  • Hi, I am a 40 year old software professional and more or less lead a sedentary life style. I am quite obese and on doctor’s advise I am trying to shed weight. I am looking for advice from u guys as to how i can achieve a weight loss of around 10 kgs in a span of 4- 5 months.

Hello, itzdeb, what kind of reading have you done about 5:2? I found the book very helpful. I also highly recommend you read Dr. Jason Fung’s The Obesity Code or his website (https://intensivedietarymanagement.com/) to understand why “calories in/calories out” and low fat diets do not work. And why intermittant fasting does. 5:2 will give you some good information but Fung adds to it.

10kg = 22 lbs. That’s about one pound a week. That is quite achievable. You will find you lose more than that the first week or so, but will then taper off.

In addition to calorie counting, many find success by eliminating sugar, except for the sugar that is naturally in whole fruit. NO juice. White flour is a killer too. Others will chime in with their suggestions, I’m sure.
