Hello from the USA!!

  • I have fasted before but it was decades ago and I am now about to turn 60. this is my first day and I feel pretty good other than a little grumbly stomach late afternoon is the worst for me. I will be back later tonight. 6Pm Northwest USA time.

    Ok I was doing good till 3pm. I know we can have 500 cal a day on fasting days but as soon as I started to eat I could not stop. Now I have a tummy ache and am very upset with my self. I felt better not eating. I will start over tomorrow and fast with just water for the whole 36 hours. Its exciting to be reading stories from people in other countries. Till tomorrow. Bye.

    Fast for as long as you possibly can would be my advice and some people do find a TOTAL fast works well for them but if you get to a few hours before bed and can’t stop looking at the fridge, you go ahead and have your fastday 500. If you stick to protein, fibre, fat and AVOID ALL carbs you’ll be sated and happy when you hit the sack. Allow a carb to pass your lips and you’ll be itching for the rest of the evening (in my experience). I’m sticking to fresh veg & fruit ONLY on fastdays these days, having tried MANY different things in the past.

    I’m also in the US and been on since early Jan. I’ve loat about 8 pounds. I know doesn’t sound much but I really only have 5 more to lose so didn’t have a ton of extra weight to start. I’ve played around with the fast days a few different ways. Holding out all day until the evening is sometimes difficult with my lifestyle. I like better to hold out until 2ish. Late lunch like a big salad with chicken. Then that night I save 100 calories for something like an apple if I need it. Plus when you eat everything at night I go to bed full which I don’t like. By the way, in the US you can order chia bagels on Amazon. They are 80 calories with 11 grams protein and 7 grams carb. They aren’t huge and don’t tastw super by themselves but with a laughing cow cheese its only 110 and gets you through! This is my carb exception! I don’t feel satisfied having zero…just me. 🙂

    Thanks you two. Yeah that carb thing, i was on Atkins before this. I am a carb addict so I stick to low carb foods anyway. I just feel better not eating at all. Maybe a glass of tomato juice. Lets see how I do today.

    Welcome tootantoni! Hope your fast day goes well today. I don’t usually fast on Friday’s but it’s working out that way today.

    I had a protein shake after my morning workout and will try to wait until dinner time for some chicken and veggies.

    Don’t beat yourself up about having a day that didn’t end the way you planned. It happens. Just do your next fast as scheduled and it’ll all be good!

    Hi Lori, I’m just learning this site and I have unsubscribed from email responses, I prefer to post online through this site. Its 11:12 am and I am really hungry, its not a problem it’s just annoying. I don’t have enough to do to keep my mind off it. I expected this. I live full time in an RV and my husband works still, so sometimes I go to the jobsite and sit in the parking lot in our rig and watch him. I get impatient waiting for the day to end. So far just my coffee and water this morning. If I start eating ANYTHING I won’t stop till I’m sick so I am sticking with water.

    How long do I stay in this forum before I’m no longer a newbie?

    Ok got thru the second try and stayed at 500 cal. Felt pretty good. Have not over eaten today. Plan on fasting again on Monday. This may be the way of my future. I do not have a scale so I will take measurements weekly instead.Hope you all are doing good.we went metal detecting today and found a silver pendant.

    Starting second fast tomorrow. Have not over eaten the last two days and am looking forward to taking measurments soon.How is everyone else doing?

    Well, for me it’s been a positive week. I hadn’t lost anything (actually put some on) for the past year (thanks to a massive increase in exercise level Feb before last). However, I’ve finally started to see the scale move after quitting the gym and concentrating on the 5:2 a month ago. I’m about 4lb down so far – hopefully I’ll average at least 1-2 lb per month for the next couple of months before I go back to the gym.

    I’m not fussed about getting to my ‘ideal’ BMI – I’d just be happy to be comfortably within the ‘normal’ range somewhere and I’m only 10lb or so away from that, so it’s just one last ‘push’ for me.

    Tracy I GAIN weight when I exercise too. In 4mts I put on 20lbs just because I started a walking routine. I was very angry. The only exercise I get now is the slow walking and digging while metal detecting with my husband. I feel strong today and ready for my second fast day. I am in the USA and in the Pacific Northwest so my timezone may be off from yours therefore my responses my be late.

    stressed out at 4:30 because I have to cook dinner for my husband is coming home from work now. I’m over my 500 calories by 300 right now so I’m struggling to hang on and not eat till morning

    Hi! I’m on the northeast. Just stop now and don’t eat more. Even if you are over the 500. I ate a ton of chocolate today. Really went overboard. But I worked out tonight and skipped dinner. Tomorrow is a new day. 🙂
