  • Hello, I am now on week 4 and bit concerned about whether this is going to work. I lost 4lbs in my first week then gained 3 the next. Realised I ‘ d been going over my calories on both fast and feast days. Next week back down to 6 and this week lost 1 pound although weighed myself again 2 days later and had gained a pound. I know that scales can show quite a big daily fluctuation but am really worried that I am just plateauing. I have 2 stone to loose and don’t want to have to go back to slimming world, where I can reliably loose 2lbs a week but put it back on when I stop.
I am wearing a pedometer and have massively increased my activity levels, have been running, swimming and going to Zumba so with all the changes and the fact the I have been counting calories religiously with my Fitness Pal app, I was expecting more radical results. How long can it take to start seeing clear results?
Any advice or inspiration much appreciated!

Have you taken any measurements? You may be losing inches before weight (it’s happened to others). Your increased exercise is building a more muscle (which is a good thing) but more muscle is more weight.

You need to allow more time to see how it’s tracking for you, as many others have noted that it’s not a flat-line down on the scales but a bumpy up/down that tracks downward overall. 4 weeks isn’t much time – I think the book says to give it a good 12 weeks

    Hi and welcome:

Here is how you might experience your weight loss (if you follow 5:2): http://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/really-no-weight-loss/

And here are some warnings if you have not heard them yet: http://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/warnings-to-newbies/

    Good Luck!

Hi thank you for the reassuring replies and useful info. Weighed myself (again!) and actually have a 6lb weight loss in a month which considering one of the weeks was not following the methodology correctly is not too bad.
So I am going to weigh myself less and stop being impatient – I am feeling great for fasting, actually noticing improved energy levels on fast days. It has taken me 2 years to gain this weight so I need to be more realistic about how long it will take to loose and meanwhile enjoy feeling healthier and fitter!
Thanks for the responses – the support is useful. One if the main benefits of slimming world (which worked for me but I didn’t enjoy at all) was the weekly weigh in and support group which is very motivating so this online community is very helpful.
