  • Hi there. I’m Clara, 54, 5ft 1in and 9st 10lbs. Would like to lose some and as important, stop being so mindless about my consuming habits.

I’ve had two fasting days now, the second yesterday, more uncomfortable than the first – maybe because I’d just got over a cold. The fasts have both made me tired and low in spirits at the end of the day, a shame as I’d like to feel up and proud of myself!

I liaised with Catrina initially in another thread, and she was so nice and encouraging.

Good luck everyone, if luck is the word!

Hang in there, it’s worth it!

Clara H., what did you eat, and when, on fasting days? I find that I have to make sure I get plenty of protein and at least a little bit of fat each time I eat on a fasting day. If I eat a food that is primarily carbohydrate, even something healthy like an apple or some porridge, it just won’t hold me, I’ll be hungry in an hour or two. I usually save most of my calories for my evening meal, I can feel a bit tired the last couple of hours before eating that, but then I feel better and go to bed feeling better. Some people do better saving all their calories for their evening meal, they find that eating anything sets off the whole hungry/tired cycle. Try different strategies to find what works for you.

Thanks for the tip, Franfit, will perhaps try the 350 cals as late as poss tomorrow (today!) and the other 150 at lunch.

    Many thanks for encouragement!

Clara H., I hope your new strategy works, if not, keep on tweaking until you find the strategy that does work for you. We all respond to food a bit differently 🙂 I actually like fasting now — usually — still have a really hungry fasting day from time to time — but you should feel proud of yourself, managing not to eat for several hours in our current social/cultural environment is an achievement, and you are taking an important step for your health.

I’m eating quite a lot on non-fast days, though trying to keep sugary stuff down. Hope I can lose at least 1lb a week.
