You are not alone. I am about the same height and need to lose about 7 kg. I have been doing the 5:2 for four weeks and have lost just shy of 2 kg so it really works. It also gets easier every time you fast and I have even started to enjoy fast days. It’s a relief to feel hungry sometimes and I can also feel that I am beginning to feel more positive generally speaking.
Hi there, this must be the 5′ 2 thread as I’m also 5′ 2. I’ve been doing 5:2 for about 3 weeks now and have lost 1½kg so far, another 10kg to reach my target weight of 55kg. The fast days get easier, and it really helps if you can keep yourself busy. I find that the hunger comes and goes in waves so if you can stop yourself thinking about food then it should subside.
Today is actually a fast day for me and I am starting to feel peckish but no more than on a usual day as I don’t eat breakfast (nothing to do with calories, just can’t bear the thought of eating first thing in the morning).
My children eat leftovers on fast days as I don’t want to cook anything that will need tasting.
Hi rlane
Hang in there, it really does get easier and crazy as it seems fasting days do become enjoyable. I sometimes think maybe it’s down to control. We control so little in our lives. I hate the fact that I can’t control myself when it comes to what I put in my mouth so when I fast it reinforces the fact that I can control myself.
You can do it.
Sorry I am not 5’2″ I am a 6′ guy!!
Bigby
Good luck rlane on you weigh in.
Might I bore you with a bit more info that might help. On our fast days my wife and I plan out what we intend to eat, it’s not set in stone but at least we have a structure to go by. We then add a few back up options to get us through the moments when we struggle. Lots of herbal tea on hand, a cup soup, either home made or packet, we find stock cubes excellent as well, alright they have a fair bit of salt but are only a few calories and if you add some maggi (more salt!) they taste nice and savoury, maybe some carrots and celery to chew on, they all help.
It really is all about mindset, don’t think about the meals you are missing out on, think about how you are freeing yourself from the three meal a day treadmill. God that sounds so evangelical, sorry. I just hate the fact that we all have food thrown at us all the time,,,,,by the way I love food, I just need to be stronger re my will power. I will look out for your first result.
Cheers
B
Well done on your weight loss, don’t get dispirited. It’s also worth taking your measurements because some weeks you may not lose much weight but your vital stats will probably have improved. Remember, baby steps. It’s not good to lose weight quickly anyway. I always tell myself that I didn’t put the weight on overnight so it’s not going to come off overnight either.
