  • Hi All,

Just wondering, I know there must be a logical answer but I am buggered if I can see it. I know it’s only been 10 days and trust me, I was as happy as anybody after the first week. Had lost 4 kilos and thought this is the best thing I’ve ever come across. But now, ever since, I have put it all back on and more. I just don’t know how it has happened. I fast on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s, and I am lucky if a reach 500 calories. The rest of the week, I am lucky if i reach 1800 calories. It just doesn’t make sense to me. But, the weight is coming back on and I am feeling heavy again (after being so happy with the feeling of being that little bit lighter).

I have a long way to go . I am here for the long haul as I need to lose a lot of weight (60+ kilos). I just need some advice or help from someone in the know. As stupid as this sounds, should I be eating more to build up my calories? I have been logging my food on the Myfitnesspal App and my movement via the Health App on an iPhone. All that seems to be going well.

Cheers in advance for any help.

    Hi Moshies and welcome:

The average weight loss on 5:2 over time is about a pound a week. Your initial loss was mostly water weight, which can be highly variable depending on the foods you eat. I believe you should focus on doing your two diet days correctly each week (5/600 cal or less) and try to eat to your TDEE or less on the other five. There is no such thing as ‘starvation mode’ (see FAQ above), so eating more is not a way to lose weight faster. Here are some tips: https://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/the-basics-for-newbies-your-questions-answered/

    Good Luck!
