  • Day 5, USA: Kansas, NFD

I managed to not over-eat too much during the festivities yesterday, kept well under my TDEE. Today I feel a bit tired, and the hunger beast is growling at me. I’m going to try and eat reasonably today, but I’m not going to beat myself up if I need a little extra food today.

    Day 5 FD Lancaster,PA USA 🇺🇸 FD

    @strawberriesandcream✨Thanks for hosting in June
I am in this month.😊✨✨Thank-you @coda for hosting this month 😊and for keeping us in line and on track with your Challenge.😊
@at and @snowflake56 😊Thanks for asking. We celebrated the 4th of July yesterday with a cook out. @fordprefect and I enjoyed a couple of Margaritas. (No salt… hoping that would help, they were still delicious…) Yesterday I was lite on the food. But then again… Margaritas and chips… come on … not really lite😊.
😊Today we are all back on the wagon, or back in the saddle as some would say for our each individual FD’s today. This is a WOL that we now know is an important part of our life for dare I say… the rest of our lives.

We had so much fun on our visits to High Rock Lake in NC and San Diego, CA…. really when we got back, it was to easy to procrastinate and decide to start with a FD later. My weight is at 160lbs so I’m up… My height is 5’7″ … I think I was slowly trying to convince myself that It’s alright to maintain 150lbs at 5’7″ I know I really want to maintain 131lbs at that height. So I will take @flourbaby and @lynzm ‘s advice on drinking more water and fighting the dragon ⚔️🐲⚔️. I like what @lynzm said all I have to do is say, I will have it tomorrow and temptation disappears… if this works for me, then I might try ADF. I’m very glad to read about the successes. I’m looking forward to reading more soon.

My thoughts are…. Make today count. We have more control about our successes than we think we do!
Wishing everyone well on our weightloss and weight maintaining journey!

We are in this together and we will get through this successfully …together! ✨✨🤝✨✨

Day 5-Canada-FD goal for today drink lots of water walk and stay under 800 calories

Is it too late to join for July? I’m starting this today and would love the extra motivation, accountability and support.

So, day 5, live in NE Hampshire, FD?

    Day 5 – UK – FD

    Checking in

    Day 5 California USA NFD

Did well yesterday for the holiday. We went out for Japanese last night (yeah, great American tradition on the 4th lol) and I had reasonable amounts of sushi with lots of soy sauce so the small weight gain this morning is probably water retention. I probably needed that since my BP was very low yesterday to the point I had to drink some salt water to get rid of the lightheadedness. I’ve cut my BP medication down to 1/4 of what I was taking 12 weeks ago and that may still be too much, especially when I’m not eating much for long stretches, even on NFD mornings. I’ll have to see what my doctor says.

@fatrabbit, it sounds like your weight loss is on a roll! Lots of berries are a great thing to be indulging in, all kinds of vitamins, anti-oxidants and good stuff. And they’re low in calories to boot. You may turn purple, but you’ll be skinny! Lol!

@xrox, having to return online shopping items because you ordered them too large is worth all the hassle of sending them back. I can see you raising a defiant fist in the air and shouting “Yes!” as you wrote out that return label!

Day 5, Rocky Mountains, US, BSD 800 cals

Well, I did feast yesterday at my friend’s 4th of July party. But it was fun and it is not every day. I was a bit mindful and had no bread 🍞and no alcohol🍷. Had iced tea and lemon mineral water. The only sugar was in the cheesecake 🍰I could not resist.😄 I am up on the scales but I know I cannot gain that much fat in 24 hours. Thanks @onahealthyhigh for the reminder that the scales are up the next day after a dinner out for different reasons and these quickly gained pounds are quickly disappearing as well. 😊😊😊

Have a good Wednesday everyone! Onwards and downwards!!!🌺🌻🌼

Okeydokey, So happy to “see” you and your family back !
Sounds like you have been having a wonderful time and now are “back in the saddle” as we Ozarkian horse ranchers say.

    Day 5, Emden Germany, FD

@coda of course I joined this challenge to get the medal but it got better, I’m delighted my name is highlighted on the spreadsheed, plan to stay there, thanks and may many of us follow being highlighted as well!

    @okeydokey wellcome back!

@lilymartin what does a ‘No plastic July’ mean? No processed food? Did you try to eat soup, it always keeps me warm on colder days and doesn’t have much calories. I always have chicken soup in the freezer.

    @fatrabbit you’re amazing, keep going!

I did my last FD a couple of weeks ago, so I decided to do one yesterday. It went fine, I forgot the great feeling the next morning so I decided to have another FD today. Finished now, I’ll have another large glass of warm water and off to bed with a good novel.

    Have a nice day/evening everyone!

    Day 5: Gloucestershire, UK.
Still on NFDs….for now. it’s very hot here today…we got the new paddling pool out…lovely.

Day 5 McMinnville Oregon USA NFD
I had a good controlled eating day yesterday.

My mild mannered neighbors turn into pyrotechnic enthusiasts on the 4th of July. The cat’s spent the night under the bed and I’m moving slowly this morning. 😴😾 I

    @xrox – I hope the size 10 fits!!

@mirandash & @lilymartin – I love the international nature of this forum, I’ve learned that Israel is having a heat wave and it’s snowing in the hills of West Australia.

@mia139 – Very smart of you to look at the menu prior to eating out and making a smart choice beforehand!!

@lumat – Congratulations on getting into pre pregnancy trousers!! Well done.

FD #2 has been successful so far. It’s early evening here in UK so once I’ve gotten my Piyo class over with it’ll be bath & bed and tomorrow will be with me along with an easy CD (1800 is so easy compared to 500 restricted calories)

    Have yourselves a successful fast

Day 5 – SW WA USA – FD

Yes, I echo @krisnia – my body is ready for a FD after the 4th of July festivities. I made pretty good choices but still a little more than needed.

@awilson – yes, my friends’ neighborhood changed from a fairly quite one to definite pyrotechnic enthusiasts. It was the biggest, loudest up close and personal fireworks event I’d ever been to. We dispersed before it was done. Apparently they continue until 2 to 3 in the morning.

Liathanail – you’ve already received great input regarding water. One thing I do when I’m wondering if I’m getting enough, is keep track with tally marks on a steno-pad. I go for 3 tallies/glasses before school, 3 more at school in the morning (I have a 24 oz water bottle there), refill for another 3 cups in the afternoon & some more when I get home. Of course now it’s summer break but I still often continue with the tallies from time to time to check how I’m doing.

@bert – I love “The Lion Sleeps Tonight”. You’re going to get us all singing.

@fuvvie – good to see you back on the forum

@metatauta – TY for the suggestion for low-carb alternative bread recipes

@sal47 – will pray – it sounds like a stressful week for you. Wish you could get all the animals outside for a bit and you could clear out the odors indoors.

    Day 4- Montreal- NFD
    Day 5- Montreal- FD

    Day 5, Israel FD
UGH! I had such a good FD- Until my kids were having pizza for movie night here. I wasn’t even hungry but the temptation was too strong! I had about 1.5 slices and they weren’t even that good 🙁 🙁 I just couldn’t stop myself. I really hope this didn’t destroy the FD altogether.

Thanks @awilson, just to update that the heat wave has finally passed- now it’s just good old regular HOT!

Good night everyone, your (virtual) presence is very reassuring and comforting..

    Day 3 USA NFD
    Day 4 USA NFD
    Day 5 USA FD
Wow 4th of July celebrations started on Friday and lasted through Tuesday. Had a great time at the pool and a concert and of course lots of fireworks and food. It is time to get back on track so fasting today is a must!

Day 5 NFD North Wales. Managed to eat quite sensibly. Worried about the fast day tomorrow as I am at my daughter’s.

    Day 5 Lancaster,PA FD
Thanks @snowflake56 Glad to “see”, you are still successfully maintaining, Congratulations✨✨🎉🎉
@lindasue Thanks, I’m trying to hang on to the saddle 😅. I love Aldi’s also, it’s a little bit farther than our regular grocery store, but it’s worth it. ✨✨Glad to “see”, you are still very successfully maintaining! Good for you!👏✨🎉Keep on Keeping on Girl!👏✨🎉

    Day 5, Gozo, Malta, nfd

I’ve returned from a four day holiday to Sicily last Sunday. I’m joining this late Coda, ok?

I’ve gained a kilo eating good food while on holiday and because of a birthday party of my eldest granddaughter Marie who was four yesterday but we celebrated her birthday Sunday.

I need to do a fast day. Onwards and downwards.

    Day 5 NFD Huntingdon UK

    Day 5 – USA – FD

@fatteacher, I have not forgotten you! I just tried the Miracle Noodles, following the directions on the package. Yes, they are fishy smelling at first and kind of slimy until you dry them, then add your sauce. My final result was a pretty filling early dinner for a FD! I used two packages (7 oz. each) which made a whopping big plate (I’m a hungry girl), garnished with a spiced up pizza sauce (less calories than meat sauce or regular tomato sauce), as well as a light sprinkling of parmesan cheese and a few leftover grilled onions and peppers. Voila!

Day 5 NFD St. Louis USA
    Weight 134.8

For those who are trying to Konjac noodles, I use Trim Healthy Mama Not Naughty noodles. They are not fishy are smelly at all. They are 0 cal and I have use them on fast days in my broth. It’s about five or 10 cal total and quite filling.

Will be fasting tomorrow and then maintaining for the rest of the week. We are having some lovely weather. A bit warm but not terribly humid. Very nice for the Midwest in July.

All my best to all of you.

    Second post
@laurealice – I suffer from a similar problem as your OH. I have found several things have helped:
    – I drink a glass of water kefir every day and also make my own yoghurt in a thermos flask ( I’ve also tried a few of the recipes in The Clever Guts book.)
    – I try to avoid sugar
    – I have lost weight – I’m apple shaped so that is particularly pertinent
    – I eat my evening meal a few hours before I go to bed
    – I find fasting helps alleviate the symptoms too.
I have been able to cut my medication in half and hope to halve that again soon.
    Nothing venture, nothing gained!
    @ Sal47 you’ve a heart like a lion!
@wix1uk it’s never too late to join! Welcome!

Day 6 NFD country West Australia
Sitting here in beanie, scarf and almost on top of the heater. The wood fire is blazing but it feels really cold. I almost stayed in bed another hour but decided to brave the 5.30 am temp and get a head start for the day.
Otherwise I always seem to be behind.
Yesterday’s FD went well despite the cold. Managed 496 calories with a Pilates Class thrown in.
Back to counting calories ( again ) for a little while as I seem to put on weight very easily if I don’t get a good grip on keeping under 500calories and under TDEE on NFDs.
It worked when I was successful initially regarding weight so going with that although it is not my favourite activity.
@Snowflafe56, I usually have veggie water soup ( just use the strained water from steamed / boiled veggies) which I keep in the fridge. I had a cup of that yesterday as water with instant ‘Miso’ soup. I’m not crazy about the Miso but it is warming and lo-cal.
‘No Plastics July’ is an initiative I heard about on the radio , looked it up online and decided to give it a go for the sake of the environment.
It encourages you to NOT use single use plastics for the whole of July. It is turning out to be much harder than I thought!
Most Take away coffee cups for example are single use, coated with some kind of plastic and take years to break down. Ditto ”Gladwrap’ and other food coverings, food packings etc.
Trying to buy food not wrapped in plastic is almost impossible in some places here as in our town we don’t have any stores with bulk buy for dry food, household goods etc.
And the food we have all seem to come in plastic!!
    It’s a challenge!!
The other disturbing fact is that plastic in the ocean just breaks down to smaller bits of plastic and they say if you eat a lot of fish ( we do!) we consume 11,000 small bits of plastic!! Not good.
Have a healthy, plastic free day!!😅

Hurrah! Got some early vegetables from a friend’s garden! I’m trying turnips for the first time in my life. I found a recipe that appealed to me on AllRecipes.com to give them a creamy sauce, oregano and Parmesan cheese included. Also got an early zucchini, broccoli, and some kale! Oh my, this turnip recipe is delish!

Days 1-5: Albuquerque, NM — NFD

I’m going to try to make tomorrow the first FD of the month.

    Hello co down ni fd
was a good fd until about 9pm when number 2 son brought home some liquorice allsorts. Had done well to then but that little devil on my shoulder ‘you have been good all day, what harm could it do’ ‘go on’ etc. So while I had fasted until then on one coffee and water I could/should have seen it through until the morning. Must do better – next time!

@brightonbelle – can you request that your forgotten password is emailed to you?

@liathanail – I set a timer on my phone to go off every hour to remind me to take a glass of water. You could use a timer on your computer or bring a kitchen timer with you.

@chumi – posting at least once a week still gets you a medal. Welcome back

@anna6 – never too late welcome back

    @okeydokey – welcome back

@lisalily82 – have you tried courgetti instead of pasta? With the sauce the rest of the family are having I find it a tasty alternative to spaghetti.

    Welcome also to
    Privilege
    Tonib1955
    Endellion – welcome back
    ALandEM

    Wix1uk
I have added most but not all to our spreadsheet. If you’re not there yet I’ll add you tomorrow.

Maintainers – I’m so glad the simple act of highlighting your names has pleased you. You deserve to stand out as a beacon of hope. If I have missed anyone let me know.

So we are in the second half of week one. How have you found it? Will you repeat what you did next week or will you change it around? Have you increased your water enough or is that something you are still working on. Jot down in an notebook how you felt, maybe remind yourself why you started and how you felt about life. Lets give a strong finish to week 1. Are you getting a sense of achievement as you cross off the days, it doesn’t matter if they are still a work in progress. What matters you are still here. You may not have seen the numbers on the scale you want or it’s painfully slow (we all want it to go now) but that is not ultimately what this challenge is all about. It’s commitment. It’s doing something for you. I can tell you now there are already nearly a dozen who signed up who have yet to come back. Let’s see it through to the end – a day at a time, good or bad. It’s only 31 days with 26 oops 25 to go.

    @keetseel – don’t try – you will!

    @Chitowngal – where are you?

    Day 5 – Tokyo, Japan – NFD 83.2kg
    Day 6 – NFD 83.5kg

I ended up walking almost 20km yesterday. My left heel is too sore for a good workout today. Tomorrow will be a better day for a workout.

July 1 & 2: Very bad NFDs. I didn’t eat a huge amount, but what I did eat was full of sugar.

July 3, 4 & 5: Three back-to-back fasting (< 600 calorie) days. I reckon it took until the evening of the 3rd fasting day in a row to get all that sugar out of my system!

Normally I “hit the wall” late on the 2nd or 3rd fasting day. This time around I felt like I could have kept going for a 4th fasting day, but I’ve chosen instead to be sensible and eat a couple of thousand calories today. I will try to stay well under my TDEE, which is 3,200.

    Day 7/FD/Melbourne Australia

Thank you for the link to the Keto Diet website, I learnt something new, always a pleasure. My daughter in law follows the modified Atkins diet. I was really blown away by some of the delicious food she prepared for us and it can be included in the Mediterranean diet we follow LCHF suggested by Dr M. I know I can’t go completely carb free. I do enjoy the occasional pasta and sourdough bread and unrefined carbs. Being able to include those makes it a sustainable WOL and keeps my gut healthy!

    With thanks to @okeydockey
🎶I’m back in the saddle again
    Out where a friend is a friend🎶
My first fast day in over two weeks.
Have a great day my virtual friends.

    Day 6 | Australia | FD

5.30am Pump class makes for a hungry FD! Had 3 strawberries for breakfast, have roast tomato and cumin soup for lunch and will make tuna with carrot & zucchini noodles with lots of lemon for dinner. My treat on FD is a lowcal drink in the afternoon, I was having Pepsi max but it’s too acidic for my tum so am trying Peach iced tea today. Still drinking lots of water…

    Good fasting everyone.

    Day 5, Ottawa Canada FD

I did pretty well today. I had 12k steps on fitbit and also did Jillian workout. I might have gotten a bit more than 500 calories today. This is first time I am trying to fast 3 days a week. I must say alternate day fasting feel way more challenging than 2 days week. Next 2 weeks I will go back to 2 days fasting again.

Day 6 Australia NFD am sticking to my Mediterranean diet but am at home today doing family and building chores and am so hungry with the fridge full of tempting goodies so close. The goodies are all healthy but if you eat too much of anything it will impact your weight. Trying to resist …

    Day 6, India, FD

Its the first time I will be doing a back2back I am both excited and nervous. I think it should be easy because I anyway dont feel very hungry after a FD.
Really hoping this will move the scales a bit and make weekends a little easy.
Good luck everyone with an FD or an NFD.

    Day 6 NFD 🌈

Water dragon fighting today 💦🐉👊🏻and healthy eating, ended yesterday’s FD on 800cals, scales getting me back to where I was before joyful June. 😂😂

Love the June challenge lion sleeps tonight song 🦁. Hear us Roar. 🤘🏻

DAY 6 – UK – FD (well I hope it is!)

Weight up again this morning – despite thinking yesterday was a good day. I can only assume it’s water retention! Drinking lots as its so hot down here in the south. Can’t believe it was raining in Newcastle…..it’s been fantastic here for weeks, or so it seems. Sleeping with all the windows and french doors open!

Still hanging in…and gradually getting back on track…despite the weight gain.

@coda thank you for the welcome 🙂 I’m learning a lot from the posts already!!!!

Day 2 NFD – had a successful FD I’m using meal replacement drinks on my FD – suits me not to think about food for a couple of days. Drank loads of water and the scales showed a 4lb loss this morning. Only going to weigh the day after a FD will motivate me to be mindful on NFDs. I thought I would wake up starving this morning but I haven’t. Been up an hour haven’t had breakfast yet but oOoOOOo now thinking about it 😂

Prior to following this diet I was doing weight watchers but the no count version of it so on NFD I’m going to stick to those principles as it’s a pretty healthy way of eating.

Anyone hope everyone enjoys their day!!!

    DAY 6, UK, CD

I had a cheeky weigh in (I say cheeky cos I usually wait a week) and was so pleased to see 1.5lb loss. This will keep me motivated to keep to my plan of not exceeding my TDEE.

I’m quite excited about next weeks FD… Is that perverse?

    Keep working it everyone 🙂

    Day 6, London UK, F
Second fast for me and I’m going to try breakfast today to see if it works better than nothing till dinner.

I forgot that I’m going to a baby buggy walk with other mums today followed by a coffee shop so I’m going to have to be on top willpower to forego the scones!

Hi adorabubble although this is day 2 for you if you would start on same page as rest of us – the day we are all on is the day of the month. So we are all on same page. Or July 6th is day 6 thanks x

    Day 4, Guildford UK, NFD
    Day 5, Guildford UK, WFD

Divorce docs done, yesterday was very stressful.

Bought a beautiful dress for the Divorce Hearing (revenge bod @debster). Doesn’t fit and I am so sad about it. So now I need a classy dress that fits.

Am so sad about it, glad I tried it on.

This is taking so long and I almost feel disheartened.

Good to get it over with and not on Monday.

So it’s hunt for a black business dress that I would want to wear again. I guess it’s too late for ebay or Amazon and it’s hardly the season for the LBD.

    A bit down about it.

    Hey how…….

I am revelling in everyone’s success so I can know it’s possible.

Back to the programme, it’s a way of life

Ah ok thank you – makes sense 😂

    Day 6. Belfast NFD.
I’ve been undertaking a major lawn refurbishment project with OH over the last 5 days and am feeling the consequences in my shoulders and legs. Our lawn is poorly drained and on heavy clay soil, so we hired an aerator, then covered the lawn front and back with 2 tonnes of sharp sand. Thank goodness that project is nearly over! Good workout, along with 80 lengths of the pool yesterday, but today I’m taking it easy. No shovelling or raking for me!
Have a good day my virtual friends. ONWARDS AND DOWNWARDS!

    Day 6, UK, NFD

Scales back in positive (negative?) territory again. Creeping ever closer to ultimate goal, but now looks like it will be August. Keep on keeping on.

    Day 6, London, UK, FD,

Well my plans for ADF have changed as my Friday lunch has been rescheduled for Saturday, Oh well I’ll just have to B2B2B2B next week to make up the missed day and start my hols on a good footing!!! I hope I’ve enough strength, on my 4th FD in a row, to lug the suitcase around!!!!!!

Welcome @adorabubble, I love the handle, I’m going to steal that and use it in reference to my 7 year old nephew…………… he’ll HATE it!!!!!!!!

@msraven, it isn’t perverse at all to look forward to a FD, further down the line you’ll be looking at Liquid only FDs, B2B2B2B etc. with the same level of keenness!!! I think the feeling of achievement and lightness (mentally…… No constant thinking about food; and physically…….Just giving the digestive system a break) are powerful enough to make you look forward to repeating it!!!

Good luck everyone, I hope today goes well, whatever you’re doing FD, NFD or CD…………… it’s just ONE day!!!!!

    Day 6 – Woking, UK – NFD
    248.8lbs

Thank you, thank you, thank you to @flourbaby, @xrox, @lindasue, @annemarilyn, @coda – your advice and tips meant I drank 3L of water yesterday and the scales are back to being friendly again!

I’m quite happy drinking plain water but just regularly forget to grab some so filled a 750ml bottle and kept it on my desk next to the keyboard yesterday. I used the movement reminder on the Fitbit as a drinking reminder also and ended up refilling it twice during the day. Also put a bottle by my bed last night and drank it when I got up (but after I weighed myself 😉). I’m using the water tracker in the Fitbit dashboard to keep track.

Yesterday was another good fast day at 678 cals so now I just need to be a bit controlled for the rest of the week. Off to the gym for another training session tonight.

So happy I found this community- what a great bunch of people you all are.

    Day 6 – France – FD
@coda This is Week 6 for me, but I remember feeling distinctly ratty in first week. Might have been the sugar demons kicking out. I now really enjoy my FD, no hunger pangs whatsoever.

@Debster2151 Thanks for the advice, I’ll put OH on all that. Spoke to him about it yesterday and he’s ready to give it a go. All sorts of things start going wrong at 55+, sad eh! I know he’ll find it hard to give up cakes and saucisson but he’ll make it.

@rainbowsmile Hugs to you. Been there.

    Bisous to all

Day 6 UK NFD nice to be feeling a bit more in control, @coda – thanks managed to get into the spreadsheet – weird they used to rule my world not so long ago but have now forgotten all but the most basic things

    Day 6, Northumberland UK, NFD

Still finding issues with eating to TDEE on NFD, which is making maintenance a challenge. I feel I am either below TDEE or eating junk, and once I start I am likely to binge and go way over TDEE. I will find my balance, I’m just not there yet.

Terrible night’s sleep last night thanks to my youngest sleep thief, but seem to have got past the sweeth tooth and hunger I woke up with thanks to lovely flavoured black coffee. Thank goodness for decaf as I seem to drink gallons of coffee these days, along with the gallons of fizzy water.
