  • Hi Audrey,

I am from Lancashire. I moved to California (about 30 miles from San Francisco) about 27 years ago and never left. I love it here. I still drink my English tea, and seek out my Branston pickle and Marmite. They last a long time though:) Speaking of fish and chips. That my have to be my tea on Monday when we go to my local brew pub. Yes, it is English. My American husband loves English beer. I prefer the cider.

I hope you feel better soon.

    Wow slg,

I too am from Lancashire, was brought up in rossendale. In a little town on the edge of the lancs/Yorkshire border at the edge of the pennines ….now live in Cheshire so not moved as far as you. You know the saying you can take the girl out of Lancashire, but you can’t take lancashire out of the girl….well that’s true for me. It’s nice to meet you. Keep in touch. You have brightened up an otherwise very dull and dreary wet day. …

How are you managing with 5 2? I have lost 24 lbs since I started….back in January

    Audrey

    Hi All

Just a quick one, welcome to the newcomers. Having a full time of things at home, tumble dryer and microwave packed in within a couple of weeks. Ordered both new from John Lewis. They do extended guarantees so I always buy electrical system from there.

Now need to get tge kitchen ready and the old products disposed of, wondering whether I should paint it while I’ve got the chance.

Must be mad! I am still doing the 3 fast days a week.

Hemmy and Audrey you are both doing well in the meeting, greeting, and keeping spirits up work.

Glad all is going well with your Mum Karen. No place like home!

Celtic well done in getting to your first stone, the day that we go wrong isn’t so important as the day after it. I remember having a bad day and then the next one not returning to good habits which led to more days like this. One day is not the problem so just enjoy that day and get back to it the next day however hard it is.

Audrey I hope your back improves soon.

    Beverley

You seem to have all the right ideas.

I have emails turned off now but will scroll down once in a while to see how you are all doing, it’s nice to have some time back as I have lots of things that need doing.

Keep up the good work. See you all soon.

    Ginette

    Hiya All
Just sat down to read all your entries – just so helpful and supportive. Thank you. Stuck to my two fast days and just the feeling of being in control is wonderful. Had family round today and so nice not to have to eat different things although I did eat less!

Can anyof you tell me whether you have found that increasing your water intake helps with the weight loss? Opinions seem to differ on this.

Got some time to myself now with my book – bliss!

    Xx

    Hi Newby

Yes drinking more water definitely helped me especially on fast days….Glad you managed your 2 fast days o.k. enjoy your book

    Audrey

Thanks- will continue with the water!

    Hi Ginette

So pleased to see you. Not sure if I have said this before but you inspired me to join the forum originally. x

Sods law with electrical stuff it all Packs up together.

Hope to see you back here soon. Take care. Xx

Hi sig … welcome to our little corner of the world. x

My very best friend who I communicate daily with lives in Oregon.

They were in the forces and stationed here for 2 tours as they extended because they loved the English way of life.

She thinks its funny as my post s always start with the weather. Lol

Do hope you stay with us along our journey. Xx

Hi Newby … So glad you are feeling good on this way of life. I always drink water with a good squeeze of lemon .. in and out of the loo .. hopefully shedding the weight and toxins. Lol Xx

    Hi all

Wellcome Yorkie – I wrote a post this morning but it disappeared, I think Audrey wrote about taking the lass out of Lancashire on another thread? – but you can take the lass out of Yorkshire ……. my OH stopped picking me up for called lunch dinner and dinner tea when I just walked out of the kitchen mid dinner – one lunchtime – he doesn’t pick me up any more!!

I was born in God’s own country too – Donny but my family are from Cas and Wakefield!

Hi Newby – I’m a pound off a three stone loss, if I can do it anyone can – though still looking to do the elusive lb – after eating a portuguese custard tart for breakfast, a chocolate thingy and latte (skinny!) for lunch (can’t call coffee and cake dinner eh?) samosa and a duck roll for afternoon tea and pulled pork for supper, today is not that day!!!!

Great example that this this not a diet but a way of life eh? If I was on a diet that would be the eats on the day I gave up.

Not doing a fast tomorrow Audrey – have promised son to make pasta with chicken in a cream and tomato sauce – quite beyond me to make that and not eat it – but it will give me my chicken for stir fry on Monday and the carcass for soup on Tuesday – so its a Monday fast as usual and Tuesday liquid fast – all is not lost.

Karen – no loss but no gain is a victory in my book – and we are all about little victories. Celtic, losing nicely, I see. Well done.

Ginette, thinking of you!!!! Three fasts – well done!

Audrey, hope the pain is easing. I’m in pain too – was watching a film, a guy jumped out at Wesley Snipes, I jumped and put my hands to my face, bashed my specs into my nose. Bloody hurt – brought tears to my eyes – brought tears to my boys eyes too – they literally fell about laughing!!!

My son and his mates often treat me to the pictures, they find me jumping at films grossly entertaining. They sit three rows back though, in case there are any girls in the cinema!

Hi Hemmy, Jammy, slg and Bev – and anyone I’ve missed.

Just nine weeks to Christmas and I have been lax, so its time to get into the groove.

Have a great Sunday and then the work begins!!!!!

    Hi all

I am laid up in bed watching x factor…. I have had a terrible time food wise these past few days so am going to still do my liquid day tomorrow followed by Monday fast day to see if I can get back into the groove.

My back is still pretty sore so no exercise for me this week!

Milena enjoy your meal tomorrow. ..

    Ginette come back soon…..

Good luck to all have a Great Sunday

Thanks for all your best wishes and concern much appreciated

Keep in touch my fellow brits…. Together we are stronger

    Audrey

    Hi Milena
Great to read your post. Well done on your weightloss – you must feel amazing?!

It’s so encouraging to hear that you have lost the amount I am dreaming of! – how long did it take ? I am at the start of my journey but so looking forward to achieving great things.

    Thanks again for the post

    Newby 🙂

    Hi Newby

decided at a party at new year to sort myself out – was the heaviest person there – and I think that included all the blokes!

Fannied around from 7 January for few weeks, didn’t lose anything at all – found this forum on 22 January at 201 lbs. By the 28th, still no weight loss, and boy did I try that first week on the forum – weight on 29th was 3 lbs lighter. Looking back, seems my comments about my fat hanging on for dear life has always been true, I’ve only lost weight week by week when I did the fast beach diet.

So ten months – my first target was 53 lbs in a year. Getting close.

Hope y’all don’t get the impression I’m bragging, most of you know my story, would love to be under 9 stone, I think that will be difficult and will take at least another year. Sometimes having only a small amount to lose is harder – its easy to show big losses if you start off big! But I think its good to hear that this way of life does work.

Ginette is the star – she is much more focused much more of the time that me – and her loss has been inspiring – but I think its good to know that all is not lost if you go off the reservation – and boy do I go wandering!!!

The hardest part of this journey is getting started, first we have to stop putting weight on before we can start losing. No-one loses at the same rate. No one is perfect and does 5:2 religiously. You can do three 500 cal fasts and two liquid fasts in a week and lose nowt. If you can keep the faith when that happens ….. then you are well on the journey.

    Finally, the most important advice:

Life is too short for cheap wine.

    Morning all

    Good post milena,

Newby I just agree with everything milena has said, I started more or less at the same time as milena weighing 175 lb I am now hovering around 150 lb. I still want to get to 135 lb so I am at healthy bmi for first time in decades!

This isn’t a quick fix diet it’s a change for life eating plan that works when you do it properly may be slow at times but it does work!

Have a great time everyone, ginette you are very missed on here, come back soon.

    Audrey

Good morning friends hope all is well with you and yours. x

Milena a very good inspiring post. Thank you. Needed that this morning as went of the rails a bit last night. A bottle of wine ..then triggered off the old sweet cravings. Resisted chocolate I have in for Halloween and had 4 chunky chip ginger cookies.
Was so amazed to see the same weight on the scales this morning. Think a great deal was flushed away as it seemed to go straight through the system almost immediately. On a good note Milena ” it was not a cheap wine) lolol well it was really as it was on offer at local shop”. Have a good day. Xx

Audrey hope you are feeling better today .. take care and good luck with the FD today. Roast beef lunch today here .. so MINDFUL is the word. Xx

Bev, Karen, Celtic, Priscilla, Jammy, P Yorkie, Newby. Sig everyone else…. how are things with you. Xx

Lovely to see our star Ginette Xx

Have a good day Brit lovelies … We can do this together.

What is coming is better than what has gone.Xx

Good heavens, it’s all happening here!

Audrey, that’s so bad with your back, my mum had the same thing so appreciate how painful it must be. Thinking of you and hoping for a good recovery. Let Ian do the hard graft!!!

Hemmy, ooh the draw of the vino. Yet again this weekend for me too. Tut tut Beverley you old lush! It was nice though!

Milena you are a bad influence. We too are having pasta (and chicken). Daughter likes it, Neil likes it and I love it so what the hell. FD tomorrow.

Ginette, hello. Good you sound on the up.

Everyone, hope you have had a good weekend. Big hugs all round.

    Beverley x

    Hi All

Thank you fir your kind words, ok although I shall keep email notifications off I will start to look in again.

Thank you Hemmy as you know I often tell people to come and join the forum, I have found it a great help.

So if anyone is there looking in, come and join us. We are all great at encouragement and understand your problems and challenges. I can’t think of anybody on here who hasn’t lost weight! It might cost you as you may like some of us had to buy new knickers…….as the others get too big, I nearly lost mine a couple of times (I like to get wear out of things) but even I had to give in.

Like Milena who has done really well, three stone is a big achievement and then Audrey who had less to lose and so is losing more slowly, Hemmy, Bev, Karen and Celtic joined a little later but will be catching up with us. So far I have lost about 3.7 on 5:2 and a stone in the 9 months before…. I am trying to slow it down, I know sounds unbelievable but I need my skin to catch up. I only want to lose another half stone before Christmas now.

Audrey I am so sorry to hear how much pain you are in, just try and tread water weight wise under you feel a little better, I have been doing this and having a bit of a break the days I am not fasting, I shall probably have another week or two of this and then get back to good NFDs.

I am busy next week with new electrical equipment coming in, a good kichen clean and almost tempted to paint it. So I will pop in as and when I can.

Milena, I never set myself a target as I wasn’t convinced it would work, seemed too easy…..now I am converted! Next year target is two stone to two and a half, more modest than this year, that should be achievable.

Now I need to make a phone call to someone before I go out.

    Have a nice day all.

    Ginette

    Hi All,

I hope you are all enjoying your Sunday!

Hemmy, The weather is always a topic with my family and best friend who I speak to every weekend. Let’s face it, it can make or break plans and it certainly affects how I feel, which is why I now live here. Now I appreciate the rain. We really are hoping for rain this winter as we are in a severe drought.

Audrey, I am from Bury. I started 5:2 mid August to lose a few pounds and to help my borderline BP that I have been watching for a while. I hope for the health benefits that Michael talked about in the Horizon program. I did not think I had that I had more than about 4 lbs to lose, however I have been on one diet or another to try to stay within 5 lbs of where I was since I was 16. Being in my 50’s with the increasing abdo rolls (when I rarely had belly fat) was making me uncomfortable. I have always had big hips and thighs. Since starting 5:2 I have lost 8 1/2 lbs and have realized I can lose a couple more. I am only 5ft tall and now weigh 8st 4 and I have lost 6 inches. I have tried all the diets out there like so many of us on this forum with my heaviest weight being 9st 3. I know that is not a lot by what some say they have to loose, but my family heath history of heart disease is a big motivator for me. I have thad tough fast days, and my weight can fluctuate a lot. I find measurements and looking at my weight trend helps. This is the easiest thing I have done and it will now be my WOL. I used to be so crabby if I did not get food, including breakfast by 7.30 am. Now I can last until 11 or 11 30 am. I am trying to get my friend to try it. She just started a 10 day green smoothie diet. Sorry for the ramble:) Hope you are doing a bit better today.

Milena, Try setting a small goal and then set another. I used to be an all or nothing girl. Now I set small goals 41bs by… I also added small changes until they became habits. Walking 20 mins a day. Now I do 20 mins of walking and aim for 10,000 steps per day. I have to say my Fit bit helps. I compete with my MIL.

You girls are all doing so well. Good luck Brits on your fast days this week. It will be Tues & Thurs for me. Off to get some steps in. Sitting on my bum all day won’t help me.

Hi Slg – I do the small targets – sometimes- 3lbs for this month – but its easy to forget them – funny you should mention the fitbit – I got one a while ago, put it away when I had my op, just got it out this morning and charging it – I’m aiming for 10,000 steps again, can’t say it helped with weightloss the last time, but it certainly didn’t hinder anything, and the toning benefits are excellent – Ginette, I hope the skin does catch up! I’m still doing the dry brushing and moisturising, not seeing any slack skin yet – though still have a bit of overhang on the tum – gross eh?

Slg – writing across folk, sorry – It doesn’t matter what the amount it – its still the same mountain – you are doing brilliantly, so your job is to drag us all up that mountain, we will catch you if you slip! Easy eh?

Audrey, you are so right – I am definitely a bad influence. There are fabby recipes on this forum, low calories, veggie stuff, using lentils etc etc – I put on a recipe for chocolate mousse using only two ingredients!!! Bugger it, I’m going to put it in the sugar free section, cos the ingredients are only chocolate and cream – we know chocolate and cream are good for you!!!! Gawd I could sell coals to Newcastle!!!

About to have the dregs of last nights cava and going to ask for a nice sauvignon blanc with tonights meal, or perhaps a chablis. Seriously thinking of going teetotal from the beginning of November until my birthday, just before Christmas, one way to bank calories.

In harness from tomorrow – and I am going to hassle y’all to be very very good – nowt like a reformed character for getting on everyones nerves!!!!

Travel hopefully – Santa is coming and we all want new frocks!!!!!!!!

    Hi All

An interesting story about someone who thought their family were eating healthily.

Do you know how much sugar there is in a banana? Truly shocking 7 teaspoons per 28g banana, I’ve always said that this is the one fruit that I only eat occasionally as it puts weight on. There are many shocking things here and on the surface many of the foods seem healthy.

My ‘healthy’ family are eating the equivalent of 215 Krispy Kreme doughnuts every WEEK: One mother discovers the shocking amount of sugar her children actually eat after keeping a meal diary

    Ginette

Good morning friends hope all is well with you and yours.

Bev .. the vino was just a Saturday blip lol not intended but enjoyed. Anyway, doesn’t seem to have done much damage. Stayed stable weight all week-end that is a first. So going into todays FD with hope of that damn pound to reach my stone tomorrow. Hope you had an enjoyable week-end with your daughter. Are you fasting today?Xx

Ginette hope your electrical stuff arrives safely.. all doing what it meant todo. Lol Yes, a nice coat of paint makes a lot of difference. Lots don’t like the smell but to me it says freshness.

Thank you for the link. Had a quick look and will check it out properly later. Makes you so sad to see how those lovely little kiddies are eating all that sugar in hidden stuff. The government really need to get to grips with this situ. Have a good day. Xx

Audrey .. hope you are feeling more yourself today. Good luck if it is a liquid day with Milena. Xx

Priscilla everything going well with you. Xx

    Have a good day .. Karen … Celtic.. Jammy… P Yorkie… Newby… Sig …any anyone else I have missed. Xx

Brit lovelies … Everyday is a second chance…lets use it. Xx

    Morning fellow brits,

I did my liquid only day yesterday was o.k. until 7 ish then hit the fridge…..managed to stay around 500 kcals so not a complete failure but NOT a liquid day….

My back I am sorry to say is no better so I am holed up on the sofa for the day….I hate taking pain killers but needs must. Ian is pouring me a large jug of water as I write this so I don’t have to move for a while, I think he forgets what goes in must come out….

Ginette glad you are back, I will read the article later,

Slg, I know bury market very well, best black puddings in the world. …..hehe

Good luck to my fellow fasters, and let’s have a good day today.

    Audrey

    Morning all

Keep looking after that back Audrey. No sudden moves, like to the fridge! Hope it eases off soon. x

Hemmy, good you are sounding good! Nothing like a nice glass of wine. Why not. Life is so short. To be enjoyed…….

Ginette, saw that article in the Mail, very disturbing. I always look at the contents of anything packaged myself. Before Neil was diagnosed with cancer, coming up 4 years ago now, he had a heart attack followed by a triple bypass and preceding that 14 years of chronic angina. When not eating here and out working his diet was awful. Fish and chips, cream cakes, fry ups…….he changed his ways way back then but too late. Hope people look after their young ones.

Lovely sunny day so far so will get some washing on. Hugs all round.

    FD for me too Hemmy.

    Beverley x

    Hi All
I am with you all on a fast day today (3rd) which curiously enough, my partner (also doing FD) and I have been looking forward to! What is that all about?

Very excited to have got on the scales to discover a few pounds off and I am feeling positive that I can do this. I cannot tell you all how helpful it is to read of your weightloss journeys!

Being in my mid 50’s I had started to resign myself to being overweight forever. Now I wholeheartedly believe 2016 will be about achieving great things! The number of things I could eat without feeling ill was getting less and less and I am finding healthy eating on NFD is adding to my feeling of wellness.

Onwards and upwards – hope you all have a good day.

    Newby:)

Yay todays Fasters how are we doing. Xx

Drinking loads of warm lemon water …Just had a milky coffee… soup with loads of veg … and I am using my granny’s old mincer to mince up some of yesterdays roast beef to add to the stock pot. Lol

Been up since 6am .. Kristy has a new job in London and needs to leave for the train at 7am. Brrr.

Newby .. glad this way of life is suiting you..not only with the weight loss
    but health wise too.

Like you I had resigned myself to being chunky. Now I am aiming for a nice fit in size 12.

Lost 13lbs so far .. started at 12st 1lb… hopefully tomoz will bring 11st 1lb. Feel so much fitter also. Although I do an hour plus with my Springer every morning I was sluggish. Often felt my knees were touching the ground sometimes at the end.
Now stride around them damn fields like a good one. Lolol

Glad to see you here. Xx

Good morning friends hope all is well with you and yours. x

Yipeee Lost that bloody pound.lol 7 bags of sugar.

Funny thing is, hardly anyone has commented… which is strange as Kristy says you can really see the difference. Feel it in my trousers too.

Hope everyone is doing well … its very quiet here. Audrey hope your not still in pain with your back. Xx

Brit lovelies … Slow progress is better than No progress. Xx

    Morning all,

For the past 2 days I have tried and failed to fast. …I think it’s because the back is so sore, I keep reaching for my old comfort foods, chocolate sweeties and crisps etc…. I am not sleeping because of the pain so that isn’t helping. ..

I think I am going to give fasting a break for a while at least until I am back in control of the pain again. I am back at Dr’s later this week so hopefully he can suggest something else. I did end up on morphine patches before so perhaps them again.

I do hope you are all doing better than me, good luck to all who are fasting today,

    Audrey

    Hi Audrey x

So sad to hear you are in such pain. Yes, very wise to just worry about getting pain free.

Hope the Dr can give you something to help you to feel yourself again.

Sending healing thoughts to you Audrey Xx

    Morning everyone

Oooh Hemmy so very happy for you! People are probably being polite as I am sure it must show a lot! Exciting milestone!!

Dear Audrey, what a horrible thing to put up with. My mum used to have cocodamol (I think) but they stopped giving it out. Fingers crossed the dr comes up with something.

I am minus 1 1/2 lbs and very pleased with that. It seems slow but knickers are getting baggy……….new ones on the horizon methinks. Plenty of dusters/floor cloths with the old ones (washed first of course). lol

    Good luck everyone.

    Beverley x

    Morning All

Oh Audrey, I do feel for you – Back pain can so get you down, hope you are able to get some relief soonx

Well done Hemmy – victory! And well done to all who lost after yesterday’s fast. I am sp pleased to have lost 4lb over my first 3 fasts – just seeing the scales going down instead of up gives me hope.

Got the fast beach diet book and will give that a go after Christmas!

    Have a good day

    Xx

    Good morning Brits!

And what a miserable rainy day it is here in Gsy!
Big well done to Hemmy Beverley and Newby on your losses ★
Hemmy..fantastic milestone! ! I’m like you with not many noticing my great achievement to date but remind myself that I’m doing this for ME!! If I feel and look so much better then that is a great reward 😉

Audrey. .so sorry to hear about your back..hope you get some relief soon x sending hugs ♡

Ginette. .hope you get the family sorted soon and back to normal postings on the forum x

FD yesterday went well. NFD today and a meal with friends to look forward to tonight.

Have a good day all 🙂

Stay focused fasters and hope all going well with Brits who haven’t posted for a while x

    Karen
    Xx

Thanks all for your kind comments and concern for me.

Hemmy a stone is fantastic well done to you.

Beverley 1.5 lbs a week is about average, well done to you slow n steady is the way to go we could start a shop with all these big knickers we have between us all.

Newby, 4lb is great well done on your loss glad it’s working for you.

Karen enjoy your meal but be mindful of what you eat…

Milena how are your fast days going?

    CelticCrow are you o.k.?

I am in my nest on the sofa, spaced out on pain killers may try to have a nap will catch up with you all later.

    Audrey

    Hi Hemmy

Well done on getting to that milestone, have you set another? Don’t despair I had to lose nearly 4 stone for people to notice!! I think when you are bigger thus is the case, I saw someone a couple of days ago who had lost 30+ lbs, I couldn’t see it. She was very big, I am not one for telling lies so concentrated on how she was feeling.

As I understand you don’t have stones to lose so someone will notice soon. Then that feeling is good.

    Hi Sig

Sounds like you are getting fit in the process, well done.

    Hi Beverley

Ah the knicker problem, just don’t let them get to the stage where they fall down!!

    Hi Karen

I had a strange fast day, thought I would try soya mince curry, there is a lot of fibre in it, 8gms, but no real flavour. I was swapping microwaves over so did it in the slow cooker. I have half left for tomorrow’s fast day and then will not buy it again.

    Hi Newby

Nice to see you hear, yes tge looking forward to fast days does seem very strange, a lot of us do though. Do you have a lot to lose?

    Audrey

How are you today any improvement, I really hope so.

    Hi Celtic, how are things?

    Ginette

    Hi Milena

Racing through as I have to go out soon meant to say well done on your loss, at last that was a long time coming and took some hard work.

    Ginette

    Thanks Ginette

only a lb but I have a target of three by the end of the month on the Rocktober challenge, so fingers crossed, how is it going for you?

    Hi All,

Hope you are all doing well on your FD’s. I just realized that I will have to move my FD’s to b2b Wed and Thurs because of work stuff. I don’t think I can fast at the conference today. I am often more hungry at these events and my stomach is rumbling no growling already at 5am!!. I have only done one b2b before and it was not great. At least I can probably squeeze in the 2nd FD on the w/e (plan B) as DH is going to off having fun with friends.

Audrey- hang in there. Hope the doc can help. Have you tried using a TENS unit in addition to the meds for your pain? You probably have, but just though I would ask.

Hemmy, glad those trousers feel loose. It is so satisfying, especially when you get to ditch them for a smaller size:)

    Happy Fasting Brits

    Hi slg

Yes I have tried my tens machine, my pain gone pen and my heat pad…..nothing working at the min, also tried arnica and some ibuprofen gel stuff the Dr gave me, again a big fat NO !

Ah well as my dear old dad used to say..people have had their heads chopped off and said less!

Think i am just going to have to put up with it till they get the new machine at the hospital and I can go in and have the nerve endings burned! Wow can’t wait!

Hope your conference goes o.k. good luck with the b2b ask milena for advice she is great with them….

    Audrey

Get down to A&E if it gets worse, they have some morphine down there!!!

    Only half kidding!

Burnt my stock – its enough to turn a woman to drink – chucked out the old le creuset pan we got when we we married, its supposed to have a lifetime guarantee, but I’m sick of the sight of it, and its been catching for a while. Now got two pans one, lost all my lovely chicken, so now it will be a minestrone soup. Bugger!

OH has had a a bacon sarnie for lunch. On a liquid day?????? He has kindly eaten the last of the cakey thingy in front of me – he did offer it to me first. Starting to think he is worried I might leave him if I get thin! Is he wise? – after he cleaned up all the veggies and stuff in the kitchen for me, put on a wash, and cleaned all my jewellery and silver – though I might just keep him wondering!!!!

Oh well, back to work, son has just made me a cuppa (I’ll find out later what he wants, cos he rarely does it withought me asking) and back to listing which I watch my kitchen rules and masterchef australia – am I the only one who can do a fast and watch cookery programmes?

    Hi Everyone thank you. Xx

Well done Bev .. Milena ..Newby on your loses. Lets keep it going now. Xx

Ginette When I started my goal was 2 stone bringing me down to 10st now I can see things are achievable I think at 5ft 4ins 9st 7/8 would be good. ( thought those days were well gone) lol

Noticed today .. still haven’t realized how my stomach has shrunk. I usually
have 1 slice of toast and marmalade for breakfast with a piece of fruit. For some reason I did 2 .. well the birds got lucky as I just couldn’t eat it. Then lunch time went to the Garden Centre for lunch … lovely quiche new potatoes and salad. Just couldn’t eat the potatoes at all. At one time I would have nearly eaten the plate. lol Times they are a changing thank goodness.

How is it going with you Ginette .. are you still too busy to get back into the swing. Xx

Audrey have you tried Rhus Tox in the Homepathic Remedies. I remember years
a nurse friend that suffered dreadfully from her back swore by them. Xx

Take care everyone. Xx Think I will fast again tomorrow. Usually do Friday /Monday weigh Tuesday. Have some nice soup left and feel in the mood. Excited. Lol Xx

    Hi Ginette and all

    Congratulations on your losses!

I have 3 – 3.5 stones to lose. I put on a whole lot of weight 2 years ago when my dad died and I ate my way through my grief. Time heals, and although I still miss him very much, I am now getting my life back on track.

I just know that getting my weight down and getting in control of my eating will have a huge affect on my life.

It is so helpful to join you all and share in your struggles and your victories – definitely power in numbers!

I have never felt so positive and motivated and whatever it takes, I am going to do it!! 🙂

Audrey, hope you are feeling better – I’m crap at these liquid days without you!!

Not a total disaster, well, still grieving for cremating the stock – all that goodness wasted. The soup did get made but with only tinned tomatoes and tomato puree, the stock just didn’t have a satisfying kick to it like the chicken stock, so ended up making the soup, which I would normally have done at the end of the day. I ate three bowlfulls, hardly the end of the world as I calculated about 110 calories a portion, had a bit of chicken to add to it – so all in about 350 calories for the day – and its nearly 2am, I’m off to bed before I add to it. Worked out Monday’s on my fitness pal, 780 calories, a bit less than I had thought – glad I put most of the mayo back, so all in just over 550 calories for two days. Could have been much much worse. Still haven’t unearthed the frock – did though work out that there are three evening dresses and my wedding outfit up in the attic, so we should be able to find them – except there are probably enough car parts to build a car or three, I wonder how the ceiling stays up sometimes. Good insulation, I expect!

Not really expecting the dress to fit, can’t remember how much I weighed when I got married. Hope its stretchy!

Trying again tomorrow, but with soup on the go, standard fast day, not liquid.

Sort of surprised that I can function perfectly well on so few calories – and I do – yet a 1000 calories or 1200 calories a day diet was way beyond me – and any diet which stated certain foods were not allowed, I’d develop a craving for them – even stuff I didn’t like.

    Morning all

Hemmy your excitement is contagious! Did another FD yesterday as not up to my Rocktober challenge. Am another 1 lb down but need to lose another 1 1/2 by Saturday.

Do you think it’s possible all? Milena you are doing so well bet you’ll get your challenge under wraps. Waiting to hear which dress you are going to wear!

Audrey, how is the back? Fingers crossed you get it sorted out soon. Have a gentle hug from me. x

Oh Ginette, the knickers…..I want little sexy ones…..one day.

Newby, good lord You are doing so well too.

All in all…I started at 13 st 5 lbs. This a.m. 12 st 10 1/2 lbs. So just another 5 1/2 lbs to the first stone and can join Hemmy!!

Patience is a virtue. Rome wasn’t built in a day, everything comes to she who waits etc.

Have good day all. Milena if your OH goes to eat a bacon sarnie on FD, grab it and liquidise it, that’ll teach him!lol

    Morning all

I am still here on the sidelines cheering you all on….

Not much change on the back. …

1.5 lb on this morning ah well it will come off again…. Ian has finished his 4 on now so he will be home at my beck and call till Sunday evening hehe…

Good luck to you all go fellow brits, onwards and downwards. …

    Audrey

Good morning friends hope all is well with you and yours. Xx

    Hi Newby,
Like Bev says ” you are doing sooo well.” keep at is my friend.

Grief… trauma have brought quite a few of us here together. I am a big believer in ” meant to be at the right time”. We are all here supporting each other to get back a healthy life to be the happiest we can with our body and minds.Xx

Bevvvvv you are going great guns. You will soon see that stone loss. You are very uplifting, I can hear in your post while you are quoting those sayings about waiting …you are thinking Come On pounds just go NOW lolol.

Will fast today but Friday is out as going to visit a friend which will include goodies. Also. Kristy and I were talking last night and decided the 2 days were enough as we want to enjoy the plan for life and not let it become another calorie count diet. ( that’s the thoughts at the moment) lol Xx

Milena hope you find that outfit .. sounds like you have a nice choice of things.

Just a thought on the chicken stock. If I don’t have a chicken carcus I have used a chicken potion on the bone. Not the same as free range chicken but it adds flavour. I keep a bag in the freezer for that. Xx

Hi Audrey take it easy .. have you tried that Rhus Tox?
Enjoy today with Ian at your beck and call. Hope things will improve after that visit with the Doc. Take great care of yourself. Xx

Hope everyone is doing okay .. call in and keep us up to date with your highs and also lows which we all know about. Lol

    Brit lovelies ….
Don’t make Excuses make Improvements. Xx

    .

Got an email from the OU and just signed up for a futurelearn course in Psychology and Mental Health in conjunction with University of Liverpool. Thought it may give insight into why I got fat amongst other things!

Looks good and only 3 hrs a week for 6 weeks and it’s free!

I just have to take my mind off food or lack of it……..

Wow Bev that’s sounds interesting and fun too.

Yes, the food over eating is s strange one to consider. Some seem to increase their intake when they are unhappy, while others eat when they are settled and happy.

I have always said “I just enjoyed food and wine. Now I am having to rethink that.

Why when we are full to the brim do we put another spoonful in our mouths . What’s all that about.

There you go Bev … answers back here by wakey wakey tomoz. Lolol. Xx

How is the day going with you… everyone.

Just had my all milk coffee. Drank lots of lemon water . Revitalizing Mondays soup for later . Putting in a piece of chicken and more veg. A good mix up as Sundays beef is still in there. Kill or cure. Lolol Xx

Oh Hemmy, it took me an hour or so to look through the first weeks work to do! It doesn’t matter if I am no good at it as I can only get nil point. LOL

They also had one on the liver and how liver disease happens but I thought it may put me off my weekend wine.

Doing ok here and sounds like you are too. Making an oxtail stew for Neil (he requested). Veg from his allotment, bless him. He can eat the oxtail and I’ll have the veggie part.

I find coffee fills me up. I have a splash of ss goats milk. Lemon water here too. We are just soooo good.

    FD tomorrow. Then yippee weekend.

Felt slim this morning and fat this afternoon. Of course it’s to do with my mental health!!! LOL

    Hi Brits,

My conference was very good yesterday. We had a speaking who was a comedian and spoke about humor, laughter and stress relief. It has made me realize we need more fun at work. Nursing can be very depressing when there is no fun with friends and coworkers.

Beverly – I loved my psychology classes in college. It is fun to learn new things. Even better that it is a free class. I used to love oxtail soup. I never had the homemade kind though.

Milena – I am with you on craving what is banned. Now I don’t ban anything. Even bread, which I know will cause me a problem. I just ask myself if it will be worth the pain which will show up the day after. Whether I give in depends on the type of bread. Fortunately, my OH knows what I like and will taste test and give me the verdict. It saves me a lot of joint pain:)

Hemmy – revitalized soup sound like a good option.

I decided to take a day of work today. It is kind of overcast, but will be fine for a walk. I am going to have to keep myself busy as it is a fast day. I think I will make a nice 1 egg omelet for lunch and plan for tuna poke and salad for dinner. I think my biggest challenge will be not having abut 10 cups of tea with milk.

Newby – you sound like you are doing great.

Keep the focus ladies. Together we can do this. Audrey- hang in there (sending hugs)

    Hi SLG

Good that you had a speaker who could make you laugh at your conference as I imagine nursing is pretty stressful. I couldn’t resist my little course and I shall know who to call on if I get stuck!

Stew is bubbling away nicely and smells really nice. Steamed savoy cabbage as well. The only problem with home grown organic veg is the creepy crawlies. We won’t use chemicals so we have a quite high mortality rate too.

    Everyone have a lovely evening.

Good morning friends hope all is well with you and yours. X

What lovely days we are having . long may it last.

A good FD yesterday .. easy day today ..

Finished those damn apples yesterday . Think I have done my bit of apple gathering this year. Such a shame to see them rotting on the trees. I can remember the years when you had to ” get there first” such a shame same with the blackberries too. No one wants them.

Hope everyone is doing ok … Audrey hope you are getting some relief from that pain. Xx

Bev that stew sounded tasty and fab. Lots to keep you interested with that course. Also away from temptation. Teeny weeny knickers here we come. Xx

Ginette hope things are coming along ok with you. Xx

Have a good Fast or mindful thinking day everyone.

    Brit lovelies ..

Don’t forget to remind yourself .. its ok not to be perfect .. just be the best you can. Xx

    Morning Hemmy and all

Well done Hemmy with your fast day yesterday! So cheering to read your post as I start my 4th fast day.

I am at the dentist for 9am – just a regular check up to add to today’s fun!

I am feeling very motivated but also very hungry, so here we go – I will not be the best I can be unless I work on it!

Good luck to everyone on FD – just keeping my mind on chucking the Bridget joneses and buying those teeny weeny knickers – maybe not:)!

By the way it’s chucking it down in Devon.

    Xx

    Morning all

Lovely day here too Hemmy but rain is forecast. Saturday is supposed to be sunny and about 17 degrees. Nice.

I am doing FD today. Yesterday was minimal. Have decided not to do another challenge as I do not want to get too manic about this!

Mini knickers will have to wait quite a while. lol

Hope we all have a good day. Rock on folks!!
