  • Day 16: Gloucestershire, UK: NFD
Well, the dreaded “holiday” abroad being over, I feel a lot less stressed and so I’m really hoping to put the long months of NFDs behind me very soon. I am cheered that I lost a few pounds on the full board trip. I can only say it was the full and busy days that did it.
I need to go back to basics and fast two days a week.

Day 16 – SW WA USA – FD

3rd FD of the week. Last week I did a 4:3 and am continuing FDs on M W F for a while and controlled NFDs for the other days.

@fivetwofan5252 – Wow so close! Good for you. Enjoy your holiday.

    @big_bill – What a great start!
    @Belfast Sink – you’re making good progress
@steffieagle – that’s great that you’re even below your goal. You take away the getting older excuse; as you’ve shared you’re around 70 & you’re doing it.

@redrockgirl302 – sounds like you’ll be hiking off a lot of those homemade goodies. Enjoy!

Feeling encouraged after reading all your posts! Together we are stronger!

    Day 16– Colorado USA–NFD

Worked 3 back to back 12-13 hour shifts, so I last read posts on page 21….I’m way behind! May need to just jump in right here & realize on working days, I simply won’t have time to read. Catch up here & there as possible for accountability, plus see what my global pals are up to!

Yesterday, when offered a lunch break, I looked out the OR window & it was so beautiful out, I opted to exercise instead of eating. Invigorating! Plus, turned into a surprise Fast, After work, OH took me out for Chinese dinner. Yum!

Have today off work, so catching up on errands: grocery shop, laundry, scrub bathroom, sort mail, pay bills. And then fun stuff too: walk doggy, ride bikes with OH, read posts here while walking on treadmill & then maybe squeeze in a nap! 😴 Zzzzzz.

    Day 16 Oregon USA NFD

FD turned into 800 cals. so no loss on the scales this morning. My goal today is controlled eating.

So many success stories, you are all an inspiration.

    Day 16, Guildford UK, FD

    Yesterday was a washout!

I survived until rpm today on water, first time in gym since the big fall and torn rotator cuff. Going to see if I can manage a spin class.

You guys and gals are so motivating, its great to read that peeps fall off the wagon and get back into it.

I am disappointed I don’t see results on blobby tummy and giant economy thighs. I had not realised how low my morale had become for a little while. So I get it, results can be slow and sometimes backwards.

I haven’t seen a pocket list for today.

    Happy Friday to all

    Day 16- Montreal- FD

Day 15 & 16 Akron OH, NFD. I posted on the 15th but I think the internet Grinch stole my post. Off on vacation all next week to an all inclusive in Cancun. My BMI pre-vacation is 23, & I’m at the low end of my happy weight. I plan to resume ADF when I return. I wish you all great success, keep the faith my friends.

@basyames — Internet Grinch at your place? You made me laugh! πŸ™‚ Yeah for you being at BMI 23!! Congratulations! Enjoy Cancun!!

    Day 16–ABQ–FD/CD

Well, I was doing great with yesterday’s FD until dinner time. Then I conveniently ‘forgot’ I was fasting. 1500 calories later (which included many, many chocolate covered cranberries) I inconveniently remembered. Too late. So in penance, I’m doing a FD today, Friday, which is when we do Homemade Pizza Night at home. πŸ™

If I eat a big salad and only half my normal amount of pizza I can stay below 800, which is what I’ve decided to do for FDs anyway.

    Darn.

    Day 16 NFD
    SCOTLAND

Thanks for the motivational stories and reassurance that it is different for everyone and I should stick with it.

Next FD is Tuesday and I’m planning a batch cook on Sunday to have a freezer full ready to go which I find helped me in the first 2 weeks.

Have a great weekend everyone. You are awesome.

    London NFD

Not sure when I last posted! But I’m still doing it. I’m doing B2B on a Monday and a Tuesday then a fast day on a Thursday. Weight loss has slowed down to 3/4 lbs or pound a week and I’m happy with that

However today I’ve had KFC! Haven’t had it for ages and enjoyed every single bite πŸ˜πŸŸπŸ”

Hope you are all doing better than me

Day 15 FD St. Louis USA
Day 16 NFD St. Louis USA
    Weight 136
I’m maintaining my original weight loss but haven’t lost any additional weight since I started this June challenge. I had been down about half a pound under but this morning I’m back up to 136. It’s been quite hot and I’ve been drinking a lot of water and tea which I know is good but wondering if I might be retaining fluid. Have also been hectic busy at work, AC went out one day and I was up most of the night as I had an air conditioner repair person coming out early the next morning. I had set my alarm but was afraid I wouldn’t wake up before he came so only got about 4 1/2 hours of sleep that night. I typically get 7 to 8 hours And track on my Fitbit. It said my average was 6 1/2 hours this week. I’ve read somewhere that sleep is helpful when you’re dieting are getting the proper amount. I have also found myself a bit more grumpy than usual, and also kind of jumpy . Ha? Grumpy and jumpy doesn’t sound like much fun.

@hotchoc and @schatzii I read with interest your post about weight-loss delayed weight loss and losing fat and maintaining myself. Thank you for that. I have been adding the kettle bell routine which I know is muscle building and continue to walk into yoga. I feel better and think look better in my clothes. Well I feel better except for the grumpy jumpy part.

Continue to send thoughts and prayers to those in London dealing with the horrible fire. We so much new each other’s thoughts and prayers and these terrible tragedies.

All my best to all of you. Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

    Day 16 – Cumbria UK – FD

Busy day – went for a walk with my Friday morning group – only did 7km but enjoyed the company and cup of tea afterwards!

Only drank water and tea with a dash of skimmed milk until some carrot and butternut squash soup this evening with some spinach leaves tossed in at the end. Now drinking my night time glass of Kefir before heading to bed to read my book away from the distractions of the kitchen – 322 cals for the day in total!

Hope everyone has had or is having a good Friday – “When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive, to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love.” Emperor Marcus Aurelius

    Day 16 – USA – NFD

@-Rachel-, keep at it! @ciren2, welcome back! Looks like you are getting your mojo back! @lumat, appreciated your chicken pox story….I got exposed to it 25 yrs. ago while 8+ mos. pregnant; went to a child’s b-day party….they put me and baby in isolation immediately after baby was born; no nurses wanted to take care of me because they didn’t want to “bring it home”! Was shuffled out of a freight entrance upon discharge. Unbelievable ignorance. Glad you are informed and handling it in a common-sense way. @lilymartin, I would have given up, but you are determined and I admire that! @lany36, been there, done that! @lou Belles, you go, girl! @gardenfairy, @lumat, don’t give up…it takes awhile. @m33, keep it up! That dress is calling your name! @chumi, let time heal you; don’t worry about any kind of social obligations and thanks for the congrats! @bert1802, lots of sense in your post re: chicken pox issue! Nice going on your loss, no matter how big or little! @big_bill, good for you! @safarigirl, you seem so determined, congrats! Good planning! @belfastsink, good for you! @steffieagle, wonderful to have DH with you! @redrockgirl302, have fun!!! @rainbowsmile, LOl regarding “giant economy thighs” – I can relate! Used to have “secretary spread” until I worked retail on my feet for 3.5 years; now retired and back to sitting way more than I have been; hence, my thighs are screaming. Hang in there! @basyjames, have fun on your vakay! @slogan15, 3/4 of a pound a week is nothing to sniff at…more than many are losing! Keep it up!

    Day 17/NFD/Melbourne Australia

Weight 56.8kg, below goal weight 59kg.

Loved reading all your posts. Lots of inspirational stories. I wish I had time to reply to everyone.

I’m heading off for a 10 day holiday on Wednesday but before I go I’m planning to take time to check on my NFD eating habits to ensure I’m not accidentally over eating. I keep a food diary but I guesstimate calories. This week I plan to weigh and measure everything I eat. I hate counting calories and try to use portion control. I need a reality check because I’m having trouble shifting that .8kg above my happy weight. My eating habits, no refined carbs, lots of veg, small servings of protein and healthy fats, are fine. Drinking (pocket winos) is under control. I’ve switched to red wine and never drink more than one or two small glasses. So I must be over eating on NFDs.

Having a blood test on Monday to check on cholesterol levels etc. Loved that my doctor checked twice to see I’m not on any medication (I’m 65). It’s such a positive affirmation for the changes this WOL has brought. I hope it continues. My other motivator is my wardrobe of Australian size 8 clothes.

    Have a wonderful weekend everyone.

    Day 16 NFD Glasvegas UK
It was a fast day 11 + hrs at work(not all work btw). Than my other half picked me up and asked if fancy postickers. Well hell yes I did. Though interestingly I couldnt manage whole pot sticker plate and I usually steal some more from my partners plate. And also get other things on top of potstickers. We did buy some chocolate later to be fair and went for a stroll in botanic gardens. It was green, dotted with flowers, lush, smelling sweet and very quiet. We walked a bit and than sat down on a bench talking and taking the view in until closing time. So it will be a FD tomorrow. I love flexibility of this approach to eating. Always did.
@lilymartin you gave me idea to incorporate one more excercise into my work day – wall pushups. I do 10 reps of physio I can do standing up every time I go to the bathroom. Today was pondering what extra strenght training ones I could squeeze in. So far I only do squats apart from physio ones. This will be my next one to include from Monday onwards. I ll be seeing my physio for check up and hopefully they ll be happy for me to continue weights and strenght ecxersises 😊

    Day 17 Tasmania Aus NFD

    Day 17 Shanghai China NFD
@onahealthyhigh – loving to read your positive story – helps me to maintain my commitment.

Not such a problem with sticking to FDs but probably overdoing the wine on NFDs as it is the end of school term. I have also still not found a way to fit in my Pilates on a FD as when I get home from work I start straight away on the food prep. I think I eat about half a raw cauliflower whilst I am prepping the cauliflower “rice”.

I went on-line and ordered Nanny State Brewdog beer thinking it might be a treat on a FD – I don’t crave sweet things, but I like to chill with a drink and have been going to bed early on FDs as I was just a bit bored. https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2016/jan/13/alcohol-free-beer-best-worst-taste-test-supermarket .

Anyway, wishing you all a great day. Lovely summer day in Shanghai – going to go downtown and walk by the river (with about another million people all enjoying the same thing).

    7.7kg lost since February. Yay!

Day 16, USA, Missouri Ozarks, NFD

Hello all, had a great day out with friends both yesterday and today. Better stay home and get some work done tomorrow !!!

Everything is still on track, maintaining under goal weight – exercising – drinking lots of water.

Have to read some posts now, I feel so bad that I can’t respond to each poster but I do try to read all the posts and am wishing you well, praying for those in need (and I want to send my prayers again to London for the horrible fire tragedy), sending sympathy to those suffering losses and Congrats to those celebrating. You are a very special group to me.

    Day 17 Belfast NFD
I’ve had a successful week, with controlled NFDs. Weight is down 2 lbs from the beginning of the month so I’m pleased with that, but I’m feeling a bit bloated morning.
@fatveganchickslims – what is a pot sticker plate? Sounds intriguing!
@onahealthyhigh – you are an inspiration! Enjoy your holiday.
I ordered two pairs of shorts this week – UK size 12 and they fit!
    Have a great weekend everyone.

    Day 7, UK, NFD

B2B went well. And my BMI has squeezed below 25. Still 1st 3lb to go, but like British Rail, I’m getting there πŸ˜€

    Day 17 UK NFD

178.2lbs. Not too bad after having seconds again last night. And of fried potatoes too. Although admittedly the potatoes were boiled and just added to the mushrooms onions and tomatoes after they were cooked. And I had more of the spinach and asparagus than of that. My mum misses her potatoes so I have to cook them sometimes. I didn’t mean to have any but they smelled (and tasted) so nice…

Today is my first back to back NFD since I started this journey. I worry what Bouncing Bertha (the scales have now been christened thanks to that image of the braless woman running that someone, sorry forgot who, posted) will make of it. I am looking at it as a step towards eventual maintenance. I still feel full from yesterday so I doubt that I will eat until after the volunteers and visitors leave this afternoon. The question is will the usual Saturday urge to binge on cheese still happen. I have some stilton in the fridge but it would be nice if I don’t eat all of it and have some left for another day.

I have a new rabbit arriving who is another potential partner for Jolly. She is about six years old. Her owners emigrated to Australia last year and left her with their neighbours who are now moving themselves and will have no where for her at their new home. She is territorial and bites and boxes when they try to pick her up so they don’t feel they can give her to a child so asked if she can come here. I was really pleased to say yes but I really hope she will get on with either Jolly or Magic as there isn’t actually a spare place left. We have over 90 rabbits already.

    Day 17, Newcastle UK, NFD

It’s going to be a scorcher!! Perfect weekend to visit a couple of NGS open gardens – today down in Middleton in Teesdale.

Over half way through the month and there is so much positivity in our forum right now – loads of great progress, sharing of information, lovely words of support and advice and an overall belief that this WOL really does work. @big_bill – your June goal is clearly in sight!

Enjoy your holidays @basyjames & @onahealthyhigh and ‘see you when you return’.

I wish everyone a super weekend whatever you’re doing and wherever you are and thank you for your support of each other.

    Day 17 Newcastle UK NFD.
Yesterday’s FD went out the window at tea time instead of a leafy salad with chunks of mackerel I ended up at the local chip shop having cod and chips the cod was the size of a whale 🐳 and enough chips to feed a small country for a week. I just kept on eating ice cream and jelly and 4 slices of toast with butter and marmalade. Went to bed feeling ill still feel lousy this morning. Why do we do this to ourselves?
Right back on it until the end of this challenge. It’s a beautiful day here in Newcastle 23 Celsius already.
Have a great day whatever you’re doing enjoy the sunshine if you’ve got some and stay away from BLOODY chip shops. LOL 🀣

    Day 17 – UK – NFD

Just a quick update from me – back from two week holiday and damage is 0.6kg weight gain – hopefully I can shift this and a little bit more by the end of the month once I get back into the 5:2 routine.

    Day 17, Germany, NFD

    Day 17……Florida…..not sure

Finally made it to the last day of my week! 5 hours of work then off for two days! Not necessarily sure how comfortable it will be but it will be nice not to have to go to work. The night before our a/c went out in the back of the house, easy fix, the drain just got plugged is all but when the a/c guy went and checked the a/c unit on the front side of the house it was leaking. So, no a/c in our living area, at least we still have it in our sleep quarters, not having it in the living rooms, and kitchen makes it tough cuz you can’t cook nor enjoy family time in the evening. The a/c guy had to order the part, which won’t be in until Monday!
Seems to always happen right smack dab in the middle of the hottest time of the year.

Now, with not knowing if it will be a FD or NFD, all really depends how motivated I am. If I get around and make it to Sat morning breakfast with the Sat work crew, it will be a NFD. If I laze around here and just go to work, it will be an FD. Oh the decisions, I have this morning!

It’s not that I mind going to breakfast, it’s just that I am a home body. I like everyone at work and I sure do love a good breakfast but I think I like being home more!

Fat rabbit…. 90 rabbits, wow, that got to be so much fun! I love watching our wild bunny babies in our yard. It would be hard to tear myself away from 90 of them cute lil fur balls

Steve toon……your piece of whale reminded me of this place up home in NY, that serves fish frys on Fri nights. The piece of fish is so big, the break it in half to serve it and even in half it hangs off the plate a good 3or 4 inches! And the sides are enough to feed a small army of galaxy travelers. When we’re home the family orders one, we take it home and it feeds 4 of us easily!

Well, I’ve decided to go to breakfast, so I’m off!

Surely, if everyone was Kung-fu fighting, we would not have an obesity epidemic!

    Day 17 NFD NZ
I’ve had a well controlled day for the most part.
I often crave lollies or chocolate on a Saturday night.
I’m not much of a drinker so sweets are definitely my NFD kryptonite, tonight I had the idea in my head after a well managed day of eating moderately and I managed to not give in.
I did have some dried apricots and dates, both of which are high carb and still not helping my weight but I feel proud that I didn’t give in to lollies or chocolate.
I know the damage would have been much worse with either of those and breaking the lolly habit is what I was really aiming for so I’m going to remain feeling proud of small steps in a better direction and take myself to bed.

    Day 17, Guildford UK, NFD

Did spin 1 hr and gym rehab 1 hr.

Report in later, I seem to be consistently over with the cals by 100 or so. I end up having to do an extra day fasting!

    Still, onwards and upwards

    Enjoy today, glorious weather here

Day 17 UK NFD Got back from Sicily on Friday, up around 3lbs- which I’m ok with but would like to think I can get rid of them by the end of the month – Going to ease myself back into things over the weekend – looking forward to having a couple of hours tomorrow to catch up on posts and will be going for a fast day Monday . Good start to the day with Zumba and pump classes, but it’s a scorcher here today so think a couple of drinks wil be needed

    Day 17, Northumberland UK, NFD

Still haven’t managed to shift the snacking dragon onwards, total junk fest yesterday. It’s so weird as I did fine on holiday, but since I’m back, old junk binge habits are creeping back in. Some mental adjustment needed, just not quite sure what.

Day 17 – Chicago, Illinois USA – FD
    Day 18 – NFD
Weigh in at 142 lbs! Yikes 2 pound gain!!

    Day 17, London, UK, NFD

Just back from the hotel, breakfast was controlled, well at least it contained no bread!! Lovely meal and a few drinks out last night, good portion control; the brain re-training seems to finally be “sticking”!!!

I’ve 2 days worth of posts to catch-up on this evening, looking forward to it.

Funnily enough, I wish this was a FD, but I’m off to my aunts 90th BBQ, so no such luck today!!!

Hope you’re all going well, Good luck!!!

    Day 17 – Scotland – NFD
It was not supposed to be a FD yesterday but I was so busy that I skipped breakfast, eat only 4 carrots with (quite a lot of) hummus for lunch, then soup for dinner with almost 400 gr of strawberries. Today I registered 600gr loss which means I’m 56.7. I reached my goal for the month, but actually I went for a not-to ambitious goal as the next ten days will be a continuous feast:birthday party today, Father’s Day tomorrow with daddy coming back home, lunch with my husband on Mon, dinner with friends on Tuesday, wedding on Wed and another wedding on Sun. So I’ll probably be back to 60kg by then. πŸ˜³πŸ˜‹

    Day 17 USA NFD
My FD and NFD went tops turvy over the last couple of days- Thurs was supposed to be a FD and then calzone showed up at dinner time, so yesterday as penance I had a good FD with low carbs. Today I feel so much better! Carbs are really not my best friend, and I have to keep reminding myself of that, as much as they taste great going in! Going to aim for a low carb NFD and avoid the wonderful items sold by our local baker at today’s Farmer’s market…not even going to look!

Day 17, Rocky Mountains, NFD but CD

    Hi all,

Well, all of you who know Trader Joe’s know it can be a dangerous place. Yesterday may DH and I went there for our weekly grocery shopping and they have always something to taste. Always different coffees and food. Yesterday it was Key Lime Pie. My oh my, I love 😍especially this pie. I took some lovely coffee and a bite-sized piece of pie. The pie dragon πŸ‰ woke up. I went back for seconds and had to drag myself away.
It showed me that I just cannot have one bite. It is definitely easier not to start with it in the first place. πŸ˜„πŸ˜„πŸ˜„
So I have to remember but I bet I forget about it convienently the next time!LOL πŸ˜…πŸ˜…πŸ˜…

@fatrabbit: Wow, more than 90 bunnies!!! Lots of work. Hopefully the new bunny will integrate and make friends with some of the established bunnies! πŸ‡πŸ‡πŸ‡

    Have a great weekend everyone!
    Onwards and downwards!😊⚘😊⚘😊

Day 17 Post 1 Huntingdon UK NFD

    Day 17 – USA – FD

    Day 17 – USA (Illinois) – FD

Went overboard yesterday with calories, so going to make today a very CD or FD. I made my first Long Island Iced Tea of the season and just now looked up that it could be over 400 calories by itself. Yikes! Today will be much more controlled. Scale didn’t go up, but I don’t want to be on the upward trend being on maintenance.

@redrockgirl – I am with you on Key Lime Pie. My late parents lived in Ft. Lauderdale, and every time we would visit, we would get pie for dessert at all of their area restaurants. Oh my… several different iterations of it, but all good!
@fatrabbit – whew! 90 rabbits with expected more on the way! You’re amazing.

    Onward and downward!

Day 17 NFD St. Louis USA

Good luck to all and happy weekend.

Day 17 – SW WA USA – NFD

Off to a breakfast baby shower in a few so will catch up with the rest of the posts later.

    @pippapah & @brightonbelle – nice job on your holidays

@lany36 – yes indeed, small steps in the right direction will get us to our goals.

    Day 17 – FIN – NFD

Even though yesterday’s FD started off well, it certainly didn’t end on that same note. I did fast for a good period of time and broke my fast with a nice curd (in which I had mixed various nutritious things – berry powder, ground flax seeds, a dash of honey and cocoa for taste), but I was unable to keep myself from indulging by the time it was time for dessert at my friend’s graduation party. Also, did certainly not stick to water only on the drinking side… I notice that the discomfort caused by my foot is driving me into eating way too much sweets, but I still don’t know what else I could do to distract myself from the unpleasant feelings. Today I’ve continued on that same indulgent note. Not expecting to see great numbers when I step on the scales tomorrow, but I’m going to fast for a full 16 hours before that and hope that that’s going to be of some help.

@steve-toon-taxi-driver If it’s of any consolation, my attempt at a fast day yesterday went down the drain as well. I think in order to find out why, it’s important to look back at the circumstances and try to find out what made us act the way we did. I hope you’re able to find your triggers and a good coping mechanism!

@fatrabbit Wow, 90 rabbits! That’s quite an amount.

Day 17 – Wales UK NFD
Hi @fatrabbit thanks thats encouraging to hear.

    Day 17 Oregon USA NFD
Yesterday started out well then went off the rails in the evening.

@Strawberriesandcream – Your trip to Middleton in Teesdale sounds lovely, what a great way to spend a warm afternoon. Unfortunately we are having a very wet spring/summer.

@lumat – What a fun filled schedule you have, enjoy!!

Day 17: Gloucestershire, UK: another NFD

    Day 15 USA NFD
    Day 16 USA FD
    Day 17 NFD
Will be on vacation until the 23. Will catch up on return.

Being a pocket wino with bbq

    Day 17 –ABQ–NFD

Hey guys, I think I just experienced the fabled *woosh.* On Sunday weighed 154.4 and yesterday 151. Really, Bertha? Are you sure?

It’s nice to be taking the day off to eat, though. Really nice. A few months ago the local news ran a story about a woman turning 100. They went to the assisted living place and asked her what she planned to do on her birthday.

Her answer: “I’m going to eat and eat and eat.”

    And then she said this:

“All my life I’ve been afraid to eat as much as I wanted, because of what other people would think.”

That’s for 100 years, Ladies! Why do we do this to ourselves? @redrockgirl302, so glad you let yourself enjoy a bit of key-lime pie once in a while. And to all you pocket winos, cheers!

    Day 17 – Cumbria UK – NFD

A gorgeous summer’s day here – went with OH to support him at a fell race – then went to friend’s house for tea and cakes – they have a new baby πŸ‘Ά one week old and so beautiful ❀️
Lovely end to the day sitting in their garden with other fell runners chatting and enjoying life until early evening then back home and a quick crab pasta dinner with a very nice glass of 🍷feeling good! OH and I have just realised that we were the oldest there but felt very much part of the group………..LOL

Have a lovely weekend everyone and make the most of the gorgeous weather we are experiencing at the moment – “Very little is needed to make a happy life; it is all within yourself, in your way of thinking”

    Day 17 California USA NFD

I’m back to 67.1 from 66.5 on Wednesday. I actually gained more than a pound after a 500 calorie fast on Thursday. Friday I went a little overboard, not horrible, but still… I fasted til noon today and am going to be more careful today. NFD doesn’t mean crazy eating!

@keetseel congrats on that big loss! Woohoo! What did you do to get that big woosh, chop off your leg? Lol!

@rainbowsmile I think I’ll join you in becoming a pocket wino tonight, at least one glass!

Pocket Wino list for Day 17
