    Day 11 – USA/GA – NFD

Weigh-in: 237 lbs. @funshipfreddie LOL, it caught up with me today with 2 lbs gained. We’ve been fortunate so far with no power interruptions. Winds are gusting today, so still have to wait it out. Roads are frozen solid. I’ll probably make Monday my next FD.

Day 11 – Rural Nebraska, USA – NFD

The kangaroo chili was delightful, and very different from any other chili recipe I’ve ever made or tasted…I think it’s a new member of our regular rotation. One of the odd things was that it was served over rice; is that typical for the rest of you when eating chili? A typical thing here in the Midwest, and I think actually throughout the country, is to have a cinnamon roll with chili. That’s a tradition I’ve never embraced, LOL. Here: https://www.argusleader.com/story/life/2019/08/22/south-dakota-school-lunch-food-favorite-chili-cinnamon-roll-origin/2054317001/

@iona72 How’d your RESOLVE last yesterday on wine Friday? 😉

And for all who are keeping track of the heartbreak in LA, a huge culprit of how out of control the fires are would be the Santa Ana winds; here’s a link if you want to read about them: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santa_Ana_winds Another issue is the $17,000,000 cut to the fire department’s budget, which didn’t allow them to access some equipment that would have helped. It’s all terribly heartbreaking.

@funshipfreddie Glad you got new tires for less than you were anticipating; that’s always a treat!

@jaifaim Safe and happy travels to you!

@brightonbelle I loving reading your daily report of strength and RESOLVE; well done!

I usually sleep through DH’s alarm, whatever day it is, but this morning’s 5:30 alarm woke me up, sadly, so it’ll be a l.o.n.g. day! But I’m going to continue knitting the sleeve cuff; I’m determined to get that thing done quickly. Well, “quickly” being a relative term, LOL, since I started it 6 January 2023! 😟🤣

    Have a grand one, everyone!

    Morning All…
What a beautiful walk this morning, I enjoy these frosty days no muddy feet.

A surprise I weighted in as I forgot yesterday.. over a pound off.. must be Dave’s cake and chocolate diet !!
Well it’s put me back on board Now!!

    Hemmy..
6 hours walking is a lot, no wonder you are aching.. I don’t like shopping that much. I didn’t like the sound of your dinner!!
I have a gallon water bottle which I carry for Charlie’s feet washing… it was solid ice in the car. I have never had that before.

    Couscous..
I can go weeks without the hunger feeling.. then all of a sudden I can eat like a horse..sometimes I go with the flow.. then it passes and I am ok again.
I am not a great food eater, I eat to live not live to eat.. I think the saying is…

    Dave..
Chloe must get cold the way you dress her up to keep her warm , she has thin fur like Charlie.
You are catching me up 71 getting old now..😂

    Have a good weekend….

Dixon of Dock Green 😃.I used to watch it. It all depends how you feel, if it’s going well then stay with it. My problem is as soon as I eat I want more. I’ve done 40 hours fasting but one you eat that’s it I am like a Tasmanian devil 👿😈. I’ll be 71 this month and I’m the youngest on the bowling team. Still very nippy outside but warming up by Monday.

  • The Very Fast 800

Just been asked how many people I cook for which is the two of us?
Question is the recipe and shopping list for one person or two ?

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

FD Saturday for me as DD is coming to spend two nights on the boat tomorrow. It’s just easier when I’m not left with a single FD portion for the next week’s FD. Still in the 59s.

GDSA, without knowing the full story, reading your last post made my blood boil. That was a lovely gesture you & your DD made for your mother and her friend. But the disdain shown by the foreign owners and workers towards the nursing home elders’ culture and traditions was sickening. How mean-spirited not to bother putting up a few Christmas decorations. If that lack of respect were directed the other way, one can only imagine the woke uproar.

Anzac, what exciting plans you have to move to FNQ. I look forward to hearing how they evolve. You did mention a little catering business before (which would be my idea of the ultimate stress) but I know you both love cooking so it sounds ideal for you.

Cinque, good op shop finds, many of the traditional high street shops have disappeared from English towns these days but they have been replaced with charity shops. This market town has about seven! I get my supply of WASGIJ puzzles from them. I have noticed that the prices have risen significantly since we arrived.

CalifD, I was talking to my uni friend who lives in San Diego yesterday. They’re currently in San Felipe but she said they could smell the bush fire smoke all that way south (SD, not SF). Hope you’re doing alright.

It was -5C overnight. We are completely iced in. Ducks and swans are walking tentatively across the basin and yesterday was the first day I didn’t see the three kingfishers (two males, one female). They move on when the canal is iced over. Someone on the towpath said they saw one of the males at Sainsbury’s which made me laugh (he wasn’t shopping, there’s a stream running behind it). At least the sun was out all day yesterday, what a difference that makes over the gloom and, yay, the days are getting longer.

Lindsay, your post arrived while I was faffing about with mine. Glad you’re enjoying island life.

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

    Hi all.
Island living is suiting me, clearly. I’ve lost a kilo, although I am not as rigid as I am at home, but I think the extra walking and staying pretty tight to a Mediterranean diet is helping. I loved a big pot of chilli chorizo beans I made just after new year, to help with some dodgy digestion issues, so made another pot over here minus the chorizo, and it’s a great breakfast.
We’ve had a great couple of days with some setter friends – one woman we met about 4 year ago on the beach here, with her two old setter girls (sugar faces, we call the old ones with the beautiful grey faces) and coincidentally when she got her new puppy, her breeder (also ours) put her in contact with us. I’ve traced back their pedigrees and surprise, surprise. Her 20 month old is my Rosy’s aunt (rosy’s grandfather is the young one’s father – how funny is that). Then we met up today with my lovely vet who took one of Rosy’s puppies and the 4 played so beautifully together. They sure were show stoppers on our off-leash beach (and not a dodgy anal gland between them 🙂

Cinque whoo hoo for your op shop find. I don’t do much good with op shopping for clothes, but when in Melbourne last year found a hand-made Vietnamese noodle bowl that was an almost exact match for one I’d been given. You can see from the irregularities they ae handmade but same same in all other respects. Such a find, because I now have two noodle bowls for the two of us.

Thin and Anzac I think our housing stories are pretty much the same. OH and I bought a house before we married (with my savings…his ‘bad’ wife took half of everything, and he spent his share buying a home for his parents who’d sold up to go overseas, but stayed to care for his young childen). We worked up from there – 2 kids, then 3 then 4, few meals out, lots and lots of family picnics, although none of it felt like a sacrifice because we could see where we needed to be and what we had to do to get there. My kids have been the same, bless them. Save, save. Difference is we were able to give them that last bit to get them over the line. But most came from their own hard work and endeavours, and both now have lovely homes (and the bonus is they are close by, after living away for years).
Gday, what a same your Christmas was spoiled by the poor catering, and by your brother’s mean spirited act. But how lovely you shared lunch with your mother, and were able to bring joy to another resident.
Anzac your relocation with your father sounds like a lovely plan. How lucky you are to have him. Here’s to finding a job that pays a motza, but without the stress of your past contracts.
Neil I’m with you on Djokavic. I cannot – cannot – bear him. I think he is a cheat, for a start. Medical time outs, etc. And this rubbish about being poisoned while in hotel quarantine in Australia, and saying it was political. It was border force that deported him, after he lied on his visa application. So, ABD for me (anyone but djokavic).
There are quite a few local players in the AO whose names I recognise, but I think the changing of the guard has brought a whole lot of new names that I’ll have to get used to.
And finally, those fires Calif. Oh how shocking they are. Unbelievable. Someone compared it to having half a dozen Melbourne bayside suburbs on fire. Just impossible to imagine.

Good night everyone – be safe and happy.

    Day 11 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – NFD

@ccco – I think I understood what you meant? 🤯 🤣 You want to ensure you use up your whole FD calorie allowance? I make my FDs as simple & inflexible as possible, by deciding what I’ll eat beforehand & then sticking it. I wish I could do that on NFDs too 🙄

@molij – it’s winter in California too! Not exactly mid-west wintery, & it’s hard to imagine the fires could get any worse, but maybe they would be if this was happening in the summer 🤔 Sorry for your bad news re the biopsy, but I’ve heard they’re virtually painless & only take a few minutes 🤗 I hope you got some good advice from the estate agents re the EPC. We don’t have that here, we just need an electrical compliance certificate & a beetle-free certificate, to prove there are no nasty beasties living in your wooden structures.

@northgeorgia – have you gone on a new UPF-only diet we haven’t heard of? 🤔😅 I hope you’re power is still on 🤞💡

@stitchincarol – you’re dead right about Boo Boo. She loves me when she wants food or wants to snooze on my lap; the rest of the time she treats me with disdain. And yet for some reason my love for her is unconditional 😻 Kangaroo chili?! I had no idea people eat kangaroos?! Ostrich though, yes. Ostrich biltong is very common here.

@iona72 – yes, I got my tyres sorted out, thanks! The place was buzzing, but I was all done within half an hour & I paid a bit less than I was expecting to 🚗

Have a good weekend everyone 🌤🌈

    Me too, Iona.
Its my birthday next week and there are meals with family and friends planned. I have just stood on the scales and am exactly the same as after Christmas, which isn’t much of a surprise.

So , I am starting small and skipping breakfast this morning. I might do the same again tomorrow before a birthday lunch. I just need to get this week done and then in my head it will all be easier.

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

Lindsay we had a lovely lunch with my mum, we asked her friend from the next room to join us as she has no friends or family. The home allowed us to use one of the seperate small dining room areas which was good. We bought mums friend a Xmas present as well and she was so shocked and thankful that we had taken the time to think of her, it was very touching seeing her so happy.

There were a few downsides. A few years ago the home was sold and purchased by an overseas buyer and with that the entire staffing changed so all staff are now from overseas, their English is not so good and they are very hard to understand. The home was not decorated for Xmas. We sat at our table waiting for lunch to be served, they came with the cutlery and just lumped it in the centre of the table, then bought out dessert which was a cold small shop bought fruit pudding with a smidgeon of awful cold packet custard. Then about 20 minutes later the main meal came out one by one. I don’t know what kind of fat the spud, carrot, pumpkin was roasted in but the taste was foul, old fat I’d say. Half the plate was a pea/bean mix which were over cooked to the point where the peas were shriveled and the beans had a grey colour. The meat – ewe, it looked like it had been cooked a week prior, it was like rubber, mum and Miss GDay tried the meat but none of us ate it, I guess it was supposed to be roast lamb ?? Mums plate was the only one to get a smidgeon of gravy. Miss GDay and I had to pay $25 each to have that Xmas lunch. Mum and her friend were actually happy that the meal was hot, they said normally the food is luke warm or cold. Obviously Maggie Beers campaign to improve aged care home food had not made its way to this home.

The other sad event concerns my wonderful family (not !), Miss GDay spent days making mum an embroidery of flowers which we framed as an Xmas present. A few days later when we went back it was nowhere to be found and Mum had no idea where it had gone. I msg’d my sister in law who is the only family member who speaks to me to see if she had seen it when she and her husband (my brother) visited. I was gobsmacked to hear that my brother had removed it and taken it home. That just shows you the hostility I face with them. I have asked my sister in law to return it to me next time we meet for coffee and I will promptly take it back to mums room and super glue it to the wall if I have to to make sure it stays in the room. Just utterly unbelievable how people can behave.

Good weight loss to report. As most of you know, I weigh, do BMI, BF % etc each day and every Saturday I work out my weekly average from the 7 days. This week I’m down 1.4 kg, BMI is down 0.9 and body fat down 0.8. I did a 39 hour water fast earlier in the week and I’ve maintained good ketone levels throughout the week with really high levels during my fast. As we all know the first few weeks always have the greatest loss but very happy it has been more than I was expecting.

I am struggling to get back on track after the holidays but feel today was better than yesterday. All the goodies have just about gone now, hoping DH will finish off at the weekend and next week will be a clean start.

    Day 10 NE England NFD
I feel as though I’ve done a little better today, although it is wine Friday!
I am determined now to get back on track.
@stitchincarol – Date Nut Swirls….delightful, well lets see if they make it to Valentines!!
@molij hope all goes well with biopsy, I think our EPC will also be poor if we come to the decision to sell. Hope it doesn’t affect your chance of a sale.
@jaifaim I love popcorn, once I start I find it hard to stop so avoid at all costs!
@northgeorgia fingers crossed for the power, and hope its an improving forecast as it is here, milder next week thankfully.
@funshipfreddie I hate having to use the credit card, hope you manage a solution.

“Evening All”. Now which Television character said that at the start of one of the most popular TV series ever made? Now 8.35pm coming to the end of 5 straight Blood Sugar 800 Fast Days. At lunch time, 1.00pm I had one of those “Fast 800” Food shakes, Banana flavour, 196 cals, 4.3 carbs and 21.6 gms of protein. I bought the bag as a last alternative for lunch. Have to say not a big fan of the taste but they do fill you up for a few hours. Lazy afternoon, dinner at 6.00pm was a M & S Chicken Stir Fry with Hosin sauce I think. £8.00 to feed 2. Not bad I suppose but nearly 3 hrs later am feeling hungry, in need of wine and some supper. Ist time this week I have felt like this. Does anyone else have a particular meal and then feels as if they could eat “A Store Horse” soon after as we say “Up North”. Will stick it out though, Tomorrow is just another day. Do not know whether to ease of or stick with it for the weekend, will decide tomorrow. Good Night all.

    Day 10 – Rural Nebraska, USA – NFD – 155.8

Supper last night clocked in at 550 calories, and was very satisfying, AND we got to sit smack in front of a gas fireplace. Then, the play (not a musical, don’t know why I thought so) was delightful with some truly funny moments.

@brightonbelle How fun to have the local connection to Black Doves. Do you ever go to that bar? And congratulations on being down 3lbs; that’s a great result of your first week!

@iona72 Yeah, those frozen Christmas goodies have jumped out at me a time or two also. I still have half a “log” of Date Nut Swirls waiting to be baked…I’m thinking they’ll be a perfect Valentine’s Day treat, don’t you think?

@funshipfreddie Yup, I had half a chicken salad sandwich with pecans and cranberries and a small cup of tomato basil soup. Enough carbs to be satisfying and enough flavor to be delightful in the sandwich, and enough warmth (and flavor!) in the soup to combat how cold I get by that time of day on a WF. So…what I’m picking up from your comments about Boo Boo is that yours is a love-hate relationship???? 😂😂😂😂 And bummer on needing two new tires!

@jaifaim Ahh, but at least your two pounds are simply water weight; I’ll just bet you’ll be back down tomorrow, especially after deciding to make today a F800!

@molij Oh, that has to be distressing! When is the needle biopsy? And old homes are so lovely–until you’re faced with the problems that accompany them. I hope you find a reasonable solution that works for your finances!

@ccco Instead of writing down your food on paper, have you tried logging it on My Fitness Pal? There’s a version of MFP that you pay for, but I think all of us in this group find the free version entirely adequte. Perhaps that will help you log your food and calories without making you feel you might as well add more?

@northgeorgia I burst out laughing at your list of what you ate yesterday. Had I eaten all that, I’d be up five pounds!!! So at least you can be thankful for your male metabolism. I hope you keep your electricity! Do either you, your mom, or your brother have a fireplace to help maintain warmth in a power-outage?

I got a little knitting done yesterday, but was too busy with obligations to make much progress; today will have time to knit and I’m looking forward to it. Also on track for today or tomorrow is–you ready?–Kangaroo Chili! For Christmas, DS33 gave us ground kangaroo, ground ostrich (we’re having burgers from it with the boys on Sunday) and elk meat for stew, which is still unscheduled. Oh, and a gorgeous Porterhouse steak, which is currently hanging out in the freezer with the elk and the ostrich. The fun never ends here, huh? 🥰

    Have a grand one, everyone!

    Day 10 – USA/GA – NFD

Weigh-in: 235 lbs. Actually down half a pound after being bad, eating grits and sausage, cookies, doughnuts, cake, pizza, and drinking a bottle of soft drink yesterday. Anyway, the snow has come and it is beautiful! Unfortunately, the freezing rain starts in about an hour and continues until midnight. If you don’t hear from me tomorrow, please remember me because we will have lost power! I’m hopeful not many limbs will crash to the ground and we keep the power on. Not worried about the roads — we’ll be in all weekend as it’s pretty certain a glaze is settling in this afternoon.

I went a little overboard yesterday, so today I am trying to do better. I find that if I eat breakfast, I eat more throughout the day. I also seem to do that when I write everything down. Writing calories down is a problem for me because it’s like money. I see the numbers and automatically I want to add some because I seem to have the space for it. Otherwise I just measure what I eat and down decide I have more calories I can add and still come in where I thought I wanted to be. I don’t know if that makes any sense! LOL. Today I will only measure.

All good with the dentist thankfully @funshipfreddie 👍 and yes I was close to throwing in the towel on Missing You but have battled on through… and have to finish it now.. but have committed to eke out series so will finish it over the weekend. Isn’t it great with streaming that a lot of us can watch the same stuff. 📺♥️

@molj awww I’m so sorry to hear your bad news.. thinking of you and hope you can find a solution for the house problems and that your thyroid biopsy goes ok and that you receive positive news on that …♥️ I’ll wave the next time I’m on the beach… 🤩👋

    Day 9 North Wales NFD

Good fast day yesterday despite having two lots of bad news this week. Three years ago I was diagnosed with a large nodule on my thyroid. The specialist said at the time they would keep their eye on it and on Monday I had a follow up scan. It has changed and I have got to have a needle biopsy, which I am not looking forward to. 😢

Yesterday we had an EPC done on our house. In the UK it is a legal requirement before you sell. It’s an Energy Performance Certificate. We knew it would be low as our house is made of stone but we weren’t expecting it to be the lowest. Our boiler is the main problem as it is run on LPG. We cannot get Natural Gas the other problem was the Crog loft which has no insulation. I am going to go to the estate agents today to ask for their advice. We could get the Crog loft done but we can’t do anything about the LPG without spending thousands.

@jaifaim I have thought a few times at waving to you from our beach 👋 we are hot that far from Holyhead. Glad you are losing weight. I have lost a bit too. I can feel it. Will not be weighing until the end of the month.

@funshipfreddie it’s strange to watch the awful damage in California whilst we are freezing our butts off here.

@stitchincarol cleaning is done and I was getting excited about putting the house in the market next week but the EPC has put a dampener on all of that. The dress is finished. I am going to make a jacket to go with it. I will try to share a photo of it soon. I am delighted with the dress. Is your jumper finished?

@brightonbelle I love binge watching a TV series. Glad the dentist was ok. I enjoyed Black Doves. We have just finished season 1 of Departure.

@iona72 my husband is also working his way through the nibbles thank goodness.

    Have a good day everyone

    2nd Post – Day 10

@jaifaim – may your dentist trip be brief & hassle/pain-free. I tried watching ‘Missing You’, but I threw in the towel about 10 minutes into episode 4.
I’m off to hunt for a couple of affordable new tyres. Why do these things happen when you’re broke? I may need to dust off my credit card 🙄

    Pocket List – Day 10
    @brightonbelle FD800
    @jaifaim FD800

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

    Evening all

The weather the last couple of days has been better, I got a good 50k ride in, played some frisbee golf with some friends and some mini golf with the family. I got an appointment for a cortisone injection on my troublesome shoulder, but the information they sent through with it said that I’m not allowed to exercise for a week afterwards. I might have to walk into work that week, because I don’t think I’ll get away with riding my bike.

Anzac, good luck for the job hunting. I understand the stress on getting stuff done to sell the house. There’s plenty that needs to be done on our house. I’m hoping we can get most of it done in the next 2-3 years when our boys finish school. If not, I’m happy just to take a bit of a hit on the sale price and leave it for the next owner to deal with.

Which tennis are you watching Cinque? The ASB classic is on over here at the moment and I’m hoping Monfils wins the final. I’ll be cheering for Alcaraz in the AO, he seems to be one of the few younger players coming through that isn’t an absolute brat. If he doesn’t win, then I would be happy for anyone except Djokovic to win. I despise him with a passion.

On the mortgage talk, I despair for the current generation. With the median house price in my area more than 10 times the median wage, there are many younger couples that will never be able to own a house. What we paid for our house 20 years ago is what’s needed for a 20% deposit on an entry level house now.

Well that’s enough for the night, have a good one everyone.

Hello, there once was a girl who was doing really well… ate a pack of sweet and salty popcorn at the cinema and saw nearly 2lbs up the next morning… 😮

Yep c’est moi… and the worst is… I know that popcorn does this to me… realised it last year when I thought popcorn was a great alternative to crisps… 🙄

@stitchincarol I hope 😂 your day went well and well done on the fix for your sweater…

    @funshipfreddie a truly awful thought 🐱 but… you have a point.. 😂

Good to see you @iona72 👋

@brightonbelle super well done to you!!!! That’s a wonderful result for your first week ⭐️ watching a Harlan Coben at the moment and am eking it out but Black Doves is up there on my suggested list so maybe I’ll try that next.

Hello @ccco! Good to see you 😄

So… having written my post I am now going to switch to FD800 as I am inspired and as have the dentist in an hour or so that will mean I won’t eat for a good long while afterwards… nice shiny teeth after cleaning 😂

    Have a great day everyone!

    Day 10 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – NFD 70.8 kg

@brightonbelle – congrats on completing your first week of FD800’s 💪

@stitchincarol – I hope you enjoyed the show, & that you found something on the menu that was FD-worthy? I think Boo Boo’s plan to survive me is more sinister than kind, & I doubt she’d think twice about snacking on me if she wasn’t rescued promptly. What a horrible thought! 😅 🙀

I just saw some aerial footage of the damage caused by the fires in California. Truly horrific. I also watched Pres Jimmy Carter’s funeral. It was interesting to see Pres Obama + the Clintons, Bushes, Bidens & Trumps all seated in such close proximity.

A tongue-in-cheek article about the importance of breakfast:-

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

    Hello everyone, happy Friday

Thin I loved reading about your beautiful time over Christmas. What an ideal way to spend time with your DD and Mr Thin. On the subject of saving, we lived in a small flat next door to my parents for 5 years (managed to not get divorced!) to save up a deposit for our house. Whilst it is now a beautifully restored home, it was very very run down but we fell in love with the outlook over a golf course and nature reserve and this is a very leafy, green area of Sydney. We were both 33 when we bought it (1998) and spent the next few years chucking every extra cent onto the mortgage; we didn’t travel, we rarely ate out so when I was made redundant in 2001 we were able to pay it off.

I have lost 1.5 kilos already – clearly water weight but I’ll take it!

Your op-shop find sounds lovely Cinque and I’m glad it wasn’t as hot as forecast. I see that tomorrow is 33 so that might be a bit uncomfortable

Neil, Lindsay – re the lost post, it is truly weird. I can see both Lindsay’s original and Neil’s repost in my emails but not in the website. It’s like it arrived then whoosh – gone!

I am so sorry the legal issue is dragging Lindsay and I hope it all gets settled soon. I am sorry too that Mr Lindsay’s appetite is poor but it sounds like you know just how to tempt him

Neither of our labradors have ever had a problem with anal glands, thank goodness, but lots of friends on the lab forum talk about it.

Yay for the half kilo gone Neil. How typical, the weather always improves just as holidays end. Boo

Job hunting continues, there is a role at one of the other big 4 banks that sounds promising. I’m not down about it as I know (hopefully anyway) that it is only until the end of the year. Our ‘plan B’ plans are underway for my retirement from banking and starting a fresh new life in FNQ. I hope Dad can come and live with us in the winter months as he hates winter with a passion. Yes getting on a plane at 100 (he will be 100 in November!) will not be easy but we will have a wheelchair and take our time. He is still walking quite well and his mind is perfect and he spends all day every day reading his paper, watching tv and doing puzzles so he can do all of that just as easily with us up north. It is early days in the planning and we need to come up with a small business to supplement the superannuation income but I’m sure we can sort it out. Poor Mr A is totally stressed about all the work he needs to do to get our house ready to sell including knocking down and rebuilding the huge retaining wall at the front.

    Take care all

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

Good morning everyone from a not quite as hot as expected morning in Melbourne, the forecast has dropped the expected high by a couple of degrees, and that nice morning cloud has protected my home again. Lovely

I am drinking coffee and it is my favourite time of year for opshopping. Best find so far: a lovely silk/cotton skirt that fits me perfectly at the moment. Oh dear, the cosmos rewarding me for expanding my belly!

I ended my last post abruptly because my homehelp angel arrived.

Cali, I am thinking of you so much with the fire tragedy continuing so dreadfully in your state. It is like the wildfire season never ends. I am presuming you are okay, south of the fires that were rampaging in the north, and north of the current terrible ones in LA, is that so? Sending lots of good wishes anyway because it must still be so worrying.

Woot Neil! Saving Lindsay’s post! Magnificent work!
    https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/ffAAAOSwoMVjrOiM/s-l1200.jpg

And woot for a good weigh in, and haha for good weather for back-to-work. At least it will be nice if you are cycling in.

Lindsay, hooray for relaxing on the verandah, on the island. Precious times.
Woot for less ultra processed food, I hope you can do it without cooking getting too onerous.

Fancy having a dog show on New Years Eve… and very eve! It sounds a great way to end a difficult year.

I do hope that legal stuff gets to a good conclusion very soon. I can imagine how exhausting it is, but also how important.

I need to make an effort to get into tennis again, I don’t know who anyone is at the moment so I need to sit and concentrate and then I would enjoy it. (Much better than complaining there is nothing on TV at the moment, which is what I have been doing.)

Haha Thin, maybe you would make a good tiktok influencer yourself. A good bit of no nonsense would be so refreshing.

I got my cooking mojo the other day and stocked my fridge and freezer with some really good (nutritious and delicious) meals. Off now to tidy the kitchen and maybe then I will manage a nice balance of watching tennis and ticking things off my to do list. I have some busy grandma days ahead.

Sending out good wishes to everyone. LJoyce, missing you! And Merry, if you are reading!

    Cheers all

    DAY 9 NE England NFD

Well here we are at day 9 and like you @ccco I’m really finding it hard to get back in the groove. Most of the festive food has gone now, some jumping out at me from the freezer! DH is working through the nibbles but I think I’m finally over that now.
Weather is so cold but thankfully the little snow we had here did not last, my daughter had so much more just 70 miles away, she struggled to get to work one day. I’m still getting out walking most days but it’s not as enjoyable when it’s so cold. Looking forward to warmer days and back onto salads instead of soups (which always seem to be accompanied by bread!).

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

    Hedgehog…
Hair cut time we usually do it together..I was 2weeks ago. My shower part is on its way then it will be finding a plumber.. and hoping the parts right!
Your mum sounds hard work at the moment wanting to do her own thing.. she keeps you on your toes.

    Couscous..
I remembered the books name…Dr Robert Lustig.. the book is “ Fat Chance”
I could do to read again and Dr Fung.. puts you in the mind set…both are on Michael ‘s thinking…
    Good weight loss….😊

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

Hi all. I was pleasantly surprised at my weight loss but I know most will be water. I am still on the 800 blood sugar diet and feel ok. Today, around lunch time my body told me I needed food so a 1 egg omelette with 100 gms of mushrooms mixed with a spoonful of fromage frae. It did the job. An afternoon kip then dinner was chicken, bean and veg casserole home made around 500 cals I think and again low carb.
Symba7, no, I have not come across Dr Lustig, will check him out. Brad, I sometimes watch the Falcons, Gateshead is across the Tyne from “The Toon” and Workington is too far away. Hedgehog, I do sometimes have tea instead of plain water. Around 7 yrs ago I did a 60 hour plus water only fast prior to a colonoscopy. It became quite easy after 24 hrs but would be a challenge now. I lost 7lb but that was mainly water. I am off to the gym for some low intensity cardio, 30 mins inclined walk then a sauna. Good luck out there.

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

    Evening!
Couscous – wow, you have done really well with your first week! I’ve done extended fasts but not just water, couldn’t face one without tea & coffee! Enjoy your meal out tomorrow if you have one, & hope the scales are good! Alot of us do a Friday weigh-in on here…
Jean- good you’ve been able to drive, hope you can find someone to do the job! We’re lucky our plumber is only round the corner, but he is a bit scatty & won’t always turn up when he says …
Dave- I’m the same as you, rarely feel full & once I start eating I can keep going, even hungrier then! But it is definitely better on keto, your blood sugar level evens out so you’re less hungry, I think eating more protein helps too …Hard when you’re a bit of a fussy eater as well…
Hemmy-hope you’ve had a good day out, & not got too cold!
Poor Xena got a bit harassed with some dogs on our walk this morning, I did tell one of them off as the owner didn’t! Took a dinner over to son’s, had my haircut, & did cleaning this afternoon- quite annoyed with Mum as we need to do some banking stuff & kept the day free tomorrow, she doesn’t want to go & keeps making excuses, her usual avoiding being an adult behaviour! She just wants to go out & enjoy seeing her friends & not take responsibility for anything, I would happily do all the finances for her with the POA invoked but she thinks she’s fine ☹️ So might have to get a bit firm with her!

    Day 9 UK f800

As I was still getting rid of “holiday goodies “ New Year’s Day today marks my first week completed and I’m really pleased to see I’m down 3lbs, of course I know a fair bit is water etc. but it’s the start I needed, one more week on f800 then a re think

I’ve not seen Vera but binge watched Black Doves @stitchincarol – a bit far fetched but enjoyable, interesting fact the writer is a Brighton resident and the name was inspired by the name of a local bar that he frequented whilst writing the series ( all done between Christmas and New Year )

    Happy 🐫 day all

    Day 9 – Rural Nebraska, USA – OMAD/FD500 hopefully….let me explain…

Yup, I used the “h” word, but it’s about what the restaurant serves, not what my will power can accomplish. I won a drawing to get two half-price tickets to “Clue: The Musical” and it’s for tonight. DH isn’t interested, so a friend is going with me, and we’ve chosen a restaurant where I think I can get a meal at or under 500 calories, so that’s the “hopefully.” I’ll teach lessons as usual, then we’ll eat, then we’ll head to the Orpheum, so I should be fine in terms of not being tempted to eat, and it’ll be fun to go.

@funshipfreddie I’m delighted you’re giving some thought to bequeating it to me!!!! 🤣👍 However, I’m thinking the idea of Boo Boo outliving you is actually a sign of her kindness, not mean-ness: that way you never have to suffer the grief of losing her! See?

@northgeorgia Oh, I hope your weather is better than ice tomorrow. We’re supposed to get snow tonight, but I’m hoping it is as nothing an event as all our other snow forecasts, since I’ll be in Omaha needing to drive home.

@jaifaim Yeah, slow is very frustrating, but at least you’re going the right direction, right?

An update on the sweater: I ripped out most of the ribbing last night. It’s a long story, but I concluded I hadn’t gone down to such small needles on the first sleeve’s ribbing, because this ribbing was significantly smaller around than the other and was shorter as well. Since I can do each row in about 10 minutes, and I have fourteen to go, that’s only a little over two hours, so not dreadful at all…and it’s certainly much easier now that I have slightly larger needles!

    Have a grand one, everyone!

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

    Afternoon All…
Very cold but a lovely walk. -6 overnight and we have -7 tonight.. I think it starts to improve then.
Heating and bill going up nicely 😳

Problem with my wet room shower it’s dripping… one person wouldn’t come out, then a friends hubby had a look and was uninterested. I was told you couldn’t get the part… gone to my local DIY shop, they have found me one and it’s on the way. They are exceptional..Hope it’s the right one. They have given me a list of local plumbers to, marking the ones who do small jobs.🤞🏻

I weighed this morning I am still 3 lbs up quite surprisingly.. I really must get back to fasting..

    Dave..
Hope the 8 lbs moves quick. It’s ok having holidays and Christmas I do think it upsets our rhythm.

    Hedgehog..
I have been out driving for some shopping and sorting my shower out. It wasn’t too bad. A big too sunny I put my sun hat on, it was very bright.
Hope you don’t get the plumbers cold…

    Conscus..
I liked looking on UTube for Jason Fung, one or two others it really makes you think..Dr Robert Lustig, about sugar was most interesting about T1 and T2 .. I don’t know if you have come across him.

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

My mistake you probably watch the Falcons.Gateshead are league. Are you far from Workington?

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

When I do it always Monday and Thursday. I’m a very poor eater.I can’t stand soup or broth, hate cheese and ham. I have done 24 hour fasts and longer. When I have anything to eat I immediately want more. I am never satisfied with food. Can honestly say that I am full because I’m not. They’re is a medical condition for this according to what I have been told at MoreLife.Freezing today minus 6 at 6am not that I get up that early. Only for the toilet. So do you follow Gateshead couscous?

    157.4 ⬇️

    Hello all. Happy Thursday!

Happy to be dropping a little and slowly is the best way but gosh it can be frustrating. 😂

@excelsior12309,@ccco and @stitchincarol we have ice and snow here but nothing like you all experience..

And then to think of California and the fires raging… it’s just crazy.

@brightonbelle glad to hear all went well with the dentist. I have a routine check up tomorrow first thing👍

I’m applying a limit to my streaming of series also rather than watching one episode after the other… delayed gratificatio.. it’s working out well.👍

It is quiet here today… wishing you all a good one and see you tomorrow.
