    Oh my. Great FD until sat in a little cafe, I ordered a coffee, my girls had chips. They didn’t finish so I merrily picked a few chips before I realised! What a banana am I!! I don’t feel bad as it was an accident not a bad decision. It was only a few chips. Too many but not enough to make the scales go up, maybe just prevent them going down. Grrrr!!!!!

    Will try to get in a 24 hr fast but it’s a challenge this week being as we are in a hotel the next 7 days. And no scales so will weigh when I get home. First day of travel and first night at hotel was pretty low calorie. My OH is willing to split meals so that helps a lot!

    A bit over tdee but better than the last week.
    No breakfast or lunch then succumbed to small piece of fruitcake at cafe at 4pm.
    Sea bass, broccoli and spoonful of whole grains with lentils at 6.30pm.
    Will have hot drink and go to bed early!

    A good FD, but not felt brilliant today and went for nap this afternoon.
    OH made me a lovely omelet with spinach.

    I know we have posted about mindfulness and mediation, I wonder if anyone has come across headspace.com? I have just started reading the Headspace diet book, so far very interesting! I’m going to start the daily meditation – take 10. I think it will also help with my recent anxieties.

    Ate about 350cals for the 36 hours
    Planning to watch my intake this week on MFP to get the loss going again even though last weeks gain was likely to be cyclical
    Still doesn’t feel good to go the wrong way on the scales

    Not too bad of a day, I kept my mind occupied at work which passed the time. Did 3 miles walking to and from work but walking home I was really tired and my trainers felt like lead!
    Had the usual boiled egg and yogurt for breakfast and chicken salad for dinner and a satsuma.
    I’ve decided my scales is a female teen so hoping she likes me at tomorrow’s weigh in but your never know…

    So far… So good!
    have a shiritaki noodle soup for dinner – well under 500 cals.
    Read a bit about the 16:8 today. I didn’t know what it was so looked it up. Interesting… and a good piece of information to have in your back pocket… i suppose if you fall off the wagon during a fast day, you *could* parlay it into a 16:8… That’s an added tool for me!!

    Yesterday’s water fast went great. Was tempted a couple of times but thought about how would I feel later about succumbing and was able to stop myself. Was happy on the scales this morning. Down 500gms, so only 600gms back to my lowest so far. Hoping to get there this week. Really want to get below that this challenge.

    Day 17, E.Canada. The FD regularly scheduled for this slot has been rescheduled. I dunno, Fuvvie, maybe we need a new designation – ‘D’ for duh. ‘D’ for disaster. ‘D’ for didn’t commit to the plan.

    First: back2thefuture, I’m glad I was able to make you smile, being in pain and trying not to ‘soothe-eat’ is so hard.

    Erika- I think we all need an ‘in case of emergency break glass’ snack. The kind that doesn’t destroy our plans.

    Rocy5. I think you have earned the right to wear the food halo today. Cucumber instead of cake?!!

    I woke up early after a horrible nightmare. Got up, ate breakfast, went back to bed, got up again, finished second bowl of bran flakes before realized I’d already eaten breakfast. That’s a first.

    Okay, time to refocus. Tried to work on a high pressure project, broke to go for swim, telling myself I had to make time. Back for a salad.

    Back to try and work. I am trying too hard. I’m scared, anxious. What is the matter with me?

    Let’s see:
    two breakfasts, 360
    Salad – great except it came with dried pineapple, almonds, and worst of all those Chinese noodle things. 150/510

    Blackberries – fine, 50 – 560

    Oh boy. Out of the way everyone, moth just jumped off the bridge. Two and a half fingers of a Kit Kat bar. What happened – I bought a banana just for this very moment. DAMN. 145 – 705

    And… we have dinner. Steak, 230, Small baked potato with 1 t butter, 160, more salad, 150 – 1245

    Allowance for stuff I ate but can’t remember – 100 – 1345. Well, that’s just about my TDEE.

    Didn’t get the project done, so it lurks torturing me for another day, and I miss the FD. Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh.

    Moth – how about L for Learning Day. You stuffed up, yes, but what did you learn about your reactions to that which can be used to fuel your long term goal of normal weight, better health, keeping it that way.
    e.g.
    – bad dream – how to feel better without using food and forgo eating without thinking
    – wrong salad – different choice of salad somehow or eat 2/3 or 3/4 of it not the lot,
    – the Kit Kat came from ? make it harder or impossible to get one quickly
    – FD protein choice could be lower, research protein per 100gm of other protein you e.g. prawns, calamari, some fish, lean turkey breast
    – have no potato or forgo the butter
    – stuff you can’t remember – guilt eating? because you’d blown your FD

    If you look at it this way your ‘FD’ isn’t wasted but becomes part of your progress towards your goal rather han a step backwards. We are all fallible. We all do what we dion’t want to do at times, and we all make emotional decisions. 5:2 is forgiving and includes the opportunity to learning about ourselves with the opportunity to make changes and then continue on our journey. From yesterday, what is the thing that glares out at you the most? Work on a strategy to change that first.

    Yesterday’s fast day went well. Stick to liquids and consumed about 100 calories. Would have been less but I had two teaspoons of the beef braise liquor. I may have over estimated the calories as the only other I had was from splashes of milk in coffee.

    Have yet to break my fast although it is only just about to go 9am. I might see if I can go to lunch or even dinner.

    Unfortunately, I didn’t get my walk in when I got home. Try again today. Looks like the weather is a bit warmer so fingers crossed for better success.

    @merryme – I really like your learning day. Considered reflection can give us a lot of insight to our issues, especially when you remove concepts of blame and guilt from the equation. Easier said than done sometimes.

    We all have those L days. We truly do. This rather spectacular forum has taught me that I just not be too hard on myself when these days occur but to use them to my advantage by learning the lessons tgey teach.

    #Moth54 you are not alone in your struggles. Lean on the forum knowing we know precisely what you are going through. I say good for you for pushing on

    NFD for me here. Although it will be a very sensible NFD. I’ve learned that I cannot eat past about 6pm. I just hold whatever I eat past that hour. So on NFD I shall have my main meal around 12:00/13:00. Come 17:00 I’ll have a light tea then that’s that! I do so want t get below the 140lb mark. 142lb today. Always 142lb!!!!

    Day 17: Pacific NW USA, NFD, 16:8 with hummus and chicken pâté with celery sticks for lunch and a brothy chicken veg soup for dinner. Getting ready for next road trip so needed to work on work stuff late through the evening in order to get caught up so it’s a quick scan and posting tonight before the coach turns back into a pumpkin. Since we’re re-initializing our days, tomorrow I will have a FD, or Free Day, at least from counting calories as I will depend on my liquids to get me through the next 36 hours. Good health all and to all a good night/morning!

    I weigh 74.2kg. Finally back in a downward trend, would love to get closer to 73 by the end of the month.
    Loved your post Merryme…learning days is a wonderful way of looking at it. I shall put your pearl of wisdom to good use.
    Rocy65 I used headspace for a bit but didn’t pay for any of the extra content. I would like to meditate but find it very difficult. The take 10 helped me feel a little more comfortable with not being able to clear my mind. I hope you find it helpful. Every now and again I try to listen to a deepak chopra guided meditation that I like

    a look.
    The difference now for me since joining here is that the awful let down feelings after ‘blowing it’ do
    not stay with me. I feel more connected to like minded people, all pursuing the same goal, which is ultimately to have better health.
    Let’s get back on the horse together. Not the same horse, lol.

    UK day 18 FD -first in a while for me ,just spent an hour or so catching up on all the posts, some great advice and can really identify with a lot of the struggles. So had a great long weekend away yes I indulged but I really believe it wasn’t to the extent I would have previously and I have to admit old friends commenting on how much slimmer and healthier I looked is a great motivator ! Planned my meals for the next few days, really want to try and end this challenge on a high and record a loss

    Have continued FD – will finish tomorrow morning. Aware that have a 3-day weekend this week & don’t want to go backwards (like this past weekend!). So will probably FD again on Thursday. Saw someone mention no eating after 6pm – think I need to be more vigilant with that also.

    Surrey UK Day 18 NFD Good fast day yesterday, if it weren’t for this thread I would have given up weeks ago. Everyone here should be aware that they are incredibly valuable to the welfare of everyone else. As a group we are very strong, and when one weakens somewhat, everyone else’s input is so supportive.     Sorry Fuvvie I have been a bit AWOL as it is my really busy time at work and I going away on a business trip soon.

    I will post when and where I can up to the end of this month and then I won’t be around until mid November so will try and join in on the new challenge when I am back.

    FD for me yesterday and again today or if not today then tomorrow!!! Depends on how hungry I feel later. I went back to my Pilates and swimming at the weekend so pleased about that. Trying to exercise 5 out of 7 days now that I have finally shaken off the lurgy I have had for a couple of weeks.

    A good fast day yesterday – had fish and salad for dinner but didn’t eat it all. Won’t eat until lunchtime today.
    I am finding the BSD very easy – 800 cals doesn’t sound much but when it is low/no carb it’s easy to stick to and I don’t feel hungry. I actually got to the point where I find it hard to eat too much even when I can.
    Down to 9st! Two days to get below that for my holiday!

    Didn’t get to sit down and eat a proper dinner tonight because was on the run and with others. When I finally got home I ended up having a meal of snacks! Not the best way to nourish myself, though I’m exhausted and was all I could bring myself to do since no preparation required. Fasting day tomorrow. I’m preparing for that now.

    Sunshine Coast Aus Day 18 Aus: FD morphed into NFD: Allowed frustrations to tip me into emotional earring today. When will I learn that it only adds to the brain fog?????

    Skinny Flat White – 130 cals
    589 for the day (600 budget)
    Walked 7.8 Kms for 648 Cals
    Negative Calories for the first time!

    NFD – have decided my maintenance is hard. The NFD’s are more of a challenge than I thought they would be with a few sweet treats that likely have added a couple pounds. Ugh. Will go back to 5:2 to see if it will keep off the couple pounds. 163 today, and likely not to go down any time soon as I am eating out 3 times in the next couple days.

    Off to brunch with a friend at a Swedish Pancake House. Will do my best to order eggs and no carbs!

    Day 18: Gloucestershire, UK: Non-fast day.
    Bright and breezy day delivering the post today.
    Yesterday’s fast day was a reasonable success…just a (large) bowl of sugarless porridge around 5pm. Weight stable. Today, eating-wise, trying hard to pace myself and not get into binge-mode. Always a danger with me.

    Georgia/USA/Day 18/NFD:

    Yesterday’s FD was good. stuck to my plan. Didn’t snack on pickles as much as I had planned. really wasn’t that hungry. I had a bowl of grilled brussell sprouts for dinner. Delish! Looking forward to eating sensibly today. I’m liking that menu @emmsee! Care to share?

    FD yesterday was excellent. Good food, stayed within calories. Around 9:30 p.m. I *almost* poured a small glass of wine, but didn’t and just went to bed a little after. Scale’s at 128.6, the lowest so far, but I’ll give it another day or two to officially weigh in.

    About half way down the page. Another favourite of mine -Mahi Mahi / Salmon & Veggie Skillet
    is on the same page (307 Cals)
    I’ll add a new FD recipe to that forum regularly.
    I use an app called Evernote to collect/store recipes in and have added 71 new FD recipes in the past week – they’re out there – you just need to use mans best friend 0 Google to find them,

    Good Morning All, USA, Missori Ozarks, Day 18, Fasting

    Yesterday’s fast went fine, didn’t eat at all from 7 p.m. on Sunday until 7 p.m. last night. Ate a very small square of Stouffer’s lasagna with one small piece of garlic toast (but I wanted about three,, haha) Also had salad with just red wine pomegranate vinegar for dressing. I always say the best way to ruin a good salad is with a bad dressing.

    Got all the exercise in, I have an entire circuit that I try to do everyday, hate to miss any of it.

    Drinking hot lemon water right now, will just drink tea and water until I break the fast at 7 p.m. tonight. I feel soooooooooooo much better on fast days. I would fast everyday but would imagine that eventually my weight would get below a level that I felt comfortable with. Hopefully two or three days a week will be a good maintenance plan.

    Have wonderful day all. It was dark and windy all day yesterday, sunny and mild today. Actually record breaking warmth for this time of year – close to 90 degrees.

    Texas, Day 18. Yes! I did it! Yesterday’s FD is completed – 36 hours of no calories fast. I hope to repeat it on Thursday.

    Moth54 – I am with you. Almost 10 month thru the process, and still did not figure out how calories tricked their way to my mouth in record time!!! LOL!

    Not such a good fast day yesterday but I don’t think I was much over 500 cals. Feeling really under the weather because of my cold, so feel the need to eat. Trying to eat friendly foods.

    Did not fast well yesterday. But lower than an NFD. I honestly think this dang election is just getting to me.

    My hubby was out last night so I went to a local and sat at the bar with a plate of cheese, some radishes and a glass of wine. I took home half the cheese…and had it grilled for breakfast. A nice treat and not over the top.

    I am meeting a friend for lunch at a place that has calorie counts on all their choices. Delicious food too. (Pret A Manger)

    For dinner, I will make stuffed Acorn squash. Chickpeas, quinoa, and whatever veggies need to be cooked.

    Progress 4.5 lbs this month – on target i think.
    Yesterday was a fd – it went pretty well. Only 250 cals for the day.
    Also forgot to mention that i did the 21 day fix Cardio Fix yesterday.
    the fasting does affect my mood though – around 9 pm any little thing makes me want to cry. and although the day is a success, the the scale is my friend, i feel ‘blue’ or sad when i wake up. i hope my body gets used to the fasting because this sucks.
    i will add Amino Acids – esp DLPA back into my daily routine to see if that helps – but nobody wants to be around Eyor!

    Good FD yesterday but my scale this am registers the lingering impact of my Carb/Calorie/Snacking weekend conference;at same weight as a week ago after FD. Oh well…the fresh air and country walks were good for me, and the fall colours were good for the soul. Thinking I may, anonymously, send the conference centre cooks an updated cookbook showing something beyond 1960’s casseroles,lasagna, and slab cake desserts!

    Today I cooked a beef recipe which was supposed to go into the oven but cooked it on low heat for two hours on the hob instead as one of my ovens needs to be repaired and the other oven which still works was too small for the casserole pot to go inside it. I have a double oven. The repair man came today but said he will come tomorrow to take it away as he couldn’t repair it here. Anyway cooked spare ribs for my son who doesn’t like beef. I served the beef stufado (Justine Pattison without the calories series) with whole wheat rice and conjak rice for myself.

    For breakfast I had my usual 160 calories, craters and white coffee and this evening I’ll have a Greek yogurt with honey and a banana. That will keep me below my TDEE.

    NFD. Made pumpkin pancakes for breakfast with coconut flour. I was craving something other than veggies/meat. They hit the spot.

    DAY 18. NJUSA NFD started my Monday fast day with a Vengeance until I realized mid-afternoon it was my book club day as many of you might remember I don’t tell anybody I’m on 52 I don’t want anybody preaching at me so I knew I had to eat something so I had a spinach salad small piece of meat and a spoonful of mashed potatoes so hopefully I didn’t do too much damage to myself. Started today off with an apple and a little bit of peanut butter and hopefully to help undo yesterday’s damage won’t eat until dinner tonight lots of water tea and coffee. Crazy rest of the week with pre wedding plans so I don’t think I’m going to get my second fast day and today but will be extremely aware of what I’m eating that stupid Halloween candy is still talking to me I put it in a drawer so hopefully if I don’t see it I won’t eat it have a good day everyone
