  • Hello all
just a quick post – I am on my 6th fast day and feeling hungry – so thought I would join up here in an aid to resisting food!
I am a 40+ working mum with 2 kids and a husband. I have a very long journey ahead of me – I haven’t worked out the target – it will be too big a number to contemplate – much more than 50 lbs. I know this will take a long time on this diet – and I figure this diet is probably for life – with maybe one day in the future doing 1 fast day per week – but its a very long way off.
Its hard to see at this stage if its working the scales fluctuate far too much – but I am trying not to worry about it and that seems to be backed up by what I have read.
I have struggled with weight all my life and I have given up on diets as in the end I am heavier – so fingers crossed with this one.

Hello Klgraham and welcome to the forums!

well done on your sixth fast so far!! wishing you all the best on 5.2, am sure you’ll see results 🙂

    keep us posted x

Hi, new to this too on 2nd week of 5:2 and just completing my 4th fast day today, have found today a good one so far usually have no breakfast a small 150 cal lunch a 90 cal fruit snack then a 250 cal tea with everything used up by 6pm tried only having fruit snack and a bigger tea tonight so will see if that keeps me fuller til bedtime. Am in very similar position as you 40+, mum of 3 and husband to cook for working 3 days a week. I have not been fasting on work days as i need breakfast and my packed lunch by 1ish. Wouldn’t like to work out how many lb’s I need to loose but it would be more than 50! Am using M&S low cal meals as main meal until i’m confident of not going over allowance still cooking normal meals for family and not missing out yet! Think i’ve lost 6lb so far and my clothes definitely feel looser in that space between boobs and tum! Have just booked a family holiday for July so something to keep me focused for. Good luck fasters

Welcome to the forum, klgraham, wishing you all the best for your journey. I am sure that the more you do the fast diet, the easier it will be!

Welcome also to Didi03 – I also use M&S low calorie meals for fast days but today I’ve got home made spaghetti bolognese but with Slim Noodles rather than normal pasta. Good to hear your clothes are looser – enjoy seeing the pounds melt off you!

PS Hello Angie – fancy seeing you here!

Thank you all. Just completed my first month. 4.6lb lost, so I am on track.not measured myself as yet-really must do that!
Fasting ok, some days easier than others. My last fast day seemed really easy, but I expect I to vary. For a main meal smoked haddock from sainsburys that can be done in the microwave easy and tasty. Plus a rather large quantity of lettuce!

I too just finished my third week and I am only down 1.4, this seems low to me. I don’t know if I am doing something wrong. I have been eating 7am and again at 7pm for a total of 500 cal on fast days and doing it two days a week.
I have just started reading the forum and I am thinking I might start eating 500 at dinner or at lunch instead of splitting. I have not be exercising and I have not be calorie counting on feast days.
I am open to thoughts and advice. Thanks in advance!

Don’t worry yet about the weight. Mine fluctuates daily.. I just record my weight once a week. If I fasted on the Wednesday I record the weight on a Friday. I find weight loss is slow, but after reading on this site I felt better, 1 pound a week is not much. Plus down is better than up.
I eat my 500 calories in 3 small meals starting at midday, then 5 PM and a small snack at 9pm. Not the most recommended route but works for me so far.
