  • Sounds daft I know but am I right in thinking that it is a 24 hour period ?
For example I had a meal on Monday and finished at 8 pm I then had a 150 cal snack at 11 am on the tues and a 200 cal snack at 5pm and then nothing apart from drink until 8 pm (24hrs later) when I finished the “fast” and ate normally. Is this how you do it ? Please help !

Try to make it a 36 hour fast. But basically to START to get the gene switch healing benefit you need to fast for at least 12 hours without eating anything beyond water. Note you have to fast for longer than 12 hours.

But to do the 5:2 fast its ideally a period of 36 hours with restricted calories and there are no rules when you should have those calories. read the FAQ for more. This fast will achieve weightloss but not much else really i think. Oh yeah, your digestive organs will get a bit of a rest.

Personally i find it easier to fast for two days consecutively than two separate days.

I am new here and it helps to hear your ideas about the fasting because I also was not too sure. Thanks

That’s great thanks for your help, it did feel fairly easy, I’ll use that as a practice.

    Hi 282:

A day runs from midnight to midnight. Given peoples’ average sleep patterns, it comes out to when you go to bed to when you wake up one day later – go to bed, get up, eat 500/600 calories during your waking hours, go to bed, get up, eat your TDEE or less. Good Luck!
