  • Hi all

I started the on Monday. I was 20 stone 2 lbs and will weigh in tomorrow to see how I’ve got on. I actually did 4 3 this week as I went to St Ives for a break this weekend and new I’d be over indulging so have done Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Not sure if that’s a good thing to try at the beginning or not?

I’ve been between 17 and 18 stones for years but got hospitalised with pneumonia last year after not having had a day off ill for 20 years. It took me 6 months to recover and I just ate and ate and ate and put on over two stone 🙁

I have a med cruise which is 3 months away and a stag do in Vegas two weeks later and my life has become pretty uncomfortable due to my weight. Knowing I have these that I should be looking for instead of dreading has spurred me on. I feel at 44 I need to make life changing decisions regarding health!

    Cheers.

Well I lost 5lbs which is great I guess. Now at 19 st 11 lbs.

Good for you Vivalas, well done. Keep it up and let us know how you’re getting on. And don’t worry if the weight loss isn’t consistant, it doesn’t have to be in order to make a lasting difference.

Thank you Tracy, much appreciated. There’s some very good advice on here so hopefully it will go well 🙂

Just weighed myself a day early (as I won’t be around tomorrow) and I’ve dropped another 6lbs so I’m 19 st 5 lbs! So that’s an 11 lb. drop in two weeks. I’m over the moon with this and I feel really great. I’ve stuck to 3 days fasting and I’m coping quite well doing it. I’m aware that this level of weight loss is because I have so much to loose and will slow down very soon, but hey I’m making the most of it for now. Not sure how tomorrow will go having the day off work as I find work a great distraction from thoughts of food. Few things I’ve found/done :

    1. I get to work early everyday and then take a 1/2 walk into town and buy a 2 litre bottle of still mineral water for 55p. Okay so it costs me £2.75 a week for water but it gives me my first walk of the day and more importantly i drink all of it before I go home at night. With a coffee in the morning, a couple of mint teas during the day and a couple of glasses of water at night I’m drinking around 3 litres a day. This I’m sure helps reduce hunger as well as being good for me.

    2. Saving all my calories for one meal after 6pm to me is easier than small meals because once I start eating I get hungry. A couple of times I’ve cooked myself a curry with chicken, lots of spices, tomatoes and veg and found that filling. I’ve also had a couple of M & S fuller for longer (around 400 cals). If I’ve need a small bar of chocolate or a couple of rich tea or a packet of oddities, I’ve built that into my 600 total rather than hunger for it.

    3. On my normal days I’ve found that when I wake I’m not actually hungry and have left it to as late as midday before I eat, so I’m kind of doing 16/8 I think, but I need to look into that more as I’m not really that knowledgeable on it. What I have noticed though is that my craving for doughnuts, sweets, biscuits, crisps and all things that are total rubbish has gone from say 90% to 20%. I hardly even think about it.

    4. Whilst I feel a little tired on this, when I do walk for a few miles I feel quite energised and can already walk far longer far quicker. In two weeks I’ve seen a massive change in loads of positive areas.

I’m quite a realist and am fully prepared for failed days or even weeks a long the way, but I can really see so many benefits of this long term 🙂
