  • I have been doing Fast5 on an off for the last few years so I am used to the idea of intermittent fasting. Unfortunately, I have been having trouble sticking to the 5 hour window on a daily basis. On a good week I will stick to it 5 or 6 days a week but lately it has been more like 2 or 3.

Last weekend I went to the football game with people from work and knew I would be eating all day. To make up for this, I decided to use Saturday as a complete fast day. I found it to be easier than I expected. While there were a few times during the day that I was bored and wanted to eat, I was not at all hungry until I was already 26 hours into my fast. At that point it was practically bed time and I knew I could eat once I woke up. Sunday I went crazy as expected and ate all the yummy free food that was placed in front of me.

This week I chose to fast again on Saturday. I was very impressed that I didn’t actually eat that much more today than I would eat any other day. I expected to be hungry and eating all day. Instead, I had a small meal when I woke up and wasn’t hungry again for about 5 hours. I ended up eating 3 small meals and being perfectly content.

I am going to try to make Wednesday my second fast day this week. That will be more difficult for me because by the time lunchtime comes around I am desperate to get away from everything work and office related and I use eating as an excuse.

I have a question about the 1/4 calories on fast days. Coming from Fast5 I am used to just water fasting during fast periods. I find that it is easier for me to abstain from all eating than to try to eat a very small amount. Any amount of food triggers my hunger and I am likely to cave and keep eating. Is there anything wrong with my not consuming those calories during my fast days?

    Hi gswh:

Nothing wrong with not eating any calories on your diet days – it is 5/600 cal or less. Here are some tips: http://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/the-basics-for-newbies-your-questions-answered/ Many people find that eating high fat/protein foods on diet days tempers their hunger and that eating carbs makes them very hungry.

    Good Luck!
