  • Day 12, UK, NFD
Scales showing an ever so small loss for the month. Will today’s NFD wipe it out by tomorrow?

    Day 12 Belfast FD
Awake from 4.50am with the sunshine streaming in. Caravan packed and we’ll be off mid morning to the Wicklow mountains. The big challenge now of course, is not let the lbs creep up.

@Liathananail what an interesting link especially as I was a very thin adolescent!
@lilymartin my OH eats his boiled eggs in a cup, mashed up with butter. No soldiers!
    Go Bert! I’m tugging hard!
@fatrabbit the pointed end should be opened first of course! Not you’ve opened a can of worms!
@big Viking any loss is a good one!

    Day 11 – UAE – NFD

    Day 12 Newcastle UK NFD
@annemarilyn not sure the calorie count of the purple majesty but there is a white variety called Vivaldi they are known as the Weight Watchers potato

    Day 12 UK NFD

@ciren2 congratulations🎉 And to you too @bert1802 ,its achievements like that keep me going

@steve toon taxi driver – wow what an experience glad everything’s ok now

    Day 12 – UK – NFD

Day 12, Northumberland UK – CD

I should probably be aiming for a fast day as yesterday’s blew out to a feast day, but the scales haven’t punished me yet, and I’m still feeling very sleep deprived so going to see where the day takes me. If I can squeeze in the gym this morning that will help.

    Day 12, Wales UK, NFD

Beautiful sunny morning here. Have a good day everyone x

    Day 12 FD

Happy to be back home and catching up on all the great posts from the last few days. Continue to be inspired by all the love and support on this forum.
Planning B2B2B fast days this end of the week to get back into my happy place!

Day 12 Akron OH CD. I have dinner planned with friends so can’t fast today. I plan to fast until then though.
    Enjoy your day.

Day 12, London, UK, FD (3rd of B2B2B)

And the egg cup debate rolls on!!!

@twinmam, @fatrabbit, @penz, @keetseel, @annemarilyn, @califdreamer (too cute sumo!!), @metatauta, @debster251, and anyone I missed, thanks for the egg cup confirmation, you learn something new every day!! How very ‘British’ we are, getting them sent from the UK, or bringing your own………. Have egg cup, will travel!!! I guess you don’t need an egg cup if you never have them soft boiled!!! The saucepan for water boiling still flummoxes me!!!

@annemarilyn, dippy egg & soldiers dripping in butter…..………Yummy!!!

    https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/564x/9d/4d/10/9d4d10c1eae229aab26cc23923fdc4ea.jpg

@laurealice, I’m afraid I’m with your OH and firmly in the ‘hate it’ camp re: marmite!! A numpty is a bit of an idiot or fool, a Scottish term I think.

@steve toon taxi driver, so I guess your blaming the doctor who interpreted your results incorrectly, for knocking a few years of you & your wife’s’ lives!!!! Dr. Numpty??

@debster251………. For my fellow pocket wino’s, take note………………in about 36hrs I’ll be sozzled!!!!!

Holding fast to a FD at home today, it may prove a bit tricky as there IS a packet of malted milk biscuits (my nemesis) looking at me, winking in my direction & blowing me kisses……………… it may be a short seduction unless I go for a walk!!!

Onward & downward people, we’ve got this!!!!!

    Day 12……Florida………err?

Gonna add my two cents in here about the egg……. as long as you can eat what inside I don’t think there is a wrong or right way…..lol but seriously….. I think it the smaller end to open because the wider end provides an easier ability to finish it completely. Plus, it’s been along time since having one in an egg cup but I believe the pointy end makes it to gobble in the cup.

So, I really want today to be a FD but we are going to be having company for dinner/supper/tea. The OH and I are making our stuffed dough tonight. Basically it’s meat, cheese and veg wrapped nicely in a dough blanket and baked to a golden brown.

    Debster…… safe travels

Steve toon…. glad your health is back on the right track. I love purple potatoes, unfortunately that’s something here I have not been able to find to plant in the garden. When the kids were little, I used to mix them with cauliflower gives it less of a purple color but does lower the calories too. But I only did it because the kids were going through I won’t eat veg phase.

Well….. I’m off another day at work. I feel like Imbeing punished this week after all that time off last week.

At any given moment the urge to sing the lion sleeps tonight is just a whim away, a whim away!

    Day 12 – 🇬🇧- NFD

Needed to do a double take on the scales this morning finally weighing under 10 and a half stone at 10st 6.5lbs – last saw that weight pre kids, 😁 that’s over a decade ago!!!! getting close to 🎯

May be due to my 😇 weekend – no alcohol or it could the whoosh effect I’ve read about on this forum. Of course pocket winos my first thought was to celebrate 🍾 (In moderation of course 😊)

Stay strong everyone -nearly at half way point!!!

    Day 12 – USA (Illinois) – NFD

Right at maintenance 160# this morning despite a bit of an over-eat yesterday. Heading to Silver Sneakers today. Does anyone ever try to do a FD on an exercise day? I’ve never had success with it. Plus I have rehearsal tonight, so will need good energy.

@fatrabbit – you are doing so well! Yeah for being in the 160’s! I remember ever so well when I finally broke 170. It really was a celebration.

@bert1802 – just enjoy the memories of your vacay time. That will help you with having to work.

@flourbaby – enjoy getting snozzled. This pocket wino envies your respite from the world.

    Onward and downward!

    Day 12 USA FD
@tlc2 Congrats on your whoosh-that’s quite an accomplishment and good inspiration for the rest of us to “stay the course.”

Thinking about some days of AFD to get things moving in the right direction again. Still find it tricky to balance my water intake with keeping my sodium level up, particularly as it is hot and dry here now. Onward and downward!

    Day 12, Gozo, Malta, nfd

After I did a fish pie for tomorrow, I went to the beach with my sister in law and swam for about forty minutes before sunbathed and had an ice coffee from a nearby restaurant. Amazing how refreshing it is.

I ate the local ftira with my husband and now I’m babysitting my 11 month grandson.

This afternoon I’ll take my grandson to attend mass at the village square.

Have a great Wednesday everyone. Onwards and downwards.

@coda everthing has been changed FD NFD, starting weight, current weight, just everything different. I just checked it again today and it appears to be correct, looks like your message helped. Thanks Liz!

    Day12, South Wales, FD
Finally, a glimmer of hope on the plateau front – just a half pound down, so decided to try to boost this with an impromptu fast day today. Hopefully not jinxing it by posting! I am seriously hoping to go under 11st by the end of the month.

    Good luck to today’s fasters

Days 11 and 12 Australia NFD on both days. I am still AF and going well on Dry July but struggling.

Day 12, USA, Missouri Ozarks, FD

Still maintaining well, on a FD I eat dinner about 7 and then don’t have anything else except coffee in the morning then water and green tea throughout the day.

Got in lots of exercise already, was up doing my planks, tricep dips and pushups at 5 a.m. Got me all energized to get ready for work.

Out for a day with friends tomorrow – that is always nice.

    Wishing all well.

ciren, hope you had a wonderful anniversary – and have many more !

    Day 12 – USA – FD

    Day 12 –ABQ– FD

I’m going to try an inverted FD by eating lunch but not dinner. I don’t know how the body/brain mafia will like that one!

Last night Sweetie and I stayed at a motel down the street from our house, and we will again tonight. No AC and plumbers cutting holes everywhere, and he having to get physically and mentally ready for surgery tomorrow, it just seemed like the best thing to do. We brought none of our normal nighttime snacks with us, so I couldn’t have had too many —s (fill in the blank: chips, cookies, popsicles, etc.) if I’d wanted to (and I did). Hey, whatever works.

Today, although I have to shop for a new bathtub, toilet and sink, I will also look online for a couple of egg cups. Suddenly and inexplicably I’m craving a soft-boiled egg with lots of salt and pepper and a fresh baguette to dip into it. OMG, I love food.

@lilymartin –so glad you’re getting rain! We’re getting into the ‘monsoon’ season here but no luck so far.

@Debster251–Do you just use a regular car to haul your caravan or did you have to get a big-engine car? We’re thinking of getting a trailer also but I don’t want to buy a truck just to drag it around. When I was visiting England, Wales and Ireland (20+ years ago) I really loved the caravan parks there. They seemed like so much fun. We have things like that here but I haven’t seen any that are quite as nice.

3 things to be grateful for:

    Friends
    Fresh bread
    Fridays

Missed yesterday. It was a CD. Hit July goal as of yesterday. Now I have to maintain so that this goal really sticks. 😊🌻😊🌼😊

    Day 12 NFD North Wales
Home at last. I have had a relaxing day today, walking the dog. FD tomorrow. Looking forward to it.

    Day 12 – France – NFD

Seriously needing some hols. Happy vacation to those about to leave, happy wedding anniv to @ciren and @lilymartin‘s parents in law (65 years, big wow).

@debster 251 Flaxseed bread wasn’t stodgy but deceivingly filling. Think I prefer my brocoli bread though, will send you recipe if interested.

@lagrandebouffe hope you feel better soon you poor thing. Have you tried saro essential oil for colds and chesty things? Works a treat and kept all the family germ-free last winter

    Bon courage x

Day 12 NFD St. Louis USA
weight 134 but it is the day after a back to back fast Fasting tomorrow the last day of the week. Will catch up on reading all your posts soon. Waiting for my Vegimite to arrive.

Oh my best to all of you.

Day 12 Massachusetts USA NFD Congratulations 👏🏻@RedRockGirl302 for meeting your goal! I think it’ll take me until end of summer. I am feeling lighter and leaner though. I like the idea of a CD! That’s what my NFD’s have to be as, with MS, I have few ways to exercise. It’s very hot here today so I should be able to swim in our lake. CD’s are falling into place as one higher calorie meal between two small meals. Best to all!

@laurealice, I’d be interested in the broccoli bread recipe please.

Day 12 – McMinnville Oregon USA FD
Yesterday was out of control eating. Today I will fast!!

Tomorrow we leave for Crater Lake. I have a photography workshop which I’m really looking forward to. Then to Bend for a few days. We will be eating out quite a bit. I’m thinking of packing my scales with me so I can weigh in, plus an egg cup of course.

@bert1802 – Good job getting into your shorts, definitely worth the 2nd post!!
@debster251 – Enjoy your vacation, it sounds like a beautiful location.
@redrockgirl302 – Congrats on meeting your July goal half way through the month!!

    Day 12 – Cumbria UK – NFD

Woke up to bright sunshine today – enough to make you feel good!

Busy day yesterday – after a rather damp but not cold 6mile/10km walk with friends we treated ourselves to a bacon roll and a pot of tea – I have not had a bacon roll for over a year!!!!!!
Spent yesterday afternoon baking for today – the club I volunteer at was having a summer party this afternoon and I made a gluten free tea bread and a gluten free lemon drizzle cake, then made a spicy prawn/fish curry for dinner – enjoyed a couple of glasses of a Pinot Grigio……and had dessert as well……well over my calories for the day!!!!

Lovely Yoga class this morning – back home for a break before going to help at the club……lots of various homemade cakes and scones was available……..But I was v restrained………back home feeling a bit drained now – very busy afternoon. A lovely mixed salad with a large glass of chilled white wine for dinner to look forward to!

@xrox – have a lovely time helping your husband celebrate his birthday – lovely part of the country you are visiting!
@fuvvie – all you can do is be there for your friend and give support/advice as you can – it’s good she took your advice re palliative care
@slogan15 and @jisika – I found eating to my goal weight TDEE and 1/4 TDEE on both NFDs and FDs and not at my current weight!!!! worked a treat for me when I trying to lose more weight. I also found mixing things up a bit; i.e. doing the odd B2B or 3 FDs a week, drinking plenty of water and cutting back on carbs and alcohol also helped.
@liathanail – sounds like you are doing a great job!
@debster251 – that must have been such a great feeling yesterday morning 💃 enjoy your caravan break in the Wicklow mountains but stay mindful 😇
@flourbaby – you are not going on holidays are you???😉 bet you can’t wait only 1 more sleep to go now……..
@steve-toon-taxi-driver – what a worrying situation to find yourself in – so glad to hear it all turned out well
@jisika – Welcome – lots of friendly folks on here. Yes eating below TDEE would be a CD – no specific number, so long as you are below…..
@mia139 – Hope your sister is doing better – she must have really appreciated you coming to visit and stay for a couple of days 🤗
@flourbaby – as @debster251 says have a fab holiday and as a fellow pocket wino, I’m sure that you’ll represent our group well 🍷🥂
@lagrandebouffe – hope you start to feel better soon – bronchitis is horrible
@ciren2 – sorry I missed seeing that yesterday was your 30th wedding anniversary – hope you and your OH had a very happy day 🥂
@dellanic – great job on that charity walk
@bert1802 – fitting into those shorts deserves a 💃 hope you did a little jig!!!
    @tlc2 – 👍
@hannahwatto – stay strong – you can do this month

Great job by those reporting a loss or keeping the maintenance going – for those who are struggling please keep at it and stay strong – it will happen.

“It’s not just the weight you lose; but the life you gain”

    Day 12 California USA FD

A new low for me since starting the 5:2 WOL. 64.4 kg or 142 lbs. I had a pretty good NFD yesterday. I don’t count calories on NFD, but pretty sure I was under my TDEE. It makes me feel good to see that scale start to move downward again after the up and down over the last week or so. I am still averaging .7 kg per week loss.

I decided to do a FD today, a day early, because I did my Monday one on Sunday this week, so it feels right.

@redrockgirl302 congrats on meeting your July goal already! It’s not even mid month yet! Now you need to go above and beyond. I bet you can eek out another kg!

@keetseel – good luck on the shopping for bathroom fixtures today. That sounds like fun, but also some pressure to find ones you like for years to come. Amazon has some nice egg cups. I was thinking about those too. Great minds….

@flourbaby – with our whole international community considering egg cups, Marmite and Vegemite, I’d say we are expanding our horizons as well as losing weight! (I ordered a jar of Marmite from Amazon yesterday.) I also see a British product called “Pickle”. Has anyone tried that?

@lindasue I didn’t see you on the FD pocket list for today so adding you.

    Day 12, Newcastle UK, NFD

Today should have been a FD after a great night out with a lot of beer. However, I’m around 1000 cals, so it’s a controlled NFD. Will aim for a FD tomorrow.

Congratulations @redrockgirl302, @bert1802, @dellanic and @ciren2 on your various achievements.
Glad to hear all’s well @steve toon taxi driver. It’s very reassuring to hear how quickly the NHS reacts when a serious situation arises – despite it being wrong on this occasion and causing unnecessary worry for you and your wife.

It’s been a very hot day and I’ve enjoyed my gardening. Now for a quick shower then off to Ceroc. Keep on keeping on friends.

    2nd post

    Happy anniversary Ciren2

    Day 12, Emden Germany, NFD

    2d post
Got my vegemite and tried it on toast with butter is that what’s seem to be the recommendation. I liked it. It reminded me of a combination of black strap molasses and Brewers yeast. Assuming it’s healthy for me.

Day 12 – SW WA USA – FD

So happy that the scale moved downward this morning, after a controlled NFD yesterday. Weight from NFDs on the weekend is back off. Enjoyed a good walk this morning with a neighbour. Don’t think I’m ready for a soft-boiled egg, with or w/o an egg cup :). TY for the visual @flourbaby. Maybe I need to check out the Vegemite. Would that be one way to get the needed salt we need?

    TLC2 & @RedRockGirl352 – woo-hoo! Doing well with wooshes and reaching goals!

@awilson – enjoy CraterLake! I have that on the list of places to see. We lived in Roseburg, OR one year and I never made it over there.

@at – you sound like quite a chef. I like how you continue to take care of your weight but still enjoy food.

@debster251 – we’d probably call yours a trailer but still in the RV family. It sounds like a nice way to get away. Enjoy!

Adding myself to the pocket fasters today – day 12!

    Day 12: Gloucestershire, UK: NFD
Thanks everybody for your good wishes. We will be celebrating with a day at the Fairford Airshow on Saturday, which is my long weekend off work. We both love planes.

    Day 12, southcoast uk FD

Good FD monday, tues over on tdee a little and still holding onto the 1lb gain from last week pah. Busy work day so has turned into FD by chance, think I shall try another Fd friday then see if manage to lose something this week, here’s hoping! Any advice welcome.
    @debster21 enjoy your hols
    Keep on everybody

    Day 12, London UK NFD

@califdreamer pickle is certainly a British thing! Have it with cheese, either in a sandwich, or with crackers (think this might also be a British thing, not Graham crackers! Not sure what the American equivalent is – I mean on a cheese plate like at the end of a meal!)

Just back from a lovely evening out with friends. So nice to be able to eat fish and chips and have a glass of fizz without worrying. My friend is doing Weight Watchers and is struggling, and I tried to point her in this direction but I think she needs to think about it before she jumps.

    FD tomorrow.

Hello day 12 co down ni nfd

It was a bank holiday here so it was nice to have a day off.
@debbie251 have a lovely break away.
@ciren2 congratulations and enjoy the air show.
@stevetoontaxidriver glad it was a false alarm but im sure not as glad as you and your OH
@flourbaby – believe you are going on holidays no idea how I got that idea lol. Hope you have a fabulous time.

Love the debate on egg cups and kettles. It did come as a bit of a surprise while in the states no hotel had kettles, only coffee makers.

@redrockgirl302 – congratulations on meeting your goal! I hope you find maintenance is really pretty fun

@coda – you were probably as surprised not to see kettles in your hotels as we were to see them in our rooms in Australia!

    2nd Post Day 12

Just when you thought all was said and done about the egg cups, here’s an article on how to prepare and eat them: http://www.factsfacts.com/EggCups/EggCups.htm

    Day 13/CD/Melbourne Australia

Good morning. Still haven’t caught up with posts. Hopefully tonight. Official weigh day down 800 gm. Very happy with that after recent blow out. Will continue with CDs until I have a chance to fast again.

    Take care x

    Day 13, India, FD

Can someone please share the link to the July spreadsheet.

Day 13 FD country West Australia
going for b2bs as STILL no luck with the scales!!!
I have drunk so much water I slosh when I walk. Kept to 500 calories Monday and Wednesday and a controlled NFD Tuesday.
OH getting a bit worried. He said ‘ You MUST be losing weight because you almost seem to be starving yourself.’ He saw the number on the scales and just shook his head.
    It’s a mystery!!
BTW I do know there are a lot of other health benefits besides weight loss with 5:2, but weight loss is what I am after ATM. ( Apologies to those who hate acronyms!!)

    Day 13 | Brisbane | NFD

Managed to avoid temptation last night, I even broke off a piece of a lovely, lonely cheese scone sitting on the bench when I got home at 9.30 after a 5km walk, but put it back with the thought of I’ll have it for lunch tomorrow! So 2nd successful FD for this week completed yesterday.

It’s great to see all the non- Australian Vegemite eaters!
@annemarilyn yes it contains plenty of salt…..and B-vitamins.

Hang in there @lilymartin those fat cells WILL get the message and shrink and you will be victorious.
