  • I didn’t think you meant sharing the coordination, Lael. Doing study is hard enough without trying to hostess a site. Do not fear. I’m no longer quite a newbie but have a long way to being “qualified”. I only started on 26th April and joined the site on 29th April. I was so strict when I started and lost weight fairly quickly. Don’t feel I’m going anywhere just now but feel that continuing to check in is helpful. I’m eating too much but still avoid sugar and grains. Have lapsed into having a glass of wine or two more often, so will start to avoid that again as it kicks me straight out of ketosis.
No need to start thinking about October. We’re only half way through September. I’ve got to get a handle on this month.
You’re doing really well, Lou Belles. Good for you.
    Lany36, love your enthusiasm.
Oh dear Quebecoise. Anger can be a motivator sometimes but if it makes you eat, it’s a swine. 😡😱 Did it help dissipate the angry feelings? If I eat when I’m angry, I end up with reflux. No joy there. Hope you feel better quickly. Great that the scales were smiling at you after FD.

    London (Scorchio!), day 14, NFD

Fuvvie I’d love to continue with the October challenge, BUT I’m away from the 6-15th Oct on a 10-day meditation retreat and will have no access to my phone/internet. If you’re still OK with that, please add me.

In terms of Sept Challenge, things aren’t going too well. I feel stressed (I haven’t exercised since Saturday) and my cravings are back with a vengeance! I meant to fast today but now I have a headache and I’m hungry – so I’ve decided to postpone it to tomorrow.
As for weight – not much has changed on the scales (up or down), still hanging around 68.8kg.

Though I haven’t had a chance to read each and every post in detail, it looks like some of you are seeing great results from fasting. As soon as my little dark cloud lifts I’ll be back feeling inspired from all your stories. Need to get my self back up and on the wagon ASAP…

Have a lovely day all x

    Day 14 US NFD
FD went well yesterday. Kept busy the whole day and night which made it so much easier. Will try to stay focused today. Walking four miles on treadmill this morning. Strength training yesterday.I am going to the state fair today with a good friend. She is so much fun and makes me laugh.

    US, Day 14, FD….

Good NFD yesterday, but as far as the challenge goes, I am still holding steady in the low 120s. I had a few days in 119ville. Maybe my body is telling me something.

Delicious dinner of feta-stuffed lamb burgers, with sauteed spinach and arugula salad.

Instead of having the instant miso, I brought some miso paste in a plastic baggie with the leftover arugula. I’m going to see if the real stuff is worth the planning.

Extra post – thanks for taking over Fuvvie, count me in! Adaline I am also. Happy to try and use your template as well though don’t promise good spreadsheet skills! 🙂 I have found alternate fasting days really hard but am sticking to it.

Hi all UK still day 14 – don’t worry about signing up for October just yet everyone – an invitation will be sent out and a link put up so you will all have an opportunity when the time is right.

    Day 14|NFD|Toronto
NFD eating yesterday was “OK”, just under TDEE but not as nutritionally balanced as I would like; reverting to quick solutions such as protein powder smoothies seems to be a habit.
    Best regards

Day 14. NJ U S A. NFD. Finishing up a 36 hour fast always feel so good. Tdee today and fast tomorrow – missed Monday did Tuesday instead so Thursday is here already –
so happy October is shaking out – thank you Fuvvie for stepping up. I love this format. Read every post with my hot water with lemon in the mornings. Stay strong everyone.

    Day 14 USA (Illinois)

NFD today. Busy day planned with lessons, exercise, church music rehearsal. Ah, the life of a retired music teacher.

Down 1.5 pounds on the scale! Yeah for that! Especially glad because I have not exercised much lately. A friend of a friend wants to lose weight, and she recommended my WOL. Likely I will loan her my 5:2 book and tell her about our little band here.

Adline: Good on you for liking statistics – so few understand them (I’m one!). Maybe one day I will join one of your challenges and learn something. I love people trying new things – just not ready to do it myself yet. And I’m impressed by you working all that out for everyone!

    Day 14: Gloucestershire, UK: Fast day…..so far, it’s 4pm.
Pissupoosa: I feel so much like you at the moment. Stressed. I know I’m not going to stick out this fast day. I feel like I want to eat every day, but just know I’ll put the weight back on if I do.
Tomorrow is my birthday, so I won’t be fasting, of course…and the next day we are eating out and (hopefully) meeting up with our very busy daughter for a catch-up.
    Then, who knows?

    Day 14 second post
    Happy birthday for tomorrow Ciren2!

This week feels like I’m walking through mud! – Monday’s 36h fast ended up being a 24h hour one (at least that) but ended up eating more at dinner time than I intended to. Yesterday was also an eating fest 🙁
Today, the only thing I’m looking forward to is my yoga core-TRX class after work, where I will be concentrating on nothing but my physical pain :-p

Thank you for understanding ciren2. It’s good to know I’m not alone. Tomorrow is another day – who know, indeed!

    Gozo, Malta

DebbieQ please note that I’ll be away from next Friday to Sunday and I won’t be posting here.

Ciren2 happy birthday for tomorrow. Ofcourse you eyed to enjoy yourself and eat food you like and enjoy. Its your birthday you should enjoy it to the full.

Fuvvie and Adaline thanks for taking the October challenge.

Today I fasted until lunchtime at 300 calories only to continue fast day from yesterday lunchtime. I had to dried prunes 50 calories about two an a half hours ago and for this evening I’ll have one portion teviotdale beef pie.

Tomorrow is a non fast day for me and I’ll weigh myself in the morning.

Have a great evening everyone. Stay strong and be happy.

    Day 14
    Ontario
Walked again this morning 3KM, and out at lunch for another 1 KM
Yesterday good day for eating, staying under the 800 calories
I made huge stock pot full of bone broth (knuckle bones and trotter) simmered for 48 hours. Bottled that and then froze, and tried another batch but in the crock pot, used a couple of the bones from the stock batch, and on low for 2 full days. Turned out yummy, and now I have lots to use for drinking, soups, and many recipes. I made a batch of soup then for this week and that’s all I have for lunch, which is my first meal of the day. Supper last night was Nicoise salad, so fresh and delicious with green beans, tomatoes, lettuce, olives, tuna, sardines, parsely and onion with an olive oil vinagrette.
Beet and pecan salad tonight, plus the soup for lunch.
Not feeling hungry anymore and lost 3 of the pounds I gained on holiday so far which has only been 3 days. I can handle pound a day!

Australia Day 15 NFD weigh in day – yesterday’s alternate fast day was very hard but paid off as I have lost 1.3kg this week. Happy birthday Ciren! Today is my 32nd wedding anniversary and we will have a fancy family dinner tonight at one of the local fine dining restaurants. No breakfast, a very light lunch and no dessert to make sure I stay within my TDEE. Happy day all 🙂

Aussie day 15 I too would like to do October challenge. FD today going to spend the day gardening out of sight of food.

    US Day 14 NFD
Fuvvie .. Thanks for offering to take on October and hanks for the compliment on pearls of wisdom. I never consider it that… just speaking from the heart 😊
VP .. lol.. I haven’t been told yet that I’m radiant but he does comment that I’m doing great. I’ll take what I can get!
BrightonBelle…I about had a heart attack… I went to check you in for today and you were totally missing from my spreadsheet!!! All’s well now and you’re back where you should be. I’ll mark you away till Saturday. I hope you’re doing something fun!
Hannah… happy anniversary…. Enjoy your dinner!

    Day 14 USA NFD

    Day 14/PA, USA/NFD

On vacation so enjoying life (i.e., food). Not going as crazy as I would’ve before the fast diet, that’s a good thing.

    Positive thoughts to all! 🙂

Day 15 / Australian in Asia / FD

Good morning everyone and happy anniversary Hanna and birthday Ciren2! I hope both your days are lovely.

Good non fast day for me yesterday. Hard, but good – stuck within my TDEE (although I did have 2 glasses of wine after dinner but made sure they fit in my TDEE). I put beef stroganoff in the slow cooker yesterday morning and it was a great smell to walk in to after work.

Fasting today – hope it’s not as hard as Tuesday was (I don’t usually like to do fasts with only one day in between, but Monday was a holiday so I didn’t fast). Water fasting until dinner tonight – delicious chicken stirfry with loads of veggies and garlic, ginger and soy sauce. Now I’m making myself hungry so shall stop.

Positive in PA hope you are enjoying your vacation.
Pissapusa and Ciren2 just keep going and forgive yourselves if you trip up a bit. Hang in there.

Extra warm thoughts to everyone else who I haven’t mentioned specifically. Have a great day everyone. Just keep on keeping on.

    Day 13/uk/NFD

    Salad with egg omelette
    chicken stir-fry

    Day 14/uk/NFD

Small portion of fish and chips

Have been riding my bike, but haven’t reset it. As i jump on and off when ever i can, il update the km at the end of the week.

Im finding fasting pretty hard, im sure im not really hungry im just craving surgar. Surgar cravings are worse than being hungry. Day 14 (yesterday) was supposed to be a fast day. Got to around 7pm then had a small portion of fish and chips. Should have gone too bed really maybe.

    Croatia, Day 15, NFD
    Weight: 76.7 Kg

    Day 15, DE, IF 20/4.

Day 14 USA.FD. Having a good FD today so far. I will be drinking water the rest of the evening to keep from snacking. Evenings are a terrible time for me. I am wearing my “STRENGTH” inscription bracelet to help keep me focused on the end of my FD. My scale is showing a downward trend but have yet to lose all the weight I gained on my vacation. Stay strong!

    @debbieq

Please, can you check me in also for the next 3 days, because I will be travelling and I don’t know exactly how my time will be. Day 16 – IF 20/4, Days 17 and 18 – I will try only one meal. Thank you! 🌷

    Day 15 – Switzerland – NFD
Weight 91.2kgs. Supposed to be a FD but swapping with tomorrow as I feel a bit unwell. Still finding it hard to buckle down and log all food on NFDs so no secret where the gain comes from.
Best wishes for lovely days to Ciren and HannahW!!

    Day 14, Québec

    A NFD today.

    Day14/ USA/ NFD 23:30 (11:30 pm)
I could not manage a FD today. I was great until 5 pm. Then, went off the rails. Why screw it up at that late hour? I really have no answer. It wasn’t with unhealthy stuff, but fairly high calorie proteins and fats. Cheeses and nuts. Those do add up, by the way, despite what some people want to believe. Especially, if you have even an ounce of carbs to go with them and get your insulin levels up.
It was a stressful day, but not the worst I’ve had.
I think that since I am within 2-4 pounds of my goal weight, I do find myself slacking off. It is hard to stay motivated enough to fast. So, maybe I need to look at changing my goal weight to about 4-6 pounds less, which for my height would still be healthy. Actually, based on height and weight insurance scales, I could still lose 11 pounds or more. Even more if my small bone structure is taken into consideration.
Or maybe, I need a bit of a break after 5 months. I haven’t gained or lost for the last 2 weeks, so that is something. My goal was to see if I could maintain around 140. Still 4 pounds over that, but maybe it’s ok that I sustain here for awhile. Well, I’m going to just be mindful of intake and see what will come over the next couple weeks. If I can manage a FD I will say so. If just under TDEE, I’ll tell you about that also.
Best of luck to all of you. It’s an interesting journey!

    Extra Post
I hope you had a lovely Anniversary celebration, HannahWatto.
Ciren2, Happy, happy birthday! I hope you are having a wonderful day, dear!

    Day 15 Italy – NFD
I did it! I managed a Fast Day, didn’t make it on liquids only but kept under 500 calories…just. I caught myself in front of the kitchen cupboard just in time after i had been swimming but had a cup of tea instead!
I think i might do another one on Friday just to get back in the swing of things.
Happy birthday Ciren2 and Happy Anniversary HannahWatto, remember that lovely post of Coda’s about fasting and feasting? Well these are definitely occasions for feasting, celebrate well and create lovely memories. We’ll all be here tomorrow to pick up the pieces!!
Dmw2 don’t beat yourself up about it, just try again to Fast. Thats the beauty of 5:2, theres room even for a small fish and chips every now and again. Has your Mum stopped feeding you? I’m sure they will be very proud of all the effort you’re putting in…keep clocking those kilometres up on the exercise bike, they all count.
Fuvvie, i will stay on for October with you, you write some lovely inspiring posts even when you have so much on your plate, i’m sure you’ll make it a great month as we start the countdown towards Christmas. I’m already visualising the new slimmer me opening my pressies on Christmas morning

    15 / NFD / UK
On holiday. Fast days not v. successful. But still managed to avoid carbs and sugar. Spent second night of holiday in A&E (emergency room) with my son. 😩 When it rains…

UK day 15 – FD and ready for it! I’m going to try for fluids only until tomorrow.

    Gozo, Malta

Happy anniversary HannaWatto. Ciren2 happy birthday again.

NorthernDawn I can say I’m too about six pounds away from target weight. I weighted this morning and I’m down by 1.4 kilos from last week. I’m 66.5 kilos whereas I was 67.9 kilos last week. My bmi is 25 today. Total weight loss since I started 5:2 on 6 June 12.7 kilos or almost 2 stones.

I’m away for the weekend from tomorrow and I expect to eat more than usual so will probably gain a bit of weight.

Today is a NFD for me. I had breakfast at 150 calories. Will have fish and rice for lunch and something light for dinner.

Stay strong everyone. Have a great day everyone.

Day 14: Pacific NW USA, NFD

So many posts, some of you twice since I last logged on. I’ve got to keep up! I’m so happy Fuvvie will be heading up October and Fuvvie, you’ve already dropped so many pearls of wisdom that I’m sure you won’t be slowed down by being the leader.

Bethany – what happened with your son??

I had a successful 35 hour liquid only FD yesterday. 35 instead of 36 because I woke this morning very ready for breakfast. I made a BLT lettuce wrap with an egg and avacado – yes, I added everything! Dinner was tuna salad, berries and cream for later.

So far, the first half of this challenge, I’ve shed 3.5 lbs. My weight losses are slowing down, wonder if I should try ADF?? No time to slack off now! I do still have my sights set on fitting comfortably into one of my former US size 8 jeans as a milestone. Along with some traveling I have to do in Oct we are also expecting a new grandchild to arrive and that will mean seeing the “in-laws” and the rest of the family. And the end of Oct is my 6 month anniversary with my new WOL so I have many reasons to keep my shoulder to the grind stone the rest of Debbie’s challenge and into Fuvvie’s!!

    CIREN2 Happy birthday x

Day 15 / Tweed Coast Australia / NFD

Stepped on the scale this morning after yesterday’s FD and weighed slightly more than I did after previous FD and so I feel I’m in ‘consolidation’ phase after the larger than usual drop in weight last week. This is fine because sometimes I feel like I almost have to emotionally ‘catch up’ or grow into my new lower weight, especially when the loss is quick and sudden.

Fuvvie, I know what it feels like to be on a plateau. Sounds like you are gaining clarity on what steps to take to help you move through. Good for continuing to avoid sugar and grains. That’s not always easy!

    Day #15/USA/FD

Scale continues it’s slow march downward. This is the most successful week I’ve had in a long time. 🙂 I suppose the weekend will push the scale back up a bit as I always seem to eat, and drink, too much on weekends. Oh well….social events galore on weekends.

Hope you’re all having a great week!

    Day 15 NFD NZ
Totally lost the plot today. No excuses, no regrets other than the low level nausea from too much food with no nutritional value!
Had a super busy day at work, that doesn’t stress me, I much prefer to be challenged and busy while I’m working so that wasn’t the cause of my binge.
I have an early morning meeting tomorrow, hubby is staying home to get the kids to school so I’ll go straight from the super early gym session to the meeting then work through with the intention of walking the dog at lunchtime and having a single meal in the evening.
I may not restrict to a full fast day of under 500cals but I’ll aim to stay low and hope to make up some lost ground from today’s massive blow out.
My weigh in will be Saturday morning, just too much going on in the morning tomorrow to time a weigh in correctly.
Hope everyone else has stayed on track, think I’ve eaten enough spare calories for everyone today!

    Day 15, Australia, NFD
PT session this morning and a day within my TDEE I suspect but perhaps not a lot under it.

I’m planning on doing an 18/19 hour fast from 6pm each day to 12/ 1pm the following day. Thats my plan for the next week just to see how I go. VP.

    Day 15 Australia FD
Water fast again today. Doing well so far, though still plan on drinking another litre of water before bed to put me over three litres. Am really looking forward to breakfast though.
Happy birthday Ciren2! I hope you have a great day.

Finally finally i lost half a kilos this month – after my fast yesterday yippeee.. so total weight loss from august 3.6 kilos – feeling better about it and looking forward to fast day tomorrow.. – i need to plan better i feel on my 500 calories meal..

    US Day 15 FD
Bethany82… oh no! Hope he’s okay now. Adaline… noted days away.
Congrats to all who are showing losses this week. Can you believe we are halfway through this challenge already!!. Lany36…. Don’t feel alone…. my commitment to no sugar for the month has been derailed by the half gallon of ice cream that was bought on Sunday for my SIL retirement. It’s like once it’s there I just have to keep at it till it’s all gone… sugar is such a hard drug to quit!
BUT… I am leaving that behind me and going forward from today with renewed confidence that I can make it to the end of this challenge with no sweets!!!
Off to work now… have a good day all!

    Sunny London Day 15!

FD for me today. Out at an impromptu dinner last night so had a fish pie which, was mainly fish and very little potato. I had done HIIT yesterday morning so hopefully that will have helped. Having a few almonds as a snack (140 caloriess) a small protein pot for lunch (122 calories) and a home made prawn stir fry for dinner with mainly pak choi, red pepper, fresh chilli and some almond milk.

Weigh in for me tomorrow. Not hopeful after 2 nights out his week but, having said that all my exercising is paying off as my clothes are getting bigger 🙂

Ciren2 just saw it is your birthday today. Have a lovely time x 🙂

Sunshine Coast Aus Day 15: NFD: Still in limbo but had lovely Bolognaise sauce on zucchini noodles for dinner tonight. Yum. But had a couple of glasses of wine. As I wrote a couple of weeks ago, I need to want to lose weight more than overeating. There’s always a choice. Just got to make the right one.
Thanks for those kind words HollyLJ and Lael. Will keep them in mind when I do my FD tomorrow. They used to be so easy.

Surrey UK Day 15…..Sorry about the hiatus, we have continuing connectivity issues. I hope it is sorted now. Still very much on board….having a fast day today, weigh in tomorrow. Haven’t had a chance to read through all the posts, but am dying to do so! May we all make good decisions…I find I have to be really in the present moment to choose, otherwise habit takes over. Good eating and good luck to us all!

Day 15 NJ USA FD. Seem to be in a yoyo phase – did well first 11 days. . . Now it’s up 2 down 2. Must stop
weighing in every day – definitely plays with your head.
looking forward to my FD. I know I have to stop sugar and carbs – they keep sneaking in and get to walking. Unfortunately I am one of those instant gratification people I really feel like I’m working at this but not getting the results I expected. I have to do sit down re-evaluate and understand it took many years to put it on and it’s not all going to come off in a month. This is the time when I usually give up on diets but thanks to your postsI’m right there with you – I feel like I have
good friends pushing me along thank you so much for your posts I read them faithfully. Have a strong day .everyone.

    Atlanta, Ga/USA/ Day 15/FD:

I am excited about today. I think I’ve finally got this thing down! I’m drinking my rocket fuel this morning and not really feeling any hunger.

    Day 15 Sussex. U.K.
    NFD today.
I agree with you – itsmyturn- about the yo yo phase and how the motivation seems to slip.
This is about the time that I give up. Three months. It’s not that I don’t like what I am eating it’s just that I seem to miss the things that are not good for me. Chocolate in particular and fruit and bread. I even made some flatbread with chickpea flour yesterday. Wasn’t blown away by it. Lol.
The good thing is this forum because it does help to know how you are all managing. Especially the nfds.
Also the reiteration that it took years to get like this and it is going to take at least a year for me to lose the extra 40 lbs I am dragging around. OMG I wouldn’t choose to carry a 40 lb backpack around with me everyday if I could help it.
Also isn’t it strange that previous fasts have felt easy but this week I am struggling just to stay within my tdee. I know I am not alone here.
Well rant over and its only 2.30. So good luck everyone today.
By the way, where do you find the wristbands reminding you to be strong?
On another note there is a book called ‘Eating less’. The author also has a website. She talks about will power being a muscle which needs to be exercised everyday until a habit forms. Desperately trying to do my exercises today.

    US, Day 15, NFD..

FD went well…except for the handful of yogurt covered raisins. I had a lovely dinner of tomatoes, spaghetti squash and some Beemster gouda.

Patti67, I make delicious savory pancakes with chickpea flour. 1/4 c. flour, 1/4 c. cottage cheese, 1/4 c. and one egg. Salt and pepper. I use olive oil for cooking but you could use any oil including coconut. I top with red pepper/eggplant spread or just them plain. My niece makes them for her 3 year old and tops them with natural peanut butter.

Today’s breakfast was an avocado mashed up with a tomato. Dinner will be shrimp baked with tomatoes and feta cheese. Are you all getting a tomato theme? Getting all I can until they turn to mush. Here in the Northeast, tomatoes turn to pulp in the winter. I don’t touch them again until late spring. A good thing I love Brussels sprouts!
