  • Day 25 – πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§- FD

    Hello day 25 nfd
    Sitting at Gatwick catching up on all the posts (2 pages to go)
    @okeydokey so glad to hear from you
    Welcome to
    @belmc – note day of challenge = day of month no matter when you start x
    @fastveg and
    @carolinaski
    Good to hear from you too @primrosenz I thought we had lost you.
    Enjoyed our time in England – Woking, Guildford and Putney although didn’t see much of the areas. We had a great time catching up with friends and family. I played a few games of squash yesterday with my son and even though I hadn’t played for a good few years I thoroughly enjoyed it. Absolutely shattered afterwards and I reckon I will be very sore tomorrow. I’m going to try and play more often.

    Is there anyone wishing to volunteer to lead August challenge? Apologies if someone has offered and I’ve not got to that post yet.

    Back to reading posts x

    Day 25 – McMinnville Oregon USA FD
    I had a good CD yesterday. Today I will fast.
    Please add me to the pocket wino list, no wine until the weekend. 🍷

    @okeydokey – It’s one of the joys of getting older. πŸ˜€

    Hi. I’m trying to do a b2b because I made the mistake of going to a nice food shop yesterday and I couldn’t resist a ciabatta roll. Rookie mistake. The day went downwards from there.
    So today, just coffee, bovril drinks, a couple of apples and lots of water. It’s very good not to berate yourself for making mistakes. It’s not as if anybody is marking you out of ten.
    Good luck everybody.

    Day 25 – SW WA USA – NFD

    Back home after some great family time along with some time in nature. I especially enjoyed hiking up to Bridal Veil Falls in southern BC with my brother & his wife.

    Kept food quite controlled throughout the week so still in the bouncy place I’ve been in for a while. Working on making this last week of July count.

    @strawberriesandcream your upcoming trip sounds great! Are you road tripping?

    @CaliDream, congrats on taking care of some weight on your trip

    Day 25 UK NFD
    Day 24 UK NFD

    Day 25, Rocky Mountains, US, CD

    Second post. Difficult day today. I wasn’t hungry but I was about to give up so many times. I went out to buy some toilet paper in pound stretcher and they were selling chocolate cookies for 10p/100 gr in the clearance shelf!!!! To be eaten before the end of the month (I would have done it within 30 mins!). Anyway, I managed to resist but I Still feel weak.

    AT, we stayed in Kelso but also went to Windermere on Sat as it was raining in the morning so we decided to go to the Peter rabbit place (oh, life is so different with kids! πŸ˜‰). As I said, such a wonderful area. And I have to confess that I had a really massive steak and ale pie served with tons of chips on Sun. Strawberryandcream, at least 2000 calories! And I also managed to eat a chocolate and salted caramel tarte for dessert – but I gave most of the ice cream to my son. πŸ˜‡πŸ€”πŸ˜“

    Day 26 – Tokyo, Japan – NFD 82.4kg

    Day 26/NFD/Melbourne Australia

    Have a great day everyone.

    Day 25 – NFD

    Did a spin class this morning and nearly passed out. Probably not a good idea to do intensive exercise right after a FD, but oh well.

    Yesterday (FD) went well. Had a few treats today but kept general calories low.

    Day 26 NFD country west Australia

    Day 26 Sunshine Coast Qld Australia NFD Grandparents ‘ day at my grandsons’ school. It’s the done thing for us to donate books in the library each year. All my grandsons enjoy reading so that is a blessing. They love to show off their endeavours in the classrooms as well. I’m just waiting for it to kick off. It starts with morning tea. Haven’t caught up on posts in days. Hope all are doing well.

    Day 25 FD (2d day of b2b) St. Louis USA

    I checked in too late today to add myself to the pocket list but I was there in spirit. Went to a Thai restaurant for a lunch meeting today. It was an impromptu meeting and think I frustrated the poor waitress as it took me forever to decide what I wanted. I finally settled on a yellow curry with chicken. It was on the lunch menu, was a small portion, chicken appeared to have been baked, the sauce was light all I didn’t eat the rice. As it was the second day of my back to back, I allow myself up to 800 cal so I think it worked out just fine. It does seem simpler if I know where I’m going and can check out the menu ahead of time. I’ll be going on vacation with my daughter and her family week after next. A little anxious about that but I think planning ahead can you help relieve my anxiety.

    All my best to all of you.

    Sirisan, I would have just ordered a sensible amount of food and cancelled my fast for the day – there’s always tomorrow. Knowing that I can just opt out of a fasting day at any stage when I feel like it is important for me.

    Day 26 | Sydney Australia | FD

    Yesterday’s NFD I’m pretty sure I went well over my TDEE, so it’s back to fasting today. I have had some kind of virus hanging around for a couple of days but this morning I was running a mild fever (it’s the middle of Winter and I was seriously HOT and had to kick the blankets off). Now I feel like I’m over it, or just about.

    I have a couple of tomatoes and some ham for lunch.

    Day 26, India, NFD

    Day 26, UK, FD
    Hopefully this is day 1 of my 2nd B2B since Sunday.

    Day 26 Newcastle UK NFD.

    Day 26 – Woking, UK – FD
    245.9lbs
    It stuck! 17st 7lbs for two days in a row. Fast day today so hopefully I can consolidate this for the end of the month.

    Day 26 FD good ,controlled day yesterday so going well this week, abstaining pocketwinos I have an extra challenge tonight – going to the cinema which normally involves a G&T but tonight it’ll just be a T for me .

    Day 26, Newcastle UK, FD

    After a good solid night’s sleep, I’m feeling a lot better today and up for a good FD. Today is also the day my Dad gets the keys to his new home.

    @lumat – you were on holiday and I’d have done the same no doubt πŸ™‚ Mind I’d choose mash over chips any day with pie – helps the peas stick and soaks up all the gravy.
    @annemarilyn – no we’re not road-tripping – it’s a cruise, sailing from our local Port of Tyne. We’re very excited….
    Hope you had a lovely day and are feeling a very proud Grandma @fuvvie.

    Six days left – let’s go for it!!

    Day 27, Northumberland UK, NFD

    Just me and the kids from tea time today so probably no fast day this week as yesterday failed, but as long as I avoid another blowout that should be okay for maintenance. Yesterday stayed around TDEE despite the pie (and chocolate and biscuits that followed having woken the sugar dragon). Weight and other measurements are relatively stable, so all good.

    day 26 Cornwal UK controlled day.

    Yesterdays fast went well! The first for many months, and it felt good!

    So today I will be controlled. I have had a small avocado and will have my kefer soaked with linseeds and chia seeds (just half tsp of each) mid morning. Keeps me β€˜regular’.

    I aim to fast again tomorrow and will weigh in the morning.

    Good luck everyone, onwards and down!

    Day 26, Gozo Malta, nfd

    Yesterday I ate within my tdee just as I had bread but no butter with the salad and also some olive oil.

    Alexander is eating normally now and he is well again.

    Tomorrow I’ll weigh for the last time this month as I’ll be on holiday for thirteen days. I mean to control what I eat so I don’t put much weight.

    Have a great day everyone.

    Day 26 UK NFD

    Back where I was ten days ago. Hopefully this time it will stick.

    Day 26, Wales UK, NFD

    @brightonbelle – pub quiz night tonight and I’m with you drinking tonic without the G.
    @anna6 – after worry of family illness I hope you enjoy a wonderful holiday.

    Happy Wednesday everyone x

    Hi All day 26 FD Co Down NI

    Still not caught up so this is just a quickie to set my stall out for the day. Five full days to go make them count!

    Day 26 Belfast FD

    Yesterday’s FD turned into a CD largely due to lack of willpower, although I stayed under my TDEE. Im trying again today.
    @Strawberriesandcream – your cruise sounds amazing. St Petersburg is on my bucket list. How’s your dad’s house coming along? YS and his lovely girlfriend got their keys yesterday, so big excitement on the first step of a very grown up journey. They are so happy. It’ll be a couple of weeks till we can go down to view the house, but I can’t wait!
    Well done @califdreamer on your weight loss despite being away.
    @rocy65 – there’s something very empowering after a successful FD.
    @anna6 so glad your little grandson is on the mend.
    @coda glad you had a great time. Welcome back to the usual rain!

    I had to cut my swim short this morning due to a workman coming so I have set myself a short Pilates regime for lunchtime, which I found on YouTube. I don’t think I will lose anything this month despite my momentous dip earlier in the month. Trying very hard for the next 5 days. Slow progress is better than none.

    2nd post

    Starting a pocket list for today. So far I’ve spotted:

    @big_bill
    @bigviking
    @liathanail
    @brightonbelle
    @Strawberriesandcream
    @coda
    @debster251

    If I managed to miss anyone, sorry, feel free to add yourself to the list.
    Good luck to today’s fasters!

    Day 26 – FIN – NFD
    Day 25 – NFD
    Day 24 – FD 483 kcal
    Day 23 – NFD (59.6 kg)
    Day 22 – FD 0 kcal
    Day 21 – NFD (60.0 kg)

    A busy few days again. I went on an additional fast on Saturday after calculating a ghastly 2800 kcals for Friday – twice as much as my TDEE. I really need to get these NFDs into check. I still think that I’m eating all this sweet junk to soothe the discomfort caused by my sprained ankle (which still hasn’t mended, and it’s the seventh week after the injury – I’m starting to get a bit worried as stage 2 injuries apparently usually take 3-6 weeks to heal). It’s slowly getting better, but it’s still swollen which makes flexing it (to an angle below 90 degrees; dorsiflexion) and especially pointing the toes (plantarflexion) difficult and painful.

    @strawberriesandcream – Hahah, sorry for misunderstanding. I have to admit that the bungalow term is something I don’t have that clear of an understanding of (my mind goes to an off-grid house in some exotic location made of various pieces of wood – I guess it’s clear we don’t really use the term here?). I’m happy to hear that he got the place and is picking up the keys today. Being so close to you sounds like a very big bonus as well.
    And thank you for your kind advice again – I do my best to focus on the positive, but completely ignoring the negative is something I avoid as well, as it can easily lead to denial.

    Day 26…..Florida…..FD

    Is it me or did July just fly by?
    Short and sweet today…..FD
    Good control day yesterday!

    Do we have plans for Aug yet?

    At any given time the urge to sing a lion sleeps tonight is just a whim away, a whim away, a whim away.

    @coda are you planning to lead the August Challenge?

    Day 26, Belfast, NFD

    Had the courage to weigh myself this morning – still hovering around the 11st 13lbs – 12st mark. I know it’s the over-indulging on NFDs, especially during the holiday season… barbecues, beers etc etc πŸ˜‰
    Another FD tomorrow anyway, so we’ll see how it goes.

    Good luck everyone today!

    Day 26 – USA (IL)- NFD

    Good CD yesterday even with near 1500 calories. A friend shared some beautiful early Illinois sweet corn….sure was yummy! Had a pretty good pool workout doing a lot of cleaning, vacuuming, swimming. Silver Sneakers class is today.

    Onward and downward!

    Day 26, Emden Germany, NFD

    Day 26, FD, UK

    Cannot believe I forgot to log in til now!
    Just had a 250 calorie lunch and feeling quite full (M&S Mango salad with half a pack of sweet & smokey chicken fillets and a pack of toms…)

    Here’s the FD team sprinting to success today:

    Chicago, Illinois USA
    Day 25 – NFD
    Day 26 – NFD

    Day 26 NFD very stressful house here at the moment. Two young children to help look after, removal men in packing and having to eat take a way food. My daughter and her family are moving tomorrow. Not sure when I will be able to get back to sensible healthy eating, but I hope it will be soon. The month so far has been good, so a few days of not eating well, I hope won’t undo all my good work. Good luck to the fasters today.

    Day 26 Australia eating too much, feeling disgusted with myself and ashamed of my lack of control.

    Day 26 πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈFD
    499 calories for me on my FD Yesterday. I’ve been eating very tiny portions, also very low or no carb foods. That is the only way out of the sugar, carb, craving, migraine cycle for me. I’m definitely losing water weight I went to the Loo five times between 1:00 am and 8:00 am this morning.😊
    Because I’m planning for my family and eating tiny portions, there are many uneaten meals left in the fridge. I hate to waste food, but I like having a waist. 😊 🀣It will be a bit, but I’m determined to have a healthier waist again.
    @emma taylor I’m with you today 🀝I’m still making up for holidays taken in June and my lack of discipline in July. Holding hands we can do this. I like your plan for the day!
    @chumi My hubby read an article about medical studies that showed sugar does help bones mend. But on the other hand you are burning sugar faster than if you didn’t have a bone to mend. I have a Tibia bone just under the knee cap that is on the mend, since last year. Yesterday I did standing and then sitting and standing again, 10 times for the first time in a year without falling down😊. It’s been a slow process for me. I think I’m getting there. Looking forward to being able to take an aerobic dance class again like I used to. But I have a lot more leg bench presses to do until I will be able to get my balance back for aerobic dance class. I haven’t been doing the leg presses like I should.

    Wishing everybody well today! I’m going again also for another FD 😊 If your fasting please add your name if you can! We’ve got this! ✨

    2nd post

    @hannahwatto – Hi, we all have days like yours, its why I have a weight problem…..its usually when I get stressed about something and mindfulness goes out the window….I know that feeling of disgust all to well. Its done now so put it behind you. I’m having a FD tomorrow – will you join me?

    Day 26- Hampshire, UK – FD

    Yesterday: Day 25 – NFD

    Ok so I have been avoiding the scales because I decided that I don’t like seeing the same weigh over and over again, also avoiding posting on here because I feel ashamed that I am the only one not loosing any weight.
    I have really hit a wall because I’ve gone from eating normally on a NFD to the mentality – ‘I cant eat this tomorrow so I better have two today’…its terrible I know and I have been in denial about this for a few weeks now! thats the way I deal with my weight issues..

    I need a kick to sort it out otherwise I will not loose another kg. For me, the facing up to it is usually a start…I think I need to start fresh from next week, I go for holiday to the US for our 1 year anniversary on the 9th of September and I want to get to my goal before then which gives me a purpose.

    Well done everyone who has stuck to this in July, I feel like I wasted the month…

    @hannahwatto you are ashamed of one day? I’ve done this the whole month :S

    Day 26 Massachusetts USA NFD @xrox Do you record everything you eat? (I use a phone App called Lose It) I pre-record what I’m going to eat on a FD and, of course, it’s important to have plenty of nutrient rich/calorie poor foods in the house. The Apps will show you nutrition data etc. They have their own goal setting but I ignore that part of it as the 5/2 is my chosen WOL. Avoiding seconds is probably the #1 key to weight management, regardless of what plan you’re using. I always tell myself “Chips, Ice Cream, and Cupcakes are not leaving the planet!”

    @mogaman I did at the beginning but only on my FD, I don’t tend to eat very different foods on FD so I know my calorie intake those days.

    On NFD I don’t tend to count/record and never have, I generally eat 2-3 healthy meals – we eat a lot of veg and protein and minimal carbs in my house because my husband is committed to his weight training however my downfall are the sweets/chocolate/ice creams….I think the snacks on my NFD are whats getting me…

    I also say to myself that the cakes/sweets are not going anywhere but the devil on the other shoulder also says ‘life is too short, you are good 2/3 out of 7 days a week, an ice cream wont hurt….’

    ahh I forgot to mention, I finally decided to sit down and watch Game of Thrones, heard so much about it and wanted to know whats the big deal, my husband is a fan and with the new season coming out, I watched the first episode to see what its like and then decided I wanted to watch the first 6 seasons to catch up. Now I binge watch it every night (already past half way and I only started last week) – trouble is..snacking while sat on my bum for 3-4 hours a night..I blame that too!!!

    AND to make matters worse, we finally quit smoking after our holiday for my husband’s 30th, I’ve been smoking for 12 years, I have an e-cigarette but I think it does contribute to the cravings etc. they always say quitting smoking makes you eat more, I don’t want that to be true! so I wont use it as an excuse…

    Day 26 – SW WA USA – FD

    Going for a FD today. Too many dark chocolate covered almonds last night. I think I better keep them out of the house for a while.

    xrox – you’re not alone. I’m still sitting on a plateau of quite a while. Summer is having a lot of special added things. Somehow to keep on making better choices & the weight has got to go! We can do this!

    @fuvvie – I love the Grandparent day you describe. It sounds wonderful!

    @chumi – Sorry to hear that your injury persists. When I had a foot injury that domino-ed into others including my achilles on my other foot, I was told it could take up to a year to heal. Getting competent care is part of it too plus time. Mine reinflamed half-way through the year but I got to the right chiropractor and I’m doing so much better. Just some further strengthening needed. This chiro specializes in extremities & also has the massage therapist in the office, use cold ultrasound on the achilles while he gives me a massage – helping with the soft tissue damage. I hope you get relief soon. It does seem a lone time to stay swollen.

    β€œ5 days and counting guys…. πŸ˜€β€

    3rd post

    @xrox I sat here reading your post and nodding my head constantly. I have the same weakness, it’s not the fast days, it’s not the meals on the non fast days, it’s the snacking. The “I’m a bit bored, I’ll distract myself with something to eat” ones, the “I fancy something sweet after my meal even though I’m already full” ones, the “I’ve been really good and it’s only one biscuit/bar of chocolate/etc” ones, the “I’ll just have a little something whilst I’m watching TV” ones. The problem I have is that I can easily succumb to all of those in one day and all of a sudden I’ve had 1000 calories of snacks and busted through my TDEE.

    I also get where you are coming from on the giving up smoking. I gave up from smoking 20 Malboro Red a day and switched to NiQuitin tablets as a substitute. Outcome – I ended up on those tablets for about 4 years. Yes I wasn’t smoking, and I wasn’t substituting cigarettes with snacks, but it wasn’t a great solution. I only gave up when I was in hospital having my stem cell transplant for my cancer treatment and I couldn’t buy them.

    I wish there was an easy solution I could share right now, but I don’t think there is. I guess you have to find a way to make it really difficult for yourself to lapse. I’ve stopped buying any snack foods when we do our weekly shop so now if I want something I have to make the effort to go and buy it each time which is stopping me from relapsing quite so much on the snacking/treats front. I’m fundamentally too lazy to change out of my PJs and go to the shops once I’m settled in front of the telly.

    I know it’s not much practical help, but I wanted to let you know you are really not alone in having periods where you get into a cycle of “I know I shouldn’t/I’m going to anyway/Now I feel crap/Why do I always screw things up for myself”. I think we all do it, it’s just that not everyone is prepared to admit it.

    You already know beating yourself up about it and comparing yourself to others is just going to make you feel crap so I’m not going to lecture you. I’d rather say that I understand and I’m sending you all the virtual support I can. And I might add, I also have days/weeks where I look at other people and go “How come they can do it and I can’t?” I weigh 17 and a half stone FFS. I hear other people this size talking when they start dieting/changing their WOE and it’s falling off them, what am I doing wrong? How the hell did I let myself get this big to start with?

    I keep coming back to my favourite quote:
    “Experience is what enables me to recognise a mistake when I make it again”

    Like you said, facing up to it is the first step.
    All the best – you can do it, and deep down you know that.

    Day 26 California USA NFD

    62.9 kg or 138.8 this morning after yesterday’s fast. I need to hold this weight (or lose a little more) to achieve my goal of 63/139 for the end of July.

    @Anne6 – Happy to hear that Alexander is well again. Are all the kids over the bug now? That sounded pretty scarey for a while there.

    @debster251 – Good luck on your FD today. That’s the nice about this WOL, that we can always switch fast days around if we get a little off track. CD are still good days!

    @xrox – I have a hard time with sweets if they are in the house, so I just don’t bring them in. If other family members want them they have to live out in the freezer. (The sweets, not the family!)

    @liathanail – Wonderful words of wisdom!
