Day 25 UK FD800
Throwing in a Friday FD800 to give my week a good end. This morning’s weekly weigh day showed I’m somehow down 0.5lb and around 0.3″ from my fat suit. I’ll take it – and see what i can do to enhance it, ahead of next week free from FDs.
I slept until 11am and didn’t get dressed until midday – that’s the beauty of a day off! I had a couple of friends round to help with various things, including setting up of my donor wheelchair – all now sorted to get out and about, so I’m good to go to church on Sunday and away on Monday. I peeked at and cleared a few emails to reduce the mountain I come back to, but feel really good about letting go of it all for the next 10 days 🙂
Tomorrow is about gently packing and enjoying the day, perhaps think about making some of my homegrown berries into fruit vinegars or chutneys for Christmas presents. I’ll be staying with DD this year – my first without my mother, and my first not hosting – and we’ll be doing some gentle visiting with her wider family and partner’s parents, if she’s well enough. We never normally think about Christmas until mid-November so this feels really organised!
@stitchincarol I’ve used a chair since 2002, previously fulltime but now a bit of walking around indoors with a crutch. I don’t generally talk about it because it’s my normal. It’s only since getting e-wheels via a generous fundraiser that I’ve been able to get out and about independently, but when it’s broken I go right back to feeling and being stuck. Hence I’m delighted to have been able to get mobile again, thanks to a lot of juggling/planning and support from lovely people. I guess I always talk about what I do rather than what I don’t do, which may be why I seem so busy!
@northgeorgia – well done on yesterday’s FD -and good luck with swerving your Mum’s cookies!!
@excelsior12309 I can’t believe there are only 6 days left of Outstanding October! Thank you for your gracious hosting. Joining you on today’s FD pocket list 🙂
@brightonbelle i hope your solo weekend is fun / restful /relaxing/indulgent (delete as applicable)
@funshipfreddie yes I’m looking forward to seeing DD again next week – tho the retreat is from Mon-Sunday, so I’ll miss the end of this month and join November on the 3rd or 4th. Great idea to being jotting down notes ahead of your appointment – I hope that goes really well
@penz I love the idea of you training people to be good with their dogs, rather than training the dogs! What a great way to spend your time 🙂
@iona72 sorry for your loss. I’m glad the funeral went well as a celebration of their life, and a chance to rethink what’s important for you right now
I’m thinking of absent friends today – @bert1802 @at @daffodil2010 – and hope they are doing well
Pocket List Day 25
@excelsior12309 FD800
@michelinme FD800
Evening!
The Atomic Habits book sounds good … I started a new list today with a few jobs carried over, & few I knew I could get done today 😂
Shame Denise doesn’t like the cottage pie Dave.
Went out for lunch today, warm enough to sit outside by the river. Had smoked fish platter, no bread, & no dessert.
Have a good weekend everyone 😊
I’ve put Atomic Habits on my old kindle and have read a few pages. See how I go with it.Had my salad, taste nice but I always feel hungry after eating it.
Suzy, narrow boating is a unique and great lifestyle. I highly recommend it. We didn’t intend doing it for five years but here we are. We’ve often said we wished we could take the boat to Africa.
You asked about winters. The boat itself is toasty warm – most boaters have to leave their doors open because it gets too hot. We have a Morso Squirrel diesel stove. I can cook one pot meals on this and always have a kettle boiling. We also have central heating in the form of three radiators run by a Webasto heater – similar to what caravaners use. We can programme this to come on when we’ve been away from the boat all day or in the morning if the diesel stove wasn’t on all night.
The problem is that you’re standing on the stern in the elements using the tiller for propulsion. This is absolutely no fun in the wind or rain. There are many boaters who live aboard year round but there’s not much cruising going on. Lock maintenance is carried out during the winter months so there are many navigation stoppages. Boaters tend to either go in a marina for winter mooring (expensive but affords boat security, shore power, water, services, chandlery on hand, etc) or pay the Canal & River Trust to moor canal side for three months (cheaper but no facilities). Or you can just move on as usual every 14 days planning around the stoppages.
Good afternoon everyone rain predicted but not arrived yet. Just about to put Atomic Habits on my old kindle. If I can remember how to do it.Salad for tea tonight so being a good boy. Time to take Chloe out before the rain comes.
Hi everyone!
It’s great to see all the positive vibes in the group! 🌟 I can totally relate to the joy of enjoying your non-fast days. Dumpling, your Christmas craft morning sounds delightful, and homemade bread with Moroccan soup? Yum! 🥘 I can almost taste that cheesecake!
Sassy, it’s inspiring to hear about your journey and how you’ve embraced your rest days. Remember, feeling well is more important than just weight loss, and it sounds like you’re on the right track! Mel, keep at it—slow and steady wins the race!
For those interested in enhancing their well-being even further, Clinical hypnotherapy Seattle can be a great resource. It offers valuable support in managing cravings and promoting a healthier lifestyle.
Day 25 – Rural Nebraska, USA – NFD
Thanks for all the concern for the headaches and lack of sleep. I finally slept about 8 hours last night, so that’s a joy, and I woke with no headache. After I was up for 20 minutes, I had one, but it’s been well over an hour and now it’s gone. 🤷🏻♀️ As I think back over the years, I’ve often gotten headache clusters in autumn, so perhaps that’s all these have been, and not directly related to fasting…who knows. They’re not migraines, and not hideous, just irritating. I’ve been given a Rx in the past for nortriptyline to “break the cycle” and it’s a med that’s also used to treat depression. 😂 My MD said it’s useful for “breaking the cycle” of pain, and I’ve used it twice now for headache clusters. I’ll put up with them for now and perhaps they’ll go away as gradually as they appeared; if not, I’ll call in and ask for an Rx for them.
@michelinme I’ve never realized you use a wheelchair–always? Bummer that it broke and that has messed up your plans! At least you get to be home for now and then have the rest time of your silent retreat, with a trip to see DD thrown in. You had lots of commotion when you first got home; I was worn out just reading about it!
@lona72 My condolences on the loss of your friend…so very hard. ❤️
@penz I looked up the winery/wine you mentioned and found it on Vivino (an app–do you know and use it?) for $136.17. OUCH!!!! Yeah, it’s way beyond my pocketbook as well. So glad you got to do the wine dinner!
@funshipfreddie So interesting that you never look forward to a FD. I always feel just a bit of deprivation as I think about the day ahead when it’s a WF, but I always look forward to it the day before, and when I start to get carried away on the morning of one, I remind myself how relatively easy it will be, and how good I’ll feel the following morning, and all those feelings of self-pity evaporate. Do you not feel loads better the following morning? I mean physically, not emotionally?
@brightonbelle Yeah, being alone for an entire weekend would be odd, wouldn’t it? When my eldest sister lost her husband four years ago (she was 78), she said it would be the first time in her LIFE that she had lived alone because she went straight from home to college and then straight to marriage. She’s found in these four years that she adores living alone, so perhaps you’ll enjoy this little weekend?
@excelsior12309 I’ve been ignoring most newscasts and don’t read anything and have been astonished how easy this particular election is. Nonetheless, like you, I’ll be so very glad when it’s all over and we know the outcomes. And I love the Napolean approach of putting things in mental drawers; I’ll try it next time I’m struggling to sleep!
@northgeorgia Well done on another FD, of whatever variety! Is your crud finally completely gone, or is some still lingering?
We’re taking DS33 out to lunch tomorrow and then shopping for his birthday present, as we weren’t able to do so two weeks ago. He’s chosen a lovely French restaurant in the Omaha Old Market area (it’s BEAUTIFUL on the website: https://www.lebouillonomaha.com/). I’ve been carefully reading the menu and still haven’t decided what I’ll order, so am working to make myself be VERY mindful today to compensate: leftover roasted carrots for lunch, then a simple preparation of salmon, a caramelized carrot risotto, and a garden salad for supper. Lovely, but not overboard.
But now? I’m going to enjoy my coffee and knit some more on the neck band of DH’s Fair Isle.
Have a lovely one, everyone!
Hello and happy Friday !
Still on the go alot with mini me and work, but managing. Just quite exhausted and I feel more tired on FD’s , so I try to plan a FD around a day I know may not be crazy. Its not so easy at the moment. All the dancing festivals will be over after the 2nd Nov and hopefully then we can slow down. Work will head into its busy season as we do corporate gifting and most clients leave stuff to the last minute. Its weigh and measure weekend, so crossing all fingers and toes for a good result 🙂
califD , I am amazed at the thoughtlessness of your caregiver? How did they think it was a good idea to come into work being ill ? But then humans confuse me most of the time.
I would love some fruit trees. My gran had so many when I was little. I used to help her make jam and bottled fruit in syrup. She had such green fingers. Could grow anything. Her veggie garden and flower garden were awesome. Then agian , other than looking after me while my parents went to work , she put all her energy into her gardens. Unfortunately even though I was her “assistant” her green fingers didnt rub off on me.
@Thin, I have a detective series I read on and off about a British detective that lives on a boat in Oxford, she has just sailed off into the sunset after her retirement from the force in the last book I read. It sounds like something I could quite easily do . How are the winters on the boat though?
We have our annual church Portuguese Festa on Sunday – lots of delicious food on sale. So im guessing Monday is going to be a FD for me 🙂
Have a great weekend everyone ! Chat soon .
Day 25 – USA/GA – NFD
Weigh-in: 234 lbs. Yep, yesterday worked out fine as another FD500 or FD800 (uncertain because I had some of mom’s homemade chicken noodle soup). @michelinme Yeah, the cookies are at mom’s house, not mine, so it takes even more willpower haha! Still, having that many cookies is unusual for me, so I’ll be more aware next time.
I am happy with my progress this month. I started off rough, with two weeks of no fasting thanks to antibiotics and steroids to get rid of some lingering crud. My 10-day moving average has dropped from a high of 238.9 down to 235.4 today, or 240 lbs single-day to 233 a couple of days ago. Next week will be more tricky with several lunch meetings, but I think I can still get in a couple of days going into November.
Day 25-No. VA USA-FD800
Well, we voted and that is done. I am tired of reading polls. I wonder why the election results are acceptable if you win, but need to be “decertified” if you lose. Strange and scary.
@stitchincarol, I hope your headaches have eased. Weight loss is all well and good, but quality of life is important, too! If you can get your sleep back on track, that should help. I read that Napoleon had a technique of imagining a giant chest of drawers. In each drawer, he would place a problem. He would think about the problem for a bit, and then put it in the drawer and close the drawer, and not revisit the problem that night. He ran through all the problems, and by then he was asleep. Maybe it works!
@iona72, sorry to hear of your friend. I have found that sometimes funerals are not unhappy events, but a chance for people to communicate with each other…in remembrance of the person and their lives.
@penz, I think dog agility is exciting. We have two Japanese Chins who probably would be great at it, except they are sort of air-headed and super distractible, I suspect they would forget where they were going after the first jump and just run around and knock each other over.
Only 6 days to go in our outstanding month. Down we go!
CalifD, that’s terrible that the caregiver wouldn’t be prompted to take a covid test with those symptoms. Fingers crossed for you – that would be the last thing you need. Thinking of you lately as my stepmother (who I mentioned was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s) seems to be in rapid decline – mentally and physically. She and her OH have just moved to the south coast to be closer to my poor brother who’s handling the brunt of their almost-daily dramas. I’ve tried to help a bit by researching local support services that her OH can access, some free, some that cost quite a lot. But I feel that even if he shares a coffee once a month with others in his situation, it will lessen his burden and could lead to other support and ideas.
GDSA, how super to have fruit trees on your property. If we ever get another house, the first thing I’ll do is fix up the garden. While you’re keen to get closer to the city, my dream would be a smallish house on a large block with a view, no neighbours within shrieking range and preferably a moat. Come to think of it, that’s sort of what we have now!
Anzac, Happy Anniversary! I think you married about 13 months after we did. One of our friends was a captain for Emirates. He and his wife were entitled to two first class flights per year after he retired. She used to describe in detail the inflight shower. They lived in Spain – sadly he died a couple of weeks ago while in Perth.
Anzac, if and when we set up a conventional home again, we will need absolutely everything. So I’ll be checking in with you about which credit cards to sign up for so we can get plenty of ‘miles’ racked up as we open wallets and haemorrhage money.
Oh, near miss for Quacka and Anzac meeting at the airport.
$8 for a cabbage, yikes.
Cinque, I hope it’s a super day with your family friends bringing yummy goodies. And taking the dirty dishes home with them. Oh yes, of course, who could possibly know what a cratch might be.
Neil, what was the outcome of the principal’s call about the school’s handling of your son’s head injury? And is he completely recovered?
Dr M. said in his ‘Just One Thing’ series that we need to keep learning new skills to help forge new pathways in our brains. Learning a language seems considerably more of a commitment than taking a 30 second cold shower under the casual-sounding heading ‘Just One Thing’. One lady was learning to bake for the first time in her life, others were taking pottery lessons. Of the three, I think I’d rather tackle a language. Apparently 20 minutes per day is recommended. Anyone learning anything new?
Yesterday a male kingfisher kept us company for some considerable distance of our cruise. The fewer the fish, the greater the territory they hold. I got my best kf photo yet – but still not good enough. At the mooring, there was a bird of prey gliding overhead (red kite, I think), several colourful pheasants on the ground and then a beautiful fox arrived to forage in the hedgerow, fur glimmering in the sunlight.
Day 25 UK CD
On my own this weekend , feels very odd as first time in 8-9 years
Good to hear about your trip @jaifaim
I’m sure you’ll work things through @funshipfreddie hope you don’t miss too much sleep in the interim
Right time to get my yoga mat out 🧘♂️see ya tomorrow
Day 25 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – NFD 70.3 kg
Easy peasy FD. Not sure if it’s PFDS I’m experiencing, or just relief that it’s over. I’ll never be one of those people who looks forward to a FD 🙄 Even when I don’t experience hunger, there’s almost always a hint of self-deprivation at the back of my mind. Which I suppose is normal, it’s not supposed to be effortless, right..?
Thanks so much to everyone for your kind & thoughtful words, @stitchincarol, @excelsior12309, @jaifaim, @michelinme, @flourbaby & @penz 🙏 I did wake up again at some weird time; it was still dark outside, but I resisted checking the time & eventually fell asleep again until the moggie woke me at 7 am.
@jaifaim – ‘epiphany’, that’s the perfect word for what I experienced a week ago! The appointment isn’t until Nov 5th, so I’ve got plenty of time to think things over, get some thoughts down on paper & try to make the most of the session. No idea if it’s just one visit, or of the cost involved. Hopefully my medical aid will cover some, if not all of it 🤞
@flourbaby – that’s so true, sleep deprivation is the worst. 4 am?! I quickly realised when I adopted Boo Boo 3 & half years ago that she wouldn’t be able to sleep in my room at night. I still feel guilty when I close the bedroom door every night, but it just doesn’t work. So I leave her watching cat videos on YouTube, & she has her own bedroom. I even got her YouTube Premium for her birthday last month, so she doesn’t have to watch those annoying commercials 😅 Your comment re the judge Judy saga made me LOL 🤣
@michelinme – so sorry you had to cut your trip short, but what a lovely way to end the retreat by getting to spend a day with your daughter again 🙂
@stitchincarol – continuous headaches? That must be so unpleasant. Do you think they’re caused by lack of sleep? It seems very unfair to have to sacrifice good sleep to lose a few pounds, & I hope you can find a way to have enough sleep AND reach your desired weight 🤗
@iona72 – sorry to hear about the loss of your younger friend. There really is nothing like losing a loved one to put things in perspective.
@excelsior12309 – I think the whole planet will breathe a collective sigh of relief when THE election is over & the results are conclusive.
@penz – sounds like you’re keeping busy in a fun & rewarding way during your year off. And it’s great to hear you’re back in the groove! 💪
Happy Fri-yay! 🍹
Anzac, Happy Anniversary! Friday is tomorrow here. 😁
Quacka, you’re almost out of the 77’s! 76 sounds so much lower. I don’t like B2B FD’s either. I feel starved by the second day.
Cinque, GS apples are grown in California and are one of my favorites too. There is one type that is more sour, which I like, but it’s also softer or not as crisp of a texture. I love the combination but don’t see them in the store often. Maybe it’s because most people like sweeter apples. 🍏 When I do see them I buy as many as we can eat.
OH’s caregiver who is here for 4/hours, 3 days per week, showed up a week ago with a stuffy nose and coughing. She claimed it was just a cold and her daughter had one too. I asked her if she would take a Covid test. We had some home tests here. She agreed and did the nose swab thing and I did the rest. As soon as I put the drops in the tester it immediately turned bright red for positive. I sent her home and called the agency that she works at to let them know. She had been here less than half an hour. The evening of the following day OH and I both had runny noses and felt “off”. We’ve tested 3 days since then and we’re negative but I still don’t feel great. I hope it’s just allergies or a cold. We are behind on our vaccinations by several months. Hope we feel better tomorrow. We are always so careful except for having the caregiver here. I am always the only one wearing a mask anymore at the grocery store.
Thin, congrats on the new cover for the boat. I like your referring to yourselves as “water gypsies” lol!
Have a good rest of your day everyone!
Day 25, NFD, Aus
I keep missing days! Wed’s FD was super easy. I didn’t have PFDS on Thurs, however, it was more a feeling of ‘yes, I’m back in the groove, and this is just normal routine’. Yay!
Last night’s wine dinner was lovely, thanks for asking. It featured wines from a local winery called Clonakilla. They are renowned for their Shiraz Viognier. Sadly, however, they’re prices have been creeping up over the years and it’s now really beyond our means. So we especially enjoyed last night.
I have two dogs, @excelsior12309. Apart from wanting them to be decently behaved companions, I do agility with my young girl (it’s like an obstacle course for dogs). I have also started being a dog instructor this year at my local club – really I’m a people instructor. Helping to give people the skills and techniques to teach their own dogs how to behave. The relationship between human and dog is …. so special in my books!
Hope you’re tracking ok @funshipfreddie, and v pleased to hear you are seeking out some professional help. Good for you!
@flourbaby – that has to be among the worst feelings, thinking it’s Friday when really it’s only Thursday. And the reverse is one of the better feelings I think – waking up thinking it’s only Thursday then to realise the end of the week has already arrived!
Busy times for you @michelinme; enjoy the retreat!
Hello everyone,
A cooler day in Melbourne, I’ve got my woolly dressing gown back on.
Neil, woot for the happy mistake and the truth of it. So close! All power to you now.
Thin, your time with your DD, your wonderful patterned canvas cratch cover, and the nut roast all sound great. Even coordinating the cover being made sounds like such a wonderful adventure. (it took me a while to find what a cratch is 😀 )
Best wishes for your winter mooring.
Gday, I love granny smith apples too, that lovely acid to balance the sweet.
Your DD’s cooking sounds wonderful and I hope it was a lovely time with her aunt there.
Good luck getting to that fast!
Cali, Hooray for cooler nights.
Sending you lots of good wishes for enjoying those autumn (fall) veggies too. Best wishes to your sister and Mr Cali too.
Anzac, Happy Anniversary!
https://www.desicomments.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/Happy-Anniversary.jpg
And have wonderful celebrations for the Christmas and birthdays too. Enjoy the Thai food!
Sending best wishes that you can get through the mad weeks and hooray for your break coming.
Quacka, Hooray for being so close to out of the 77’s. Next stop the 76’s!
I am going well, in my usual up and down way. I have lovely family friends visiting tomorrow and so I am making soup and little bread rolls for them. (They will bring yummy things too).
Cheers to everyone, have a great Friday and a wonderful weekend.
Day 24 – NE England
I’ve been away for a few days attending the funeral of a younger friend, sad times but a really lovely send off. It makes you re-evaluate what is important. I got a bit out of kilter with eating, it was more a case of get what’s available while it’s there. Eating breakfast felt odd, but when you know there probably won’t be any lunch……..
I haven’t been on the scales for a few days but will do so tomorrow and hope for the best.
On this pre-diabetic programme we are encouraged to journal our meals each day which I’ve been doing vaguely, not counting grams or calories, but just what the meal consists off. I find it quite useful to look back for ideas on days when I feel stuck and also to see what I ate on weeks when I was losing pounds.
I am feeling good about the last days of October, we can do this.
It’s practically criminal G’day, we also paid $7.90 for a cabbage the other day. We used to laugh about cabbage saying it is the poor man’s vegetable as it is so cheap and lasts for ages and you get so many servings out of one. Not anymore
Day 24 CD
Day 23 NFD/CD
Day 22 NFD/CD
I’m back! I had to come home early bc my wheelchair broke, but glad to be home. I love DD dearly so will miss being with her. And I’m mentally and physically exhausted with all the planning/problem-solving and practical things.
I haven’t fasted but I have eaten mindfully – my usual 0 breakfast, black decaf coffee and herbal tea, not as much water as at home, and far more carbs than I would choose – baked beans, baked potato/sweet potato, risotto, rice cakes – so feeling v puffy. But I also swerved so many temptations – sweets, cakes, biscuits – including train snacks, in favour of an apple! So plenty to be proud of even as I feel myself swelling up.
I came back at lunchtime and fitted in a wheelchair swap and an emergency trip to the dentist, plus a supermarket shop and some laundry. OMAD supper was corn on the cob, panfried marinaded tofu with pak choi and mushrooms and quorn fillets, followed by a fruity vegan yogurt. Not enough veg so far this week but I’m defrosting a dahl for tomororw and may make it into a bonus FD with lots of water, to get back into the swing.
I’m home until Monday so can reset my habits, then on silent retreat for a week, staying in a community of Benedictine monks and nuns. I’ll get to choose portion size but not what I eat, other than skipping the biscuits in favour of fruit. And no scales from 28 Oct – 4 Nov! But it’s also just a couple of train stops from DD so I can go over and see her for a day next week.
I’ve just had a quick read of posts – lovely to read everyone’s news.
@jaifaim welcome back – your holiday sounds epic and worth every lb!
@stitchincarol congrats on this epic low and mushroomed motivation!!
@funshipfreddie whatever you are going through, i hope this feels like a safe space where you can be as open and honest as you choose. Meanwhile I hope the appointment is helpful and sleep becomes restorative again. And thank you for your thoughtfulness in herding the pocket list each day 🙂
@northgeorgia cookies exist solely to lead you away from your chosen goal of greater health and energy…. Can you avoid having them in the house? Hope today’s meeting went well
@ccco be gentle with yourself
@excelsior12309 thank you for your encouragement, always much appreciated
@brightonbelle @missybear you’ve got this!
I like Stratford we had a picnic by the river, then walked round and looked at Shakespeare’s house. Chloe Lind good in her coat, it’s almost as if she’s at the track. Easy to see her at night. My broadband is good now from EE, faster than virgin was. I enjoyed the cottage pie I made but Denise didn’t like it. I put salt and pepper in it, think that’s what put her off. She dosent use condiments apart from salt and vinegar on chips.
Evening!
Hemmy- good you had a nice trip out & that you have another one planned…I’ve never been to Stratford on Avon, it looks lovely!
Jean- the eye drops I use are just lubricating ones, but if you’ve been told not to, fair enough…hope you don’t have to wait for treatment, it’s not nice not being able to read 🤗
Dave- hope your bowel test is all fine 🤞
Busy day, Xena rolled in something so needed a bath when we got back, saw my friend for a cuppa, then got some plants for tubs from the garden centre & planted them all up, it was a lovely day so nice doing that in the sun…
Another shock at the supermarket yesterday, $8 for a very small cabbage. Might have to start fasting 7 days a week – fresh food is becoming unaffordable.
Evening All..
Good walk this morning I seem to be getting 70 mins in, which is good. We saw Natalie and Oreo again.
Ironing and a bit of cooking for Charlie for the freezer. Spoke to Steve’s sister she can talk 😂 passed a hour…
Dave..
Coat sounds good for Chloe. More gadgets bought!
Hedgehog..
I shall be at the hospital on Wednesday, they don’t want you to use anything, there’s a do’s and dont’s list, so I will wait for eye drops.
Glad the plumber has sorted things out, my kitchen drain isn’t the best, my plunger usually sorts it.
Hemmy…
We have a misty start tomorrow it does make for a damp walk. The trees are all looking lovely with all their colours, the farmers have all the fields ploughed and raked down ready for sowing again. Cows in for the winter.
These years do go around quick .
You sound as if you have had a good day, Stratford is something to look forward to.
Jean x
Day 24 – Rural Nebraska, USA – WFD
I keep struggling to figure out the biggest change I’ve made that is finally allowing me to make progress, and I think–THINK–it’s because I’m not nibbling. That’s not always true, but it’s certainly mostly true. But perhaps it’s the OMAD I do once or twice a week, because I’m feeling bad about how much I ate the day before.
On the other hand, I haven’t slept well for ten days or more, and I have continual headaches. So, yes, I’m on a roll, but it’s coming at a price. However, if I’d been asked ten pounds ago (well, seven is maybe more accurate) if I’d be willing to give up good sleep and suffer frequent headaches in order to lose weight, I’d have said, “Well, CERTAINLY!!!” 😂🤣😂 So…🤷🏻♀️
@funshipfreddie I think there’s nothing more real than people honestly discussing their weight loss journey, both its successes and its challenges that prevent success, so your emotion/mental state cannot possibly be labeled as TMI within this group. As @jaifaim described us, we’re warm world-wide friends, so share away as you choose and are ready. We’ll love you no matter what, and support you in what you go through.
I’d rather go take a nap, but probably wouldn’t fall asleep, and have lots to do, so I guess I’ll get on it.
Have a grand one, everyone!

Day 24 – USA/GA – FD?
Weigh-in: 237 lbs. whoops, those chocolate chip cookies tempted me too much last night. Shame shame, I knew better 😉 I still think most of this was water gain. I think today will be a FD, but as the President of the college and I have a meeting this evening at a board meeting, there could be business related meals involved. But, I’m thinking probably not. I put the chance of a FD at 90%, so pretty confident I can get the weight down a bit before the weekend! @excelsior12309 I haven’t done a WFD since earlier this year. They were effective, but I found I was ravenous afterwards. So I went back to FD500s and found I could control my cravings a lot better on NFDs, -if- I was mindful. I’ll probably do a few more WFDs in the future, though. I just need to discipline myself better on the NFDs before going that route again. By the way, I think you may be thinking of @stitchincarol who is having great success with her WFDs 🙂
Day 24, London, UK, FD800
Feeling quite tired today and super disappointed …………….. I thought today was Friday!!! Running around this morning trying to throw some lunch together when I realised there would be no Friday work breakfast!! Veggie loaded frittata from the freezer & a simple tomato & cucumber salad will do the trick!!
@funshipfreddie, there’s nothing worst than sleep deprivation! My internal alarm has reset to 4a.m now, just before the 6kg cat pounces on me!! Except this morning, he slept through the night……………… I should have woken HIM up!! I hope you get those issues resolved and quiet your mind!🙏🏼🙏🏼 No worries about TMI, remember, we love a bit of melodrama, the judge Judy saga made me want to break out the popcorn!!!🤣🤣🤣
I must say Lemon drizzle cake is the ONE exception to the no-citrus rule, but in my defence it’s 90% FLOUR ………….. much like myself!!!!🤣🤣
The work load is slowly diminishing, a bit TOO slowly for my liking, but I can only KOKO!!!
Onward & Downwards folks!!💪🏼💪🏼

@excelsior12309 yes I did 😂 and that was a very short summary. 😂😂 ✈️ 🚂 🚗 🚢
One thing I did notice is no-one – not one person – mentioned the election 🧐
Oh was great… and here I am back in the drudgery of work 😂😂 Has To Be Done 😂
Day 24 – Ireland – FD 🚫 ✅ 🚶🏽♀️ 🌾
Good morning and thanks for the warm welcome back 💕 So lovely to come back into the warmth of this wonderful group of worldwide friends.
@funshipfreddie wow! It sounds like you have had an epiphany! I hope it is not too emotional a time but it is great that you are planning to talk to someone who will be able to help you make sense of it all. Sending hugs and no it doesn’t sound melodramatic but it it does sound very interesting and hopefully very positive for you 💕💕
@merryapple yes … just.. in the 150s… it’s going to be a hard slog to get back down to where I was before hols but shur what else would I be doing in the winter 😂😂 I have to track back to see your news.. I think you’ve been laid up? I hope you are ok 💕
@stitchincarol you sound like you are completely in the zone!! Go You!!! ⭐️⭐️ I have the same resolve regarding my house and keeping it tidy…I am tidy generally but it can all come undone very quickly 😂😂 also yet again I have too much “stuff”!!
I’m intrigued now about @penz’ cravings so must also track back here… 🧐
Ok… work calls…

Good morning everyone the sun is out again. I bought a digital thermometer and it tells you the temperature in Celsius and Fahrenheit and also the humidity. It also gives you the minimum and maximum temperature. The coldest our living room as been this month is 20°C so not too bad. I’ll put Atomic Habits on my kindle I’ll transfer it from my phone. The hard part is reading it.I got there Bowel cancer kit yesterday so I’ll take Chloe out and post it off.
Day 24-No. VA USA-FD 800
Nice and cool this morning. We will go and vote early today, instead of going on Nov. 5th. I think my husband and I always “cancel” each other’s votes….but everyone is entitled to have a confidential ballot. Enough of politics.
@jaifaim, your travels sound wonderful. You really made the rounds, too!
@penz, I actually did have a craving for these giant carrots that one of the local groceries had for a while. They were so sweet. Most of the bagged ones I buy are somewhat tasteless; they need lots of ranch dressing for flavor. Which defeats the purpose of a carrot, somewhat.
@stitchincarol, may your downward trend continue. Also, same wishes to @northgeorgia. I have zero interest in a water fast. I can do it for most of the day, but at some point, I need a bit of something else.
@funshipfreddie, there is no doubt that things we store in our brains can disrupt our rest at night; good idea to seek some help in clarifying and dealing with it. With respect to dessert flavors and tastes, I agree that lemon is a favorite, and lemon meringue pie is my ideal pie! But, to be honest, I will also eat @flourbaby ‘s shortbread with no problem at all.
Down we go, all!
Day 24 UK FD

Good morning everyone..Xxxx
Its a misty start here so hopefully a lovely autumn day. Its so very pretty with the golden/red leaves. everywhere.
It was a lovely day yesterday although tiring as its out early walking first before you go.
A lovely lunch .then charity shops.. I never found a thing Chris found lots of stuff but thats how it goes. She is nearly 6ft tall and I am 5ft 4ins lol so we like different things which is good. Anyway we are now going to venture to Stratford upon Avon on Monday .. one of my favourite places.
Back to eating sensibly these last few days and not eaten any rubbish.. When shopping i must stock up on nuts.. Tasty filling and good for you.
Dave… I bet Chloe loves her new warm coat..
HH You are such a good neighbour yours are very fortunate to have you. Good you got your drain don e.. things like that always a worry .
Sym.. I think having the list keeps me on track of things that need to be done .. When there is two of you what one doesnt do the other one does..
Sounds like you did a good job on your decking… these type of jobs cost silly money to get done by a trade.
Have good day everyone.. Try to do things that make you happy today. Xxxx
Day 24 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – FD
Day 24 already?! Can’t believe it. I was tired & grumpy yesterday, after waking up way too early. I haven’t slept well for a few days actually. I had a massive ‘aha!” moment about a week ago that made me do a lot of ruminating, question a lot about my life, my identity even. Some things that never made sense are now glaringly obvious. And now that I’ve written that, I probably sound very melodramatic. TMI maybe? 🤔 Anyway, I’m going to talk to a psychologist in a couple of weeks. And then when things are clearer & my head is in the right place, maybe I’ll share more..
@jaifaim – great to see you back!
@flourbaby – who doesn’t love lemon meringue pie?! Well, you I guess 😅 But I thought everyone did. And chocolate orange?! All those desserts you described are right up my alley. Not that I’ll be eating anything like that anytime soon.
@excelsior12309 – I am NOT reactivating any needle skills. Who has the time?! 🤣 Although, Boo Boo would have a field day with the balls of wool 😼
@stitchincarol – I’m so glad you’re getting your mojo back & finally getting closer to your goal. The water?! We had a crazy amount of rain Mon/Tues. Still a lot of water-logged areas, some power outages & there’s a big clean-up going on. It was so nice to see blue sky again yesterday, but I had to drive through what I can only describe as a river on my way to collect my laundry.
Not many fasters for a Thursday yet, but here we go. Looking forward to Friday morning PFDS 🎯💪

We all love a roast here and its lovely to enjoy at the weekend. Just me and the boy now and when he eventually moves out, I wont bother for one.
I am so fed up with the lack of movement on the scales or the tape measure. I am really stumped but I have decided to change tack and skip breakfast today and for the next few days and see what happens, if anything. Meeting boy 2 for lunch today to catch up with him. My plan is to have either fruit or nothing this evening and feed the boy something that he loves and I don’t for dinner. There is tea and cake on Saturday afternoon for a birthday celebration, so perhaps avoid breakfast that day. I might try one meal a day, which would be an evening meal with the boy, so that would be lots of time fasting.
How is everyone getting on ?
Day 24 NZ FD 68.4kg
@excelsior12309 I had heard about deer in Scandinavia but did not know that it was so entrenched in your wild populations. Terribly sad… I read the CDC website.
We had a Mycoplasma bovis illness in our midst introduced by infected bull semen from Europe. By genetic track and tracing the scientists worked out which farm it was introduced from in 2014. It came to light in 2017 and many milking cattle were culled around 2018. the disease has virtually been eliminated but there was a tail end break out in 2022 which was ring fenced. It was a big lesson for some farmers who had not reported symptoms and moved stock around. They were the cbig commercial operators not the family farms but everyone suffered for it… The disease is not known in humans.
Our introduced Red deer and Elk have interbred and the wild steaks are huge and delicious!!!😋 For those unfamiliar with venison it is a very low fat protein.
@stitchincarol I searched Hazel Tindall Knitting belt. The YouTube video is on the Jamieson&Smith website. I’m thinking I might knit a shawl because they’re flat and there is no sewing up at the end!
Great that you’re on a roll with your weight loss. It’s such a relief when you get that light bulb moment and everything comes together!!
@penz Who ever heard of craving carrots except Peter Rabbit?! Good to see you back posting regularly!!
@jaifaim Lovely to have you back!! And you’re in the 150s!! My brain thinks in kg so I have to do a translation unless it’s in stones which makes you 11st 3lbs of pure muscle 💪
I note that @missybear is intending to be popping the cork on her holiday today!! Go girrl!!🍾🥂

Good Morning Everyone
Wow, that first class trip sounds amazing. What sort of points system have you been using? I joined Qantas FF as they had the cheapest flights to NZ when I booked. Good luck with the dentist too!
Well I didn’t make it to the 76s but I am very close – 77.1 kg. So next week it will definitely be in the 76s. I am looking forward to an active and healthy eating weekend ahead so that I can start the week off right next week. That’s my aim now I just have to make it happen!
Happy day all xx
Evening!
Dave- good idea to have a jacket for Chloe, hopefully people won’t try to stroke her… Poor Denise, hard for her but hard for you too seeing her in pain & she won’t go back to the doctor’s. Hubby gets a bit stubborn too, he won’t try stronger painkillers…
Jean- sounds as if some eye drops might help if yours are gritty & itchy, maybe talk to your chemist? Sounds all a bit rotten for you 🤗 Well done getting the decking done!
Hemmy- hope you had a good day out…
Nana- have you had your Wednesday lunch out today?
Plumber did come, found a blockage way down the pipe, he had to take it all to bits & then hoovered it out 🤢 Did our shopping today, neighbour rang while we were in Tesco’s as she’s been discharged from hospital so picked her up too, felt for her dropping her off, she’s on her own with no family (like the other one who broke her elbow), but she’s very independent & likes her own company…she said she’s never had surgery so not bad first op at 75 I suppose!
Stomach playing up again, might be a trip to the doctor’s soon, too many things upsetting it!
I took her out in her coat but didn’t meet anyone 🙄🙄. Hopefully people will give her a wide berth.
Ordered a jacket for Chloe it says in large letters NERVOUS and is bright yellow. It’s waterproof and warm on the inside so I’ll take her out in it when I’ve had my cuppa.
Hi Kate! 💖 Thank you for sharing your inspiring journey with intermittent fasting. It’s incredible to see how you’ve shifted from feeling trapped by food to finding a more balanced relationship with it.
I’m curious about your experience: what specific strategies or mindset shifts helped you the most during those early stages when things didn’t go as smoothly? Also, for someone considering intermittent fasting, do you have any tips on how to approach it in a way that prioritizes mental well-being alongside physical health? Your insights could really help others on similar paths!
Day 23 – Rural Nebraska, USA – NFD
Starting in perhaps August, I tried to establish the habit that I would only report my weight on Saturday mornings, but it’s been so delightful over the past few days that I’ve been unable to be silent most of the time, and today is another day: 155.2 after yesterday’s WF. It will absolutely go up a bit once I put any food at all inside me, but I’m highly intrigued to wonder if I’ll touch into 154 on Friday morning, and am absolutely LOVING this new RESOLVE that’s allowing my WFDs to do their work while not undoing it all with ugly NFDs!
@merryapple Which video in particular, what technique? I can imagine knitting will help soothe your soul as you wait for the healing to take place.
@michelinme So glad the conference was rewarding–and OVER, LOL! Have a lovely time with your daughter!
@funshipfreddie Too funny about learning to knit from your grandmother and your dad not being impressed, LOL. I hope the water has made its way where it belongs and your streets are no longer flooded so much!
@penz That’s a cool story about craving carrots/your multi-vitamin. I strongly believe our body can tell us lots of important information if we can simply learn to truly listen and hear.
@flourbaby Oh, how irritating and frustrating to lose two posts! I do hope your schedule finally gives you some breathing space soon. ❤️
@excelsior12309 Hmmm… “needlepoint to keep his eyes and fingers well-coordinated.” Not a connection I’ve ever made, but perhaps as a pianist/organist I already have that skilled as honed as anyone’s ever is? I love the tidbits that get dropped on this forum!
@jaifaim I have thoroughly missed you and your chatter, so WELCOME back! And what a lovely vacation you described; I’m so glad it was so perfect for you!
@northgeorgia Nice weight this morning!
Okay, it’s house-tidying day since my cleaning lady comes this afternoon. It’s a toss-up whether the best part of her coming is that it’s CLEAN or because it’s TIDY, LOL! When I grow up, I’m going to keep my house tidy all the time. 🫤😂😂 Perhaps in retirement…??
Have a grand one, everyone!!
USA. Day 23. FD
Another mindful eating day. I am counting on this!

Day 23 – USA/GA – NFD
Weigh-in: 233 lbs. Getting a later start and a later end today, so I’ll have to be more mindful about what I choose for meals 🙂
Dave…
Cows all gone now.. it’s a bit early .. lovely to have more walking areas..

Day 23 – Ireland..🚫 ✅ 🚶🏽♀️ 🌾
159lbs 😬🫢
Hello hello everyone! I hope you are all well!
I feel like I really need to get back to posting and my routine. I’ve missed you all but just couldn’t get to fit some things into my days in the past month… work was hectic and life seems busier than usual since I got back from my holidays! We all had such a wonderful time!!! More on that later…
I weighed last Friday and vowed to make a dent on the number before I posted… turns out I got up to 160lbs eek! Between holiday fun times (I didn’t do too badly there! and letting go of the reins after I got back the numbers have climbed… I know that with a bit of absolute focus I’ll get back down but I don’t think it will be EOEO… so as of this past Monday I have been applying myself to my old habits: FD Monday and tomorrow and cutting sugar and alcohol. Increasing daily exercise 👍 although that has been a constant.
Thank you all for your lovely birthday wishes! I had a lot of fun 🤩
The holiday was just brilliant! I’d forgotten how lovely it is to be far far away for a good break. People were so lovely we spent three days at my pals house in Long Island and then travelled to Chicago as a surprise and then on to Boston. It’s a bit of a distant memory now 😂😂 but I absolutely loved every moment of it… swam in the Atlantic and Lake Michigan. Loved Chicago @songbirdme – so slick ♥️ , cycled the lake shore, hiked a little, ate deep pan pizza, caught a baseball game at Fenway Park, walked the Freedom Trail, dined in so many fab spots and had the best cocktails (back on the wagon now). Ate so well! Portions have definitely decreased since I was last there – that’s a great thing!
Ok I’m back…. 😂👍👍
see you tomorrow!

Day 23-No. VA USA-NFD
Yesterday was a controlled eating day, so nothing extreme, and weight was down a bit this morning. @stitchincarol and @northgeorgia, way to go! @penz, I hope the wine dinner is good. Will it feature Australian wines, or worldwide? We have a small restaurant in town that features dinners with wines chosen by the chef to accompany the courses. Haven’t been there in a while, though. Dog training seminar online sounds interesting. Who will get the benefit of your learning? Do you have dogs you try things out on?
@funshipfreddie, with your new craft skills, I feel you can definitely reactivate your needlework…my mother had a friend years ago who was a neurosurgeon, and he did needlepoint to keep his eyes and fingers well-coordinated, she said.
@merryapple, we have relatives who hunt deer and freeze it for use over the winter. My husband likes venison; I have become hesitant about it since we are seeing the deer “wasting disease” here in the US, which affects them similarly to mad cow. It is a prion-type disease. No official cases in humans, so far. But wow, there are waaaayyyy too many deer in this area.
@flourbaby, keep plodding along. The yogurt is good for you! Perhaps adjust how much per day?
@michelinme, best wishes to your daughter.
Keep on descending!
One more week of outstanding-ness left!
When I had my heart attack they said in hospital that fasting was good for me, Denise gained half a pound this week so it’s not happy, she’s not getting any better and I’m sick of telling her to see the doctor, she’s so stubborn. The sun is out so going bowling this afternoon give Denise chance to catch-up on her soaps. She’s ordered sausage and mash with onion gravy for tea so I must make it ok. Have the cows gone for the winter now Jean?
Day 23 NFD NZ 69.2kg 🏃🏼♀️
Up a wee bit but I had a large delicious wild Venison steak for dinner last night. No @flourbaby, it wasn’t Bambi… (might be a close relative though) Deer cause so much damage to the flora in NZ and I’m happy to support the hunters.
Tonight was fish and it’s a FD for me tomorrow.
@penz I hope your dogs approved the training course for you🤣
@funshipfreddie Delighted to know you’re a knitter!! We’re getting a lot of hot air from Australia at the moment(what’s new!) It’s getting dry here and temps are up for this time of year
Absolutely fantastic @stitchincarol!!! You’ll be down to your Xmas goal soon, not that I can remember what that was!!
Same to you @northgeorgia Great to see you’re numbers down
@ccco That sounds like a good plan. Your mindful eating might just be the ticket for you!!
@excelsior12309 Yes best you leave those Halloween candies in their bags!!!
@michelinme Your DD will be happy to see you… Take care of yourself too…
I’m off to bed 💤
Day 23, London, UK, FD800
I forgot to press submit yesterday and today I pressed submit, but wasn’t logged in!!😩😡😡
Today’s lost post wasn’t particularly lengthy as I’m absolutely flat out and haven’t had a chance to catch-up & comment!!
I’m plodding along but not getting the desired results! I’m going to revisit my plan this weekend, perhaps the dairy has to go!😳😩😳 I should have shares in ‘Authentic Greek Yoghurt’🤤🤤
Anyway, I hope everyone’s doing well & keeping the faith!! I’ll try to squeeze some more time from somewhere so I can catch up with everyone!🙏🏼🙏🏼
