 NFD
    Day 18 EFS day
    Day 17 NFD

We were given a generous voucher fort a beautiful restaurant in Denmark ( west Aus) so on Saturday we availed ourselves of the voucher. My DH and I spent 3 hours eating our way through a platter with enough food to feed a small country!!
Then we met friends unexpectedly and drank our way through enough wine for a small country!!! ( we’re talking a really really small country of course!)
Needless to say it’s going to have to be a few good FDs this week to repair the damage as there was NO exercise involved for over a week…..
@flaquita, I agree that sometimes inches are more motivating than weight loss. I currently have only 2 pairs of trousers that fit me comfortably, so aiming to be able to lose enough centimetres to use the rest of my clothes by June.
    Have a good day all.🤞

    second post
Just catching up with some of the posts and noticed the one by @dyask and others re fruit.
My father was a mature onset Type II diabetic, many years ago when sugar was the bogeyman though things have since changed.
Dad LOVED his fruit and was seeing a diabetic specialist.
    Dad was limited to 2 – 3 pieces of fruit a day, mainly apples/ pears/ berries/citrus.
He was allowed to have bananas occasionally. He was only to have 1 slice of watermelon or a few grapes sparingly during the week as these were so high in concentrated sugars.
Dad loved dried fruit ( apricots/ peaches/ apples etc )but was again only allowed to have a few 1-3 pieces sparingly due to high sugar content. Ditto raisins/ sultanas/ currants.
I think that is why some health recommendations are 2 serves of fruit 5 series of vegetables per day.
Personally I think that fruit is healthy and probably a much better option than many other foods but beware the fructose ( sugar ) in fruit! Apparently the sugar is still sugar for the body.

    Day 20 – Japan – WFD #5

As @at pointed there is a lot of flexibility in how we fast. Yesterday I ran across the youtube video which I can’t find now but it is one this topic: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=intermittent+fasting+new+england+journal+of+medicine+

Also here is an article: https://www.insider.com/intermittent-fasting-slows-aging-cancer-diabetes-heart-disease-study-2019-12

The gist is that it may be the metabolic switching that occurs when we repeatedly fast that provides many of the health benefits. While I don’t have access to read the actual article yet, there are a lot of people that have read it and are reporting about it. The interesting thing is pretty much all forms of intermittent fasting seemed to work.

The video I watched talked about how animals on calorie restricted studies are actually intermittent fasting because they tend to eat all of there food at one setting. I suppose there could be labs that give animals multiple tiny meals, but I think most would do only one feeding a day as each feeding can be a lot of work. The video also mentioned that repeated metabolic switching makes it easier to do. That rings true with my own experiences. My first 24 hour fast was a major deal to get through, now I hardly notice I’m fasting at 24 hours!

@lilymartin a lot of people believe the fructose in fruit is a major problem. That is likely based at just looking at the sugar contents and not the actually impact. There is even evidence that the fructose in fruit can’t easily be absorbed because of other compounds in fruit. However it is still controversial.

For myself I have experimented a lot and find that I do better with a lot of fruit in my diet. It isn’t cheap in Japan, but health is important. I used to be per-diabetic and at that time I wasn’t eating very much whole fruit. Now I probably eat 5x as much as I did then and I don’t have any blood glucose issues and also my blood pressure is lower. However I do have problems with added refined sugar. Now that I’ve avoided it for years, I can really feel when I have something with too much added sugar. For me it is the sugar that is either added to things or processed food with added sugar that is a major problem.

    Day 20: Gloucestershire, UK, NFD:

One thing people say about fruit is that, these days, fruit is bred to be much sweeter than it used to be….but eaten whole, raw and not dried, is still fine.
@flaquita: 40 hours? That was a good fast. Especially water-only.
@penz: For me it would still be Day 0….ha…ha! But…hey…
@caroline-esty-akporokah: So, yes, just go with the current date of the current challenge month.

I have to get out into the frosty weather and (hopefully) start my car, and drive to work now. Makes a change from the incessant rain we’ve been having for months!

    Day 20 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – FD

Lovely rain over the weekend, at last! A ‘cool’ 20°C right now. Going to the gym this morning, first time in 2020! 🏋️‍♂️

    Day 20, London, UK, NFD,

Another NFD and it hasn’t started out as controlled as the other 3 have been (reward/sabotage syndrome perhaps!) anyway, I’ll show some restraint for the remainder of the day, hopefully it’ll be easy if I drown any tummy dragons with lots & lots of water …………… if it isn’t, I only have myself to blame for releasing the dragon WAY too early!!!

@daffodil2010, you and I always seem to be travelling on the same path, plateau, weight gain, frustration!!! Yep, I’m with you there, at least we know there’s no other option but to keep on keeping on. This WOL DOES work, just ask @basyjames & @flaquita. Today’s task is 3L water or more and there better be a whoosh by Wednesday, or else!!!

@lilymartin, everything is relative, so I guess for you Aussie’s enough wine for a small country could mean France!!!!

Happy fasting folks …………… Keep the faith, there’s no alternative that actually works or allows you to eat cake too!!!!

    Day 20, UK, FD

    Day 20 Melb Aust NFD

Had lots of NFDs lately, but reaching the end of the entertainment cycle. I’d hoped it would be done by January 1st, but there have still been stacks of folk to catch up with, and that means eating. Maybe a smidgen ( 🙂 ) of lack of self control in there, too?? I’m tired of myself, and will change this upward trend as of Tuesday (tomorrow).

Much better frame of mind this week, thank goodness. I think the bright blue sky helps.
Early yoga class also helps, setting intentions for the week ahead.

Off to French conversation class in a minute, then walking the dog. So no time for snacking.

I had a controlled weekend after my fat fast. That’s a win and I am very happy.

Once again @flourbaby thank you for the links. They helped refine my vision, strengthened my resolve and gave me tools to succeed. The scale will cooperate I promise you

@dykask I found the youtube vid you were referring to and that is some interesting information! Thanks for sharing. I showed them to DH and he’s agreed to commit to 16:8 TRE for the benefits starting today
I also have to agree about the fruit, I have never felt funny after eating an apple even when I am restricting sugar in my diet. Usually after periods of sugar denial, I can actually feel the sugar rush when I eat a pastry or some other refined-sugar-laden offering, and that has never happened with an apple or even an orange which is much sweeter

    @flaquita way to go!!!

    Day 20 USA (Illinois) NFD

Luncheon meeting today at a local Italian restaurant. Will do my best to eat mindfully! DH has what must be the flu, so taking care of him as well. 🙁

@angrypony – NFD’s are often all of our downfalls. They are the ones that can sabotage our WOL. Eating with care is the only way to make it.

@at – love movie reviews! Thanks for your input on “!917” – I had heard the same.

@penz – potty etiquette? Adorable. I know quite a few places that use the back of toilet stall doors to post information, news, upcoming events, and even attack prevention help for women.

@lilymartin@dykask – most interesting discussion about fruit. My DH loves almost all fruit, and yes, the sweeter the better. I do have to watch what I buy for him.

@betsylee – “entertainment cycle” can indeed be a reason to keep away from fasting. Hope you’re able to get back with us!

@suki2 – do you plan to travel and use your French conversation? I admire anyone who learns language skills.

    Day 16 FD

I’m here I’ve been lurking as I’ve been in contemplation (a friend has experienced the passing of her mom and 3 weeks later unexpectedly her dear sweetheart)

Many Errands to run today, so the fast and swift of my diet. Last week managed 3 FDs but the 4 NFDs crept me back up (not as high of a number on the scale as last week but up a good bit more than I wanted)

Had my DH work event to attend this past weekend and I can feel the errors of my ways 😉 whew. The start of this FD is feeling a bit rough (I have the uneasy feeling tho, so I hope a cold/flu is NOT lurking… maybe the FD will kick its butt!)

@basyjames – yes black coffee and a dash of cinnamon (sometimes I do a dash of nutmeg) it is delightful and simile.

@daffodil2010 – the detox tea can and will have that awesome run to the loo effect. If you need something warm try just some hot water with a slice of orange (or really any citrus in it). Just read 2 minute plank right on gal! *had to try for myself and went to my “happy place at the 1 minute mark” made it safely to 1.5 minutes (that last 30 seconds I’ll need to build up to)

Greetings to the rest of the gang you are always with me.

Be back tomorrow when I will be happily eating again!

    hi everyone

    NFD Day 20 😊

Had a disastrous weekend and went over on my fast on Saturday but back in form today ending below my BMR and had a foot boot camp session at the gym followed by half an hour of yoga!! Lots of water has defo helped me today!

Thanks @ Penz and @ FlourBaby @ciren2! It all makes sense now. Sorry for the confusion!!

Hahaha don’t squat in the seat made me laugh! Asides the plank I may start doing squats before every toilet trip however the 3 litres of water I am trying to intake may mean I am in the lo all day and work would get neglected lol but is I will try!

@at thank you for the articles references. I will have to look into these and take notes.

Take a look at Dr Jason Fung youtube…a lot of informative info on why intermittent fasting has so many health benefits!! they all come up… lots of different aspects.

Off to do plank and some more yoga to help me relax before bed.

    Goodnight all x

Great FD yesterday. Thanks for putting me on the pocket list @funshipfreddie! Had a lunch time hunger attack but thought of you all and how bad I’d feel if I needed to ‘confess’ so I fought through it. Got that PFDS today!
Decided just to have eggs today (good thing I like ‘em).

Crazy weather / natural calamities continue Down Under. Yesterday we got hit by an intense, very localised hail storm. Fortunately me and mine were unaffected but so many people have suffered damage (smashed cars, destroyed gardens, broken windows, leaking rooves etc). At least today is clear skies and no smoke haze. I’m reminded of that classic bush poem “Said Hanrahan” whose refrain was “We’ll all be rooned”.

I think they’ve had some much needed rain in Melbourne, @ciren2 and the smoke haze that interrupted the tennis has dissipated. Not sure if you’re aware, but Melbourne has the reputation of having four seasons in one day – it can rain in the morning, be warm and brilliant at midday, then grey and windy in the afternoon.

    Day 20 – UK – FD800

A great start to the day with an early morning Broga class with OH, a light lunch out with a group of regular volunteers and an evening yoga class to end the day!

My bed beckons – feeling rather 😴

    2nd post

@caroline-esty-akporokah & @penz – haha Do not squat on the seat… Well what they don’t know won’t hurt them. Teehehe

Day 21 country west Australia NFD
Feeling very virtuous with myself after a successful FD yesterday and a 900 gm loss on the scales. Probs just water weight but hey…..😇
@daffodil2010 and @flourbaby, oh that dreaded plateau!!!! I sat there for SSSSOOOOOOOOO long a few years ago and instead of being patient I fell, or leapt with much gusto, off the wagon and …. well….. let’s just say I now have 3 times as much weight to lose to become much healthier!!! ☹️☹️
@dykask, I really love fruit and eat quite a lot because of it’s nutrition and I like the taste and because it is a much better option than many other foods but it is interesting to hear the various debates about sugar/ sources of/ how much etc. And the various forms – fructose/glucose/galactose/sucrose.
I find that I am back to taking an apple with me on FD so if the hunger dragon rears it’s ugly head, I eat an apple. Satisfies cravings and still gets me in under 500 calories – just! 🍎😇
I had a good FD yesterday but oddly enough about 5 pm my brain was telling me I should eat something. Honestly, my stomach felt fine and I didn’t feel hungry but my brain kept telling me I WAS hungry! Very weird.
Maybe it was the leptin or ghrelin ?? Don’t really recall having this feeling before when fasting. 🤔
@rabbette, sorry to hear of your friend’s loss.
Will spend today TRYING not to sabotage yesterday’s good work.🤞
2 haloes in one post is a bit OTT but trust me, from where I’ve been over the past few years it’s acceptable!

    Day 21 – Japan – NFD

My water fast day was easy. ~38 hours, could have gone more. I think the secret to easy fasting is just practice. After a few hundred fasts it gets easier. Some people probably adapt a lot faster than that.

My weight is hanging in under 80kg. I’ve actually cut back on the dried fruit as it is mostly for favor and increased the amount of rolled oats. What happens is the oats are very slow to digest and I end of feeling full for hours. In fact my lunches have been becoming lighter, sometimes just a salad. While I’m not worried about calories, it is surprising how few calories a salad has if you skip salad dressing.

I’m still enjoying my 130g of frozen blueberries. I’m hoping they cover a up other food sins. 😀 I tend to over react and my hot button with fruit is when it is just equated to candy. No one here is doing that, but it seems to be a pretty common theme, especially in the low carb world.

I think it is the fiction element that really bugs me. Low carb diets replace one fiction with another. The fiction of calorie counting is replaced with net carbs. Our bodies don’t count calories and nothing inside of us as a concept of net carbs. These fictions are so common in the diet world. I’m going to stop now … I’m on the verge of starting to rant!

Anyway fasting works and that isn’t a fiction to me.

Random post: For some reason do not squat on the seat makes me think of the proverb ” poop or get off the pot” which makes ne giggle uncontrollably. Ok, I confess, I’m getting slap happy – time to hit the sack. Nighty night, see you on day 21

Day 20 Ohio, US — MFD
    Day 19 — NFD

Just a quick check in to say that the fasting went well, even with a hectic day.

@dykask Your comments on diet fictions are right on!

Hope the work week has been off to a good start!

hee hee @basyjames. In all seriousness though, the direction not to squat on the toilet seat is aimed at those from a cultural/societal background who use squat toilets. I used to work in Malaysia and in our work area we had Western-style toilets, not squat toilets, and employed many locals. In one terrible situation, a local woman squatted on the ceramic toilet seat (how she managed I don’t know) and it broke badly lacerating her inner thigh.

    Day 21 – CD – Ireland
    🚫✅🤸‍♂️
Found yesterday’s FD the hardest this month… still heading downward slowly but what happens is that over the weekend the weight goes up again after the losses during the two weekly fast days..which is to be expected…. but I need to watch out for weekend sabotage…
Planking going well (1m45) and @flaquita I’m now following your lead with the squats 👍 great idea!
    Onward and downward ⬇️
We rise by lifting others 💕

    Day 21 – Ireland 🇮🇪 – FD
    Day 2 of Fat Fast

Yesterday’s Fat Fast went very well, although I didn’t realise how restricted the food groups were and had bought a load of mackerel instead of the recommended sardines or salmon. Still, it has done no harm and I am down 2lbs overnight.

I have egg salad for lunch and will pop to the shops to get Spinach and olives to go with and will buy an avacado to have later. I have never bought an avacado, nor ever prepared one would you believe?…. Sardines for evening meal. Luckily I enjoy most of the Fat Fast food….except never tasted macadamia nuts either and feel ill at the thought of eating butter or ghee straight up or in coffee 😲

@penz that is very interesting about the squat toilets and one that I would never have thought about being from the western world. Goodness me!!!!

@dykask yup, diet fictions, there are far too many. When I was on the Dukan Diet all fruit was restricted for the weight loss phase, and even now I don’t eat as much fruit as I used to. But, I do get a sugar rush from apples and bananas so pribably best to keep off them.

@rabbette good to have you back. Sorry about your friend.

@flourbaby…sisters-in-arms we are, let’s hold each other up and keep on keeping on.

And @lilymartin I appreciate you sharing your story as I have been plateauing and gaining weight for the past year ((pre-menopause I suppose) and yes, I have felt the urge to hurl myself off saying “What is the point?”…. But I do know what the point is, health, health, health, so thanks for hauling me back in line.

    Pocket Lust Day 21
    @daffodil2010
    @penz

@daffodil2010 – watch out when preparing your avocado. The only time I’ve had stitches was when I was trying to get a stone out of an avocado and slipped. The nurse sewing me up said it was very common to cut yourself that way. Look at a YouTube video first!! There’s an easy way to get the stone out, and a lethal way.
Leaving Rome tomorrow for Naples. It’s been just great here. Sunny nearly every day, not too much eating so weight up a bit but trying to be sanguine about it. Easy on, easy off. Isn’t that right? Fingers crossed.
