First Day

    It’s my first day on the 5:2 diet. It was recommended to me by some family and I can see it fitting in to my lifestyle quite well.

    I am busy reading as much information as I can to get the best results for weight loss and for my health in general.

    I’m a 43 year old english lady living in Australia. I am 170cms and currently 95kg. The most I have weighed is 110kg (weighed) and maybe 120kg (suspected, completely in denial and would not get on scales). I have been down to 79kg using weight watchers, but they changed it and I hated it and so on went the weight. I also found it focussed a bit on processed foods, something I am trying to leave out of my diet if I can, particularly artificially sweetened foods and their own products.

    I am quite active, I exercise 3-4 times per week, Gym – weights and cardio, tennis, walking, cycling. So I know my weight is all about the food.

    So far today I have had a soy latte coffee (something I might not be able to give up…quite yet) and peppermint tea. I have some lettuce, tomato and tuna in a paked lunch container just in case i feel the need to eat while at work, and nothing else planned for the day. I just want to see how I go.

    I would love to hear from any one who is very new so that maybe we can share experiences along the way.

    hello! I’m pretty new also – 3 weeks into doing 5:2. I was surprised how easy the fast days have been. This week it has been much harder, because I’m coming up on that time of the month. But I’m hanging in there. Welcome to the journey!

    Today is my second fast day. I am well prepared. I have bought some nice coffee bags to have a nice long black with no milk to save on the calories. I have prepared my lunch of salad and tuna and I will have the same for dinner. I am hoping to push out my lunch to really late as I think I will find it easier, as I seem to get ‘hungry’ late in the day (I think this is a boredom thing).

    I have been so ill since i lat wrote anything on the forum, with the worst flu/chest infection I have had in years! I have not managed to fast as my head was just not in the right place, I just wanted to get better and it took all of my focus to do just that. Having said that, My appetite did dissappear a little bit and so on the whole, I think I ate less food while i was ill.

    I am still not 100% and so I am going to wait until next week before attempting another fast day as I don’t want to fail and then be put off of the whole process. I do not deal with failure very well and it can swing me in to huge bouts of binge eating.
