  • I have recently had a health scare and at 64 I’m going to have to loose weight. I have a very negative attitude towards fad diets so after reading the fast diet book I’ve decided that I will give it an honest go and I think that I can stick to this as I can use my own recipes and will only have to watch my portion sizes.

    Hello Purple635. I was browing the blogs and came across your title for your thread. This is one of my favourite sayings 10 words of two letters and how much sense do they make! Dont have to say much to say an awful lot.

    I have just started this 5:2 diet – today actually and am hoping that I can make a difference to my health and weight loss. Have you just commenced this as well or have you been on it for a while? I ask because I notice your post is yesterday.

    Yesterday was also my first day and I started with the Fast Day. I’m proud of myself as I kept my calories to 410 for the day and also when I was shopping today I picked up a chocolate bar put it in my trolley and then put it back before I got to the checkout. How good is that. Also today I found out that I have a heart problem so more incentive to keep with the program and loose those extra kilos.

    Hi Yvonne, sorry to hear of your heart problem. You sound like you have started well. I find I automatically make better food choices on non fast days than I ever did. We are eating well, but not stuffing like we used to. I am into week 3, today is my 5th fast day and I am loving it.
    We can do this!!

    Hi again Yvonne and hi Applepie. Purple, we have just started this journey at a sim,ilar time so I am interested to see how you go with it. I have around 16kg to lose all up. It kind of crept on after menopause and nothing has halted the scales so hoping this 5:2 will do the trick.

    It is a shock when one is told they have ‘an issue’ with their bodies but I have found knowing what the issue is makes it easier to deal with. We need to keep positive and not be hard on ourselves if we lapse .. because as we know if it is to be it is up to me … love that quote. Do you know who said it?

    Day 3 and all is good. Went shopping yesterday and bought lots of fresh veggies and fruit. Can home and made chicken vegetable soup so will have it for lunch today. I really like these blogs as it is encouraging to read that we all seem to be in the same boat. Keep up the good blogs and have a good day. Tomorrow is 2nd Fast Day and I will be busy so a good thing.
