  • Day 9 USA-WA NFD
My b2b went well, even though I don’t think I could do more than that … I have a lot of respect for those of you who are able to do many days in a row! Going to do a NFD but with lots of protein and planned snacks. I have a lot of house cleaning to do today as both of our kids are coming home. They like the idea that their rooms will always be “move in ready,”‘ my husband and I like the idea that we can use their rooms for our projects, from taxes to sewing, so we have some work to do!

    Day 9 – USA (Illinois) – NFD

Maintaining, 158.8 this morning despite having a wonderful BBQ rib dinner with a friend last evening. Going to do a very CD today with fewer carbs and sugars than yesterday, although it did seem right at TDEE.

    Onward and downward, all!

Day 8 Massachusetts USA FD No, @Strawberriesandcream, I’m pretty sure America is the laughingstock of the world right now. @lumat Stay with it. I SO wish there had been a 5/2 plan when my kids were still home. Now and then I’d manage to get my weight down but mostly I was 15 pounds overweight for 20 years. I married an Italian but I’m of Scottish descent. My Dad was born in Dingwall in the Highlands.
I intend to enjoy my FD today! Last night my husband said “you need to get a belt, your pants are falling down!”

    Hello day 9? Minneapolis nfd
Passed through Portage WI on our way to here, so waved as I know one of our group live there. Two tired teddies arrived last night – no way will I catch up on posts but hope you are all doing well. Remember you don’t fail if you don’t give up, you can reset anytime and you will get to goal. It is not a race, it is no ones journey but ours, we are all individuals and we find our own path x

    Day 9 – Scotland – NFD
Still feeling tired, but better than yesterday. I managed to wait until 12.30 before having any food, so I hope I will feel less guilty while eating my pizza tonight. Lunch was two generous portions of chicken and vegetable soup and a yogurt (my son has now decided that he doesn’t like pieces of peach, so I have to eat those pots. at least he doesn’t mind other fruits!). It was very nice to see again a nice number on the scale: 57.2. Even if tomorrow it’ll go up after the pizza, the last three days have been below 58 so any increment is only temporary! 😉

@strawberriesandcream I know my limitations… a couple of drinks would turn into a bit more. Same reason I do 0 kcal on my FDs… I have no will power. So until I get to target weight, I shall forego it (or crash badly, like I did on Bank Holiday Monday).

Day 9 😃Road trip to WV US FD
Except for 1/2 of yogurt because of upset stomach after I took my vitamins this morning, no other food so far today.

Nice to be out with the family.😊

    Nieces wedding is tomorrow.😊

    ✨Have a great day all!✨

@onahealthyhigh thank you for the welcoming. Still a lot of catching up with reading the posts I missed.

Day 9 NFD St. Louis USA
    Weight 135.4 lbs. Yay!
Lunch with a friend today will watch TDEE’s

Happy weekend and best to all.

    Day 9 Oregon USA FD
Yesterday went badly, had to go into Portland and then met a girlfriend for happy hour.
Today is FD and I’m looking forward to it.

    Day 9 – Cumbria UK – FD

Lovely walk this morning with my Friday walking group – covered 6.5km/4miles -great company and a bit muddy underfoot but no rain and we even got some sunshine at times ⛅️Shame about the sore knee afterwards but I’m going to see a knee specialist physiotherapist in early July – it’s the earliest she can fit me in!!!!! Hopefully she can sort me out – the previous therapist I saw did not resolve the issue…..

Last 2 days have been busy and close or above TDEE hence doing a 3rd FD today for the week to set me up for the weekend……..

@endellion and @lumat – Hello – nice to see you back with us for the June Challenge – the daily signing in is great for accountability 😇
@schatziii – good luck with your B2B2B – you are on the last day if I’m correct – so stay strong – you have got this!
Welcome @nilufar – never too late to start this way of life (WOL) – lots of support and advice readily given on here
@snowflake56 and @debster251 – the ballet was excellent – Steven Mcrae and Akane Takada were the lead in The Dream. I always love watching Marianela Munez and Vadim Muntagirove dancing together and they did not disappoint in Symphonic Variations! Zanaida Yanowsky did her last dance as a Prima Ballerina with the ROH in the lead role in Marguerite and Armand – seemed to add that extra dimension to that tragic role!
@coda – love the new handle that was given to your OH 😃must have been so lovely to meet up with forum friends
@redrockgirl302 – I totally agree with you that 16:8 works well for maintenance when on holidays and I try to do the odd 20:4 as well so just eating an evening meal!
@lany36 – I think you are so lucky that your son can express himself to you and your OH and therefore gain your support – you are right in that this is temporary and all things pass eventually. 🤗 and I am so glad that you feel able to share and offload with us – we are your global family x
@lagrandebouffe – I don’t do B2Bs often anymore – I had a rather overindulgent week for my birthday and I just felt it was what I needed – Fasting on Monday and Tuesday certainly made me feel strong and positive and I continued fasting until around 3pm on the Wednesday as just did not feel hungry – even managed a strong yoga class (1.5hrs) that morning – love that feeling!
@debster251 – this pocket wino says enjoy the wine and your caravan trip – I enjoy my wine 3 or 4 nights a week – no guilt……LOL
@mogaman – good to hear the road trip is at an end and you can now enjoy your long break
@belfastsink – I could never spoil a good wine by turning it into a spritzer……sacrilege……LOL
@Strawberriesandcream – great to hear that you have Dad sorted out at last and especially as he can stay with relatives until he has a place of his own sorted out! what a relief for you x
@okeydokey – have a fab time at your niece’s wedding tomorrow and enjoy 🥂it will have been well earnt!

Great job by those who are getting rid of the lbs/kg or maintaining 💃

To those struggling I found these words which might offer you some encouragement
“Even if you can’t physically see the results in front of you, every single effort is changing your body from the inside. NEVER get discouraged.”

Have a lovely weekend everyone – live life to the fullest and focus on the positive 🤗

Day 9, USA, Missouri Ozarks, NFD

Maintaining below goal weight of 145.

Hello all, pretty day here. I am going to do something SO exciting I can hardly breathe ! Poison the thistles in the upper corral.. Yippee….
Nah, seriously, I so enjoy working outdoors it will be fun.

Doing great with the food/exercise/water – don’t even give it much thought anymore as it is just part of my lifestyle. Had a Greek yogurt, strawberry, blueberry, vanilla almond milk smoothie for breakfast, it was yummy.

    Wishing everybody well.

    Day 9 UK B2B

Second day today and didn’t eat till 5pm… salmon fillet and veg followed by fresh fruit. The berries are lovely just now! That’s it for the day. Looking forward to NFD tomorrow !

    Day 9, Germany, NFD

Day 9, Guildford UK, CD (1200 cals)

Struggled today may not meet 16 hrs fast target as slept, just woke and its 7 pm. My last meal should have been 4 pm. Ate a handful of cashews, marigold bouillon drink and a green tea.

My second bath of the day for relaxing my shoulder.

I did manage to watch Dr Fungs videos although I have many questions. Practically Insulin Resistance happens in the presence of fats, not sugars. I did learn quite a bit about the modern varieties of wheat though and now I have several studies to read. I feel a little down about permanently reducing my base metabolism. I have been dieting for not far off 3 years now, and I loose very slowly.

Some things are very baffling without answers. I will keep looking.

    Days 3-7 NFD
    Day 8 FD
    Day 9 NFD

Hello from ABQ–I was finally able to do a proper fast day yesterday. Went a little over 800 calories but considering how bad I’ve been this month, it was a success. My Tuesday FD went south at dinner time (2500!). I’ve had a migraine and insomnia all week and so that makes it difficult to stick to a tough diet like this one–I need that sugar rush to feel ‘better’ I guess. It’s also why I’ve been stuck at 155 since the end of May. I’m going to try to keep to two FDs a week for the rest of June, and then in July try a 3xB2B. Maybe.

    Hang in there, everyone.

    Day 9 – USA – NFD

@okeydokey & @fordprefect & @booper.dooper (if you are on board), enjoy the lovely scenery of the pastoral hills of West Virginia! @rainbowsmile, hope you feel better! @lindasue, what a great feeling to get rid of clothes and the satisfaction of knowing someone else will benefit from their use! @mogaman, hurray for your LDL results! Good for you! I beg to differ with you about what the world thinks about the USA; in my opinion, we are letting the world know that we are back to our Reagan-era status! No, I do not agree with everything our POTUS says and does, but his work ethic, his progress and his determination to restore our country far exceeds the previous administration and the world is surely watching. @basyjames, good for you!!! @belfastsink, ditto regarding needing something low cal alcoholic and good tasting…Nannystate beer, to my knownledge is not sold here in the US…I am not a wine person, but love a good robust beer. One of the snares that keeps me from losing more weight more rapidly! Is there an answer besides don’t drink it?

Day 9 – SW WA USA – FD

Going for a FD. Saving most of my calories for the evening meal with a friend; probably Mexican food.

@at – I’m sorry your knee is still acting up. Have you got a good chiropractor? I had an injury that started with improper footwear during a 2 mi. walk a year ago. One thing led to another, turned into a tracking issue with my right knee, left foot compensating as I limped & causing soft tissue damage in my left heel. I went through the wrong chiropractor, a physiotherapist (that did some good) but things flared back up. For a few months now I’ve been under the care of a wonderful chiro who deals with extremeties. He’s been able to get to the root of things and works through the body from top to bottom. I’m feeling so much better. Just a thought for you.

    @keetseel – what is ABQ?

@lindasue – I look forward to being able to say as you do: “Doing great with the food/exercise/water – don’t even give ite much thought anymore as it is part of my lifestyle.”

    Day 9, Gozo Malta, nfd

    Hi Rainbow:

I don’t know what you mean by insulin resistance ‘happens’ in the presence of fats, not sugars.

The fact is eating carbs, which are all sugars by definition, and especially eating processed carbs like sugar, pasta, bread, etc., causes insulin resistance. The heart attack on plate is not a perfectly cooked, fat rimmed steak with butter on top, it is a doughnut. Eating fats prevents insulin resistance and reverses insulin resistance over time for those suffering from it. The same is not as true for eating protein, which can help cause insulin resistance and make you feel ill to boot if you eat too much of it (over 30 to 35% of calories from protein per day over time).

Science has confirmed the low fat diet, or high carb diet, whichever way you want to say it, has been the cause of the obesity epidemic.

Don’t worry about lowering your base metabolism, If you do worry, you don’t want to be on a weight loss diet because losing weight causes your metabolism to go down. That is because the body needs fewer calories to carry itself around and pump blood throughout the excess fat (one pound of fat has about 6-7 miles of capillaries that the heart has to pump blood through).

There are no known negative side effects of a lower metabolism, so worrying about it going down is a waste of time. But, as I say, if you don’t want your metabolism to go down for some reason, don’t diet. And if you want it to speed up, gain as much weight as possible.

    Good Luck!

simcoeluv, this link will help you to understand a little more about how metabolism works: http://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/weight-loss/in-depth/metabolism/art-20046508?pg=1

Changing your base metabolism, which is largely determined by your genes is not an easy thing to do. As long as you exercise enough to build muscle (even walking is a weight bearing exercise) and don’t starve yourself for long periods of time, it shouldn’t be a worry. If dieting caused your metabolism to slow down a great deal, then after losing a lot of weight, it would be quickly regained when going back to eating normally. People regain weight after dieting if they overeat, like they were probably doing before and which caused the initial weight gain. So habits have to change to normal eating, but you don’t have to be on a restricted diet to maintain weight loss.

    Day 9 California USA NFD
Yesterday was a fasting day. I am down to 148.8 this morning, a 1.4 pound loss since June 1st and a 7 pound loss since I started the 5:2 way of eating on May 10th. I need to be mindful of what I eat on NFD and stop eating at night when reading or watching TV. I think that’s the key to losing more quickly.

    Day 9 – Portland, Oregon – NFD

Cheers to those who fast on Friday! I, for one, would have a terrible time of it. Always look forward to that Friday after work beer. 🙂 Maybe that’s why I’ve got all these lbs to drop!

    Day 9–MA, USA–FD
    Day 8–MA, USA–FD
    Day 7–MA, USA–FD

Feeling back in the groove of fasting, and feeling better about myself, too. Whenever I get off track, I need to just remind myself of how much better I feel physically and mentally when I stick to this WOL. As usual, the challenge will be staying controlled tomorrow and Sunday, which will be NFDs.

    Happy weekend, everyone!

    Day 10 FD NZ
I think I missed posting yesterday. It was planned as a FD but I changed my mind about 1.30pm.
I have an enormous glut of Feijoas to do something with so I baked for the afternoon and didn’t feel like doing that while fasting.
Today is my FD instead and I think it will make more sense, we have a busy Saturday from 12-5.30pm with sports for both kids and being busy always makes a FD easier for me.
I’m taking a leaf from @mogamans book and have decided to look forward to a FD today. I was feeling a bit ‘blah’ about it but my mental attitude towards the day will become what the day is, so I’m anticipating a restorative fast and a great day watching my kids be active and happy.
Thanks to everyone who has commented on my previous posts, I needed to release my feelings and it’s wonderful to feel the support from so many people who took the time to read my ramblings.

    Day 9 – uk 🇬🇧- NFD

Life is v busy at the mo but despite plenty of temptation yesterday’s FD went well. Today’s NFD has ended with Friday Fizz – a fantastic feeling!!! Will certainly test this WOL – appear to be maintaining May’s goal weight at the mo. Have a fab weekend everyone 😊

    Hi CalifD,

“The test results showed that the higher the fat content of the diet, the higher the blood sugar levels would be.”

Youre basing your facts on a website that says that? Really? The internet is 90% crap information and you have to be very careful about selecting fact from fiction. If you want to quote “science” then go to google scholar and look up journal articles, and even then there is a plethora or crap science out there. How do I know that? Because I publish scientific research for a living.

Do your own science. Measure your blood glucose with a blood glucose meter as used by diabetics. The meters are very cheap to buy, about $30. Eat some cheese and monitor your blood glucose every 30 minutes for about 2 hours to see what happens. Eat a sugar glazed donut and repeat the measurements. The scary thing is that the increase in blood glucose from that one donut will last 3-4 hours before the BG comes down again. What do you think your insulin levels will be during that period? Do the science for yourself. I use an Freestyle Optium Neo meter as it measures both BG and ketone bodies. There are lots of different brands available though.

Even most “official” websites that promote diet information are 30 years out of date. The UK diabetes website is actually pretty good. The Australian one is scary and still basing their advice on data that is 30 years out of date. CSIRO a government funded body is also scary out of date. So bad is it that I have been compelled to email them asking them for published journal articles to back up their “claims”. To their credit they at least replied but it was generic playlist answers, but no evidence to support their claims.

Day 10 Shanghai China – NFD

Heavy rain today. Was sunny all week when I was at work.

Am reading Jason Fung’s book – The Complete Guide to Fasting – and finding it informative and inspirational.

I am now going to search for the Brewdog beer on taobao (which is the Chinese on-line market that sells everything). I have already ordered some magnesium to take at night. So, thanks to the sharers on this list for reading, drinking and other tips. My other fave take-away from you guys is http://www.olivemagazine.com/recipes/healthy/

Wishing you all a happy weekend!

    Day 9 USA NFD

Day 10 and 11, Germany, NFD

@strawberriesandcream I’ll keep my fingers crossed and hope the property viewing today goes well.

@at I’ll have a look at the dancers on youtube

@okeydokey have fun at the wedding and on your holiday

Day 10 Newcastle UK NFD. 🇬🇧
Can’t believe we are into Day 10 already.
    Have a great day people.

    Day 10/NFD/Melbourne Australia

    Day 10 UK NFD

178lbs. 80.3kg. Whoosh overnight dropped 1.6lbs and my waist to height ratio is down to 0.45. BMI still 26.7 but getting there. Shows 800 cal fast days like yesterday really can be just as effective, when combined with the Med type diet.

I am now into my 8th month of fasting and am going to change things somewhat and see what happens. I have been quite impatient going for speed up til now but want to make this more sustainable and so will go down to just the classic two fast days a week, while still retaining my intermittent fasting window of 4 hours because I find it easier than thinking about food constantly. I am far more comfortable with an empty stomach and the health benefits of reduced inflammation and less anxiety are crucial for me to maintain. I cannot go back to feeling the way I used to feel. Food makes me feel rotten, it is as simple as that, so the less of it the better. Everything I eat needs to be worth it, to taste lovely and be packed with nutrients. This ought to at the very least maintain my weight, and at best eventually bring me to a better healthy equilibrium. So my modified goal for June is to get properly under 80kg so that I don’t bounce back over it. At this weight I fit in my clothes and can move easily, I am more interested in function than looks. I also want to improve my abdominal muscles. I can’t even do one sit up! I am very strong in many ways and can happily shift bales of hay and 20kg sacks of feed but my stomach muscles were wrecked by my pregnancies and a broken tailbone means I can’t lie on my back on a hard surface. Combined with damage to my neck from a fall from a horse as a teenager this means sit ups are impossible. So I need to find other ways of strengthening them. I think the fact that I carry myself better and paying attention to posture will gradually improve them without injury risk so maybe I should just be patient. I certainly don’t want to further damage my spine. One of my volunteers prolapsed a disk doing an exercise and is having back surgery later this month. I am really worried about her.

Bigbooty, your example of a sugar based donut to measure glucose wouldn’t be a good test because the donut contains both sugar and very likely saturated fat. Hard candy would increase my blood glucose levels for at least 2, probably 3 hours. The cheese would take more like 5 or 6 hours to see an increase because it takes longer to move through the gastrointestinal tract. We see a similar effect with diabetic patients that eat a high carb/high fat meal, like pastas with cheese or cream sauces. They use an appropriate amount of insulin to compensate for the high carbs which brings blood glucose to a normal level within a couple hours but then 5 or 6 hours later they see unexpected high blood glucose numbers after the insulin is finished working.

    Day10 UK NFD

I totally agree with @fatrabbit and @cleo120 as regards how an excess of food makes me feel now. I find also I cannot eat the size of portions I was used to and am much more mindful of what I eat even on NFD. If, after most of my adult life as a serial dieter, this continues, I wish I had discovered 5:2 years ago and saved myself many years of regrets and angst over trying to lose weight and maintain weight loss. Anyway, too early on a weekend morning for regrets and angst!! Look forward and aim downwards and enjoy the rewards this WOL brings!

Weight this morning is 63.7 kg /140 lb 6 oz which is 0.7 kg down from June 1 and almost 7 Kg /15.5 lb from mid March when I started this journey. Off on holiday in a week and trying for a good push before then and hopefully manage to maintain while away.
Good luck and a happy weekend to all my fellow 5:2 ers!

    Day 10, Newcastle UK, FD

OK. Excellent FD yesterday – thank goodness!!

@fatrabbit – Woohoo!!! I love watching your steady progress and your post this morning was just what I needed to read after the week I’ve had.

It’s great to read of so much progress and all the advice given on various subjects – although some of the ‘sciency stuff’ is flying over my head. All I know is that since I cut out the crap and embarked on a low carb, healthy fat and protein diet, I have slowly and consistently reduced in size and feel so much better. I sleep more soundly and enjoy my food so much more. I know wine and alcohol contains carbs/sugar and have worked to reduce my intake – which apart from blips like this last week and holidays – I’ve largely achieved. That old adage ‘anything in moderation’ is probably a good guideline to employ. That way we can navigate the various events in our life and still progress towards our goals.

@okeydokey – I wish you a fantastic day today at your niece’s wedding. You have worked so hard and are a great inspiration to many of us. @basyjames – you must rightfully feel very proud. @krisnia – hahaha – that made me chuckle 🙂 Glad you are ‘popping in to see us’ @coda – sounds like you’re having a ball.

Keep on keeping on folks – have a good weekend and remember – Together we are Stronger.

    Day 10 – UK – NFD

@fatrabbit – well done, very motivating to read you post today.

Hope you are all having a lovely weekend😊

    Day10 UK NFD

Just catching up on posts to keep focussed on what I eat over the next week or so. Was doing ok until last night, some friends have come down for the weekend as it’s the “boys” birthday. The boys are my hubby and his best friend who celebrate their birthdays one day apart. So it’s 57 today and tomorrow for the boys. Funnily enough the girls, of this equation also have birthdays a day apart.

So last night was a pub meal where as usual in the locals round here everything came with chips, at least I drove so only had a couple of drinks later. I had good intentions of not eating the chips but I was starving and they were too good. Tonight is out to another local pub where the food is nicer with a better choice, unfortunately it’s a taxi job so the wine will start early. Pocket winos I’m determined not to let the side down!
@okeydokey. Have a lovely day today at your nieces wedding 👰. Your whole family have worked so closely together and have been a great support to many on here. Dance, enjoy a few martinis and enjoy the food!

@fatrabbit, once again you’re losing that weight. I started here in February over 17 stones which Is where I think you roughly started, I’m down to just about 15 now and I remember your posts about being determined to get under 200 lbs which is my next big milestone. So every time it gets hard or I know I’m falling behind (see first para!) I think about your journey. You’ve got at least one person holding onto your coat tails as well as holding onto the wagon.

Enjoy the day everyone, bit dank and dismal here in Mid Wales but cottage is full with friends and sundry dogs, what’s not to like.

    Day 10, UK, NFD

So that’s an exceelent B2B behind me and it shows on the scales 😀 My BMI now down to 25.25. And below 14st (13st 12.5lb to be exact). Breakfast time and then time to wlk the dogs.

    Have a great Saturday everybody!

    Day 10, London UK, FD,

Yesterday was so busy that I didn’t break my fast until 6pm, by which time I thought I could just settle for another FD, however, evening snacking put paid to that dream and ended the day as 20:4 below TDEE but not exactly the best choices…………. Cake anybody???

I’m thinking of trying the BSD 800cals this week just to see how it compares to ADF which I find suits my lifestyle. Time to experiment I think!!!!

@mia139, @fatrabbit, overeating is all in the mind, we just got used to it and had stretched our tummys without a second thought; could you have ever imagined eating a ‘normal’ portion and being satisfied??? The 1st couple of times I ate out since starting this WOL, I ate as I used to …………………. And suffered the foggy brain, night sweats; leg cramps and ‘I really AM about to pop!!’ feeling ………………….. Lesson well and truly learnt!!! I find it difficult to leave (waste) food and the portion sizes in restaurants are enormous, but I have to put myself 1st whether I offend anyone by saying ‘NO thanks’ or don’t finish every morsel of food on offer!! As you say @mia, no time for regrets and angst – I watched the Horizon programme on 5:2 when 1st broadcast many moons ago, where would I be now, if I’d pulled my finger out then and there and actually done it?????

@okeydokey, thanks for the shout-out, felt like a hug!! Enjoy the wedding, sample the goodies if you must…… then dance the extra calories away (watch the leg!!).

@Strawberriesandcream, I could hear your sigh of relief all the way here in London…………. Well done, you’re on a roll now!!! I’m with you on the sciency stuff, I have no need to check glucose levels etc. but I do listen to my body, and slowly I’m learning what it likes and doesn’t like, which is soooo different to what my brain & my dragon like (refined carbs!!) Are you still an ‘adaptable perfectionist’ I took that on board in Feb because ‘All or Nothing’ was me to a tee!! Did you ever think you would be drinking wine in moderation? I never understood what a wine bottle stopper was for (LOL) …..…… until now!!! Honestly? I have ploughed through an entire bottle of wine since starting this WOL, after all, old habits die hard, and it was just that ……. a habit!!! The 1st glass dimmed my resolve, then it was just a slippery slope until I upturned the bottle to shake out the last few drops!!!! No more, .…. now everything in moderation, I reckon I’d keel over on more than 2 medium glasses of shiraz now; alcohol tolerance goes down just as quickly as it went up!!!!

    @bigviking ……….Way to go!!!!! You’re B2B-ing like a pro!!!!

Reading everyone’s post s today has stiffened my resolve, nothing harder than fasting at home on a lazy day!!!! I hope you’re all doing well and holding fast!!!! Onward & downward people!!!!!

    •Day 6 – CARDIFF UK – NFD
    Day 7 – CARDIFF UK – FD
    Day 8 – CARDIFF UK – NFD
    Day 9 – CARDIFF UK – FD
    Day 10 – CARDIFF UK – NFD

    Starting Weight : 154.7lbs

    Target Weight : 148.7lbs

    MIA again, sorry.

Scales are showing in the 10’s, but I know this week that I will put on again. Take away planned tonight, meal out with my girls Thursday and a tub of Ben & Jerry’s planned for Friday, balanced (well not quite) with a couple of FD. Next Saturday self indulgence ends and I need to get back in the game.

At moment it’s quite difficult as OH is off his food so the fridge is full of tempting treats – pork pies, custard slices, egg custard tarts. I’m not having a problem resisting these, but have finished off the odd bag of chips (fries) which he’s fancied then not eaten. Really hope we turn the corner soon. OH is a big guy and whilst ordinarily losing a few pounds would be a benefit, when he doesn’t eat he also doesn’t drink. He also has a low potassium level and whilst he is on medication for this, he also needs to eat to try and increase his levels.

So, planning on having a bowl of porridge in about an hour, then nothing until the takeaway tonight. Now going to do some last minute research for daughter’s SE Asia trip (emergency numbers, embassy dets etc), then off shopping with her for more sun cream, first aid supplies etc.

I love the flexibility that comes with this WOE and I’ve got confidence I can get back on the wagon. I’ve lost just under 2 stone since joining the FD forum on 17th January this year, and just under 4 stone since being diagnosed with hypothyroidism in December 2015. I’ve still got just under a stone to get me to a healthy BMI and then a bit more to get to target, but I understand my body much better now than I have ever done.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

    Day 10 Belfast NFD
Eating to a 16:8 regime but sadly pocket winos, my resolve has gone kaput. Never mind, beck on the wagon on Sunday.
@Kirsnia when my boys left home I redecorated their rooms. Now when they return home, they call them the B&B rooms (bed and breakfast), although I would have difficulty in letting them out cos they’re still full of their rubbish!
@strawberriesandcream I totally agree. What a total mess our country has become.
@at I took your advice even before I read it! Bought an extra bottle of wine just in case and it happened to open itself! Lol! Life’s too short not to celebrate the sunshine, BBQ and a wonderful view in the Glens of Antrim. I don’t think your ballet programme was screened over here but it sounds amazing.
@okeydokey enjoy the wedding. Hope you’ve e a lovely outfit to wear! Enjoy every minute!
    @fatrabbit I salute your tenacity!
@saffy420 and PashaW – great progress. Very well done.
A wet and very windy night passed and now the sun has come out. Am donning my walking boots for a big walk on the cliffs to despatch some of those calories! Have a good day everyone.

    Day 10 Tas Australia NFD

    Day 10…..Florida…..FD

It feels so nice to wake up and know I don’t have to rush around and head to work. IT feels like, I haven’t had a Sat. off in ages! I have much to do though. Our termite inspection is next week, so I have to finish going through my closet. The floor in there is a complete mess, as clothes become to big, the donation pile has spread, so we our now not seeing the actual floor except for the path in and out. The husband also suggested, that I think about reducing the number of shoes I own as well.
Hello, my name is Michelle and I am a shoe hoarder…..
Then my herbs are done trying, so I need to remove the stems and get them crushed for future use. Finally, laundry, laundry and more laundry!
Days off sure would be perfect if I didn’t have so much to do!

@strawberries and cream, thank you for updating the spread sheet for me. I’ll have all the info for you in a couple hours.

Oh, now the real reason I’m here! FD today, at home, hopefully with so much to do, I will NOT be tempted. I’m making basta zucchini for dinner, which I’m looking forward too. Yesterday, I did eat tons of junk! Chips, 2 donuts and tons of soda! But still using MFP, which seems to help more then I thought it would!

Okay well I’m off! As I’m watching a momma bunny and her babies eating out of the garden. Last year, when momma was just a youngin, we save her from drowning in our pool, nursed her back to health. Although, we released her back into the wilderness when she was strong enough. So, she now lives in our yard. Well this spring she brought her babies to show us! Cutest little things! So, I set up a little garden for them to eat out of. Our big garden, we protect, so they don’t venture into it but they are having such a nice time grazing and playing chase! It’s so fun to watch! I’m easily getting side tracked from what I must do!

How much time and practice do you think it takes to become a expert at Kung-fu fighting?

    Day 10, Germany, NFD

Akron Oh, day 10 & 11 will be nfd for me. I hope everyone has a great weekend, keep the faith and make it all awesome.
    Onward and downward buddies!!

    Day 10 – Cumbria UK – NFD

A very wet day up here in Cumbria today – set to stay all day ☂️

A very good FD yesterday – had a glass of my homemade kefir and a bowl of butternut squash and carrot soup – total of 250cals for the day! Only a glass of kefir for breakfast so far today……

@annemarilyn – I have an appointment with a very renowned sports physiotherapist who treats a lot of the fell runners and has an excellent reputation but she can’t see me until early July – I’m feeling rather hopeful that she can sort me out.
@okeydokey – hope you are having a fab time at the wedding and really savouring your 🥂
    @fatrabbit @saffy420 and @pashaw – 👏on the continuing weight loss – great job
@debster251 – you are a true ‘pocket wino” – I’m looking forward to a nice glass or two tonight with my meal
@bert1802 – looks like you have found your mojo back

I’m off to have a manicure so that will pass an easy hour but may be tempted with afternoon tea afterwards on the way home – this drizzly weather makes me feel like I need a treat😈

    CalifD,

Fair call on the glazed donut. However fat in and of itself produces a very small insulin response compared to carbohydrates and protein. Happy to be pointed to journal articles indicating otherwise. In the example you put forward Im not sure you are comparing apples with apples and are confounding two different responses. You mention that you see a delayed blood glucose response of several hours when fat is ingested. I suppose the circulation of triglycerides could see a modest increase in glucose? The ingestion of exogenous fats I find hard to believe would increase glucose and an insulin response?

You mention that you see this response in diabetic patients. Im assuming T1D? Under certain conditions this would make sense. The fat intake would slow down the absorption of glucose and if the diabetic were to have injected insulin this is typically short lived, perhaps 2-4 hours? The glucose could, because of the concomitant fat intake, take 4-5 hours to digest by which time the injected insulin would have abated just as the ingested carbs were being turned into glucose. In a normal non diabetic person I cant see why the ingestion of fats would cause a delayed glucose response?

Day 10, Rocky Mountains, US, CD

    Hi all,

Congrats to all my fellow fasters- getting rid of some pounds. 😊😊😊

BSD 800 and Mediterranean diet helped me get rid of 1.3 pounds so far since June 1st. Does not sound like much but I am almost at my goal. 2.3 pounds to my June goal. Should be doable.

    Have a great Saturday everyone!
    Onwards and downwards! 🌹🌺🌻

    Day 10 – USA (Illinois) – NFD

Maintaining under goal of 160 this morning. Still just under 25 BMI. Very happy that I can treat myself to a few things and still maintain. Wine with supper tonight, POCKET WINOS UNITE!

I have found out another retired teacher and Curves friend who I loaned my book to has lost 20 pounds! Yeah for her! A mutual friend told me, but I have not seen her yet. She seemed especially interested in “how I did it” myself.

    Onward and downward!
