  • Hi my name is Pete – new to the 5:2 regime but starting with a positive outlook.
I started the year at approximately 160Kg and need to reach 125Kg by the end of the year so that I am eligible for desperately needed hip replacement.
In brief I had weight problems as a child – lost weight as a normal young adult, put weight on progressively as I got older to the point where I have had one hip resurfaced 10 years ago and now desperate to be pain free from my other hip.

I am sure my story resembles that of many a prospective weight loss participant – having adopted many weight loss strategies and to no surprise to most none being successful in the long term.
I feel I have been somewhat trapped in a triangle of depression – chronic joint pain – morbid obesity.
I am hoping to receive a Cortisone injection in my hip next month (May) which will hopefully help to break the downhill spiral that has been my existence for the past few years.
Like many I am sure the existence of how we approach/manage our mental health issues play a major role
in our ultimate success over the long term adoption of a new lifestyle.
In summary I am looking forward with a very positive attitude to being part of the 5:2 life style and the general improvement in my health and wellbeing.

    Hi Pete and welcome:

    Here are some tips: http://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/warnings-to-newbies/

Focus first on doing your 2 diet days a week at or under 600 cal. The rest usually falls into place.

It really does work if you give it a chance.

    Good Luck!
