  • I’ve been out shopping, returned home, checked my receipt and I’ve been charged Β£8.40 for something that cost Β£2.60 because the assistant couldn’t tell the difference between broad beans and mange tout despite me referring to them as broad beans. I paid with cash so I now have to make a special journey to get a refund!

I’m planning to go to Kew this afternoon. Maybe I’ll make a detour on the way there for my refund.

    πŸ™ πŸ™‚

Thanks Amazon, I asked Mr Google, never heard of mange tout before! Now I know they are snow peas.. Isn’t it frustrating when shop assistants are so careless, big inconvenience for you to go back.

Just watched TV doco with Joanna Lumley travelling in Mongolia – credits says it was made in 2015 but she looks 20 yrs younger! Did they ‘age’ her in Ab Fab or has she had her face stretched? She looks fantastic!

I am feeling challenged by fasting strictly whilst away from home. Home Thursday so I think I will relax and enjoy, then fast well Thurs and Friday. Skipping breakfast and light lunches will have helped I am sure. And these days a ‘splash out’ is vastly more modest when I think back to previous holidays.

    Amazon,

Thanks for letting me go to my own party!

    RT,

How about if I promise not to talk…?

    Nama,

Sounds like you’ve got the right approach, skip a few meals, make some sensible choices, remember portion control, and you’ll be fine!

    I got my refund πŸ˜›
No walk though as it got so dark I thought it was going to rain so I came home. It stayed dry so I went outside and weeded the garden path and the patio, something I’ve been putting off as it is such a fiddly and messy job.

I’ve just had my FD dinner of the last home made shepherds pie with green veg and I’m feeling very pleased with myself. I didn’t feel hungry at all today until I came in from the garden.
I’ve planned a menu for the next two weeks which should help keep me on the straight and narrow. I’m going to decline any invitations to go out for tea and cake or lunch or dinner. If I can get two good weeks of fasting and eating carefully done I’ll be very pleased.

Nama, that is the thing about this WOL, any overindulgence can be remedied with an extra FD or two.

Happy, I thought it a little unfair that RT was trying to ban you from your own party on account of your age πŸ˜‰

A fasting friends getaway sounds fabulous!

I am laying low today with a bad tummy, so unplanned liquid-only for me.

Enjoy the sun, rain, snow, and whatever other weather you might be experiencing!

Hi ply, sorry to hear you are poorly. I hope you feel better soon.

    Hi Everyone,
Happy Now- I will be 60 in 13 years. Maybe I will go in 14 with you. I have to plan it during June or July. I think that would be so much fun.
Amazon, you keep a food journal, I am impressed.
Nicky, I love to ski and play in the snow. For the last three years.. the drought .. has made our slopes empty.. our poor ski resort( which is only 50 minutes away) has not been able to open but a few short weeks. Enjoy the fresh air!!!!
Ply I was thinking about you today. You planned that party and made food for it while fasting. Today is a fast day and I have to stay out of the kitchen and store. When I see food or prepare it, I want to eat it. How do you do it? And by the way it 98 degrees here. But most importantly I hope you feel better.
    Have a wonderful day.

So sorry to hear you are unwell, Ply. I hope it is only fleeting.

I agree with Happy, Nama. Skipping meals and wise portion control (especially eschewing the carbs) is the way to go when travelling. Save the actual fasting for when you are actually doing the driving /flying or get home. πŸ˜‰

Good work on your day Amazon. It’s amazing how productive you can be on a fast day, isn’t it?

    Happy days. P

    Hi Sarah,

We’ll just have to have a year of 60th birthday celebrations then! I’m happy to do the fasting retreat a bit before my 60th, if you don’t mind waiting a bit past yours?

    Hi Ply,

I hope you feel better soon. You really are fasting for the health benefits today!

Hi everyone, have found a slightly more permanent wifi spot to check in.

Just returned from the toboggan slope with Mr F and grandson – we had nearly 2 hours of fun and really good exercise climbing back up the hill after each ride, not like those wimpy downhill skiers who are dragged up on the lift. πŸ˜‰ Home and hot coffee called loudly when it started snowing heavily.

Unfortunately we are all at various stages of colds so haven’t felt really energetic until today. Hope to get in some x-country skiing tomorrow before beginning the homeward trek on Friday.

Can’t possibly comment on all the posts but those on liquid only fasts have my extreme admiration. I definitely subscribe to the idea that the only limitation on what we can achieve is in our own minds – a view applicable to all areas of life. However, my 20/4 days are enough for weight loss, although nowhere near the rate of you β€˜hard-core’ losers.

I’m just so pleased to have found a way of life that not only arrested what seemed to have been the inexorable weight gain over recent years, but actually reversed it without having to undertake extreme measures which, for me, are not sustainable.

Thanks for all your posts. Take care and keep up the good work. n xxx
    .

Hi ply. I hope you are feeling better today? Happy I think you have now undertaken a major role planning and escorting a large group of fasting pals at various ages to a wonderful fasting retreat in Europe in about 14 years time!! . It’s a big job but you have stepped up to it well, I await the travel itinerary πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚
Hi Nicky lovely to think of you frolicking in the snow. One of the great things about these boards is how diverse all our environments are weather wise.
I am eating normally today but have friends staying which meant it would be impossible to fast the days I wanted to. I think I have found friends staying much harder than any other situation yet encountered. I have travelled and fasted, holidayed and fasted and worked a long day and fasted. But friends staying is hard. I am a loving cook so make food to share with pleasure. I also like drinking together and relaxing generally with my friends. So it’s hard. Yesterday evening I heard my best friend and her partner who have been staying unexpectedly have to leave early. So sad for me as I don’t get to see her in person much, and I always feel rather bereft when she goes. But, this had an unexpected upside as I can now fast tomorrow. So actually feeling quite pleased, oh dear ! Life with fastening changes a person πŸ™‚

Good morning all! Thanks for the well wishes. Still not quite up to par, but not a major thing. Unfortunately feeling bloated, and the scales are showing it! Headed out to get my hair cut this morning. Going for a pretty drastic change to short hair!

We are headed to Chicago on Friday to visit my niece, Fiona, who had a liver transplant back on March 1. Some of you probably remember my mentioning it here. They have been living in the PICU since then, with every complication you can imagine. The child who got the other part of the same liver was home within 10 days! Thankfully, things have finally taken a turn for the better in the last few days, and Fiona is getting back to her charming 7-year-old self. We can’t wait to see her and offer some respite to her parents. It should be reasonably easy to fast while there, and we will do lots of walking around the city between hospital visits.

Sounds like a fun trip, Nicky! I am not ready to think about winter yet! The last “snow farm,” the giant fields of stored snow from last winter just finished melting yesterday, halfway through the summer!

    Have a great day, all!

    Hi all

Ply, glad you are on the mend, and good to hear that your niece is finally making progress. I’m sure that she and her parent will be thrilled to see you.

The gym was really hard work this morning for some reason. Everything was a struggle but I wasn’t going to give in and did everything I had planned.
Before I went I baked some muffins, my healthy version which have no sugar, lots of healthy ingredients and about a third of the calories of those huge sickly sweet heavy things on sale in coffee shops everywhere. They also taste much better πŸ˜› I’m having a couple for my brunch for a change from granola. The remainder are stashed in the freezer.

    Have a good one everybody.

    Hi everyone,

Glad you feel a bit better Ply, hopefully your haircut will make you feel new again. You are being brave, I hope you like your new style. Still, if not, it will soon grow again! How wonderful that your niece is finally improving.

Great to hear from you too Nicky. Are you driving home or flying? Long way from Dinner Plain to Adelaide!

Amazon I would love to know what you put into your muffins. Such a coincidence reading about them. We stopped for a coffee on the road this morning and I decided to let myself have a treat and also have a muffin! Exactly as you said, sickly sweet and heavy and I did not enjoy it at all! So thats one more thing to cross off my list of ‘occasional treats’ thank goodness, what a revelation! I still like baked goodies, but am becoming much more discerning – bought ones are usually far less enjoyable, so I really only need to avoid home baked ones (unless healthy like yours!) I am looking forward to a proper fast tomorrow now we are home again.

Tessy you are so right, fasting does really change us!

Nama, I decided I wanted to make muffins and I bought a little paperback recipe book. The muffins were nice but they were all too sweet and some were too oily. I tried cutting the oil and they were too dry so I continued to experiment until I found a basic recipe that worked and that could be varied according to what I fancied and what was in the cupboard.

My basic recipe is for 12 muffins

    280g plain flour
    60g porage oats
    1tsp baking powder
    1/2tsp baking soda
60g sugar or 4-5tblsps honey or equivalent of stevia
    small pot of natural yoghurt
    1 egg
    30-45ml oil (2-3tblsps)
    1 ripe banana, mashed
    1tsp vanilla extract

I add 60g of chopped nuts and the same of dried fruit, anything you like chopped apricots, figs or dates, sultanas, dried cherries, whatever
I sometimes add 30g seeds or substitute 60g of flour for cocoa powder or use choc chips instead of fruit.
I’ve also used fresh blueberries and raspberries.
If I have bananas and they are overripe I freeze them whole and unpeeled and use them for muffins or banana cake.

Mix dry ingredients together. In another bowl mix wet ingredients then add to dry and mix until just blended. Don’t overmix it. it should be dropping comsistency so if it looks a bit dry add a splash of water or milk.
Spoon into muffin cases/tin and bake.
I have a fan assisted oven. I bake them on the top shelf at 190Β°C for 22mins.

They are best eaten on the day of baking and they freeze well.

I used to bake every week and take stuff to work for my hardworking staff which precented me from eating too many muffins or too much cake, but since I’ve stopped work I rarely bake. I am very impressed with myself for eating only two muffins and freezing the rest. Of course such things are a rare treat now especially as they contain a lot of flour.

Am I in trouble now for posting a muffin recipe……….

Those sound good, Amazon, and your halo is shining brightly, per usual!

I love to bake as well, and my latest outlet is sending my creations to work with my husband. His staff works so hard and rarely gets appreciation. He does not eat sweets except at breakfast, and I don’t want to eat them, so it’s a perfect plan!

Sarah, for some reason when I am doing the cooking and baking, especially for a party, I rarely eat what I make. Tasting, for sure, but it must be something about being in work mode rather than eating mode.

The haircut is pretty drastic, and will take some getting used to!

Tessa, sorry your visit was cut short, but it is nice to get back to our regular routines! Good luck with getting back on the fasting wagon.

    Ply,

the question is, do you like the haircut?
If it hasn’t been short for a long time it’ll take you a while to recognise yourself in the mirror, especially as there is so much less of you too!

I am working hard to keep on the straight and narrow this week and am planning on 4:3 or maybe 3:4 with B2B at the weekend. I’ll see how I feel on Sunday. I’m going to a tennis tournament and when I went to one last month I fasted on one day, taking hummus with cucumber and carrot sticks and as I was so involved in the matches I watched it was easy.
Next week I’m going to try a fast on a gym day. I’ve bought a couple of sachets of protein powder so I’m going to have one when I get home and see if I can cope until dinner. It would be great if I can fast on gym days as it will give me more flexibility on other days when I want to go out.
I want to get to goal by the end of September at the latest with no more setbacks so I’m determined to try everything to achieve it.

At this moment, I can’t say that I do, Amazon! It’s about an inch or two shorter in the front than I wanted, but I know I will get used to it. Honestly, I have kept it long for years because my husband likes it that way, but I felt like a change.

My hairdresser never takes any notice of what I say and cuts my hair as he pleases and while the style stays basically the same it is always a bit different. Fortunately he is very good at it and I’m always happy. When I went last week I met up with a friend afterwards and she remarked on how short my hair was. I touched the back of it and said no it’s the same. It wasn’t until I went to the ladies that I looked in the mirror to discover he had cut the front an inch shorter than usual πŸ˜† When I arrived for my appointment he was locked out of the salon so started late and I was in a rush due to meeting my friend and didn’t even look to see what he had done! It looks really nice and it is great to have it a bit shorter in the hot weather πŸ˜›

Your short haircut will be easy travelling Ply. So pleased Fiona is now making significant progress. X
I agree Amazon. The hairdresser asked me how I wanted my haircut last week. I basically said “Whatever, as long as it’s symmetrical”. No matter what I say, they just cut it! After all, it grows back πŸ˜†
I also eat a bit and freeze when I cook, but my freezer is filling up! I made a low sugar, wholmeal cinnamon cake the other night. Served warm with blueberries and creme fraiche, it was a lovely, rare treat. With homemade you can control the ingredients and the portion sizes. I too used to share my baking with work colleagues and family. Now everyone is dieting!
Thursday fast day here. Miso soup as a warm up about 3, I think. πŸ˜‰
    Happy travelling Nama and Nicky.
    Cheers P

    Hi All,

Amazon thanks so much for the muffin recipe, I will definitely try them soon. The freezer is a great friend, but I have been known to eat frozen cake in my past life! Muffins are great when I really feel like something ‘cakey’ but easier to control than a whole cake in the house! Thanks for the effort of typing it out. Your confidence in your hairdresser is great, I trust mine in the colour dept and he just does what he feels like there, but I have to watch him with the cutting or he gets carried away!

Ply I think all men prefer long hair on women but there comes a time when we need to please ourselves! I usually pin my hair up when doing any chores at home and it annoys me if its too short as it wont stay up. Cant stand it round my face if bending in the garden or it the weather is hot. I dont think my husband likes my new specs though, he now calls me “professor”. They are round and tortoiseshell and quite big, so much more obvious than the rimless I have worn for years, but I love them. Maybe we all have more confidence (to please ourselves) with our new slimmer shapes?

I am off for a swim, have missed my usual pool. I am going to attempt B2B Thurs/Fri as I want to undo my recent flings (there was an apple scroll also involved as well as the muffin), not sure if I can manage it but going to try….

Hi Purple! Almost missed you popping in there! We are home already thanks, late last night. Great to be home always isn’t it? Oh dear, your wholemeal cinnamon cake sounds yum!…. better keep busy today!

Apple scrolls and muffins! Great trip Nama!
I’m with Ply on the cooking. I can cook all day on a fastday. I somehow think I’ve eaten and, because I cooked cakes commercially years ago, I never lick the bowl or spoon πŸ˜‰
Nama, one good fast and mindful eating tomorrow will work. You know that by now. πŸ˜‰ The new glasses sound very modern! The ‘old men’ just don’t get trends, do they? Enjoy your swim and fast. P

    Hi Everyone,
Ok Happy so I can put it on my vision board, which year are we planning for the vacation(holiday).
Also Ply, I can actually remember one time I made fruit kabobs for a school function and did not put anything in my mouth. Maybe I should go work in a food kitchen, that way I would get out of the habit of tasting everything I cook and server before it gets to the table. This is a habit I have worked on before. Fasting helps because I am not in the kitchen looking or preparing food. PVE and Ply I guess it is a mindset. Something I need to get through. Or I just know myself and avoid all food. Yet some fast days I will go get coffee at the coffee shop and buying food never crosses my mind. Furthermore, I can not have any type of sugar chocolate in the house in any form or it will be all gone by morning. Hopefully as I get older, it will get easier.
Nama I will eat anything frozen too! Confidence is building.. I am at goal weight and my next goal is to be comfortable and confident in what I want to wear, look, and do.

Yesterday I had a good all liquid day for 36 hours. So I did a lot of cooking today and taste tested as I went.:) I froze several prepared meal.

I am getting my hair cut on Tuesday. I love my hairstylist she does a good job. Maybe I should go for a new look?

    Good night you all.

Well I have to admit to being a terrible picker while preparing good, a bad habit that I’m now aware of thanks to 5:2!

I love raw cake mix (better than cooked!), I suspect because Mum always let us have the empty bowl as kids. I’m also partial to raw pastry.

And I have to agree, freezing cake does not guarantee it’s safety! It just slows down consumption…

Thank God for intermittent fasting eh?!

Talking of food (or not!), Wiwi’s doing the FMD again this week? I’ll be interested to hear how she’s got on second time round, and her perception of effects on weight/ health.

And I wonder how jojo’s getting on? She should be two liquid fasts down by now (and desperate for the third one to be over too!).

    Have a good day/night all!

    Morning/evening all

The muffins defrost in seconds in the microwave and taste fab warm πŸ˜†

It’s Thursday so it must be a FD πŸ˜‰ I’m going for a liquid fast and if I’m too hungry I have veg curry in the freezer that can be ready in minutes.

I love baking and eating the product far too much to give it up and am so pleased that I now have more control over how much I eat at a time. If I make a cake I can have one slice and leave the rest albeit by giving myself a good talking to, something that was impossible before.
Like Purple, I enjoy tweaking recipes to make them healthier but without losing any of the flavour.

Time to find something to do

    Have a good one everybody.

    Hi all,

Cooking husband’s dinner on a fast day is not my favourite job, so I am distracting myself chatting to you!

Amazon, go for it, you can do it (liquid fast)! I am almost through mine and am convinced, although hard, its still easier than eating just 500 cals.

I enjoyed my swim this morning then shopped for staples on the way home, not even milk in the house. I find the biggest temptations at the shops are the various smells that waft past from various food shops! I am not even a donut fan, but the smell of them is torture when hungry. Very pleased to report I can now swim further without stopping to gasp for air, progress is slow but steady!

Have a lovely day all you in the Nthn Hemisphere. I am planning an early night myself!

I shopped for staples yesterday Nama. None in Kmart, but found them in Coles πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜†
Too cold for a long fast. I made 22 hours then a light dinner. As a maintaner, I find 2 days a week of this sort of eating keeps me on track. I totally agree that once you eat it’s very hard to stop, especially in the late afternoon. A long fast and a fast dinner sits well with me. Very easy to maintain for the long term. All the best with whichever way you choose. P

I had to collect a prescription and tske it to the pharmacy and while I was waiting I went to the supermarket for a few things. The smell of bread and croissants was very inviting and then I remembered that it is a fast day and walked past. The other thing is the rotisserie chicken, I never buy it but it smells divine and reminds me of a holiday in Adelaide when my friens children were small. We went to the beach late one afternoon and sat on the beach with G&Ts and chicken and fries πŸ˜†

Hello all, I’m just new to fasting 5:2 and I’m excited to see results. I’ve been counting the weeks until Christmas and realised I could reach 10 stone by then even if I only lost one pound each week. I have not seen that on the scales for at least 20 years! Seems like a vibrant community here – look forward to getting to know you.

    Welcome Iona,

Have you read the fast diet book? If you haven’t I recommend you do so as it contains a lot of useful information.

Good luck with the fasting and let us know how you are getting on. There is a lot of support and advice to be had from the members of this forum as there is a mix of newcomers, experienced fasters and maintainers from across the globe.

Ah! Food memories Amazon! Now, back to that fast! πŸ˜‰
Welcome Iona All the best. You can do it πŸ™‚
I’m off to bed early. Feed day tomorrow. P

Welcome Iona, as Amazon says read the book as there is a lot of good tips, guides and factual information.

Hi everyone sorry for not posting these pasr few days but have been reading everything.

Just completing my second fast for this week, finding it easy to get back into the swing so far but not quite ready for the liquid FD just yet. Will let you know results for this past week in the morning.

Quite sore/tender from todays physio so taking extra pain medication tonight, have been almost medication free in between days just mainly taking so I can sleep at night.

It was under 3 degrees this morning and had a warning from my car to take extra care as the road might be icy. I really am disliking this wintery cold snap and hope it passes away sooner rather than later. Like Nicky some of our friends are at the snow at Mt Hotham and having a ball with one of the girls from work going there for the weekend tomorrow with her family.

Signing off for the night now but will keep reading any posts that might get added πŸ™‚

Thanks for the welcome. A friend lent me her copy of the book a few years ago but I didn’t try it at the time. I have now ordered my own copy so will be more informed when I get it.

Welcome Lona, and everyone else lurking around this forum.

You are going to love it here. Have you read our last 100 posts? There are few good resources you can read about.
Happy- I read your post of cake in the freezer is not safe. I am glad I am not the only one, but in the future I am going to be like Amazon… and have portion control, and like Ply who can bake without sticking her finger in her mouth. I am inspired.
Nama- I am happy that you are building endurance for swimming.
AO- I dislike the cold too! Since it is summer and my husband is out of town, I am sleeping outside in the yard in my tent and sleeping bag, I was quite toasty for the low was 65 degrees. This is a happy spot for me, and on cold winter days I am visualizing my self in my tent where it is peaceful and a perfect temperature.
Ply- safe journeys and a joyful reunion with your niece and family. I love my nieces to pieces.

    Have a good day you-all

Well great results from 2 full on FD’s (both when having physio) and eating 19:5 every day and 1.2kg down from last week. Haven’t been measuring as it’s a bit impossible as I can’t “reach” with my left arm very much yet still so will have to wait for that surprise. This means I’m still up from before my accident but getting back down where I was and then some more πŸ˜€ but only 900g (or approx 2 lb) to go :).

I’m quite happy with this as a new beginning as with all the medication I was on and needing to have some food in my stomach before taking most of them I’ve not done too badly to restrict the calories as I’ve not even been able to walk very far and that was very slowly too as was too unsure of losing my balance. Plus once I was off the very extreme medications I returned to 18:6 but must admit that that window included many times a bowl of icecream with sometimes chocolate topping (each time I thought of you Wee πŸ˜€ ) now there’s no more icecream in the house and won’t be for the foreseeable future.

Have to run … hope all are doing well and still being “losers” or “keepers” if you’ve achieved your goals and are keeping the same πŸ˜€

Welcome back on the wagon AO!
FYI, I’ve done 2 proper fasts this week, plus moderate eating, and have not lost any weight. I didn’t need to, but I just thought those not at maintenance yet need to understand we don’t always drop in weight. The Fasting is still good for you.
When taking medications, surely a tablespoon of natural yohgurt should be enough to line the stomach? When they say “Eat with it”, I doubt they mean a full 3 course meal, just a little something?
Sydney is surrounded by snow this morning. Major roads blocked and wild wind and rain due in the city. This really IS winter! The weather was milder in Canada and Alaska (albeit, it was summer πŸ˜‰ )
Have a happy Friday/ Thursday night folk. P

Hiya purple and AO and all the rest of you lovely people . Sorry I have been AWoL again but still reading all of the posts .

Dad has been going out of the home but they are keeping a close eye on him but it is still a worry .

I have an appointment to have the lump checked on the 6th August . I am sure it will be fine

    ….I have been able to maintain a lot easier than I thought . I wasn’t sure I could do it . …………………………………………..

I need to ask some advice . I have been wearing dark fitting jeans , the soft kind with no zip I love them and they feel so comfortable and every time I wear them I get a compliment . That makes me love them more lol .. BUT today I bought skinny jeans I am now a comfortable 12 …I was a 24 . They are a wee bit lighter colour and zip up . They feel so so good and I will wear them with a kind of fitted longer top to the top of my thighs ( bum covered) . ANYWAY I feel so good in them and Jim thinks so too . he always says ” not really your style ” If he doesn’t think so . Do you think that is OK at 73?? Please be honest . I wear them with ballet pump style shoes.

    Wee xx

You rock those skinny jeans, Wee, and get another pair in hot pink!!

Whatever make you happy, Wee. And with Jim’s approval, you know you look okay. I used to think that jeans were inappropriate after a certain age – well, I know better now! I live in them. Our perceptions of what is suitable have gone out the window, we live in wonderful times πŸ™‚ 24 to 12 – it’s a miracle!! Thinking of you about the lump – good luck there. πŸ™‚

Your weather is set to head our way, P – blasts over the weekend, and the threat of snow.

Welcome, Iona. Best of luck with this wonderful way of life. πŸ™‚

When you consider the long term health benefits of a good fasting regular routine to give us a long life and in maximum good health after the personal goal weight has been achieved the scales become secondary IMO.
Iona72 welcome aboard the fast trackers train enjoy the personal journey of a study of one and share the story of you.
Nicky massive showdown Sunday I am thinking the boys needed the emotional release last Saturday and now are ready to move forward to commit to the Walsh game plan should be a cracking match.
Nama I prefer short hair yet y-fee has kept hers long and colours it regularly but wears it up in a knot with a clip or pin thingy happy wife happy life they reckon πŸ˜† massive news in my house third son 23yo has a dinner date with a very shy timid quiet 20yo Korean girl who works at the plant better than average broken English and according to him has been Facebook stalking him so he finally accepted the friend request and has been chatting a lot I so want this experience to be genuine and special for him he has been so bitter and spiteful towards girls since he was shattered and broken the last time.

Absolutely re maintenance and weight. Stay in your “wriggle room” and fast regularly to stay healthy. Have a good (if cold) weekend. πŸ˜‰ P

    Hello all,

I am housesitting at my son’s new place waiting for a tradesman! Weird feeling. This son has finally grown up I think! (32 next week so about time). I hope your boy’s date goes well RT, it breaks your heart when they are hurt doesn’t it? Hopefully she will be like most Asian girls and very sweet! My youngest told me 10 yrs ago that he had “yellow fever” and has had several asian girlfriends. Only one had a bad temper, was known to throw things! But the current girl, whom we are hoping is the final one, is absolutely lovely. She is a buddhist and very, very calm which is perfect for our son. She seems to have the wisdom of a 90 yr old, whilst retaining the looks of a 20 yr old!! (please indulge me, I have only had brothers and sons, ever!)

Well Purple, you were right as usual. One good (liquid only) fast yesterday and the carb collateral damage has vanished! I did wake up hungry at 5.30am though!! But another new PB on scales made it worthwhile.
I can’t imagine Sydney being so cold! Keep yourself warm…

Sarah your story of sleeping out in your tent is lovely, you really are an outdoors girl! Makes you realise all the “stuff” we accumulate in our houses is not important doesn’t it?

AO well done! I think you have done incredibly well not to stack on 10 kgs with all the pain and difficulty you have had. Its great that you are back into fasting already.

Weemam I am certain Jim would tell you if the jeans did not look great! I have a neighbour just turned 80 who is tiny (like you) and looks fabulous in her jeans. I have seen her dancing at the Jamieson Jazz festival too, she is an inspiration! I think all the rules re dressing have changed a lot over the last few decades. I have just found a lovely dress for my older son’s wedding in October and its black!! It is lovely and very flattering, so I don’t care about the old rules! And I don’t care if anyone else cares! Our forebears were very stuck in their ways. I know traditions and customs have their place, but surely what we wear is not that important? My future DIL says I can come in my Pj’s if I want and she is the only one I would not want to upset on her wedding day. Long way from being a Bridezilla luckily!!

    Cheers x

RT Confucius was a wise man! (or woman?) Very funny either way. Enjoy your weekend.

I will pass these on to OH, RT, a v. good laugh there πŸ™‚

    Morning/evening all.

It’s the weekend and for me that means Davis Cup QF, GB v France. It is being played on grass in London and I have a ticket for Sunday. I’ll be glued to the TV this afternoon and tomorrow πŸ™‚

I’ve done two fasts so far this week and they have both gone well. I didn’t do liquid only yesterday as I decided of I’m doing 3:4 that is enough. I’m hoping that when I get on the scales on Monday I’ve lost some weight as I’ve not done so since the beginning of May and am keen to get it moving again.

    Great jokes RT πŸ˜†

Well done AO, you’ll be reporting a new low soon and I hope I’ll be joining you.

Hi to everyone else, have a great weekend πŸ˜›

Hi guys, I went to bed feeling quite hungry after two consecutive days of fasting but was very surprised to wake up this morning not hungry at all. I stepped on the scale and it has dropped about 3 pounds but I expect that will change over the next few days when I start eating 3 meals a day again! Had a breakfast of cereal and fruit and now I’m off to work. I’m making plans for the best days for next weeks fast days and willing my Fast Diet book to arrive.
