  • Hello,

My friend and I decided to have a pre-easter 5:2 competition. Between us we’ve probably done every diet going in the last 10 years. I have much more weight to lose than she does, at least 4 stone for me and probably only a stone for her.

Amazingly we’ve both lost 10lbs in the 3.5 weeks we’ve been on the 5:2 plan. It was really hard at first but the fast days are they are gradually getting easter. I think I need to start varying what I eat though. Breakfast invariably consists of 2 hard boiled eggs and dinner is salad either fish, prawns or mozarrella with baby plum tomatoes and a smidge of olive oil. On my other 5 days I’m not doing anything particularly different, although my appetite appears suppressed on some days and ravenous on others.

I do find that I can’t exercise on my fast days, currently training for a 10k run next month.

thats very good and very inspiring to me as I have just joined today

so for breakfast you just have 2 hard boiled eggs and nothing else

    and then nothing till dinner?

    I am doing mine tomorrow

I am going to be steady and do the same thing for breakfast and dinner as otherwise too much thought puts me off

that’s right lulu65, I normally just have boiled eggs with a bit of salt and pepper and then nothing until my evening meal. today I did cook a tin of chopped tomatoes with some garlic and chilli and crack the eggs into it, just for a bit of variety. This will mean I’ll have to eat a smaller dinner tonight though.

I did try and have porridge with almond milk (fewer calories than cows milk) for breakfast one morning but carbs are just not as filling as protein.

I find that drinking fizzy water and fruit tea throughout the day has helped.

I’m just amazed at how well this diet is working and how it is making me feel.

    good luck.
