Uncertain Newbie needs advice

Having now been a member of this lovely and friendly Forum for just over a week, it’s been amazingly informative, fun, and friendly. However…. I’m not sure whether I’ve got it right. I’ve been scrolling through the thread titles and posting on whatever thread seems most relevant to what I wanted to say. Reading through this morning’s posts, I’m uncertain whether one has to be invited to contribute to a thread or is it OK to just pitch in?
I have read the introduction to the Forums but I can be a bit thick at times.
Please tell me if I’ve got it wrong.

Just wade in, wicken. You can contribute to as many threads as you like. You’ll possibly find, though, that here are two or three on which you end up posting much more regularly than others. There are a couple I only visit to say hello to someone who doesn’t post as often as he or she has done in the past. Enjoy your day, and thanks for the wise little poem.

PS Sorry about the mix-up over whose granddaughter plays football.
