What are you doing to me….this maltesa cheesecake looks divine 😮

    A few saved..😬

    Jean x

Mmm, Jean just googled a recipe for it- does look scrummy… Looks an easy recipe too. Of course, as it’s not keto, I could only have a teeny tiny taster… I have a Ferrero Rocher cheesecake recipe- that is amazing! I’m tormenting myself with this as well Jean! Sorry!
Still hot here, hubby went for a walk, so we went by the river near us- went really far, which I wasn’t expecting, I only wore canvas shoes so I’ll have blisters, but it was worth it!

Hi All. Just in after a long but brilliant day. All the youth org out for parade this morning and then a fun day of activities… Popcorn, pancakes, crafts, quizzes, silent disco etc. A LOT of fun! But I’m shattered. I’ve been on my feet since 8am and the main service had to be creative and engage all ages as well as an infant baptism… Glad to sit down and I can’t wait for the OH to cook his fish and rice – I’m starving!

Catch up with more post later – food calls…

    Mx

    Hedgehog..
It’s quite a big one 10/12 people so definitely for a special occasion or when we get to goal weight…lol

I envy you your walk, it’s been raining here a bit..walking by the river is lovely and relaxing…we must get out and walk by our river we haven’t done it in years…maybe with our poles…

So I got my muesli cooked for the month and sorted a few things out for tomorrow, the route is a bit iffy on hills when we get close to site, only one way in avoiding the bad roads for caravans, so sorted, I hope.

We have had a good fast I didn’t eat till tonight, Steve had breakfast…..fasting now again into tomorrow ..

    Jean x

Morning all, & a happy St. George’s day! Is it a Mass Monday Fast?
Jean- have a safe journey & a good holiday in Derbyshire!
Lynne- what hours are you working this week?
Minols- yesterday sounds great, but what is a silent disco?! Hope you’re not too weary today…
Kay- how are you doing, is it going to be a FD?
Dave- how was Heidi in the hot weather (or didn’t you have any?)
Pseudo- hope you had a good weekend, & are you doing your 3 days B2B?
Lulu- hope you had a great weekend, & can get into a routine of FDs now, holiday’s over!!
    Cakey- hope your week’s better!
Typhoo- you’ve been quiet- how’s it going?
Is that everyone, I’m sure I’ve forgotten someone… sorry if I have!
FD for me- just tried black coffee, no sweeteners or anything, & it was okay! How my taste’s are changing! Had the seed crackers last night- they were wonderful, definitely making them again!
    Have a good day everyone!

    Morning All..
A dull day the sun has left us…

Just finishing breakfast and then must push on …away for 10am hopefully..

    FD for us and Hedgehog..

Scales were an ouch this morning ..well deserved pounds up….birthdays once a year….it was worth it..or was it?

Stepdaughter is collecting her puppy this morning, so has taken a holiday day off..exciting time..So Buddy will be joining them….

    Hedgehog..
Glad the crackers were tasty, it’s nice when you find something which hits the spot…at least it’s not cheesecake…lol

    Kay ….
A good day on the beach and walk with a cider too…are you with us today?

I think hedgehog has covered everyone…who else is joining us today?

Hope I have a signal and not have a gadget free few days like last time….

    Jean x

Morning all. Starting quietly this morning. Not joining the fast today – fasted yesterday and ‘ignored’ the hot dogs and immense amounts of fabulous baking, so taking it easy today. Also I have a potentially tricky meeting at someone else’s place where there is a lot od discontent to be heard – not doing that on an empty stomach!

Silent disco is the ‘latest’ thing! You hire the tech – headsets and I pad, I think. Everyone has the same music coming through the headsets but no-one else is disturbed! It also means that if there are particular iconic dance moves (eg the time warp) you all do them together and no-one else ‘outside the sound’ can join in. Apparently it’s very popular for hen nights going through town! Hysterical seeing kids dance to what seems to the non-headset wearer, silence – and therefore a great way of having a disco for oldies! I confess to having ‘strutted my stuff’ for the odd track!

Jean and Steve – enjoy the drive. And good luck to Monday faster.

    Mx

    Good morning

Sunny start and lovely early walk, bedding washed and blowing in the breeze, hoovering done and second coffee brewing. Cracking eggs with sticks today as my grandmother would say.

Joining the fast today, must not eat double decker in fridge or google maltesar cheesecake recipes.

Local all week so hopefully more balanced.

Have a lovely few days in Derbyshire Jean, lovely part of the country. Are you enjoying the Derbyshire Dales is going into the Peak District?

Minols, you certainly know how to pack things in to a day. Hope your tricky meeting is peaceful with a happy outcome.

HH seed crackers sound interesting, enjoying your recipes, wish I could see your cakes too, photos would be such a lovely upgrade to this website.

Good luck to everyone else today whether or not you’re fasting

    CW

Morning all, surprisingly sunny today, I was expecting it to be grey and raining!

I think I’m joining todays mass fast, but I’m not too well – spent most of yesterday evening being violently ill (even have burst vessels under my eye from it), and this morning I’m having stomach cramps which tells me it might make a resurgence.

HH, sounds like there are quite a few tasty keto recipes. Makes it sound very tempting!

Minols, I’ve heard of a silent disco but never seen one, must be funny to watch! I think there are some clubs where there are mutiple DJs, and you just tune your headset to the one that suits you best. That would be really weird, people dancing to different songs. 😀 Hope the tricky meeting today isn’t too bad for you.

Jean, if your friend is looking to meet people and he’s online it’d be worth him having a potter about the Meetup site to see what’s in the area. Most of the groups I go out with I found on there, and there are usually a mixture of ages.

    Afternoon everyone,

Jean, hope you have a great few days away, and glad you enjoyed your birthday.

Minols, hope the meeting goes better than anticipated. Always good to plan for the worst and hope for the best.

CW, very industrious this morning. Nice to have a week with less travel.

Pseudo, see how you go today. Hope the bug has passed and you’re feeling better.

Hedgehogs, I’ve resisted googling cakes and cheesecakes – so far. Working Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday again this week, so a day of catching up on housework today.

Dave, how much longer until the hockey is finished and you can get an early night?

    Typh00, you fasting today?

Kay, I expect it was heaving your way over the weekend. Hope you got chance to enjoy the beach.

Lulu, are you joining the fast today?

I’m planning to fast today, just coffee and water so far. Really need to get on and decorate the spare room, but I think today will just emptying as much as possible so I can crack on one evening. Only a couple of coats to do on the walls then gloss with just about everything else in the house.

A bit dull here today, then rain for a couple of days. The sun was nice whilst it lasted.

    Have a great day,

    Lynne x

Heidi was fine, not even a lot of panting.Plenty of water always available for her.
The hockey is game six, they play the best of seven so if they win tonight it will go to the last game then if they win there will be another best of seven series, followed by another best of seven, should they get this far they will then be a best of seven final. It will be a 3am bedtime in the morning unless it goes to overtime.Fast day today so i will be trying a new Kirsty meal, meatballs, hope i like them not something i normally have.Jean my mate lives in Derbyshire,he lives in Edale just round the corner from the railway station.

    Afternoon All..

We have got here and all set up…lovely site lots of fir trees, we are all in small clearings..

Been out for a NW but not long as quite muddy and down a steep hill so the thought on returning back up put Steve off….seen a car park on the flat not far away so we will park up tomorrow and have another proper walk on the edge of the reservoir…

We are going into Ashbourne in the morning for a walk round and a cafe stop..then walking in the afternoon..

All is well here only drinks so far to keep us going, we have had breakfast….roast beef salad this evening nice and easy…

    Minols..
A silent disco..never heard of it…but sounds good to my ears…hope your meeting went better than you thought, and you could pacify everyone..

    Cakey Wakey..
A new one for me ‘cracking eggs with sticks’…is that busy?…..apparently we are in the Peak District….keep with the sun it’s dull here…

    Pseu..
Hope you are feeling better further into the day…that Meetup site is interesting we have sent him a message..thanks..

    Lynne..
A good clear out ready to paint have a busy day….keep you mind off food…lol

    Dave..
Enjoy your meatballs hope the come up to standard..

    Kay..
How is it going…are you fasting today…

Tyhpoo, DF and lulu are you fasting today too…you are all very quiet…

    Have a great day..

    Jean x

Jean, sounds very nice, I love being in amongst the trees spotting birds. I think the New Forest is my favourite for that sort of thing.

I’m having a ‘super fast’ day since I’ve continued being ill through most of the day. It’s only now it’s really easing off. I don’t want to tempt fate by eating or drinking anything, I’ll try some water when I get home and then maybe I’ll have an oxo cube later to try to get my salt and fluids back up.

I tried that ice cream I mentioned a while ago, I went for the chocolate one, I quite liked it. Of course, it’s not on par with normal chocolate ice cream but is a good way of satisfying a craving without ruining things.

Forgot it’s speedway tonight,I took Denise out for her walk and was looking for a bag for her again 😁 also I almost got Heidi’s lead off the wall 😁😁 she said am I going to put her food in a bowl and put it on the floor for her😃

Pseudo- you didn’t go into work did you? Poor you, you should be tucked up in bed! Good for weight loss, not much fun though!
Jean- glad you’re settled in, sounds nice. We went to Ashbourne a few years ago, it’s lovely, & walked round Carsington water- is that where you’re going tomorrow? There’s paths all round I think, so should be easier walking for Steve. And yes, birthdays are definitely worth it, it’s only one day a year you get to be spoilt, life’s a bit boring otherwise! It’ll soon come off again!
Lynne- hope you get caught up today & your FD goes well!
Minols- how was your meeting, I hope it was easier than you thought…
Cakey- hope you had a good day catching up too, lovely to get our early in the mornings with your dog, now it’s light.
Dave- hope the meatballs are good! Poor Denise needing a lead & bags for her walkies…
Kay- how’s your back? Are you fasting with us?
FDs gone quite well, but did cook one of my favourite meals for the others by mistake- stayed strong while I dished it up though!
Hope all you fasters are doing okay!

    Hedgehog..
Yes The campsite is on Carsington Water..we can see the water through the trees we are a bit up the hill….we have drove up and down and found a car park near by…..hopefully tomorrow afternoon easy paths to walk on…poles out 😀…

    Dave..
You are awful to poor Denise…mistaking her for Heidi….😂

Finished and waiting to eat tomorrow…a b2b…it seems a while since we have eaten…all is well here..

Good luck on all the fasters this evening..

    Jean x

Just catching up on everyone’s updates. I thought it was quiet for a Monday then realised I wasn’t getting email notifications. Struggled today and smacked in biscuits and chocolate mid afternoon. So cut back on dinner this evening to compensate and have walked 5 miles over 3 walks today so I’ll take that for today.

    Next fast Wednesday for me.

Hope everyone’s evening is ok and not too tempting.

Pseudo hope you’re feeling better tomorrow.

Lynne, having a sort before the decorating a good plan, do it in stages rather than over do it. Have a good day at work tomorrow.

Will keep fingers crossed for sunshine tomorrow Jean, have a lovely day.

Night every one, few more jobs and then an early noght I think, feeling a bit tired

    CW

HH – Yep, went to work. That’s the problem with working for a really small family business, if there’s any way to drag myself in I have to. I was going to go home after doing the vital stuff if it stayed bad but by that time it was starting to ease off and it was already 3pm anyway.
Good on you resisting your favourite meal! I really don’t know how I’d manage cooking for other people and having nothing.

Jean – A walk around the lake sounds lovely, fingers crossed for decent weather. Grey and raining here, and looks set to stay that way.

How are all you other fasters doing? Not long now.

Speedway going well, cold hands though, only had 400 calories up to now.

Resorted to ironing tonight to keep myself busy!! Have done a Lynne, & just had black coffee… now going to watch The Island with Bear Grylls, they’re all moaning about how hungry they are so feel in good company!
Enjoy the speedway, Dave- how were the meatballs?

Sort of managed a FD but a bit high….ended up just a bit over 600 cals.
Sounds like others have had a good FD.

Lovely weekend of weather, all gone now and back to grey and rainy.
Luckily there are places round here to go to which arent flooded with tourists….yet anyway!

Osteopath appt tomorrow although my back is much better now, just a bit of stiffness and tingling still.

Going to have a read over weekend posts to catch up x

Pseu, hope you feel better tomorrow and its just a 24hr bug.

Jean and Steve, enjoy your walk tomorrow and hope it stays dry for you.

Lynne, not much more to do with decorating at home. Take it easy though now you are back to work.

Dave, hope the speedway was good. Is it hockey again tonight? How were the meatballs?

CW, at least you did a walk today to balance out, I did nothing today, apart from a walk around the garden to see how my newly planted plants and seeds were doing!

HH, well done for serving up one of your favs and resisting. I watched The Island too. Not found it as enjoyable this year but seeing them starving for food makes my FD quite luxurious!

Minols, hope your meeting went better than anticipated and you didnt have to play negotiater too much!

Typh00, hows things? Did you fast today?

Lulu, what part of Cornwall were you? You back home now?

    Hope Ive not missed anyone….

I might try another lowish day tomorrow. No breakfast or lunch. Light snack when Im back home after osteopath and food shopping in the afternoon then carb free meal tomorrow night.

I have an interview at Boots on Friday morning for a trainee pharmacy advisor so Ive been reading up on what a competency based interview is likely to be like! I had to complete and pass an online competency and personality questionnaire before being accepted for interview! I’m not sure about the job now though as its weekends only which I initially thought was ok with the week free, but it will limit some socialising. Neil reckons I should go for IV anyway and take it from there. So Ill probably do that.

I want to plan our first camping trip but checking the weather forecast I think I will leave it a bit.

Anyone fasting Tuesday, be strong and work on giving that body a rest.

Just remembered that there is a circuits type of exercise group starting on the nearby beach soon, but its a very early morning meet, so still thinking on it! Want to check out the facilities of the local swimming pool and eventually get round to taking my bike out and even trying a run. I need to work on my fitness, its pretty poor at the moment.

Best get some sleep. At this rate Ill be watching hockey with Dave!

    Morning all!
Kay- glad you joined us yesterday! Hope that your osteopath appt. goes well & that they can get rid of all the twinges. Well done getting the interview, I think it can be hard with some of the big chains!
Woke really early this morning, forgot to take my nerve pain medication yesterday, so that didn’t help, as it does help me sleep a bit as well… I’ll probably crash out later. Seeing my new Home-Start Mum today, but won’t be a long visit for the first one.
    Pseudo- hope you feel better!
Jean & Steve- have a good walk, hope the weather’s okay.
Hope everyone has a good day, & stay strong any one fasting.

    Morning All..

Brightish but rain expected later…we have wet weather gear so not a problem..

Strange as I got breakfast ready this morning..I thought what a change of eating we have made…things which would be here now…..2 x 6 crisps, almonds and mixed nuts, bottle of wine, beer, a box full of cakes or fruit loaf or both, a couple of large blocks of chocolate…ouch..no wonder we were fat..

I have 6 small muesli buns and 2 finger kit kats, two beers, whiskey all untouched as yet…Steve fancied something last night…..I said Fasting! You touch and it will all be left at home..😂..still untouched..lol

    Cakey Wakey..
Glad you managed to pull back..you are out walking well…we should move..

    Pseu..
Hope your tummy has settled and you feel better..shame you couldn’t of snuggled down for the day, still sometimes you can work through it..

    Hedgehog..
Lol when Bear Grlles show..they were hungrier than you…did you keep strong? Have a good day with your young home start family…

    Kay..
Hope all goes well on Marks and Spences interview today…back with the fasting well done..pleased your back is getting better..

    Have a lovely day all…

    Jean x

    Morning everyone.

Belly still in revolt unfortunately. I’m starting to feel like a prune. I’m looking quite svelte this morning, so that’s something, lol.

    Who’s fasting today?

    Morning everyone
Thought I’d introduce myself. I’ve only been doing this fast diet a week but have been reading about it for awhile so thought I’d give it a go. I’ve lost 3pounds so far having done 3 FD’s so feeling very motivated to keep at it now and that was with a night out at a Chinese on Saturday. I would love to lose at least a stone or more by August ready for a friends wedding and holiday.
Today’s another FD and going well so far, fingers crossed.

    Afternoon All…

A mornings walk around Ashbourne it was very empty today, a cafe and cake stop…called in some antique shops some lovely things on offer…but we are too modern …..came back to do our walk and it’s torrential rain ☹️…giving it a hour before calling off our walk..I don’t mind rain but too heavy to enjoy ….

Love the sound of rain on the caravan very soothing…getting my book out…

    Pseu…
Any thoughts on what you have eaten to cause the problem…hope it soon eases…

    Angie..
Welcome to our group…3 lbs off first week is very good..pop by and join us, it helps a lot…

    Jean x

The meatballs were ok, will have again, yes it was hockey,I ect to bed at 3am,we won so it goes to a decisive game on Thursday at 12-30 am,I will miss it because I have to be up early to take Denise to hospital, so will have to hope they win, they will play Tampa of they get through. Jean you still have beer add kit jars not had either for over 2 months 😂😂😂😵😵😵

Pseudo- sorry you’re still not feeling great- but good for the figure! Hope it does improve soon, is it a bug or did you eat something iffy?
Angie- hi, & welcome to the group! 3lbs is good with a night out too- that’s the good thing about 5:2, you can have days off!
Jean- shame about the weather, but it is cosy in a caravan in the rain, great with a good book or pack of cards. You & Steve are being very disciplined with the wine & food! (We used to have a bottle of wine between us most nights when we went to our caravan- & we had most of the school summer holidays up there, oops!)
Dave- I waved to you this morning- I got up not long after you went to bed!
Fell asleep on the settee after lunch for a power nap, popped in to see neighbours for a chat after that.

Just managed 45 min walk with our poles, rain easing off before settling down with tv..

    Dave..
We need treats after 2 1/2 years on 5.2 when away, it’s a way of life and it has to fit in….well down on what we used to bring…

    Hedgehog..
We expected this weather but it should of been through the night..never mind. Still nice….we used to bring 12 cans of beer and a couple of bottles of wine and all the rest…I bring the bare minimum so you only eat what’s here…..just a few treats….😀

    Have a good evening…

    Jean x

The two things I miss the most chocolate and beer thinking of where to go with Denise for a holiday or short stay in England, hopefully going to Cyprus in October.I will wave next time Hedgehogs.

Morning all! I’m fasting today- anyone joining me?

    Morning everyone

Dave, nice to plan for a holiday, Denise should be fully mobile by October.

Jean, shame the weather turned and you weren’t able to go for your walk. Wet is one thing, drenched another.

Kay, good luck with the osteopath and the interview. Even if the hours don’t suit you may be able to change them in the future.

Pseudo, hope you’re feeling better and able to eat today. Today is Varsity in Swansea, so hopefully you’ve headed away from the chaos this morning and the extra traffic wont affect you.

Angie, well done on the 3lb so far. It’s easier with company.

    CW, are you fasting today?

Minols, Typh00, DF, hope you’re all alright.

Hedgehogs, I’m fasting today with you, CW as well I think.

Just having a quick coffee before off to work. Got a bit of a headache coming, blaming Bec as she’s got a stinking cold and I can feel the start of it. Hopefully a brisk walk will help clear my head and I’ll go armed with tissues.

Jumped on the scales and have held my weight from Monday’s FD. First time that’s happen in a while so hopefully this week will see things going back in the right direction.

    Have a great day everyone.

    Lynne x

    Morning all.
Decided against a FD today. I’ve been thing about a new strategy for my NFD… It occurred to me as I was making up the boy’s lunch this morning to try eating like a nearly 9 year old – without the haribo, obviously! Frequently our portions are a similar size in the evening so we’ll see how it goes!

Keeping things simple today. And tomorrow will be a sort of FD… ie I won’t eat during the day but I’ll just have a small portion of the family meal… It has to be macaroni cos my best friend is over to see the boy and that’s the tradition! Hence the need to keep today simple, light but enough so I don’t spiral out of control like I sometimes do.

So I’ve had my toast and honey, and I’ve got my little boy pack up in my bag (minus the peppermint – could not bear that!) and then I’ll have an early but little boy tea… And that will be it today! The OH is working late so easy to avoid big grown up portions.

Hope you’re feeling better today, Pseu. And that you and Steve avoid the showers, Jean.

    Have a good one everyone.

    Mx

PS nice to meet you, Angie – welcome aboard.

    Morning All..

Sun is out and we are off for a walk on the side of Carsington Water….we did one last night between heavy rain…I thought it would be flat but quite up and down…lol

    Dave..
I just love holidays anywhere would be nice …but Cyprus sounds good..I haven’t been there…we are trying to see all our lovely country too…having a job to get insurance to fly for Steve 😡…

    Hedgehog..
    NFD for us…fasting tomorrow…have a lovely day…

    Lynne..
Hope you don’t come down with anything and you shake the headache off…looking good on the scales, hope they move..😀

    Minols..
Have a good day…hope all the food plan works well enjoy the macaroni with your friend…and catch up..

    Jean x

    Morning all.

Weather’s looking better here today, hopefully it’ll be brighter up your neck of the woods Jean and you’ll be able to go walkies today. 😉

Lynne, I had no idea about Varsity – it that the unis pitted against each other? I’m in Pyle for the day so shouldn’t affect me. Hopefully Bec’s cold won’t manifest for you!

Minols, the ‘little boy’ eating plan! You’ll have to let us know how that goes or if it just makes you hungrier.

I’m feeling okay today, fasting though, the last two days have been an FD (though did hit 500 yesterday when I decided to try eating late), so might as well hold off today and get in my usual three.

Welcome Angie! 3lb is a great start.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

Im on a NFD today, just had a Finns rye cracker with goat cheese and sauerkraut for breakfast, abit late I know but I’m not much of a breakfast person. Also trying to do the clever guts diet on NFD’s as i suffer from eczema and want to get that under control aswel so been making my own kefir and sauerkraut for awhile now.

Hope everyone has a good day.

    Angie x

    Pseu…
A hours walk and sun was out, just got to the cafe and the heavens opened so we were lucky. Steve a bit slow as we haven’t done so much this last couple of weeks…bright again one of those days…

Well done on your three fasts and been unwell…glad you feel better…

    Angie…
We are fasting again tomorrow..there’s lots of things out there to help different ailments hope it helps your eczema…we are doing this for health not just weight loss..

    Hedgehog..
How is your fast going at least you are with Pseu today…..

We are going to Bakewell for a walk a bit later…a reading at the moment…and having a rest.

    Jean x

Lol, reading that I immediately thought Bakewell tarts. Mmmm.

My neighbour has just been take to hospital via an ambulance,i went round last night and he said he would be going in hospital,so he gave me his money to look after and i have to pay his bills also.He said take the triple chocolate cake home with me so that will be an hardship. Not sure what to do about the hockey,it starts at 12-30am but i have to get Denise to hospital for physio in the morning, will see how i feel, may have to make do with 5 hours sleep.

Pseudo- glad you’re feeling better, hope FD no.3 goes well! Are you still not getting on the scales too often?
Minols- sounds like a plan! Hope you manage today!
Jean- glad you got a walk in, have a nice time in Bakewell, & keep away from the tarts…
Lynne- hope you steer clear of the cold & that work keeps you away from food!
Dave- hope your neighbour’s okay, & that Denise’s appt. goes well. Cyprus sounds good, Denise should be fine sitting on the plane & getting about then.
Angie- hope you enjoyed your breakfast!
Kay- hope that the osteopath’s was okay…
Very impressed with myself today- we decided to go to Cambridge for the day, which was lovely- it’s not that far, but other than the operations at Addenbrooks, we’ve never been! There were so many lovely cafes & food stalls etc., very tempting, but I stayed strong… had a diet coke- don’t normally drink soft drinks, but it kept me going for a few hours without hunger pangs!
Aiming for liquid only again, feeling good so far, hope everyone else is…

That’s right, I don’t weigh, I just go by how my clothes are fitting and how I feel. I hate the up and down emotions of getting on the scales, and I hate getting caught up on the importance of numbers. Right now my jeans are loose, my belly is not looking too bad so I’m happy – but if I got on the scales and found out I was a pound or two heavier than I expected I’d be beating myself up and it’d knock my confidence. I’ll have to weigh every now and then just to get an idea on whereabouts I am in relation to my target weight, but I find my jeans are definitely a good indicator.

Very well done on avoiding all those tasty treats in the cafes!

    Dave…
Hoping your neighbour is OK..you are good sorting him out…

    Hedgehog..
You did better than us…cake and coffee, scales won’t be very good for us this week…..😬..Cambridge is a lovely walk around…….no Bakewell and no temping of a tart…lol…lazy afternoon…

    Pseu..

    Jean x

Nightmare tv has packed up and ice hockey is very exciting, got to try and work something out using my laptop.

    Morning all!
Dave- hope you got to watch the hockey, & hope you can get the TV sorted today, not good!
Jean- have a safe journey home! Did you watch the programme? Saw most of it, not much new I didn’t think- horrible BIL lives in Newcastle (& the whole of his family need to lose weight) so we watched it in case we saw him!!
Have had a few discussions with hubby about weight, he thinks he can lose it gradually just by cutting out extras, I think that’s perhaps not enough… I don’t think he could fast though as he has funny blood sugar levels & they drop really suddenly. Keto would probably suit him better, I’m working on it!
Hope everyone else is okay- & good luck to the fasters!
I haven’t had breakfast, & strangely not very hungry- I wonder if there’s a psychological element to it with me- normally after FDs I plan my breakfast & look forward to it, get really hungry, but today we’re out early, so I told myself I wouldn’t have anything, & that’s that! I think I might be into the ‘fat adapted’ stage of keto now, where body is more efficient at using fat for fuel… 1lb down on the scales, it’s not gone from the bottom half as the jeans I want to get into are still tight. Is that a 🙂 or a 🙁 ?!

    Morning All..

A bright start…up and running early..half packed as we start to get ready …shower, dressed and breakfast had and just having a cuppa…

Away for 10 but possibly before….

A birthday for daughter 46 goodness it makes you feel old it feels like yesterday…

    Hedgehog..
I agree…Nothing new on the programme…another different one tonight…I think they don’t go into the right way..show people on the plate, size, portions and normal food…we are ok as we know or nearly…

Hope you get hubby on board, can you do it without him knowing you are doing it, changing slowly a bit less here and there…cut down on baking? Were is his problem?

Steve is very good but slips here and there, we are fasting and he had two whiskeys last night 😡 but he has big big daughter problems and he had a need..I never said anything…just don’t know what to do in that direction…seeing his sister for her views on Sunday hopefully…

    Dave…
Hope you saw the game on the laptop 🤞

Who is joining us fasting today?

    Jean x

    Morning all.

HH, it’s a lb off so it’s definitely still a :)! Well done.

I didn’t watch the fat program, not much of a mystery why people are fat. The BBC website had an article that was linked to it yesterday where you fill in your details and it compares you to other people in your age range in your area. I think 42% of the people in my area in my age range were heavily overweight or obese, a bit grim.

There was a trailer on one of the rubbishy cable channels last night for a program called ‘My 600lb Life.’ I don’t understand how anyone can let themselves get to that stage! That’s 42 stone! How could they not reach a point and think ok, time to stop now. There was a guy on the trailer crying saying he liked eating. We all like eating, everyone likes eating. I try to be sympathetic in most situations but when someone is that huge and they show what they eat I can’t help but be a bit annoyed. So I’ll be giving that show a miss!

Not hungry this morning, I never am after my FDs strangely. I think my bod goes into hibernation until I eat something small and then my appetite comes back. Something a bit odd that happened last night, I have these ‘healthy’ quinoa crisps I buy, about 100 cals a pack, and decided to have one of those as a snack. Ready salted flavour, and I suddenly had this weird hankering to add more salt on them, which I’ve never done before, and I ended up chasing every last bit of salt out of the pack. Perhaps my salt levels were right down after being so sick and then fasting, but it seemed I definitely needed the salt. I wonder if my blood pressure was low?

I’m curious, aside from immediate family you live with, do you guys tell people you’re doing 5:2? I mentioned it to one of my friends ages ago, but generally I don’t talk about it, my parents don’t know because I think my mother would think fasting was too extreme and not healthy, and I don’t want to get into a debate about it. Have any of you had bad responses?

Also did I read that one of you was using a trampette? I’m thinking of getting mine back out to use on the days between running. Haven’t been able to run at all this week as my hip is still giving me a bit of jip. 🙁

Good luck to those fasting today. To the new guys, remember to check in, it does help to have people to talk to. 😀

Hello from a newbie, starting today first fast day. Haven’t had breakfast yet but I’ve decided on weetabix. I am actually looking forward to trying this. So fingers crossed, nice to see so many fellow brits giving it a go.

    Morning All

FD for me today also. No breakfast though, if I eat in the morning I’m starving all day so will eat a small snack about 2pm if I can last that long then a bigger dinner tonight.

Hi Salherts. I only started a week ago and am enjoying it so far. Good luck with your first fast day.

Hi Salherts & welcome to you! Hope that you manage your FD, there’s usually someone on here whatever day you fast for encouragement. Keep up with lots of drinks…
Angie, glad you’re back on, hope the day goes well for you too!
Pseudo- shame your hip is still hurting… I’ve got the mini trampoline, I do rebound following a class etc. on Youtube- at the moment I’m only doing 15 mins ones for beginners- I’m terrible for going OTT with exercise & getting an injury, so I do smaller sessions- I’ve been doing (or trying!!) some skipping, cycling sometimes & other exercises, trying to build up. It might be good for your hip? Re. the salt- you probably lost electrolytes with your upset tummy & then fasting on top, so need to get some salt back into you. I’ve watched an interesting interview with a doctor who says the advice on low salt is bulkum, we need more! You lose a lot with keto, so I’ve been adding it more to my food- & it’s so good!
Jean- poor Steve with his daughter problems, why are families so difficult… I hope his sister can help out. I’m sure the whiskey was very needed!
Hummy’s problem is sweet stuff & carbs, & it’s all gone on his stomach which is the worst place, plus his back, weirdly! He has been asking a bit about the keto, & I’m going to try some more bread recipes & some wraps as he has a lot of that sort of thing. If they’re okay, then I think he’ll give it a go, maybe. He’s been good about not eating the cake stuff I make for the boys, & having less chocolate, so he is making an effort. He’s pretty sedentary too, can’t do anything other than walking because of his back, which is a shame (he used to be sporty & did loads of martial arts, but hasn’t been able to for years 🙁 )
    Keep strong fasters!
