  • Hello. The name’s Jessie, and I have to admit, I’m pretty intimidated by starting this as of tomorrow morning. It’s 11:30pm here so no point doing anything now, haha.

I don’t exactly consider myself overweight, but I would like to lose a bit of weight, roughly a stone and a half at most, just to get back to my happy weight and size.

Most diets don’t really work for me because I am a very fussy eater and there’s a lot I don’t like despite trying so many different foods, and most of what I do eat isn’t the healthiest. So to find a diet like this makes me feel a little better that maybe I can find a diet for me, so wish me luck. 🙂

Hi Jessie, hope things are going ok for you?

I did my first fast last Monday and it was ok. I found this forum good to read as a distraction from my hunger pangs! The second fast on Thursday was tougher but, again, this forum was a help in ensuring I made it through the day.

    Good luck.

Jessie, my husband, Peter, and I are starting with our first fast today. Been out to buy sample paint pots for the spare room, that should occupy me for a while!

    Started today…..

I am so looking forward to doing this.
We attended a birthday party over the weekend and after watching the video I have decided to address my weight problem. I knew it was there but was just putting it off.
Up until last September I was in the gym 5 days a week. Then doing 25km on my mountain bike. Since October and the dark nights I have not been doing anything, I still feel pretty fit but have notices bulges in certain parts.

I am not telling anyone else I am doing this incase I fall off the wagon:)

I’ve chosen my Fast days as Tuesday and Thursday as those will be the easiest days for me to do the 500 calorie days 🙂 My boyfriend is doing this, too, as we both want to lose a bit of weight.

Thanks for the responses, guys, I’m glad I can come here and talk to people about it, so I’m not alone in doing this.

Good luck with things, let’s keep positive and make it happen!

Hi Jessie, as far as food goes on my fast days I just keep it simple but after watching the Horizon programme “What’s the Right Diet for You?” I am going to cut out the bread which means no more soup or beans/eggs on toast and ready meals with pasta and see if I can shift the “Christmas pounds”.

I don’t know if you saw the programmes but the group on 5:2 were told to eat fish, meat, eggs and veg (no carbs) so I will be having salads ( I know it’s winter but it’s not that bad)or omlettes on my fast days. Some might say that’s pretty boring but it’s only 2 days and if it works it’s worth a try.

    Good Luck, Linda

Just found this website and will be starting tomorrow with a fast day. Decided my fast days will be Tuesdays and Fridays. I may change that next week to Mondays and Fridays, thereby bookending the weekend. I need to lose about 5 stone. Good luck everyone! xx

Hi there,I have just started the fast day today and am struggling! I had no idea that 500 calories is barely anything! lol.
I have approx 150 calories left until tomorrow.Any ideas folks?

My wife and I watched the Horizon programs online recently and were very impressed. We bought the FastDiet and Fast Exercise books. I have just finished reading the books and am ready to go!! This is my first day on the diet – a fast day. I have picked Mondays and Thursdays. For me, a new week starts on a Monday and I really need to kick the week off to a good start. So Monday fast days work for me!! Good Luck to all those also starting today.

Hi Maddie, I’m on a fast day today and have had soup as I thought the volume of liquid would help fill me up. I just made one with onion, lentils, tinned tomatoes and some seasoning (I used curry powder, celery salt & pepper), and water. Doesn’t sound that exciting, but it actually tasted quite nice. My version came in at over 150 calories but you could tweak it.

Another one, if you’ve got the ingredients to hand, is courgette, a handful of frozen peas, and cumin powder (I also use a stock cube and sometimes chopped onions). Don’t know the calories as I haven’t done that one on this diet yet, but don’t think it would be too many.

I’ve got 200 calories left today, and am going to have a couple of boiled eggs later, with enough left over for a 40-cal hot chocolate before bed.

I’m sure there will be some other 150 calorie ideas posted soon.

I’m new to diet today and started fast today I’m planning on doing this Monday and Thursday I found today so far easy just had tea and I am going to watch soaps and then have early night. Planned something nice for breakfast so it get me through rest evening looking forward to a nice breakfast x

    Hi All!

I started 5-2 on January 2nd. I am not exactly a newbie but I have been reading these forums almost every day because I find it super inspirational and gives me great ideas and support. I have written in once or 2 with a question or comment, but not really done any sort of formal intro. While I don’t have a massive amount of weight to lose, I do want to get back down to my fighting weight of 126 lbs. The reason I say fighting, is that I tend to go up and down between 5 and 10 pounds and it’s so frusterating! I really want 5-2 to work, and to become my WOL. as of yesterday, I weighed like 136.4 lbs. I was happy because I have lost about 4 and 1/2 or 5 pounds. Although, according to the scale yesterday, I didn’t lose anything but I know things flucuate a bit. However, last night was the superbowl in the US. We went to a party and I ate tons of bad things! This morning I weighed myself and was 141! how is this possible? totally freaked me out! I was so upset thinking all I have done over the last month wasn’t real! today I am fasting all day! won’t eat until tonight when I will only have protein and vegetables…fingers crossed it was a flukey water retention episode because of all the salt I had. Has this happened to anyone else? if so, please share…

    Hi
Nice to hear how everyone is doing
    I’m planning Mondays and Wednesdays
First day was today…..gotta say, found it q tough. …but onwards. …..can’t wait for breakfast tomorrow!
Then do it all again the day after

First fasting day tomorrow. Going to be tough, mother’s making yorkshire puddings and mash and then home made pizza in the afternoon, made on those long breadsticks from stores. First challenge, what better way than to just get into it? 🙂 If it’s going to be challenging, then bring it on, I’m determined to do this and stick to it.
