  • Have anyone been on a fasting diet for type 2 diabetes

    Hi Mathew

I have Type 2 diabetes, controlled by diet and exercise. At my starting weight of 83kg, I was a little concerned because my fasting blood sugars in the morning were often in the 7-8 mmol/L (126-144 mg/dL) range. Too high.

Since starting the 5:2 diet 105 days ago,and keeping up daily walking exercise, and having lost 13kg, my fasting blood sugars are now between 4 and 6 mmol/L (72 and 108 mg/dL.) Quite often my BGL readings two hours after a meal are under 6 mmol/L and almost always under 8 (unless it was a big carb load.) I am looking forward to seeing what my HbA1c reading is when I have a blood test in a few weeks. I am much happier with my sugar levels now.
