  • Im just new to 5:2, and this community as of today. Well, I did 5:2 for a week last year but my husband got all anti, so Im doing it again, but in secret. SHHHH!!! Don’t tell!! 😉
    This is my first fast day, and Im SHOCKED at how easy it is. I plan to have the same thing every fast day (Sundays and Tuesdays), which is;
    1 bag of green beans
    2 eggs
    1/2 a tin of white fish.
    The beans are sautéed in water in a non stick pan for lunch around 2pm with a couple of eggs chucked in at the last minute, then for dinner it’s the other half of the beans and half a large tin of fish.
    I hope that sounds like a good plan to the experienced fasters. Although, having just had lunch, Im stuffed, and there’s NO WAY this feels like fasting!!!
    Im basically doing this because my weight is creeping up, despite the fact that I am constantly watching, and exceeding, my calorie goals. I just cant stick to any diet, and what worked before doesn’t seem to work anymore. But, I figure even I can successfully restrict what I eat for two days a week. So, Im giving it a go. Hope to talk with many of you as time goes by 😀

    Hi there and welcome.

    There are lots of tasty recipes out there but I tend to gravitate towards certain foods on a fast day as well. Not quite as restricted as yours but you might vary your vegetables as you get used to it. Eggs, white fish and sea food feature highly in my fast day meals as well.

    You’ve already noticed one of the benefits of fasting: you do not need to deprive yourself of good food constantly, unlike most calorie counting diets. Of course, if on five days a week you overeat massively by eating cake, ice cream and pizza, all washed down with sugary soft drink, weight loss will not happen. However, a lot of fasters have experienced that their appetites changed, sugar cravings disappeared and they started to prefer healthier food choices on non-fast days.

    Should you get hungry later, just stick to fasting and tell yourself: only a few more hours and I can have it all. Good luck!

    Hi Dummerchen, thanks for the welcome!!! Its now 8.40pm. I had the other half of the beans and fish around 6.30pm, and Im still nicely full. I feel very excited and confident about it all, but also quite skeptical that this will result in weight loss. But, Im SO willing to really try and give it my all 😀

    Hello nzshellie. I am new to this diet too. I started 7 days ago and have only fasted two days. I have lost 4.4 pounds in that time. I can’t believe it. I started 72 pounds overweight. I double checked my weight on two different scales to be sure, both at the beginning and today(we have very good scales because my son is a weight lifter)
    I did not believe I would lose weight by eating so much on my fast days too. I know the weight loss will be slower as time goes on and my body adjusts to it but I am happy now and I am happy you are doing it too.

    Thanks Miss Marjorie 🙂 I love to hear people success stories and positive experiences!!
