  • Hi I’m Karen and starting the 5:2 today. I haven’t got much weight to lose, I’d be happy with around 8 or 9 lbs for my holiday in June and wondered how anyone else only needing to lose a few lbs has got on. Plus I’ve just started menopause and have found that recently I’m having a struggle losing anything at all. I’m hoping I’ll be more successful with 5:2.

    I’d welcome any advice or comments.

    you have a very achievable goal, plenty of advice and support on here,lots of us will be fasting today with you 🙂

    I started last july and lost just under 10 lbs, so with time and patience you will loose those lbs am sure 🙂

    Thanks for your reply Angie it’s spurred me on and given me a bit of hope! I’ve felt fine with my fast day today but will probably be looking forward to eating more normally tomorrow. It’s not been as bad as I thought so if I can just keep in this mind set I’ll hopefully be fine and achieve what I want to lose – I’ve got 13 weeks until I go on holiday so plenty of time even if I only lose a lb a week 🙂

    I started in January 2012 and lost just over a stone. Fed up at last weigh in before Christmas as put on a pound despite being brilliant on non fast days and doing more on treadmill. Restart after Christmas hard but back into it now. Trouble is its costing me a fortune as I keep internet shopping on fast days (well it passes the time until tea!!). Maybe now the better weather is on the way I’ll be out more (and hit the shops for real!!) Good luck everyone, this is really a good type of diet to do.
