  • I start this Monday. I am going 5:2 (Mondays and Thursdays), but I hope to do some weeks with 5:3, once I am in the swing with the plan.

I’m pretty sure I have an eating disorder related to PTSD, but I have GOT to start getting my eating and weight and blood sugar and BMI under control. I chose the user name TheLongView because instead of looking at the long road ahead, I am taking the long view that this is about my health, for my sake and my family’s sake.

    Here we go…..

Ah, a math error with my post above. Some weeks I hope to do 4:3 (not 5:3)!

I also need to get my eating and my weight sorted and I did lose some weight a couple of months back with 5:2 but sadly I lost my dad in May 2015 and I’ve put the weight back on!!
I really must get my ‘get up and go ‘ to come back but in truth I’ve just become a couch potato and I can’t find the willpower to start again. I love walking but recently it’s become a chore which hasn’t helped. Perhaps this is my way of dealing with grief and everything that goes with it but perhaps that too is an excuse. Whatever, I really need to sort myself out and get on with it and life again….!!

    Good luck, TheLongView and muffintopgirl.

I have a history with disordered eating, though long in my past. I was worried when I started 4:3, but basically, my plan was to quit if I started old habits. What I found, at least initially, was that fasting three days a week reduced my appetite on non-fast days. It was actually uncomfortable to eat too much. So as long as I kept sweets in check, it went really well. I lost ~50lbs in 9 months and have been maintaining that loss for 1.5 years. I continue to fast 2-3 times a week. My weight is higher than I like (mostly because I haven’t been keeping sweets in check on non-fast days!), but nowhere near what it was back when I started.
