  • Hi everyone I started today on the 5:2 diet and am doing ok, but am thinking only of dinner all day….!! So Im wondering what to have – salmon fillet with salad, or omelette and salad, egg on toast, beans on toast??

Could you point me in the right direction please something quick and easy (Im no chef)

    Thank you in advance xx

    Hi there lilysingledene,
I only started yesterday so for dinner yesterday I had this:
can of weightwatchers chicken noodle soup 51 cals
Small bag of morrisons leafy salad 16 cals
    4 x cherry tomatoes 16 cals
small can of tuna in brine (drained) 56 cals
Total cals for dinner 139 🙂
Was surprised at how full I felt after eating only this as main meal!
    Good luck!

Thank you Spooney! Ive had a banana already today, is that going to muck up my day, or will it be fine as long as I have no more than 500cals a day…? 🙂

No it won’t muck up your day having a banana 🙂 Just remember as long as everything you have adds up to no more than 500 cals.
I broke up my day yesterday and was eating small amounts every few hours and still only managed to consume 488 cals in total.
I feel this works better for me rather than just drinking tea/coffee/water all day and using the 500 cals for just one main meal! I suppose it’s like most things – you’ll find out what works best for you once you start doing it!

    i am just starting out

On the fast day, do I eat the 500 cals as one meal or divide it throughout the day?

On a fast day I usually eat a serving of cooked vegetables like butternut squash or brussel sprouts and carrots for dinner. I pair this with a serving of lean protein, fish, chicken or beef, depending on what I feel like eating. Good luck!

Your choice. Many people find that one evening meal high in fat/protein is the best way to go. Many report that if they eat carbs, especially early in the day, they are hungry all day.
