@rahul1905 to quote @rainbowsmile ‘s advice to @hannawatto “think the laws of thermodynamics would say 2.2 kilos that’s 4.5 lbs at 3500 calories per lb. Wouldn’t you know if you had eaten 15,750 cals in two days?” To gain 2 kg in a weekend requires a lot of ‘indulgence’! It is probably only water weight or food in transit. As a long term maintainer I never weigh myself after a blowout but wait a couple of days for my body to readjust. Much less dispiriting. But even when I indulge I rarely indulge on unhealthy foods. They are long gone from my diet. A couple of fasts or low calorie control days helps. Wishing you well, enjoy your week.

    Day 24 Brisbane NFD

Day 23 Really good FD 360 cal amazing for a Sunday AND the rest of the family had McDonalds Sundaes for dessert and I resisted although I did consider looking up just how many calories…but remembered it will be there tomorrow if I still want one. Went to a Pump class in the afternoon and was 66.0kg – seeing that number more often now yay!

Day 22 NFD Another day of good choices, went to the bakery before breakfast to celebrate my sons basketball team win and only had a coffee. Had a lovely fruit salad and avo and vegemite on toast after at home. Think I was sugared out from drinking scotch and lemonades at the footy the night before.

Have a great day everyone, be kind to yourselves!

    Day 24 London, FD

Nearly there – the end of July is in sight!

FD today and I’m feelin happy with progress so far. Today might be a struggle as I’m up early this morning with the kids but I’ll look forward to my smoked salmon nicoise salad tonight!

Btw, does anyone else not count calories on NFDs? It’s part of the reason I was so attracted to this “diet”/WOL because I don’t have to feel like I’m limiting myself or constantly thinking about food all the time. I don’t have huge blow outs, but I do have a glass of wine, or a takeaway occasionally and I’m finding it’s working really well so far.

    Day 24 | Sydney Australia | FD

My 11th fasting day for the month. Down 5 kilos for July thus far.

People are really starting to notice how much weight I have lost.

Yesterday I went to Cabramatta with my wife and kids. That is the Vietnamese hub of Sydney and a great place to eat inexpensive and authentic noodle soup. I had a huge bowl of that, and some white chocolate afterwards (too many carbs, also drinking a heap of “Coke no sugar” the day before, had me craving something sweet). For the evening meal I thought I’d better have something low carb to set me up for fasting so I roasted some avocados with ham and cheese (a recipe I got off a low-carb diet forum).

I’ve had some sardines (110 calories) and strawberries (80 calories) so far today.

Twinmam, I’m not counting calories. But I am being mindful of how much I’m eating on NFDs. And sometimes keeping a “running guesstimate” in my head.

    Day 24 UK NFD

Back under 25 after yesterday’s fast, but it was such a struggle not to eat something else. If there had been anything quick and appealing in the house I would have. I had already polished off the cheese the previous day. I feel very different than during those weeks when the weight came off easily. Stress and perhaps hormones have shifted something making it far more difficult. I can tell it is not going to come off at the moment just as I could tell it would at the beginning of the month. Still this is good maintenance practice. It is certainly testing my resolve.

I only ever do running guestimates. I certainly can’t be bothered with weighing what I eat or cook with to work it out exactly.

    Day 24 Newcastle UK FD.

    Day 24,FD,UK

Several not so great days have left me longing for today. This will get be back on track… Keep up the good work everyone 🙂

    Day 24, UK, FD

This won’t be a good month by normal means, so time to up my game. Doing a B2B (this is day 2).

    Day 24 UK FD 🌈

Planned a busy and successful day. Food all planned, gym after work. Have a good day all, 24th already and to make this month count I need to be strong! 👊🏻Mind over matter.

Day 24 UK FD. Last week of July going to try and buckle down – 2 FDs and controlled NFDs and at the very least start August in a good way

@matron65 – you up 2lbs too ?maybe it’s something to do with this weird Brighton weather – let’s hope it passes⚡️

    Day 24 Belfast FD

Came home to a veggie patch bursting – peas, spinach, lettuce, radish, courgettes. A veritable feast! Beetroot and onions coming on well too.
Thanks for the link @steve Toon Taxi Driver. I always keep frozen berries in my freezer. I’m going to try some of the baby beetroot leaves in my salad. Thanks for the tip!
@lindasue your plank times are inspirational. I have been lazy whilst away but you’ve inspired me to get back into the mode!
@twinmam that’s the glory of this WOL!
Finger firmly on the reset button and hoping to lose those cheeky holiday pounds.

” Life is a One Time Offer – Use it Well” – thank you for that @at

@onahealthyhigh thanks a lot for your response, it makes sense:)I am making reasonably healthy food choices too but eating out with a group is still tricky for me. Will work on it.

    Day 24 FD North Wales
Going to my daughters again so no control over meals as such, only portion size. The good thing is that there will be no wine until I get back which can only be a good thing.

@coda. I am not going to have access to scales at the end of the month. Will that be a problem? I should be able to weigh myself when I get home.

@twinmam, I too do not count calories on NFDs. I do not see this as a diet. I am trying to get healthy and hopefully lose a bit of weight as a bonus. I am however mindful these days about the volume of food I eat. One of the big things I have noticed is how quickly I become full and how much I dislike the feeling if I continue to eat, this has never happened to me before. I have always enjoyed a glass of wine and whilst I intend to cut down, I do not intend to give it up.

I am not sure how to start a Pocket List. Can someone add me to today’s list of fasters please as I will be driving for most of the day.

    Have a good day everyone

    Day 24, Wales UK, FD

I’ve been 5:2ing for a month now and feeling better for it. Clothes are more comfy and feel healthy and energetic. Hope you all have a good last week of the challenge. Hi to all my fellow fasters today – remember the lion sleeps song when hunger strikes!

    Day 24 – Woking, UK, – FD
    246.3lbs
Exactly the same weight as yesterday. Planning a good fast day today as I’d really like to end the month at 17st 7lbs. There’s just something about the half stone milestones that appeals to me.

Will be doing a cycle commute to work for the first time today. I’m fine with the cycling but a bit apprehensive about the traffic.

    Have a good day everyone!

Day 24 – Mornington Peninsula Australia – FD

@molij – I agree with you in regard to the feeling full faster. I also find that I do not think about food as much as I used to and despite a large plate of cakes in the kitchen today I just didn’t feel like it. No that is something to celebrate!

    Day 24 – FD

    2nd post

It is amazing how much my weight changes throughout the day.

    Normal weight time: 83.3kg
    After workout: 81.9kg
    5 hours later: 82.8kg

Up and down. The scale isn’t that important. What is important is that my fat deposits are shrinking.

    day 24 Cornwall uk

I’m feeling full after my weekend though I didnt think I’d over indulged! So just seeda this morning and a small avocado.

So daughter and husband home soon and my grandson will be pleased to see them! He’s been very good. I do feel it now at 69 I’m ready to go home for some R&R and to my own bed and a goods nights sleep!

I will weigh and measure in the morning, not looking forward to it, but has to be done!

    Good luck everyone!

    Day 24, Newcastle UK, FD

Successful, alcohol free Sunday and a lovely indian meal with family last night. Whilst over TDEE it was still a controlled NFD in that I chose well and only ate half a naan, one small spoonful of rice and actually left something on my plate. My eating habits are definitely changing for the better. @twinmam & @big_bill, I too have stopped writing down calories but do keep a running estimate in my head.

@brightonbelle – are you and OH on board for an alcohol free Monday to Friday (or Thursday..)? Who else is joining the pocket winos/beeries this week?
@lindasue – it’s so ironic – our weather is dreadful right now and our garden is sodden – I can’t get in to plant my new purchases. @steve TTD – woohoo – so close!! And yay!!! – @okeydokey – you’re back – how’s your feet? Do hope there’s going to be an August challenge – and look forward to ‘seeing’ you, @fordprefect and @BooperDooper.

Following @at‘s pertinent quote: ” Life is a One Time Offer – Use it Well” I have this morning booked us a cruise end of August. That is a huge motivator to a) meet my July goal and b) set and reach my August goal before we leave.

“Your body hears everything your mind says. Stay positive” – author unknown.

Good luck to everyone fasting today. I was getting a bit peckish but walking a couple km fixed that.

One thing about fasting is my body is telling me things now. Probably always was but I just couldn’t hear it very often. Yesterday I eat 3 eggs and actually cut back on the fruit because that is just what I was craving.

I’ve had cravings for lots of non-sweet foods now:
    – dark greens (more the once)
    – olives & pickles (once in a while)
    – Just some vegetables in general (many times …)
    – milled flaxseed in my coffee (many times …)
    – eggs
    – Fruit (many times but the type varies)
    – nuts & seeds (type varies a lot)

    There are also anti-cravings …
    – Less diet soda, a lot less these days. I have been drinking some club soda, but normally just a splash or two in a glass of water. Just a bit of a kick.
    – Fruit & nuts, once in a while they just lose their appeal.
    – sweets (Happening more often now)

I don’t know if others are experience these types of things.

    Thanks Fuvvie!

    Day 24…..Florida……. FD

@twinmam…… I normally do not count calories. In the beginning, I did to kind of get the feel of things. Now, I just allow my body to talk to me and I am very mindful of what I am putting into my mouth. Also, I am strict with my eating window. So, that helps a lot too.
Since this is a life style change and WOL for me now and I didn’t want to count calories for the rest of my life. I knew I needed to start listening more to my needs than my wants.

The start of another long week.

At any given time the urge to sing the lion sleeps tonight is only a whim away, a whim away, a whim away!

    2nd post

Yes, @dykask, I am experiencing a similar change in my desire for foods. For all I am generally avoiding bread, potatoes, rice and pasta – I do have them occasionally. However, since our holiday in May when I ate a lot of fresh fruit every day, I have carried on ever since we got home – 2/3 types of melon, pineapple, banana, blueberries, kiwi, strawberries, raspberries – a combination of whatever we have in the house plus a dollop of full fat greek yoghurt sprinkled with mixed seeds and/or pine nuts. It is absolutely delicious, does not seem to have any noticeable effect on my blood sugar levels, and has significantly helped my ‘slow’ digestive system. I think, as you have written in the past, the benefits of all this fruit outweigh the potential cons of high fructose – at least it’s a natural sugar I guess. Each to their own of course, but I am finding the regular addition of this fruit is steering me away from unhealthy refined carbs for 95% of the time.

    Day 24, London, FD

I had a reasonably good week (& 2 good FDs) followed by a fairly bad weekend. I had a lot of fruit in the house, but chose ice cream – 2 500ml tubs. One good thing came out of it – I felt so sick after eating the tub of Magnum ice cream (although I couldn’t stop myself!), that I won’t be doing that again in a long while; in fact I won’t be buying it in a long while. But I still lost 1lb and an inch off my bust. I am about a UK size 14/16 in trousers at the moment, but tried on a size 12 over the weekend (it was the largest size they had) and got into them, although there was a very large belly overhang over the waistband. But to me, it means I could get there eventually.

    Day 24 USA FD

I’ve made it this far fasting again today. 😊So far no migraine and the cravings for sugar or wine, or a Margarita are pretty much gone for now.
Glad to be back on the wagon again with my favorite group.😊

@strawberriesandcream Thanks for asking. My feet are still a a bit burning on the top. Using aloe and medication the doctor gave me. 😊It was still worth going to San Diego…walking along the coast and beaches it was so beautiful. If we ever go again, I will wear plenty of high protection sunscreen on the tops of my feet. 😊I just started wearing loose fitting tennis shoes for a couple of hours at a time as long as I stay out of the sun and out of hot temperatures I can wear the tennis shoes after about an hour they start to burn. I’m not back to walking as much as I was. ✨😊Good for you avoiding bread, pasta, and potatoes. 😊That will keep you in the fat burning zone.

Wishing everyone well today! I am adding myself to the list. Please add yourself if you are fasting today😊

    Day 24 – 🇬🇧- NFD

Only managed to fast for one day last week better than not fasting at all!

Kids on summer hols will be challenging, but I know I’m not alone in facing that challenge….

I appreciate the recommendations….tried sourdough bread for the first time, delicious 😋 I haven’t eaten bread for a long time due to triggering cramps but no issues caused, hurrah! Planning to try sourdough pizza v soon!!

Will plan for FD’s this week – first being tomorrow. Definitely need your support 😊

    Day 24 – USA (Illinois) – CD (16:8)

Yesterday was not at all controlled, so I really must do better today. Part of our WOL does allow some indulgences, and that was my day. Ha ha!

It’s nice to finally have some cooler and drier weather here. I would gladly share some rain with anyone who wants it! TVweather said we have had 14″ since June 1 and 8″ in the last couple days. We are in a creek & river area, and lots of other people have had real catastrophes. Roads closed. The water in our basement is drying up. Finally. Dehumidifier and wet/dry vacuum working up a storm. I would have thought all the vacuuming I have done would have burned up more calories. But the flowers outside and lawn look terrific!

@helenalee – I have done that with some leftover ice cream some houseguests left here. Sure was delicious! We call that fat over the waist “muffin top” – I get that at times too!

@okeydokey – no migraines are a good thing! Yeah for that.

    Onward and downward

    Day 24, Emden Germany, FD

@okeydokey glad to see you back

Wishing everyone well today! I am adding myself to the list. Please add yourself if you are fasting today😊 (I stole this from okeydokey)

    Day 24 – USA – NFD

    Chicago, Illinois USA
    Day 22 – NFD
    Day 23 – NFD
    Day 24 – FD

@coda Weigh in Saturday at 140.5 pounds

    Day 24, South Wales, NFD

@twinmam – I don’t count calories on NFDs, but I am avoiding sugar/puddings, and limiting high GI carbs (bread, potatoes, white rice etc) and making them a much smaller portion of my meals than before starting this.

@songbirdme That’s an interesting blog post although it’s weird that it goes against the original finds of the 5:2 diet and Dr Moseley’s Intermittent fasting tests, particularly the increase in LDL cholesterol- Dr M and the US study saw a significant fall in LDL cholesterol. Strange!?

Day 24 Akron Ohio. I am heading out with the family for a week to Pennsylvania. I started this WOL in February, July has not gone as well for me as previous months. Looking back I realise now that I over corrected with my FD schedule after our summer family vacation, and that created a boomerang effect that wasn’t sustainable for me. So I’m hoping we have an August challenge, because I plan to return to the fasting schedule that worked so well for me when I started this WOL. Have a great week everyone, I will try to check in daily during our trip.

    Day 24 – Cumbria UK – NFD

Not doing my usual Monday FD today for social reasons but it will be a CD and no 🍷- planning on doing a FD tomorrow to replace today’s usual FD.

Going to a new class this evening as my Yoga teacher is away for the next 5 weeks – it’s an hour long high intensity pilates class – should be interesting to see how I cope……..

No time to catch up with the posts today – hope everyone is doing well and wishing you all a very strong last week of this July 2017 31 Day Challenge!

    TOGETHER WE ARE STRONGER

Day 24 Massachusetts USA NFD @ad My post could be pretty much exactly what you said, except I already did one hour yoga class. FD pushed into tomorrow but CD today!

    Day 24, Northumberland UK, NFD

Nice controlled day yesterday and today going okay too.

For those worrying about weight fluctuations, my weight for the last 7 days, weighing at roughly the same stage of every morning is:
    75.1, 73.8, 73.8, 73.8, 73.5, 74.6, 74.6

Looking more long term, the fluctuations are generally (but not always) a clear down after a fast day but then hard to link to calorie count, exercise or fluid intake. I had to train myself to use it as a guide only, and while I was aiming to discard weight and inches I looked at a 10 day average as I find I ‘need’ to weigh myself every day. As long as that trend was downwards, and the trend on my tracking day was down (I use the traker on here on a Wednesday) I figured all was going to plan.

Day 24 – McMinnville Oregon USA NFD
My FD didn’t go well. I’m okay in the morning because I’m not hungry but things fall apart in the evening. I’ve decided a need a NFD after a FD.

@dykask – I’m so impressed with your ability to fast multiple days in a row. Any hints for me??

@okeydokey – I had migraines when I was going through menopause so my heart goes out to you. Fortunately mine went away once through all that.

    Day 24, Gozo Malta, nfd

Sirisan Alexander is doing better and has eaten quite normally today. However Alexander is my one year grandson. My son is fourteen years old and is not sick but healthy up till now. Thanks for your wishes.

Successful fast day till now. Have eaten around 325 calories and I intend to have a salad and baked fish with capers and tomato this evening. That should be around 650 calories.

I intend to weigh next Thursday for the last time this month because I won’t be able to as I’ll be on holiday. Tomorrow I mean to fast until evening then I’m meeting my school friend who has arrived from Melbourne for dinner but I would be having a salad.

Onwards and downwards, have a great Monday everyone.

Day 24 FD St. Louis USA

@imrenfrey. I like the idea of tracking over 10 days and looking at an average. My concern was I jumped the gun on thinking I had hit my goal and was into maintenance. I have noticed as I’ve waited a couple of times since that I am losing a few ounces each day. I didn’t know if it was a good idea to weigh more often or not.

@songbirdme. Yes! So grateful that the rain came in and cool down our temperatures. It’s been over 100° every day for the past week until yesterday. Today is also beautiful. I like it best when I can turn off the air conditioner and open the windows and doors.

My fitness has had that information on fasting before. I saw it and posted here a couple of weeks ago. I suspect there will be more studies and more research done which is a good thing. One of the things I noticed about the study was the caution to women about hormonal changes. Since I’m postmenopausal I’m not sure if it’s as relevant. Has anyone else noticed any hormonal issues?

All my best to all of you.

Anna6 i’m sorry I misunderstood. I had seen all the post and I guess I just miss read it. And any rate I’m glad your grandson is doing better.

    Day 24, USA Kansas, FD

I woke up feeling fine, so my on schedule FD is in full swing today. Thank you for preemptively adding me to the pocket list, it made it an easier choice to just go through with the FD!

I do have a little bit of a headache going on right now, though I suspect it’s my need for caffeine lifting it’s head and growling at me. It’s not intolerable, and I had my first caffeine of the day just a minute ago so I’m expecting it to be short lived.

Is there only a week left? My, things are going quicker than anticipated.

    2nd post
So I did it! Managed my first cycle commute. Took 17 minutes going in this morning and 18 minutes coming home this evening. I also discovered I am ridiculously unfit. I’m probably about 1st heavier than I was the last time I got on a bike, plus I had panniers with my laptop and handbag in and that extra weight really makes a difference every time I hit a hill of any description (some of them were really only slopes).
Still, if I keep doing it my aerobic fitness can only get better and it’s probably a good complement to the weightlifting. Route isn’t too bad, one slightly hairy double mini roundabout but mostly okay.

Day 24 FD south coast uk
Ploughed thro a mountain of paperwork today and no snacking involved, downside i didn’t move as much so was tap dancing in the kitchen whilst cooking dinner for the family, my boys think i am bonkers!! Btw no fred or ginger:)
@brightonbelle – southern water adding cals to justify their costs?? Good luck in shifting them.
Going to drop alcohol for the week also
