Still day 14 –
@okeydokey – Happy Birthday! Sounds like you’re enjoying your vacation & keeping on plan of taking care of yourself with this WOL. You’re an inspiration.
Day 14 – USA – FD
So sorry to hear of terrible news from London again…hope none of our group or family was affected.

Ghastlty news this morning I couldnt stop thinking of people affected by the fire in London.
FD going good. I struggle with energy though. Fell asleep yesterday as soon as I sat down on my bed. These 10hr+ shifts are not helping. Im trying to listen to my body and give it what its asking for and sleep lots. I ll try to hop on scale tomorrow. I ve not done great on NFD so all I hope for is no gain.
Day 14–Albuquerque, NM–CD
Today is not a fast day but I am trying to cut back on carbs. On Monday I ate very low (under 20g) and yesterday about 30, and I slept so well last night! I’ve heard other people say they slept well on a low-carb diet. Which would be a really nice benefit since insomnia is a major problem for me right now. On the other hand, maybe I’m just tired because it’s 100 degrees outside and I’m not really eating enough.
@okeydokey – happy birthday to YOU! ♫♪♫ Hope it has been terrific!
@annemarilyn – kombucha is a beverage full of probiotics. It reports to aid in digestion and a healthy gut. So far I am just enjoying the taste of the berry version, sometimes adding 7-up or even white wine over ice. My daughter says it isn’t too hard to make if you get the ingredients, but I am happy to support the farmer who sold it to me!
Day 14, Guildford UK, FD
Turned into an over day so 800 cals not 500.

Day 15, Guildford UK, WFD (Water)
Much better day yesterday emotionally and health. On the up.
@okeydokey, happy birthday with cake and candles😉
Thank you all overseas friends for your kind thoughts re the big fire.
@m33, it will get easier as you choose to continue, the fast days can be tough although I adapted after a month and as time goes on it becomes more routine, wait until the weight loss is very visible, then it is so worth it, and the health benefits are so good.
So add me to the pocket fast day

Day 14– Colorado USA– NFD
Back home again!
Worked a 13 hour shift. Wiped out! We all keep wondering when our usual “summer surgery slump” will arrive. So far, no let up. Busy as ever. (I really enjoy having a physically demanding job. Don’t think I could return to desk/ office work.)
Before work at 4:30 AM, I rocked a wonderful run with my doggy. Then took a walk in sunshine for my lunch break. Plus the job itself, I logged over 8 miles (13 K) on my feet today. 😀👍🏼
Since I worked so late, OH ordered a pizza (which I can’t eat because of the wheat crust.) He was delighted! I picked up some sushi on my way home. Spicy tuna & spicy salmon. So good! We each ate what sounded good. And I stayed well under TDEE.
(Now back to be before alarm goes off at 4:00 AM.). I’ll catch up on posts my next day off.
Stay strong everyone!
And remember to ask yourself: “Will this get me closer to my goals?”

Day 15 FD NZ
I’ve had an unusual FD today.
I went for an hour bush run this morning, I haven’t had a good outdoor run for about two weeks due to bad weather so I wonder if that stimulated my appetite this afternoon as I was starving by 1.30pm.
I held out to 3pm then ate my planned evening meal. I have about 400kj left if I need it. I’m thinking a warm glass of milk while everyone eats dinner maybe.
Still day 14 –
Heading to bed but just caught up on posts for the day. It is interesting how you @lany36 are in late afternoon of the 15th & I’m just finishing the 14th. May you finish your day strong!
@happymargo, I love sushi but have been avoiding it lately because I like it dipped in soy sauce and all that salt pushes me up a couple pounds the next morning with water retention. I need to stop weighing myself every morning! Sushi is actually a good thing to eat. I sometimes make my own.
@okeydokey, Happy Birthday a day late on the East Coast, but just under the wire in CA! (Hope it was a good one.)
Day 15, Nortumberland UK, NFD
Much more controlled yesterday although our evening meal was ready late so I had to extend my eating window from 8 to 9 hours. But under TDEE and no late night snacking so quite happy, just not sure where I’m going to squeeze in a 2nd fast day this week. Might have to settle for controlled NFD with an 8-10 hour eating window and accept the easiest option is B2B Monday/Tuesday and go back to that next week.
Day 15, London, UK, FD (2nd of B2B)
Feeling ok this morning, yesterdays’ FD went well and today should be ok as I have a busy day at work followed by yoga, no time to think about chocolate muffins!!! Although I have been dreaming about tomorrows Thai meal!!! I’ll have to be very controlled because I think my ‘happy’ portions now are so small (normal!!) that I have to remember it IS ok to leave something other than the pattern on the plate!!!
@lynzm, glad to see you’ve re-joined the wagon and strapped yourself down!!!
@taraga, thanks for the Ramadan info, I thought it worked that way, I can’t imagine not being able to guzzle water through the day, it’s the only thing that stops the dragon roaring for food!! How do you cope with the heat where you are and dehydration?? Or is it mental strength that gets you through the daytime?
@fatrabbit, in both cases (the row and the choccy bunnies) put it behind you and look forwards, that stomach churning feeling you get from dwelling on past negatives is stress….. not good for anything including weight loss. I used to dwell on decades old crap, reliving embarrassing moments etc. until I made a conscious effort to let go, especially when I convinced myself the other person probably forgot ‘it’ about 5mins after it happened!!!!! I would suggest you ‘go hug a bunny’ but I have it on good authority, they’re vicious & bite-y, balls of fluff!!!
Good luck everyone, stay strong…………………. Dragon drowning today!!!!
Day 15 Belfast NFD
For all you UK fermenters out there, there is a great Facebook group for kombucha, kefir etc, with lots of tips, problem solving and also a map and list for people who want/can give grains. In fact I have far too many water kefir grains. They must be very happy cos they keep multiplying. Any suggestions as to what to do with them? I’ve frozen some but can’t see me using them, and I’ve still too many.

@songbirdme. I like the sound of the berry kombucha. It seems very versatile…. with wine? I’ll have that! Kombucha and sauerkraut are my next project.
Great motivating story @jisika. Well done
@at -love the Winnie the Pooh quote
@Lynz-absolutely love the list!
@okeydokey – did I miss your birthday? Many Happy Returns to you. Hope you had a wonderful day.
@yolina – I’m loving the Primal Potential link. Thank you for sharing. @m33 might this help? Also I don’t eat until I really need to. I find that once I eat it releases the hunger dragon Sometimes this is early afternoon. Have you tried an OXO drink? The saltiness seems to help.
@taraga I salute your self control! I have been following your posts with interest. When you break your fast, you seem to keep your calories very low. Is this everyday? Do you see great weight loss or do you plateau at any stage?
Sorry to ask so many questions.
I plan for some gardening today, showers permitting. Make the best of your day everyone.
Day 15: Gloucestershire, UK: CD (hopefully)!
At last, back from our 10-day Holy Land trip. Very hot and gruelling, travelling to ancient/holy sites from breakfast to dinner, with three course lunches in between!! Temps well up in the 40Cs…phew! Too much for me, but glad we did it.
Anyway, just weighed myself and dreading it, then relieved to find that, if anything, I’m 2 or 3 pounds down, hooray!
We ate very well, buffets 3X daily but lots of fish and salads to offset the cakes and ice-cream.
I haven’t had time to catch up with anything, but hope you are all well on here. xx
Day 15, belfast, FD
Can’t believe we are half way through a June. Amazing.

Day 15 – FIN – NFD
I woke up rather early, and after going through my usual morning rituals (I even included some light yoga/stretching sitting and laying down as to not strain the ankle) I found myself too hungry to resist the freshly baked bread that had found its way into the kitchen. So no FD and no b2b today despite my initial plans. I’ll have to see if I can squeeze one in tomorrow.
@at Thank you for your kind well-wishes. The sprained ankle is on the mend. Glad to read you’re doing a great job maintaining and enjoying an active lifestyle, as per usual.
@strawberriesandcream Congratulations on being so close to reaching your target only halfway through the month! Keep up the good work.
Have a pleasant day everyone.
Day 15…… Florida…..Controlled day
This morning was weigh in day, so, I’m up 4 10ths of a pound. I’m really okay with that, only because my body feels a bit off the last couple days. All the sudden, my belly looks bloated, I’ve got ole’ lady zits popping up and the bathroom and I haven’t had any close interactions. I’m not anywhere near my cycle, so not sure what’s brewing in the basement. So, taking some extra precautions for the rest of the week.
Today is going to be an 800 calorie day, along with my drops for my immune system.
Okaydokey…….. Happy Birthday! 🎁🎂🎊🎈🎉
Only three more days of work this week, so I’m off to make it two.
I’m believing all Kung-fu fighting has been suspended so prayers for the people in London and the UPS center in CA can be heard loud and clear. May their hearts and life find peace admist all the hurt.
Day15 UK NFD
@okeydokey, happy belated birthday 🎉 seems you’re having a wonderful time. I haven’t really been thinking about eating well over the past week or so. I have been religiously putting my calories into mfp and they’re quite scary. Just hoping the gardening and walking is offsetting the cakes and wine! Back home Saturday so will weigh in Sunday morning and reset next week.
Day 15, Hampshire UK, FD/CD (16:8 @ 800 cals)
Well I am really happy this week! I’ve done:
Monday – FD
Tues – CD / keto foods only / 16:8
Wed – CD / keto foods only / 16:8
Today / Thurs – FD/CD (16:8 @ 800 cals)
I weighed myself this morning to see if it had made a difference yet and it had! I am now only 2lbs off my target weight!
So I am very spurred on!
I do acknowledge that my weight loss has been incredibly slow BUT
(1) I’ve been able to eat and drink whatever I wanted 5 days per week (up until this week’s experiment!)
(2) When I look at my weight chart there is a very steady overall long-term decline in my weight
(3) Weight which is lost slowly is weight which stays OFF!
(4) 5:2 is now genuinely ingrained in my WOL
I must admit that I still do have the odd hypoglycemic attack if I go without food for 22 hours, so water fasts are defo not for me! I would have thought that these would pass now that I’m such an established 5:2-er but I’ve obviously just got rubbish blood sugar control. I am still aiming to reverse this, which is going to be a longer term project I expect.
Anyway, all good.
I am a big fermenting fan and make my own kimchi, sauerkraut and kefir (goat milk).
Re Water Kefir – I have never made water kefir – please can someone tell me what it tastes like! Also how many calories does it have please?
Thanks and good luck to all X
Day 14 and Day 15, USA, Missouri Ozarks, NFD
Hello all, didn’t get to stop by yesterday as it was very, very busy at work – but am still maintaining below goal weight.
Off for a day with friends, we are having a committee meeting/lunch at a beautiful little tearoom/antique shop in a lovely old restored home. We have reserved the “Terrace Room” which is filled with wicker tables and chairs that looks out onto the gardens and fountain. Looking forward to it, then going shopping with some of these same friends tomorrow. We actually met through our volunteer work a couple of decades ago.
Wishing all well, can you believe we are half way through another month?
Day 15 FD
Had a reasonably balanced NFD yesterday, but have been frustrated by what is feeling like a long plateau and then it dawned on me that of course I’m plateauing now, I’m taking salt tablets per doctor’s orders. So I think I need to adjust my personal expectations and just stay the course, carry on, and all that. Here’s to finding our way to health-it isn’t always easy! Adding myself to the pocketeers list.

Squeezing in another fast day in advance of a busy weekend. I’m on my 8th week of following the WOL and the weight loss is slowing down, but as all you lovely people have given me plenty of notice that it’s not all plain sailing, I am sticking with it. I’ve lost the same couple of pounds now this last couple of weeks, my weight goes down on the fast days and then comes back on again on the NFD. I know I have to be patient and they will eventually ‘depart’ from my system not just keep getting found again… I am sticking quite rigidly to my TDEE so it’s probably one of the wide steps that I am on. Have a great day everyone.

Oops looks like we are on the same step @krisnia, patience is a virtue as they say… we will get there

Day 15, Rocky Mountains, US, BSD800 cals
Hi all,
@okeydokey: Happy belated birthday! 🎂🍾🌸🌻🌺
@califdreamer: So sorry about your kitty! 😢🐈😢
I am doing fine with BSD 800 cals. But I still cannot sleep. I am taking Melatonin, L-Theanine, L-Tryptophan, Sleepytime tea and Magnesium. I watched MMs you tube video about his experiments with sleep aids and might try the prebiotics he used for a week and it did improve his sleep. It is definitely worth a try. 5 hours sleep is just not enough. 😴😪 Sleep is so important for many reasons as we all know!
Anyway, I wish everyone a good Thursday! 😊🌹😊🌺😊
Onwards and downwards! 😊
Day 15 – USA – NFD
Good FD yesterday, thank you to all the pocketeers for the comraderie. I ate a hearty brunch, about 305 calories and lots of liquids all day. Got ravenous at about 4-5pm and decided to experiment with frying a whole bag of spinach in a pan with onion salt, garlic salt, salt and pepper and 2 tblsp. cream cheese. It was a takeoff from a keto recipe for creamed spinach, but I omitted the sour cream b/c too many calories. Came in at right under 500 cals and was very satisfying. I think the fat in the cream cheese helped. @redrockgirl302, I started taking 2 magnesium citrate caplets right before bed and it helped with my cramps and sleeplessness. Someone here on the forum linked an article about leg cramps, in which you pinch under your nose above your lip with thumb and forefinger when you have a cramp – IT WORKS!!!. @okeydokey, very happy birthday! @ciren2, welcome back! @chumi, hope that ankle feels better! @fivetwofan5252, I’m exploring the whole probiotic idea because (is this TMI?) I’ve suffered from halitosis from childhood and I wonder if it is related to gut bacteria.
Day 15 – USA (Illinois) – NFD
Eating quite normally keeping pretty much to TDEE these days and happily maintaining. I wore a new exercise outfit to Silver Sneakers class yesterday and really felt skinny! Like I told my youngest (and fittest power-yoga-teacher) daughter, I am a solid US size 12. I can’t remember when I bought 12’s… maybe 20 years ago? More? So for all of the new clothes’ sake, I WILL maintain!
Plan is to see “Wonder Woman” tonight, and I will indulge on my favorite movie-theater popcorn. Likely it will take a day or two to shed the extra water weight I will gain. 🙂
@redrockgirl302 – I bought some bananas to try this recipe in case I get so I cannot sleep. I’m doing better on maintenance than I did with 2 severe FD’s a week. Having a warm weather spring has also helped me not be so cold. This is a recipe for the banana tea: https://www.organicfacts.net/health-benefits/herbs-and-spices/banana-tea.html
Day 15 FD number 6
SCOTLAND
Oh dear. 5 full fast days and net weight loss is zero. I am not happy and I am pretty close to giving up the fast today. I am tired today so I may be kind to myself and give up. Already at 700+ kcal.
Is it unusual to have no weight loss? Please tell me your positive stories. I must say motivation is low. I don’t post much but I do read everything.
Thanks so much you guys x
@hotchoc – is that 5 straight fast days, or 5 fast days into 5:2?
Yes, it’s quite normal for nothing to shift according to the scales for periods of time.
Are you taking in enough fluids as water retention can counteract any fat loss? Are you exercising more than you were as that can also drive water retention, and muscle growth will also counteract fat loss and keep weight stable.
Are other measurements changing – waist / hips / chest / neck etc – or do clothes feel looser?
