  • Newby just caught you post so we can gang up together for FD!

Hey up Bev and Newby Xx

Pull up them big drawers … you can do it.

Off shopping ( to get tweeny knickers) Lol in my dreams.

Have a good day both. Xx

    Hi fellow brits

Good luck for today, hope you enjoy it feast or not…

    Enjoy yourself

    Audrey

    Crisis

Not feeling too good. Sneezing and coughing again and of all the things fancy a mature cheddar cheese sandwich with pickle. What to do? Give in and do FD tomorrow? This is not just a fancy, it is a big desire! First time since doing this but feel I NEED IT. Big time.

I shall wait for approx. 10 mins if possible for a reply from anyone. This is an imminent problem!!!!!!

The cheese looks and smells amazing.

    Hi Bev

Either put it away, which is denying yourself, not a good thing with a cold. Especially as you feed a cold and starve a fever.

5:2 is not about denying yourself or stressing yourself, so make a plan!!!! If you eat it, you have to plan how to make up the calories, and you have to decide whether what you are going to give up is worth the cheese.

Or, you can plan it for another day.

When you eat it, and you can, cos it’s food and its on your plan and nothing is denied or forbidden. Then give it your full attention, savour it and tell us about it.

Now, can you do this lovely piece of cheese justice with a cold and sniffles. When your taste buds and smell are not at their best. Is it fair to you or to the cheese.

Me – easy – wouldn’t eat it – in fact would chuck it in the bin.

    Then again, I hate cheese!!!!!

Well, threatened to go as a witch, the black wig makes me look like a witch, and I can always leave the tooth veneer until next week, but Gomez would be odd without morticia. Then threatened to go with just the wig as lady Godiva, gawd help us all, but pondered if I had time to borrow a horse from my sister, and worried it might escape from the back garden – anyway, he finally went to attic and found my dress. And a brilliant wolf’s head! Amazing what you find in attics.

Tried on the dress, last worn 22 years ago on my honeymoon.

    Drum roll……..

Bloody tight but got into it. Put on the Kardashian spans knickers and, well, a bit Jessica rabbit – well actually more Roger rabbit – or daughter of Jessica rabbit and the Michelin man.

But, – I’m going out in it. Most people will be strangers, everyone will be more concerned about their own costumes, by the time we get back and go to neighbours party will hopefully be too drunk to care!!!!

And no one will look past the awful wig anyway!

Milena, thank heavens you have got your dress sorted. So many are waiting with baited breath about your Halloween party!

Get your point on the cheese. I had to have 2 buttered crumpets with 2 slices of mature cheddar between and it was orgasmic…….jeeze…I can only deny myself so far and this is my first real transgression.

Hope your party goes really well. Have mental pics of you!!!!

    FD tomorrow for me.

Good to hear you are human Beverley – I know I shouldn’t laugh but could just picture the crumpets! 🙂

    Sorry have been busy today..

Glad the cheese crisis is over. I agree with milena have what you fancy in moderation,

Glad morticia outfit fits you milena shame we can’t see a picture. …

    Audrey

Oh my goodness Bev … what are you like. There’s me eying up cheap tiny knicker jobs for us and you are scoffing cheese in crumpets. Lolol

I must confess cheese on toast is one of my favourites too. when that urge for something tasty and savoury hits you … nothing else hits the spot.

Like Milena says .. nothing is banned its just the art of compensating as I see it on a daily basis. Feast or famine.

Have another go tomorrow The main thing is getting that cold nipped in the bud. If a bit of cheese and crumpets help so be it. Xx

How’s it going with you Newby Xx

Milena you do brighten up the day. x

So glad you found your outfit. Wow just imagine you wore that 22 years ago and can still get into it. What a wonderful achievement .. not a lot could do that I bet. Careful around those bacon sarnies till Saturday. LolXx

    Hi all

Fasting day 4 gone well and have now had my quota for the day and feeling fine.

My first big goal is to stick to it until Christmas and if I lost a stone by then, I would be ecstatic and starting to think seriously about the tweeny niks – well, leaving off the’ control panel’ anyway! X

Seriously thinking of posting one – I have some nice photos wearing it in Paris all those years ago – BUT – the wig is truly awful and I would need to find a big tree to hide behind.

I’ll send the hair shirt Beveley – orgasmic? Cheese?

    How are you doing Audrey?

Four fast days done – and I think I’ll do a no liquid liquid day tomorrow – in my head this dress was a bit A line, its a bloody sheath! Found another one I haven’t worn for 25 years, another black velvet one, short with a silk tartan skirt, netting and a bare back – with a wee bow so you could still wear a bra. I did love that frock – doesn’t fit! Talkig of bras, think I need to go braless in the dress, which is ok as it hugs well, but no dancing then!

Newby, well done gal – if I can get a stone off between now and Christmas I’d be delighted too!! Here’s hoping!

    Hi all

What wonderful posts to catch up on!

Milena..your outfit sounds fabulous! Hope you have a brilliant evening 🙂 can just picture you!

Beverley..well done on resisting and not going the whole hog! Your compromise must have hit the spot. I have been mad on cheese all my life but since this new WOL I hardly have any. Weird how our tastes change. Now if I have cheese it’s really tasty..like Stilton..and a small amount is all I need!

Audrey..hope you are getting some relief and feeling better x

Newby..well done on completing another fast day 🙂 your target sounds good so stay focused and you will get there x

Hemmy..hope you had fun checking out those teeny tiny knickers!!

Ginette..hope all is well with you x

FD for me too today. When I first started I thought there was no way I could just have lunch and dinner on a FD so I split my cals into 3. For over a month now I’ve been able to do just lunch and dinner..it gives me more cals to play with in the evening..enough for a square of 85 % choc! Amazing how the body adapts…

Hi to everyone else..hope you’ve all had a good day 🙂

    Karen
    Xx

well, managed another one – four in a row – as I ate breakfast at 3.30 am thought today was going to be a non fast day, until I put that frock on! 499 calories, with chips (5) and mayonaise (a teaspoonful but left most of it) and refused the rhubarb pie and double cream!!!!!

And decided to buy another wig – the first one was about a fiver, this one is over fifty quid – I REALLY hope its ten times better!!!! of course it isn’t coming until Saturday, so a bit of stress, wedding is at 4 and we have to get there.

    Morning all

You are all putting me to shame with theses fast days especially milena!

I am taking the week off and am starting again on Monday with a B2B. Liquid only followed by a 500 kcal fast.

I am sure you will all be busy this weekend so I will say have a good time whatever you are doing, milena enjoy your wedding.

    Audrey

    Morning!

Audrey, sound a bit better this morning – how is your back? And good luck with your fast days on
Monday – we are all there willing you on.

Milena, I hope the dress comes on time and is good on you.

I found fast day number 4 quite difficult and ended up going to bed a bit earlier than usual!

The reward was that I have lost another 2 lb, taking me below that wretched 14 st mark to 13.13 which is a first for at least 2 years! I feel elated and know the weight loss will be possible.

What are the rules of a liquid fast?

Off to John Lewis for some retail therapy!

Have a good day all x

    Newby,

Glad the fast days are paying off for you and you are now in the 13’s…..I just wonder what are we going to call you you can’t be the Newby for ever you know! HeheHe perhaps old Newby. …

My back is no better, off to see Dr later. ……

    Audrey

    Hi Newby
Wow well done you!! It’s exciting.! Well deserved for some retail therapy.

Audrey, sorry to hear your back is still bad, hope your doctor can sort you out.

    Hemmy, how you doing?

Milena, I am wearing my hair shirt and relieved no cravings for more cheese yet.

Have a good day all. x

Oh no, good luck with the Dr visit.

Maybe I will change to newme at some point – my proper name is Viv

    Have a good day all:)

Good morning friends hope all is well with you and yours.

    Karen
lovely to see you. x It is amazing how we adapt to things. Think a lot is just mindful thinking what we put in our mouths instead of just not thinking about the consequence. Easier said than done at times. .. but 5 2 soon gets us back on track hopefully. Xx

    Bev
Glad you get over yesterdays blip.x Sorry to say the wine demons were out last night and caught me unawares. Lol
Scales not looking good this morning. Anyway, will fast today because of the weather, todays dog walking visit with a friend is cancelled. Sooo onwards and downwards. Yay Xx

    Newby
You are doing so well … we are all behind you. It is sooo very exciting seeing those scales change.
Enjoy your shopping trip .. for gods sake don’t go in one of those cubicles with close mirrors. I wouldn’t give even Kate Moss much of a chance. Lolol Have a lovely day. Xx

Audrey hope you get sorted soon. Xx

Milena hope the costume and wig is successful Xx

Dear Ginette hope things are good with you. Miss you. Xx

Everyone else have a good day whatever you are doing.

Brit lovelies … Life isn’t an elevator .. you have to take the stairs. Xx

    Morning all

Hope we are all bright and breezy this morning. Weather is going to be nice here yippee. Nice day for dog walk Hemmy.

Food is going well and all was not so bad with the crumpets. Neil bought them and they were Tesco own cheapies, only 77 cals each when I looked at the packet!

Next FD is Monday. The last 2 days have worked out semi fasts thanks to last nights wine, but hey a girls got to enjoy life…..hope to hear how everyone is doing.

    Onwards and downwards. x

Good morning friends hope all is well with you and yours. x

    Hi Bev

Yes, we do have to enjoy life with a few treats. We are here for the long term… living life this way. Ignored Kristy with wine last night I had my share the night before.Lol On track now though I think.

You are doing so well .. think of how far you/ we have come this year.. especially with all the other things we had to consider in our lives. Will be fasting with you on Monday. Xx

Newby.. did you get tiny knickers at John Lewis.lol Xx

Hope everyone is doing ok have a good week-end whatever you are doing.

    Brit lovelies…

Change your thoughts and you change your world.Xx

    Hi All

Lovely Autumn morning here in the South West. Hope all going well with you all.

Crumpets not so bad then; when you described them Beverley, I could also taste them!

Trying to stick to the healthy eating Inbetween FD but the craving for chocolate is sometimes overwhelming:) I do however feel much better:)

    Have a lovely weekendx

We decided to switch FD from Thursday to Saturday this week and its gone ok a carrot two apples and 100g of water porridge for me. If any one else likes Dark Chocolate we got a load reduced to 75p in Tescos yesterday. …some of the Sao Tome 71% and a stack of the Dominican Republic 85% we prob eat about 10g a day

Well done Newby Ive just got into 13 too.

We found some 99% cocoa lindt chocolate the other day… how to geta cocoa hit in tiny quantities.

Hemmy, Newby, celtic, Beverley, milena, Karen, sorry for anybody I have missed out!

Glad you are all doing so well. I have to report a gain of 3.5lb. this is what happens when your better half is in charge of the meals. ……

I feel like I have been fed up ready for slaughter, he is thankfully back into work tonight so I can fast tomorrow and Tues to try to get back to my 150 lb. Only got Sunday lunch to get through now.

Have a great day fellow brits, together we are stronger

    Audrey

Good morning friends hope all is well with you and yours. x

Another beautiful day we are so blessed at this time of year. Nov 1 how time has flown.

I think I will need to go back to the drawing board as my weight is not staying down so well in-between fasts. Seems a lot of yo-yoing now.

Perhaps this happens as you get nearer your goal maybe we get more complaisant.

Audrey hope you are feeling better. Enjoy being spoilt by Ian. You will soon put those pounds to right.Xx

Sunday roast beef for me profiteroles and all. Lol Have a good day Brit lovelies …

The first step to anywhere is deciding you are not going to stay where you are. Xx

I just did a nice post and lost the internet connection.

I am so exasperated all I will say is thinking of you all and hope you have a good day.
    x

    Good morning friends 🙂

A beautiful sunny day here too 🙂 had a fabulous dog walk earlier now contemplating a stint in the kitchen. Have some pumpkin to cook..will make 2 pies: 1 sweet 1 savoury at the request of younger daughter. Thankfully the trick or treaters demolished most of the goodies I bought for last night so no temptations there!

Audrey..so sorry to hear about the gain x you’ll soon lose it when you are back in the swing of things..you are so determined. Hope your back is improving 🙂

Hemmy..I think you’re right about complacency as we get closer to our goals or even when we’ve been doing 5:2 for a while. A little relaxation is to be expected but we have to get right back on that horse!! I am still logging everything on mfp..although I do cheat a bit sometimes to make the number look more acceptable..naughty!! Only cheating myself..stupid!!

Having admitted to that I have managed to lose 0.5 kg this week 🙂 Now very close to my target which I’ll re evaluate when I get there.

Celtic..enjoy that dark choc. I too love the Tesco 85%

Milena..hope all went well yesterday x

Hope everyone has a lovely day and enjoys the wonderful autumnal weather x

    Karen
    Xx

    Hi Karen and Hemmy

it did, the wedding was lovely – the bride had the most beautiful completely over the top dress, ballerine length with a huge train, tiara and silver shoes – not a look many could carry off and not my taste – but she looked absolutely stunning. The she took off the train and put on purple wings and became a fairy!!!

Our outfits went well, got the new wig, was ok – I’ve a couple of photos will try to load, but I don’t look at all like me. Hubby looked good!

Didn’t stay too long as I am severely allergic to children who are out of control at weddings, and they were setting up the sweetie table just before we left – out of control vomiting kids…….

Got the wig on better for the neighbours party, no one recognised me! Some of the neighbours said they had been worried I was ill as I had lost so much weight! So there was me thinking no one had noticed and they were to scared to mention it!!

I know many of us say not many seem to notice, perhaps they are just concerned that me are all ill.

Ate nothing at either event – shared chicken pakora and lamb korma with OH between the two, was easy to say no to everything.

Best part was I Saturday morning – 3 lbs for the month, scary low for the huge number of fasts, but that included nearly a week away, so no yoyoing and very happy – and I got the final two pounds to hit the 3 stone loss. Dead chuffed!

So, November is here, teetotal for the next six weeks, and I think I’ll have to do mainly fasts but getting used to them.

    How are you Audrey?

Have a great day, hope everyone is enjoying good food today!

    Hi milena and Co. ,

I am feeling a little better, have got some muscle relaxants from the Dr and these seem to be helping my back.

Not much else they can do until the machine at the hospital is mended with the new one.

Glad the wedding went o.k, sounds fabulously extravagant. My daughter was thinking of having her wedding at Halloween but changed it to earlier in year! Congratulations on the loss!

    Have a great sunday everyone

    Audrey

Milena..wow..sounds like you had an amazing day. Love the idea of the fairy wings!

Well done on your loss! Absolutely brilliant and a fantastic milestone. .you are right to be chuffed!! What a star! ★

Audrey. .so good to hear you are a little better..take care x

Sun still shining so time for another dog walk 🙂

    Karen
    Xx

    Hi All
Well done Milena on the loss – I think you are entitled to a little pride! Three stones is brilliant!

So glad you are feeling a little better Audrey and good luck with the fasting this week.

Been away with my mother for her birthday and had great weekend eating steak and chips! – fasting tomorrow!

Thanks Celtic for info re choc – I will need to try others apart from my favourite bournville!

Here’s to getting back to it tomorrow – good luck folks 🙂

    Morning all

A murky morning here. Milena, so happy for you, a lovely time you had AND got to your 3 stone loss. Well deserved. x

Hemmy, Karen, Celtic, Newby and of course Audrey. Here we all are then!

FD for me today and about to do my boiled eggs.

Wonder if or what loss I will have tomorrow? I don’t know how I stay off the scales!

We’ll see. Have a good day all.
    B x

    Morning all,

A very murky morning here too hemmy. ..

I am back and fasting today, I have gained 5 lb in total in 5 days….. do b2b for me….

I am feeling much better, thanks for all your concern and kind words they did help me fight the blues. …

Onwards and downwards we go. …together we are stronger we can do this. …..

    Audrey

Good morning friends hope all is well with you and yours.

    Hi Bev
That is so annoying when you lose a long post. It usually happens if you turn the page back when posting. Hope you are doing okay and coping with the treat temptations. How is the course going. Xx

    Hi Karen
Those pies sound yummy ..funny but I am not tempted while cooking think its when I relax and get bored. Brilliant loss you are so consistent good for you Karen I am thrilled for you. Xx

    Hi Milena

What a wonderful wedding that must have been. So unusual more relaxed I would think. must confess to not being excited being around young children these days. Some are so spoilt and I cant stand this screeching they seem to do for no reason. Lol
Well done on that 3lbs loss you have worked soo hard Milena and deserve every oz lost. Xx

    Hi Audrey

So pleased to hear you are feeling better .. less pain. Take great care this week and don’t overdo it all round . We need you here for encouragement. No one can can get through a fast day with such determination. Xx

    Hi Newby.
Glad you had a lovely time with your Mum. That time is so very special .. even more so as we and they get older.

Keep up the good work .. a fast day soon puts all to right ( hopefully)lolXx

Hope everyone else is okay … look in tell us how you are doing. Strength in numbers. Xx

Fast day for me kept stable this week-end .. not looking for much of a loss this week but hey who knows.

Have a good day Brit lovelies…

Nothing is Impossible the word its self says I’m Possible Xx
    .

FD for us here too. I haven’t weighed for a week or two there didn’t seem any point; October turned into another month with two periods.I am hoping November will be more normal. Going to cut out caffeine coffe completely for a while as its triggering hot flushes. Also back on track with Mondays and Thursdays this week after the deviation last week. Still waiting to hear the results of the ultrasound of Stuart’s carotid and for an appointment withe the Neurology/Epilepsy consultant.

Hemmy I love your quotes..keep them coming. Audrey hope the back is getting there. Ginette hope you are ok

I was just thinking even though I have a long way to go (one stone down and four to go) 5:2 is the only thing that has left me optimistic: I am completely relaxed withe the idea of this being a forever way of life. ..I can cope with the idea of maintaining on 6:1

    Hi Ladies

Thank you all for the kind words.

Audrey, glad you’re back to fasting, I can go back to being your wing man!! Hope you’re feeling better.

Where are we, about six weeks to Christmas? Time to get serious. Last thing wce want is wailing and moaning around the Christmas tree. So the mantra isn’t ‘I can have it tomorrow’ but ‘I can have it Christmas eve!’

And no wailing and weeping cos we put weight ON over Christmas either. 5:2 is our way of eating, and Christmas is a feast. So time to plan, to lose a little, to march into the shop changing rooms like gladiators into battle, inside of Christians about to be thrown to the lions! And time to plan how we are going to bank enough calories to feast!!!

So plan the fast days, try very hard to stick to them, sling in an extra one for the bank. If a fast day goes tits up – just do another.

If you are hungry, it’s working. Go for a walk, drink a glass of water. Find something to do with your hands, learn to knit. Clean the loo. Have a list of things to do. Find a photo of yourself you hate, keep it in your bag. Carry a packet of mints.

    And make soup!!!!!!

    Milena

    Loving the post. …

I am glad to be feeling better and happy to report I am doing a B2B today all being well. I am doing a liquid only today, and 500 tomorrow. … Let’s hope I make it through these this week.

Beverley, apologies to you, I answered your earlier post but called you hemmy! Definitely a senior moment hehe.

Have a great week my fellow brits…we can do this if we stick together.

    Audrey

    Hi All,
It is raining in CA:) Not even a drop in the bucket compared to what we need, but we will take whatever we can get.

Wow Milena. Great job on the weight loss!!! Glad you had fun at the wedding and party. You got me craving Indian food at 4.30 am as I read your post.

Audrey- I am so happy you are on the mend. Take it easy and good luck on the fasting.

Newby- Glad you have a great time with your Mum.

Well I survived the w/e. Saturday afternoon I baked dozens of biscuits (cookies) for work and had to try one of each kind.I haven’t baked in years. The Anzac cookies were the best. I ate dinner before I went in to the work party for the night shift who were working a 13 hour shift (day light savings, YUK).The pasta dishes and garlic bread smelled so good. There were several great looking cakes as well. Eating dinner before I went in to see the staff paid off, but I can’t say I was not tempted. Anyway, yesterday I felt like crap because of the wheat in the 3 biscuits and slice of bread for breakfast. When will I learn. I must have done something right though as I only put on 0.4 of a pound since Friday.

Fasting Tues & Thurs again this week. I have homemade tomato soup for one fast day. Too bad the cheese sandwich is off the books.

I hope all of you on a FD today are going great guns.As Audrey says, together we can do this.

    Hi all

No fog here..clear skies and sun!

FD for me too today. Always good to get back into it after the w/e and lots of company on Mondays too!

Milena..go you!! You have given us all a good talking to! Great to have such brilliant cheerleaders on this forum 🙂

    Hemmy..love your ‘I’m possible’ quote!

Newby..glad you had a good w/e with your mum x

Hope the day is going well for fellow fasters 🙂 and mindful eating for those on a NFD

    Karen
    Xx

    Hello fellow fasters!

5th fast today and so far so good!

Thanks for the hints Milena – made a list and it definitely focused the mind!

Made some tomato soup which was also a good idea! Especially as it feels really wintery with fog that has hardly lifted all day!

Hope the day is going well for you Audrey 🙂

Celtic, it is great to think that we can have a forever way of controlling our eating without it feeling too much of a hardship! It’s just a shame this way of eating wasn’t discovered 20 years ago!

Thanks for your posts Hemmy and for the encouragement they give us.

Positive thin thoughts to you all.

    Xx

    Hi viv,

Glad you are getting into the swing of fasting. The weather has been awful here today too, very foggy and cold!

I am doing ok with my fast day although it isn’t a liquid day anymore! I have had 3 morning coffee biscuits! I am missing my fasting buddy, milena, perhaps next Tues and wed?

Off to bed soon to avoid any more biscuits. …. Have a nice evening everybody be good!

    Audrey

    Hi Brit lovelies x

    Milena
Just had to pop on and say loved your inspiring post… lots to get on with.
Loved the learning to knit or clean the loo… Fab. Lol Xx

Everyone seems to be having a good day. Mondays fast always seem to be easier some how. Xx

    Hi all

I have heard from ginette she is o.k. getting things sorted and hopes to be posting again soon!

Hurry back ginette we miss you!

    Audrey

    Thank you Audrey. Xx

I will second that … hurry back Ginette we miss you and your enthusiasm. Xx

    Hi All

Newby well done in getting right into this, I hope everyone has thought about how close we are to Christmas. 7/8 weeks not long….

Hi Hemmy, Audrey, Beverley, Milena, Karen, Celtic and Sig…..I don’t think I have forgotten anybody.

It has only been a few days, to be honest I didn’t realise I hadn’t been on for that long. I am still doing 4:3 which seems to suits me. Right now I am eating what I want on NFDs still with a mind to not wanting to put on weight. After 10 months I am having a stand still moment. My health rrainer finished with one company and has joined another so after the initial training again (for him) he will be open for business!! This is all through the NHS and through my doctors surgery. He told me to bring all my finishing numbers with me next time I join him. I need to put my name on the waiting list mid November. This means that my little standstill moment will start moving again.

I have been busy though, I have joined the local gym, whilst being small it is not intimidating and no show offs in Lycra!! I am trying to go twice a week, he suggested only doing half an hour the first two or three weeks, this will save strain and be achievable as I have not done this kind of exercise for years. I am limited to what I can do as I had an old knee injury that will play up when I exercise too much.

I’ve now decicided to clean out kitchen cupboards…..I know most people spring clean, I am a winter clean person.

I listen to talking books whilst doing boring time consuming jobs, makes them easier. I have listened to three books in two weeks, this is through the library app, overdrive. When “resting” I also do jigsaws again via an app, what would I do without my iPad?

I will be back in full swing in a couple of weeks and until then will be here every two or three days.

Be good until then…….. Buy yourself smaller knickers if you are getting to need them as this will be something to aim for and won’t break the bank. Don’t forget to measure every couple of months and you can see how well you have done. I measure the following my neck (visceral fat is stored here), bust, waist, tummy, thighs, calves, tops of arms. Without this you will not have a true record of how well you have done.

    Have a good week. Xx

    Ginette
