Saturday will be my first test . Our eldest granddaughter just turned 25 and is having a BBQ . Believe it or not but in my 72 years I have never been to a BBQ . I am really looking forward to it AND I will be careful .

I like going to the events for the food , and the people:)
I try not to eat very much of the starchy comfort foods that are starchy. And typically if I try to esstimate the calories is pretty low if eating meats and vegetables without the breads and potatoes.
Last fastest tomorrow . Was so sleepy today I slept the whole time from off work till time to go back. Ileast I didn’t over eat anything. While I was asleep.
Muja ha haw haa
I try my evil laugh but I believe you have to have an evil heart for it .
My fasts are over for the month.
Weigh in. 212lbs
Was hoping for better numbers, but I’m still pleased. Bet if I didn’t step on scale so often it would be even happier about it.
I’m reading about aerobic and anaerobic exercise. Seems only anaerobic exercise can can actually burn fat instantaneously vs aerobic that is just just counting calories .
Sprints being. One of the doable exercises for me.
Oat bran with cherries, blueberries , and a prune.
Beans for lunch.
And fish dinners for my restriction days meals.
I’m still planning to observe my 4/3 lifestyle.
Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays I plan to have a 600 calorie restriction on those days.
It keeps it simple for me , because those are the days I fast also. So I keep the routine even when not fasting.
I believe I can stick to the B2B Friday, Saturday fasting once an month and have the other 3 weekends free.
Have a wonderful time !
Evening all . Well!! was at my first BBQ ever and it was brilliant . I made it an eating day but they had steak so I had that and a side salad . Can you see my halo lol? so it worked out I have had 3 fasting days this week and I am feeling so good . Got some lovely compliments on my appearance too :). You are all doing so well and that is keeping me going sooo thank you all . Really tired no so off to bed with a big smile on my face 🙂

I find moving fast days to fit events very doable. I mean yea , the weight loss seems to take a year or longer. But I haven’t felt like I was dieting all that time. Four days a week eating normal. Istarted counting calories on my feed days , because that’s what seems to drag out the weight loss. However I needed to learn to count my carbs especially for when I get to my goal. I don’t want being able count carbs difficult and then slip back into blank check eating till full every time .
Another bowl of oat bran with antioxidant fruits. And strong roasted dandelion root tea. Measured to 400 calories. Will weigh in on Saturday’s to make sure I’m keeping off what I lost. So if I need to restart again I’ll know.
Sounds like loads of fun, Jojo! You inspire me to get more involved in community events!
I slept in today as well, needed it after a long week away from home with entirely too much driving. 5 more days of this, then I am off until Sept. 2, except for all the correcting and grade reporting paperwork!
Weemam and SAMM, great job on the continued weight loss and temptation-avoidance! I think I will stay off the scale for the next few weeks while my schedule gets back to “normal.”
It seems you and I are always off track at the same time, Jojo! My schedule of teaching, preparing, and traveling has been killing me lately. Stress, lack of routine, and being away from home is not a good combination for me. Not to mention the weekend family beach parties. The good part is that I am done on Thursday! It is somewhat disheartening when yiu can be so good for so long, as you start to feel that you really have it all down, but then you get thrown off track. Constant vigilance is necessary!
Good morning everyone .
I weighed in yesterday 14 lbs less . I ended up having 3 fast days . When went to the BBQ I was using it as an eating day , They had steak and salad and I stuck with that so 3 fasts . I eat more this week on my eating days too . At first I was eating a lot less calories than I should have been but My fitness pal has been great and helping me calculate the best things .
I am feeling so good within myself and my RA is not horrendous now . I can bear it and that too is brilliant . I am loving this WOL and I am sure I can keep it going without any problems .
sorry I am not about more but I am kept busy with My son My hubby and my Dad who all need care . Thank you again for all the tips and encouragement .

Jojo I am tired just reading about all the things you are doing:). I am pleased though that you are having fun, We should all do something we love to do .taking a video is a brilliant idea to show the grand-kids . I have so much fun going back 20 years or so and seeing the fun we all had then. Our eldest granddaughter is 25 now and I delight in embarrassing her with the old videos ( she loves it)
I love to drive which is just as well as with 3 disabled in the family (plus myself )I am always driving someone somewhere .
It is wet and quite miserable here today so I am just catching up with wee jobs about the house .
Have a good day everyone

I know what mean, or at least I think ido about non stop eating. When I abandoned “If” after 8 months of losing 33 lbs. I was back into an eati g mode that was unplanned . I wa so delighted to get back on the IF lifestyle after a break. #1 because the feed days were filled with great food and good friends. Family meals were no longer mundane. However it took some long hard pondering on how to completely change as a menu writer and shopper and meal preparer.
I aim for 2lbs ,but I’m happy with 1lb
I plan a doable 4:3 ,but will accept 5:2 ad long a I’m not eating just to get a good fillin.
I shop on line, and keep foods that are simple simple simple, mostly frozen, microwavable to thaw.
Then it’s the probiotics and antioxidants, and supplements that fill in the spaces ,where I used to just eat a bag of chips. I used to fear my kitchen on fasting days, now I just completely avoid it all together. I use my kitchen fo feed days. And I love it again .
I moved away from my garden, but there’s always the market. I try to think global, but shop local.so not to use fossil fuels to transport healthy foods. At least when my farmers are harvesting, and the greenhouses are still selling!
The second biggest difference is fish. I keep saying it , but damn itsso easy. I badinage ally started eating fish instead of hamburgers ,not exactly a fat loss food ,but is a heAlthfood , non the less.n
Hello everyone hope you are well. I’ve had a challenging week -far too much socialising and eating out! It was my birthday so I had a good excuse. I have however lost more weight, my total is now 10lb in 1 month and I’m thrilled.
There are a few surprises on this diet – fast days are not as bad as I would have thought, the waves of hunger are managable and I view them possitively – I’m not ravenous the day after a fast, my whole attitude to food has shifted and control is the new experience. I am however aware that it is early days for me and the honeymoon period is not over. I find this forum very inspiring and the support and tips invaluable.
Best wishes to all:)
Hi SAMM
I do feel for you SAMM; you seem to be beset with an unduly large set of extremely distressing issues. No-one in their right mind would sit in judgement about you getting ‘out of it all’ by drinking to forget or ‘blot out’.
In the posts I see and read in the ‘recent posts’ list (I don’t read this thread); you contribute hugely to this thread with all the detailed research you do.
I don’t have any magic wand I can wave to make you feel any better about all the trauma in your life; other than some people who don’t even ‘know’ you actually care about you and your welfare….
Do you have your ‘own’ thread on this forum; where we can communicate separately?
Take care
Booxx
(Actually, just had a thought SAMM; perhaps if you read this whilst still a bit ‘squiffy’ – then I would suggest, in a way that is thinking of you; you postpone responding until you are fully compis mentis)
SAMM I hope you are feeling a wee bit stronger today Pal . xx
Jojo good luck for the weigh in . The spoons sound like great fun .
I am loving this WOL but I find it really hard to eat all the calories I need to . I never thought I would say that lol . I am using My fitness pal and that is great . I never have breakfast as when I eat I always have to run to the loo (IBS).
So when I eat at night I eat a lot but not as much as I am supposed to . I try to keep it as low carb as I can too . I feel so good in myself and my RA especially in my knees is so much better .
I am not going to beat myself up about the calories and Try to add a wee bit more when I can . I have always been a very greedy person and love that I am satisfied with a lot less now 🙂 . I will just keep on going on and be happy with this HAPPY WOL .
Onwards and downwards all.

SAMM, sending you strength and positive energy! One more demon for you to beat, but you can do it!
Jojo, I wish you all the luck on the scales! I am staying away for the time being until I have a few days of being on track. Like you, the past few weeks have been extremely busy, away from home and off my usual routine. Poor excuses, I know, but it is what it is. Back home now, and ready to get back to eating and exercising the way I now love!
Weemam, if you are feeling good and losing weight doing what you’re doing, I wouldn’t worry about the calorie count very much. If you feel the need to add more, a tablespoon of nut butter (I’m thinking whole nuts might aggravate IBS?) or some rich dark chocolate are high calorie but low bulk treats.
Spending the morning planning meals and food shopping for the next couple of weeks. Tonight I am going to see Jaws with my brother. I took him to see the movie when he was 7 years old and it scared the day lights out of him. Not only would he not go swimming, but he was afraid to flush the toilet for 2 years!!
Have a great weekend, all.
Replied before reading all…
Yes, Jojo, quickly gained and quickly lost! You are right about now having the good habits of water, low cal fruits, and exercise. Those are what will make maintenance a breeze once we are at goal. Good for you for wearing that smaller size!!
Use those spoons to keep the beat, not to eat!!
Jojo great news about getting into a smaller size . I am sure you will loose the weight you put on very quickly . You are so active I get tired just reading what you do .. I wish I still had that energy lol .
ply have fun at Jaws . I was laughing at what you said about your brother . Our middle son is 49 today and when he was little our eldest told him ,If you flush the toilet it comes off the floor and chases you . I think he ran a mile after flushing for years lol .
I have just came home from another lovely day out with my Dad . I think you all know he is 96 and has Alzheimers . He sings all the time he is a treat to be with .
have a good day all of you .
Wee xx
Was at doctor office yesterday.
Good news I’m fine, but I’ve only lost 49lbs not 62 like my scale at home Indicates.
Thanks for the support , I’ll beat it again. Its not really been my worst habit, it’s more of a weakness for it.
Somewhere in my mind I thought what could a six pack really do? And I made a friend that probably wouldnt have if not for the drinking. I let him see me struggling with it , and that we can still be friends when I quit drinking. I mean I work all night long sometimes for 12-14 hours if I want a beer. I want a beer. The problem is I can’t seem to stop , I just keep drinking till it’s all gone no matter how inebriated I get.
I’m back too planning for this months fat attack weeks.
No beer!
Blueberries, red beans, broccoli , red sweet peppers, dark chocolate, coffee. Oat bran on feed day mornings.
I like to make the menus from scratch. Then go back and compare with past successful 4:3 week menus.
I’m going to be HEAVY on low glycemic index vegetables and no grains.
Adding sprints for exercise as my neck is still a pain in the neck when try to jump rope, but sprints are good anaerobic exercise to gain experience on for my feed day exercise.
Good afternoon Ply ,SAMM, Jojo and everyone else .
SAMM so pleased to see you back with us pal . My weakness is ICE CREAM . Hubby can buy ice cream ,sweets etc and just have the one but I have to finish them . They keep calling to me ” eat me” so as Jojo says we are all fighting some kind of daemon . I am pleased you are back in the swing as they say.
Jojo your daughter must take her sports after you . I used to love cycling but can’t do that now with the RA . I keep pretty active though with looking after everyone and driving them where they need to be .
Yesterday I had the best fast ever and I feel so good today . Hubby and I have hoovered ,Steamed floors .cleaned bathroom and kitchen and I am going to polish the furniture . OHH!! and I went over to Ross house and cut his hair . ( 5 minute drive) . I am loving this WOL and thank you for all the support .

I want to thank precocious boo boo to for offering her words of encouragement and supportaswell.
Theressome things I’ve learned since starting.
There are differences in foods , very subtle.
There’s health food that doesn’t help lose weight.
There’s fat loss food that doesn’t guard against cancer.
And there’s cancer fighting foods . If I were to point to which of those to eat on fast days it would be health food.
Then a mix of cancer fighters and fat loss foods on feed days.
The rule I read about was try to put one cancer fighting food Into each meal. And by the end of a year you’ll have tried to avoid or fight cancer over 1,000 times.
I’m also reading about when to exercise. Looks liketheresadifference. Between cardio and anaerobic exercise. It may be best to eat after exercise rather than before . However walking moderately has no difference if not at a fast enough pace to start sweating. Sorry for not referencing it. Butto eat 1-2 hours after exercise, to get the thermic boost to metabolism.
Hi Tartan lass,
I thought I’d briefly catch up with you on this thread to thank you for your measured and reasonable response to the shenannigans (if that’s how you spell it) on the LOACA thread where I appear to have blotted my copybook and as a result feel it’s better to cease posting there.
It’s not like me to “jump ship”, as you put it, but I thought it wise to get out while the going was good. I’ve a lot of time for Scots and their no-nonsense approach as well as their kindness, both of which you seem to have in no small measure. One of my closest friends is Scottish and she is not only beautiful but wise beyond her years and was overwhelmed by the helpfulness of a bunch of Glaswegians when I was up there on a research project.
Whoops! sorry, I seem to have started this message twice. Must be my bedtime!
Good morning everyone ( evening to the southerners). Fast day number 9 can’t believe it … The past month has flown. My husband woke me at 5am leaving for a long drive to work today, I was less than impressed and growled at him as I lay there thinking I’m already hungry how will I last out the day?? But as I’ve learned the hunger doesn’t build it comes and goes which is manageable. I will admit to a drop of skimmed milk in my coffee I just can’t cope without it. Will hold off to late lunch 200 cal and have some lovely soup for later. I tried this pattern first couple of days and it seems to be ok for me. Not working so will hit the shops later for a little retail therapy. I’m feeling hopeful so don’t want to buy clothes at the moment- ii’ll be happy to get back into some in the ‘slightly slimmer’ section of my wardrobe.
Hermajitomomi – I’m glad you’ve had a good experience of Glaswegians. I’m originally from the west coast of Scotland but I studied in Glasgow and I love it and it’s people. We were lucky to attend a few events at the commonwealth games recently one of the highlights was the rugby sevens. We were at the early stages where there were some mismatched ‘david and Goliath’ type games. The crowd was fantastic and gave some of the players the night of their lives – when Uganda managed to score one try against the mighty Australia the roof nearly came off!!
Best wishes to all- stay strong!!
