Fasting while travelling

  • Hi, I have just started the 5:2 diet and am feeling great after just over a week. I lost 8lbs mostly because it really helped me focus on what I eat on my non fast days. However I travel a lot with my job and have a two week trip to the US coming up where it will be impossible to control what I eat to 500 cals. I’m expected at lunches and dinners. So my question is, if I stop fasting for these two weeks, will it undo the health benefits I am already experiencing? What do others do when travelling or on holiday?

    Suz – one of the reasons I like this diet is because it seems ok to stop and start – at least it’s very easy! When my family was visiting a couple of months ago, I just ate normally without any fasting days as it would have been a bit antisocial. I found it a little difficult to get back into, but no more difficult than it was when I first started.
