  • Hey everyone!

Looking for (and give) encouragement, motiviation and general stories!

I’m 32 girl in London and I started 5:2 yesterday.
I had a bit of a rough start yesterday, really bad headache and again this morning.
I’ve eaten quite a bit today so I’m hoping it isn’t going to be counter-productive.
Does your body eventually get used to it?

    Many thanks guys!

Hi and welcome – I am relatively new here but have found the forum to be a great source of info and a great distraction too! I started Jan 5 and have lost around 6 lbs so far although I do tend to fluctuate a bit but weigh myself every day which I know is not a good thing! I also had headaches for the first 3 or so FDs and yes they do improve and you do get used to fasting – having said that I still find it hard and I think about food constantly – my downfall is in the evening when I am surrounded by temptations! I also get over excited on my non FDs and think I eat too much – I don’t calorie count which is probably a mistake but I just wanted this to become a way of life rather than seeing it as a diet! How much do you want to lose? I would like to lose another 10 lbs or so.

    Good luck!!!

    Thanks Janey!
Pleased to hear you’re doing so well.

    I’ve probably over eaten today!
I’m going to try and reign it in on non fast days and stick to MFP app as I do on fast days.

I’ve taken to Instagram to photo document my food intake – seems to help too. My @ is the same as my username here, I’ve started following a bunch of people also on the 5:2.

I’m a size 12 that said, I’ve always been really slim. I got quite ill (and then lazy!) not to mention older! – so I’d like to get down to whatever possible.
I’m not going to put too much pressure on myself to lose, first I wanna make sure I’m doing it right, and feel less bloated and more healthy really ..

I’ve started to plan my fast day tomorrow already. I basically save all of my points until the evening ..

I do the same with keeping my kcal allowance until night. In my mind it works better to allow the body complete rest between meals, as well as stopping me from eating too much in one day by using up my kcal allowance too soon and being hungry later – this way my meal is always getting nearer – not further behind me…

good luck with your journey – it works – 8 labs down for me in just under a month…. as i say it works – but it is slow progress – a changed way of life as opposed to a new fad diet!

Hello, this is my first week too and 2 fasts done.

I tried it last year and wasn’t too careful on the NF days so I’m tracking via MyFitnessPal app too. Hopefully just until I get into the way of things.

Today seemed easier than Monday I think but really too early to tell.

I wish I could get out of the weighing myself every day habit. It’s definitely counter-productive. I tell myself it helps because if scales show I’ve lost weight then I’m motivated to stick to it, if they show I haven’t then that gives me the encouragement to stick with it. That’s my theory anyway.

    Good luck x

Yay! We can be new fast buddies! 🙂

Today was my fast day & I ended up eating nothing all day. I had a coffee with 1 sugar & semi skimmed, green tea & water. I was so busy at work so I guess that was a godsend!
I’ve had a nice dinner & then will have a treat before bed now. I won’t bite you with the details but you can see my photo food diary on insta @moreaboutmyself. I just started that as an added incentive.

I tried & gave up the 5:2 before also, I think cos I suffer from reflux & when I’m not eating for a while it causes issues & can be painful.
Decided to try again though. Lots of people I know have lost weight & enjoy this new way of living.

Well done on the weightloss @jonno79
@cakeywakey you def need to break that habit. I don’t weigh myself at all otherwise I’d be a bit obsessive! Lol .. I will be able to tell by the ways my clothes fit x
