  • Hello!
I have just started 5:2 this week and am on my 2nd fast day, and all has been going well so far!
The hardest thing I’ve found so far is doing it on my own, even though my boyfriend is coming around to the idea (at first he thought it was madness ha!)
I would love to share my experience with others and hopefully get some advice/tips from those of you who have been doing the 5:2 a long time!

My goal is to lose around 30lbs by sept/oct, as Im going to Australia and definately want to feel beach ready (for the first time ever!) and will hopefully stay on track 🙂

Hi JayEss91, welcome to 5:2. Just ask if you have questions, everyone’s pretty friendly on here and we’re all in the same boat, some of us have just been here a bit longer and got the art of rowing down 😉

BTW – 30lb in 4-5 months is a LOT. Some people do drop that much in that short a time but they’re usually starting out VERY big and it’s just the first drop in the ocean (the 1st 30lb was certainly that for me). If you’re actually only 30lb over your ideal weight to start with you may find that a challenging target.

    Hi Jay

Welcome! I do 5:2 on my own but find that cooking and having the same evening meal as my husband helps feel like am not doing it alone. I save all my calories for dinner so we can enjoy it together. I realise I am lucky in that he is not a fussy eater (like some partners can be) and he enjoys trying new things and the healthy recipes I cook – not everyone has the same support. Sometimes I give him rice on the side but otherwise we have same dinner.

It took me around 6-7 months to lose 20lbs but then I gained a bit during a recent holiday! I still have fair bit more to go and I’d be happy if it took til my holiday next Spring to get to goal or even close!

    Thanks for your replies!
I realise 30lbs is a lot, but its only an estimate, as long as I get to a shape I’m comfortable with I’ll be happy!
I lost 1lb this week, so it’s a start and compared to other diets I’ve tried (and quickly lost interest in) this seems to be something I can hopefully stick out and get some positive results!
