  • Hi folks,

Just read the book on the 17th, did my first fast day yesterday. Felt good – almost meditative. My lady (needs it more than I do, but less keen) also had a go and struggled more.

    I’m a 28yo Male Primary school teacher.
Start weight: 87-90kg. Goal weight: 82-84 kg
    Height: 176cm
Exercise: I train parkour(90-120 minutes)and yoga (90 min) weekly, and intermittent weights programs for strength training. I have also been doing 20 minute ‘boot camps’ High intensity circuits – targeting abs, lower, upper and cardio with my kids at school twice a week during term time.

I’m keen to loose a bit of weight, but even more to develop stronger self discipline and reap the health benefits of fasting.
I will be doing 5:2 fasting Thursday and Saturday, my partner’s is having a go too but she’s going to start with just one day a week of restricted cal (which she found terribly hard yesterday) and eat healthier low carb the rest of the time.

I’m off to go and try find the full docco to watch (Assuming my computer will load it!)

    Cheers,
    FT

@frozenthunderbolt – I tried posting the link to the full documentary that David Mosley made for the BBC, but I can’t seem to. So, Google the following: david mosley eat fast daily motion
The first hit should be the video

The fast days will feel long and dreadful if one isn’t ready for them mentally. You seem quite keen but your other half not so much. If I can suggest that you let her come to fasting on her own, she will be more successful that way if it is her choosing to do them. It also helped me my first week to plan the dessert I was going to have the next day during the non fast day.

    Good luck!

Thanks for the info and advice VR 🙂

Hi, How is your fast going?

    Good thanks!
Nothing to eat since 7:00 pm last night, just water, Black coffee, and black and green tea.
I’m thinking that nothing is easier than something for me.
I’ll break my fast at about 7:00 am tomorrow.

    Hello

I am on month 3, fell off wagon month 2. I find fast days hard if I don’t plan, and can be quite grumpy by the end of the day.
On a fast day I need to be working, never at home all day. First month I lost 5kg, about 15 to go, but I was more interested in the prospect of repair of immune systems, maybe fixing allergies.

    85.5 kg – down 1.5-2kg.
BUT for the last week I haven’t fasted at all as I had all my wisdom teeth ripped on on the Wednesday just gone, and don’t want to put my body under more stress by fasting.
So, Week 1 and 2 normal and fine – hunger pangs gone and day-to-day hunger mostly gone too, though a noticeable craving for chillies and other hot stuff.
Week 3 teeth out (this week)
Week 4 (next week) I’ll probably go back to a complete fast Thursday and a restricted cal day on Saturday. (I expect to see a bit more weight loss by then).

Weighed in yesterday before fast day breakfast – 82kg!
That’s with the broken fast schedule the week of and after my surgery! Damn!
Verry happy – will keep up my 2 days, but go to both reduced cal. days (Thursday and Saturday) from now on. Will cut to one day if I hit 76kg, but intend to start weight training again, so this is unlikely!
Interestingly my desire for chillies has gotten stronger – sometimes on fast days i snack on a bite of whole frozen chilli pepper, or a tsb of sour chilli sauce.
