This will be the first time that I have contemplated dieting and I’m a little nervous. So far so good (3 hours in) but I’m a little apprehensive just in case hunger takes me by the throat.
Any first day heroic suggestions?

Hi victoria210, congratulations on starting 5:2 🙂
Hopefully you have your 500 calories for the day all planned out. Most people find that it’s helpful to stay hydrated, busy and distracted from food on a fast day, particularly in the beginning. Remember that you can eat what you want tomorrow. The first fast day is usually the hardest, it gradually gets easier as your body gets used to it.
How much do you want to lose? Are you interested in the other health benefits of intermittent fasting?
Good going, victoria! Actually, the less you have to lose, the harder it is, most of the time. But many people who just couldn’t shift a last few pounds have found 5:2 helpful. And the fasting days do get easier with time. Enjoy the book, and check out some of the threads, it’s OK to join in where you think you see kindred spirits.
