Hi everyone,
I’m a 33 year old female with a recent history of ovarian cancer and newly diagnosed hypothyroidism (about to start thyroxine). I’ve been having issues with fatigue since my surgeries to rid me of cancer last year. I also need to lose a fair amount of weight. My GP has just suggested the 5:2 diet – I’d never heard of it prior to this. I’ve read the book and am keen to give this a go.
I do have a concern though – I am a veterinarian and work full time. My days are busy and I’m on my feet and on the go most of that time. I’m aiming for my fast days to be during the week as I want to be able to relax on the weekends. I’m a bit worried at least in the initial stages of hunger and associated issues affecting my work performance – I need to be able to think clearly throughout the day! Does anyone have any comments or tips relating to this? I think I’ll aim to eat similarly to Mimi in the book – a small breakfast and dinner with a snack during the day.
I’d be interested to hear other people’s experiences. Look forward to getting involved!
